ROM upgrade from micro-SD card - Touch Cruise ROM Development

Wiki on the Trinity says to rename the RUU_*.nbh file to TRINIMG.nbh before inserting the card to access Bootloader for flashing.
At the moment, Wiki is silent on whatever rename the file RUU_signed.nbh for the P3650 may require.
Do we know a definitive answer yet, please ?

Xdarit doesn't write with new .nbf files ?

I use the Xdarit to read & write the Rom image from my MDA.
I managed to read from the SD card and stored on my harddisk.
When I create back with a new rom .nbf files to the SD card and read back again to the harddisk, the SD show the original files size that from my MDA not the one that I'm going to upgrade to ? I rename the files to .nb1 extension.
Do I need to reformat the SD Card ? Do I need a new SD Card for the download ?
Dear XDA developer #..., please advice. I have been posting and yet to get some good advice and replies.
I would appreciate very much of your expertise in this matter.
Thanks again
they should be the same size, nb1, and nb0 files always are fixed size
more answer:
- when using xdarit you never have to format sd cards.
- renaming files will probably confuse XDARit, since this
is how xdarit recognizes what kind of file it has.
What I meant original file sizes.
1. Read from SD Card ( backup from MDA )
bootloader 5-15.nb0 256 K
WindowsCE 5-15.nb1 32,512 K
2. Write to SD Card ( with new ruu extract from O2 ie )
bootloader 5-15.nb0 256 K
WindowsCE NK_Wallaby31413wee_O2_Fulll.nbf 31,745 K
3. Read back the backup step 2.
bootloader 5-15v1.nb0 256 K
WindowsCE 5-15v1.nb1 32,512 K
As you mentioned, the files size are fixed, therefore my files of
the 5-15v1.nb1 should have the content of the NK-Wallaby.....
and I should had leave the file extention as .nbf without rename it to .nb1
Or should i had wite back using the step 1 files name ?
Please advice, many thanks
if you rename an .nbf file to .nb1, you will burn an incorrect os image
to your xda. making it unbootable in OS mode.
( your bootloader will still work )
also, be careful updating your bootloader, if it fails somehow
it is very difficult to restore your xda
if you just want to update your OS, only write the ..nb1 file
or select the .nbf from your distribution, without renaming it.
this http://openwince.sourceforge.net/jtag/iPAQ-3600/ might
give you an impression on what you would have to do, to repair
your xda after you've trashed your bootloader
Bootloader still appear but buttons not working ?
Thanks XDA developers,
My case is that I might accidently overwrite the bootloader.
The bootloader still be able to appear and the GSM OK showed but none of the functions button be able to work.
Do you think there is a way to work around ?
Many thanks for your replies
can u tell about bootloader version?
Bootloader v 5.15 on a T-Mobile MDA with 3.13.12 GER & Radio T310.
i think u can try to make sd card that contain wallaby path (.nb2) using xdarit... logically u can access "action button" to flash the rom.... this is only way to activate "action button"
after insert sd card u can go on bootloader and see wallaby path, press action button, if it work u can flash the rom (may be u should find exact rom that installed before xda died, more work?)
hope u can fix this prob

try to change device "mass storage device" with driver from manufacture, use one of xdarit executable 180kb or 1.39mb (find out in other thread)
Hello,
I install manufacturer's drivers, but isn't work
I download (found) only 180kb version of XDArit (and source code, but my C++ knowledge... khm...)
Can you write the 1,3mb version's link from me?
Thx

Just searching for why I couldn't get XDArit to work with my system - seems the larger (presumably debug) build of XDArit has what's needed to work with the v4 nbf's - thanks for the pointer!

Couldnt upgrad QTEK 1010 using SD card

I tried to upgrad my qtek using the XDA_Tools directly with USB and it failed, what I can see in the screen is only grey lines.
Now, I'm trying the other wy using the SD card. I followed all the steps mentioned in the forum and I used the XDA_Tools to make a ROM image on the SD card.
When i go to the boot loader while the SD card inserted it doesnt prompt me that there is a new ROM image on the SD card.
I tried to use variouse versions of the ROMS's and it still gives the same result.
I have bootloader ver 5.15
SD card 64 MB
SD read/write USB
Can any one please help me to perform this task to have my qtek back.
Thank You
you used nbf or nb1 format ?
did you cook it like that or extracted the nbf from the ROM exe ?
Hello Biso,
I tried first cooked one from yorch nb1, then I tried NBF I already downloaded , both couldnt work.
I doubt that there is a problem in reading from SD card, as I now I try to perfrom back to SD card it tells me " CARD FAILED"
Thank you,
Hey Biso,
Just curious by what you meant 'extract the nbf file from ROM .EXE file'? Is this the proper way to do it?
I cooked various versions of nb1's and nbf's but they won't copy on the SD card. Whenever I try to copy an nb* file on the SD through a USB card writer using the XDA tools, I get a message reading that there is something wrong on the filesize and it cannot proceed with copying the file.
Hey Peter, did you get the nbf file on the SD successfully? Do you need something more than just XDA tools?
My bootloader is also 5.15.

