Connecting ActiveSync via Bluetooth? problem...help... - JAM, MDA Compact, S100 General

I can't connect ASync via Bluetooth.
I have Qtek S100 with Imate ROM
ActiveSync version 4.5
and bluetooth adapter (noname) but everything else (sending and recieving files) working OK!
When i go to "Bluetooth settings" and press Start there is
"Please start bonding with other device which supports serial port or ASync profile as ASync parthner"
when i go to New Outgoing Port there are no ports to choose
also for Incoming Port
When i go to Active Sync and Tools and Connect via Bluetooth it stucks on "Conneting to HOST - Cancel - Hide Status" and does nothing....
Bluetooth icon becomes green and it wrote "Connected COM6" but Active Sync still does nothing...

I had the same problem. I knew that I was communication with the laptop since I had to exchange pin numbers, however I could not get activesync to work. Turned out to be a problem with my McAfee firewall. I uninstalled the firewall and everything functioned as expected. I'd like to offer a more technical solution but I can't. I reinstalled the firewall and everything is working fine now. Good Luck

You guys just have to findout that the bluetooth is using which COM port for the connection, (my bluetooth using com 6), once you found the Com port just open your ActiveSync -> Goto file -> Connection setting -> Allow Connection to One of the following -> set the COM port, and then try to connect again.
See the attached Picture please.
Let me know please.
Sid

see this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=249219
install the bluetooth stack
but you have to configure the activesync port as in the pict above I always put port number 3 and it works
-activesync 4.5
-bluesoleil http://www.4shared.com/file/50972099/8e22caaf/IVT_BlueSoleil_602270_for_32bit_OS.html?s=1
that's how I fixed the problem after I upgraded to the latest radio and rom verion

Surf Internet with Bluetooth

hi,
I can't use the bluetooth conection to surf Internet in my WinXP SP2 pc.
I have updated usb bluetooth adapter drivers (WIDCOMM) and ActiveSync to 3.8.
I know that SP2 have some problems with bluetooth.
Please, some help?
with ur magician u can only surf internet per Active Sync... the magician has no network bluetooth profile... u can connect per BT to your PC and use AS ?!
Hi ingmar
As you say, i can't' connect then magician via bluettoth with AS. The usb serial port (COM4) is configurated, and this port is set in AS configuration. But AS always interrupt the connection with a error message after a few seconds. With USB AS run ok.
Thanks for your help
Try the following:
On your PC, check the Bluetooth-manager configuration and check which com port number is assigned in your local services tab. Now, go to the ActiveSync connection settings and choose this com port and mark the serial communication check box. That's about it on the PC.
On your PPC, go to Settings->Bluetooth Settings and press the "Start" Button for the ActiveSync over Bluetooth configuration. On the pop up dialog, enable Bluetooth and delete an existing pairment with your PC! After you did this, re-pair the two devices. When finished, start ActiveSync on the PPC and select "Connect via Bluetooth ...". Your ActiveSync connection should be established at this point.
When this is done, you're almost there. If your Desktop PC has a direct connection to the net (via LAN or WLAN), you should already be able to surf the net via Bluetooth. If you connect via DialUP network or similar, you need to configure your Internet Connection Sharing on Windows (only 2000 and XP allow this i think).

Click to collapse
If this com port is unselectable in activesync? what do we do in that case?
I have been toying around with my bluetooth for the better part of a day trying to get it to work. I have installed pocket bluetooth tools 1.0.1 as detailed here http://www.howardforums.com/showthr...9185e&threadid=544932&perpage=15&pagenumber=1 I managed to get the screen with the activesync icon a couple of times during the pairing process. When I went to activesync and selected sync bluetooth I would get a few seconds of connection and then it would automaticaly disconnect without actually syncing anything. I toyed around a bit more and have somehow lost the option to sync via bluetooth in activesync... I still see the irda option, but bluetooth has vanished. Any idea what I might have done wrong?
@elefas
When the com port assigned by your bluetooth manager is larger than 9, ActiveSync isn't able to use it. In this case, go into your Bluetooth manager and delete existing com ports (both, local and client). Go to your device manager, delete any still existing bluetooth com ports there, check your (physical) serial port and go into its properties. Somewhere there, you can choose which com port it should use. Select one, which is said to be blocked but you actually know it isn't (e.g. Com port 4). Press ok, go back into the same properties sheet and reselect the com port that has originally been selected. Go to your bluetooth manager and press to add a com port (both, local and client). Now you should have a port number less than 10. Microsoft sucks!

ActiveSync 4.1 Bluetooth Sync issue resolved

Having installed my BT USB dongle after I installed Activesync on my PC, I didnt have the Connection settings in my PC's BT Settings. after setting up the partnership, AS on the JJ would always say i needed to setup a partnership again.
Baffled me for weeks, but today I fixed it, and its very simple to do....
Code:
In your PC's BT settings find the Local Services BT Serial Port, note the com port, in my case COM5.
In AS on the pc make sure the "Allow connections to one of the following" is checked and set to the same com port as the BT serial settings.
Thats it!!! no incomming or outgoing ports needed on the JJ, just go into AS and goto menu and hit connect via bluetooth, off it went and sync'd up, no questions asked.
This is very pleasing to me and I can now fix my work lappy aswell, which is where this will be really useful.
Yes yes it works. I was spending 2 mins connecting over BT every time i wanted to use AS.
Thanks.
i do it but nothing of nothing
THANKS A MILL!
after many days trying to get this to work, i finally got it nailed, keep up the good work guys
Big problem with Activesync by Bluetooth on JasJar
Hi,
I have already read more forum on this question.
I have e problem trying to connect by bluetooth to ActiveSync.
When I pair my JasJar to PC not appear the service ActiveSync, but Serial Port.
Therefore ActiveSync, on JJ, can't connect to my PC.
I have already configure ActiveSync on PC to connect on right Com port.
Please help me, i have lost some night to try it.

BT Activesync "No Partnership"

Trying to BT AS from my JasJar to my PC.
PC has activesync service setup on COM6
AS is listening on COM6
JasJar has outgoing COM set to 4
When I start a BT sync reports "Cant find existing Bluetooth Partnership that supports activesync." and asks for a search.
Run through the wizard and select my PC and its serial port. After finishing device will not start a connection.
Go back to activesync and try to connect via bluetooth and gives the "cant find partnership error.
Tried two different adapters on the PC and neither get it to work.
Anyone with any ideas?
Thanks!
Remove all the BT setting you have setup. Just follow the Help file on AS4.1 it works, really!
Tried all that and still not working.
Device just doesnt seem to initiate an outgoing connection.
ActSync connection problem!!
Did you fix the connection problem, think we are living the same case.
If you did fix would you please tell me what was the way?
thanks!
@Dave
From the PC AS, select File>Connection Settings and uncheck USB connection and select the BT COM port for Allow Connections. Then select "Connect" and wait till it tries all the connections and fails. Then selec Cancel and then try to connect from your Universal.
PS - I am assuming you have set-up the BT pairing using the Control Panel on the PC and Added the BT COM port from there as well
Hi,
Tried your suggestion. No luck.
PC is setup correctly. AS listening on COM6 (BT AS port as shown in my local services)
Jas doesnt seem top even initiate an outgoing connection. Get no blue indication on my desktop icon or on the port status item in the control panel.
Sorry to keep asking questions, but when you set-up the pairing between the PC and JJ did you get a Wizard on the PC that identified the ActiveSync service? Does the pairing info on the JJ say the PC provides a ActiveSync service?
I've had the same problem with my M5000, just solved it.
I removed the Toshiba bluetooth Drivers from the system and rebooted. WinXP SP2 found new hardware and proceeded to install what I assume to be standard MS Bluetooth stack. (DellHardWare.jpg)
Next, I deleted the bluetooth partnership from the M5000. I created a new partnership with my laptop, but initiated from the M5000. At this point, the M5000 didn't offer any services to use with the partnership. So, back to the laptop, creating a new incoming COM port (COM8),(DellCom8.jpg) and then set Activesync on the laptop to use that newly created port. (DellAS_connect.jpg)
Back to the M5000 bluetooth partnership, select the newly created partnership and click refresh (M5000btooth.jpg) This Time it offers me the activesync service. Tick the activesync service and then save.
Finally, on the M5000, from activesync select bluetooth connection...and that was it. Still working. Once I've disconnected and soft reset I'll try to make the connection again and report back. I'll also try to use the M5000 as a wireless modem and post results here.
FrankyG, great news. But I think the procedure you described is not that different from the AS44.1 Help file I suggested earlier.
i do it, but i doesn´t runs
Delete all your BT COM in control panel/system/device manager (select view and show hidden devices) by going to safe mode. Afterwhich restart your PC and try to pair again....it's always works for me