Yes I could get the file on the SD, you dont need anything more than the SD tools, but my only problem is that when I insert the card and go to the bootloader nothing happens[/quote]
Ok Peter,
It seems that I'm running through the same problem myself. The copying process through the XDA tools seems to be going smoothly but after it is completed I can't see the file on the SD card. Have you checked that the file has been really copied on the SD? I'm working on it now. Let me know if you find something first.
Hello All,
Yes, I always cook the ROM as EXE and if it doesn't work I extract the nbf file from it.
The best way is to format the SD card using the XDA. Then use XDAtools to copy the nbf to the XD card through the USB cradle. When it's done, the SD card should NOT be readable. The XDA might ask you to format this card ... just press NO!. When you go to the bootloader it will be recognized.
I just flashed my XDA with A30.09 few minutes ago ... I used exactly those steps .... Good luck
Thank you Bisso.
I managed to pull it through myself in a slightly different way. I had to copy the nbf file in the program files/XDA tools/binary/english folder. I then run the XDA tools and indicated the source and destination folder manually the source being the nbf file in the above folder.
It worked!!!
For all those of you cooking your ROM from Lumpi Stefan's kitchen beware of the 4.01.00 ROM. It's a T-Mobile's ROM and if you're not happy with it, it won't let you change it through active sync. You'll have to use an SD card to download a new ROM on your Qtek.
Hello Biso,
I am not able to perform ur way of upgrading because my qtek doesnt boot it gives those grey black and white lines, so my only wy is to go through the boot loader, could the version of the rom be the reason that i doesnt want to boot in the boot loader?
Hey Peter,
I had the same problem and I figured out why. Make sure that the command lines on the source field of the OSimage tool window point to the right nbf file which you had extracted from the .EXE file. Click on the 'browse' button next to the 'source' field and pick it up manually. Then proceed with the copy and slide your SD in your Qtek.
Let me know of how you did...

How can I install? *.NBH file

I got Italian File.but I don;t know how to install it..
The file name is arteimg.nbh.
Please help me.
i think you need USPL and extract the files to your hd, then
copy this nbh file into the uspl folder and start uspl...
I think this is an image to flash from sdcard (because of the name),
but imho it should work when you use uspl.
Cheers Peter
nbh file is installed with original/standard flashing utility for your device.
if you have nbh which represents original ROM for your device, then you can copy it to sd card with name ARTEIMG.NBH, reset the device into bootloader, it will flash.
however flashing from sd card only works with original/shipped ROM for your device.

ROm Update form SD Card

is it possible to do that?
I brick my Heral when I trying to patch IPL, now it stack in boot mode.
I try al avaliable on xda ftp rom updates but always I got "Incorrect file" .
My Herald is from Rusia (cyrylica on keyboard)
it is indeed possible to do so. i am not sure of any IPL/SPL requirements, but here are the instructions.
1. take your sd card
2. take the .nbh file of the rom and rename it to "heraimg.nbh"
3. put it on your sd card
4. put it in your phone
5. go into bootloader. if already in bootloader, soft reset.
6. follow the onscreen instructions
thats how i flashed ttran's first '209 rom

it shows only checking sd content ant after that it is stacking on bootloader informations (IPL, SPL versions)
what kind of card is it? I do not believe this is possible with microSDHC cards as well as cards of a certain (relatively high) capacity.
Make sure your card is empty except for the file and that is formatted to FAT16 ( I think)
indeed your card must be formated by Fat 32 (use your Windows Explorer to format the card)
Besides this issue, I'm not sure if it is possible to do so if your devide got stuck changing its IPL. Which one did you try?
To make sure; use the official RUU rom from HTC.
Download it; open the exe file with WinRar to extract the nbh file included and use this file to flash your device.
Good luck
dont waste your time, those methods doesnt work. If u r goin to try to... "recover" your device with this method... you're just wasting ur time (you'll end up with a Invalid Certificate error)
theres no solution

It could be beacuse the ROM that you are trying to flash requires Hard-SPL.

To use sd card method you need to have Hard SPL installed.
1. Format sd card FAT32. Copy .nbh file of the om you want on to it. Rename to hermimg.nbh
2 Insert into Hermes and go to bootloader.
3. If the ALL steps have been followed exactly then follow the prompts.
Cheers...

i know how to do that. in looking for the organal rom the .nbh to put on to my sd card.
If you have the original rom, and its an exe file, right click on it and select "extract here". It should give you all the files in the .exe file including the .nbh file.
If you haven't got the file and are loking for it, good luck.... Might be in the wiki but might not. You might be lucky and have someone here who has it but its not gonna be emailed to you. At 60 to 90 Mb its not gonna go through.
Cheers...
thanx ultramag69. you are great help i have come right.