help activesync bluetooth!

hi all now i'm almost there! i have updated driver on laptop to a widcomm, updated jam with every bluetooth app i could find!
(Jam) anyway i delete all device partnerships,
(Jam) i then use bluetooth settings to add activesync via bluetooth,
(Jam) add new device
(Jam) add password
(Laptop) enter same password
(Jam) Availiable profiles window opens with serial port, activesync, modem, Headset, and network windows availiable but the lil icon saying busy comes up and never goes away?
i tried just selecting the profiles but to no joy
(Jam) when i went to activesync and tried to connect via bluetooth to BOH113 (laptop) it says connecting, laptop says connected (bubble not activesync) then the (Jam) window that says connecting just closes down with out connecting or syncing???
can someone help me plz i'm so close
Did you select your incoming bluetooth port in ActiveSync. Are your Bluetooth ports below 10?
yes! i selected port and yes it is below 10. only two listed 1 & 2 i tried both and still no luck!
(jam) now it just says connecting to host and does nothing?
(Jam) under bluetooth com ports tab;
incoming and outgoing ports have nothing listed, when you tap one of them the next window apppears but no port options come up?
could this be apart of the problem?
now when i select connect via BT with B..... it opens the connecting bubble , says do you wish to switch bluetooth on, i select yes it continues to try and connect and then it comes up with a bubble saying would you like to switch bluetooth off now to save power

Magician ActiveSync via Bluetooth - Please Help Help Help

Hi everybody...
I know this has been posted be4... but I have searched the forum a lot, with no luck..
searched howardforums too.. no luck too...
even in bengalboy web site, but his guide did not work.... every time I try to connect to my pc I get disconnected..
I wish to sync vis M$ stack... not Bluesoeilfor the JAM
I has MSI BT dongle, Toshibal BT stack on PC, M$ BT stack on JAM
*PS: does anybody know how to install M$ BT on PC... I have Win XP pro SP2.. and I think it should have built in.. but when I uninstall Toshiba's Stack.. I can get anything!!!
please help...some basic what to do....
I really appreciate it
duke911: do you want to explain what you've done so far on the PC.
That PDA should be fine, it's quite easy to setup
(read here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=144696#144696)
However, on the PC: you've installed the hardware, have your bluetooth dongle working, and have successfully paired your PDA?
V
Thanks vijay555 for the swift reply
The dongle works fine, pairs and everything...
but when I plugged it for the first time.. it was not recognized by my PC... aparenely there were no drive for BT.. so I installed the Toshiba's stack bundled with the dongle.
Here is what I have done:
first I tried bengalboy guide here ( although i dislike his website a lot )
http://www.bengalboy.com/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=4&forum=8
but every time I finish and I press Connect Via Bluetooth in Active Sync PPC... I see the opening port message etc.. but I don't get connected..
after that.. Toshiba's Stack on my PC started to act weired... first when I paired with the JAM.. I get three services: SPP, DUN, Push Object
but after a while.. SPP just disappeared...
Then I uninstalled the driver.. reinstall.. same problem..
uninstall.. tried ( Add Hardware Wizard in PC ) to try Microsoft Stack.. but it did recognize the dongle...
please vijay555.. can you tell me how to install the original stack from Microsoft on my PC???
Thanx in advance
duke911: I'm actually using the blue soleil stack that came with my ebay dongle. I vaguely remember there being an enormous effort getting that to install, for marginal benefit. I'm in the office right now, but if you still need help later I can see if they'll help you out, when I get home later.
But try reading through some of the blue soleil threads on this board, I think they discuss the relative benefits of the various stacks floating around on the board. Blue Soleil works for me, but frankly, bluetooth is the kind of thing you shouldn't have to think about, it should just work, right!? Those threads might also discuss uninstalling any other stack. If you've not made major changes, have you considered using System Restore on your PC to roll back to before installing the dongle?
V
OK.. I have done every thing you can imagine.... it now 2 am... I have been trying to figure out how do this since 3 pm... and no luck
I tried installing the dongle on a different PC with XP SP1... also no luck.. no M$ driver... so I installed Toshiba's...
after that I restored my JAM using a sprite back up to a different time... how knows maybe i messed a lot since 3 pm
after that i did the following:
1. in PPC: went to Start>Settings>System> Bluetooth Settings then choose Incoming COM and pressed Start in the middle of the page..
2. paired with PC.. no problems.. PS: PPC did not say that my PC supports SPP
3. on PC.. choose the same COM port that Toshiba uses for SPP ( which is COM 8 ) in my case..
4. from PPC tried to Sync.. and then I get this message in Active Sync in PC
5. If I choose different COM port for AS.. I get the usual message on my PPC ( connecting to Host ) but I get nothing
PS: I'm using Active-Sync 4.1 on the another PC... while the previous uses v 3.8
please vijay555 help me out here... my head is about to explode
Problem Solved.... 8)
Will post instruction tomorrow.. step by step.. for newbies...
thanks vijay555 for you help
OK here is the thing...
the trick is to chooses the same COM port for you Serial Port Profile for both : PC bt stack & Active-Sync... i.e. both use COM 7 or 8 ..etc
second.. you should pair your PPC with PC.. and create an Outgoing COM from your PPC...
a picture is worth a thousand words.. check this GIF
cheers
hey duke what did you do? i've been trying to get m jam to sync for agees without any luck! i'm starting to think that it might be the usb dongle that i'm using on my laptop! bout to go buy a new one so any tips you can offer would be great
do the following:
1. make sure PC bluetooth stack uses the same port for SPP as well as Active-Sync i.e. Both COM 8
2. on PPC: go to Start>Settings>System then choose Bluetooth Settings... and then tick outbound COM Port..
3. a pop up message will show.. click OK then you'll be take to BT manager.. you have to make sure you device is discoverable... then pair with your laptop.. after you finish.. go to COM Ports in BT manager... and create a new outgoing COM port...
4. go to Active-Sync in PPC and then choose tools>Connect via Bluetooth
that's it.. and I guess the gif will prove helpful
cheers
Ok, here's another manual. You have to follow each step precisely!
In your bluetooth manager on the PC, check for your incoming serial bluetooth port. This is the com port number which is shown under Local services or incoming services. If your COM port number is above 10, ask what to do then - ActiveSync doesn't work with COM ports above No 10.
Go to the ActiveSync settings on your PC and set the check box for the serial port. Select the one that was shown in the blueototh settings as incoming BT port.
On your Pocket PC, go to the Bluetooth settings. Select both checkboxes for the incoming and outgoing COM Port.
There you press start, go to your bluetooth device list and delete an existing pairing to the PC to which you want to connect to. Then re-pair the PPC with the computer again.
Afterwards, you can go to ActiveSync on your PPC and select "Connect via Bluetooth ...". That's it.
[/list]
hey dandie! what do i do if my pc assigns a com port of 11 and higher for my jam? i've tried the "show hidden" under device manger but my pc still keeps assigning a com port of 11 and higher?!
help
thanks
The COM port of PC and PPC DOESN'T have to be match. (No matter what BT stack you are using) In fact
Com port on Magician is FIXED at Com 5 and there is nothing to configure regarding the Com port over there.
On the PC, the BT stack choose whatever free com port them for serial connection. (eg: The blue soleil stack will tell you which com port is using in the pops up message when U BT activesync yr PPC to yr PC)
Then File > Connection Setting and select that port on yr PC's activesync.
(Sometimes, U have to try it serveral times to get activesync working)
