Device Lock on wake up - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

Hi there,
I am using SPB pocket plus and mobile shell. I love the device Lock they feature but the program only allows you to activate it manually. I would like to have the device lock (not interested in downloading any new programs, had S2U2 and it was ...alright...) activate when I press the power key to waken. I thought I read somewhere that one can use memmaid (which I have) to do this, however I am having difficulty finding good instructions for this. If not memmaid is there another approach? thank you for your time....
-MA

p.s. I am running WM6 on an Alltel 6800

anyone help?

I accidentally enabled this on my Kaiser by
1) flashing a rom with S2Unlock cooked in...
2) then installing the cab file on top of this...
3) and finally uninstalling S2Unlock.
this somehow removed the program itself, but enabled the Windows device lock to automatically come on by itself everytime I turn my device back on. So it would seem that it at least "can" be done, although be it very indirectly.

hmm... interesting... yeah not the way I want to go but glad it can be done. I read somewhere that one can activate it as a start up program using memmaid... I just don't know where the program is located to have it start it up... You would think there would be a registry change that could do it as well...

easy
there are many programs to do that.. basicly program either waits for wm_suspend message and then queues vk_f22 or program sits in notification queue waiting for event vm_resuming and then invokes vk_f22, see ie

Disable SMS Sent notification

Hi,
I've just got an XDA mini S on O2. Despite the check box in the messages section being unchecked, the sound being entirely off or on vibrate and the setting in sounds and notifications being left off, I still get the really irritating SMS sent message and ring tone. I don't mind the pop up but I want the phone to actually be silent when I tell it to be. I've tried the Reg changes using Total Commander - both SMSNoSentMsg and SMSDisableNotification neither seem to work. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is driving me mad.
Thanks
Tom

I'm not sure what version of Windows Mobile you are using on your device, but there is a way to correct this in WM6. Download and install the program I have attached below and then configure it however you like.
It is called Schaps Advanced Configuration Tool. It will allow you change a number of settings including the Message Sent notification.
This should work for you. Good luck!
Dan.
its wm5. the latest from O2.
Would that tool work in wm5?
To tell you the truth, I don't know. I have never tried it on WM5.
The only thing I could really tell you is to give it a try and if it didn't work then what do you have to lose? If it doesn't work then just un-install it.
I tried it and it didn't work.
Thoroughly annoying.

Hmmm... I don't know any other way. Sorry man. Try flashing WM6 to your phone and then install it. This way I know it will work.
Hmmm....
Nice one, I'm using WM6.
I'll try this one this week.

First download totalcmd (another file browser)
Create a blank wav file.. call it notify.wav (sometimes notify.wma)
Use totalcmd to replace the one in the windows directory with the one you created..
It works with some versions of wm5 though, so good luck..
I finally got it to work using the blank wav method above. Took a while as I forgot to change the read only bit. Bizarrely I can't delete the original so currently have 2 versions according to some explorers but only 1 according to others. Either way a test proved that I no longer get the tone.
HURRAH
Fantastic stuff guys, this has been annoying the hell out of me for ages. It is the notification of how much credit left on the PAYG card from O2. Does my head in!
Disable SMS Sent Notification
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Inbox
Click on Inbox (make sure the Inbox is highlighted) and select Edit, New Key
Name the New Key as "Settings"
Click on "Settings" (make sure the Settings is highlighted) and select Edit, New String Value
On "Value name:", key in SMSNoSentMsg and in "Value data", key in 1
Soft reset your device
What about notifications of the network?
There are some notifications (i.e. network messages) that still notify with a sound even when the device is on silent mode. Is there any workaround on this?
Great program! I was wrecking my brain trying to figure out how to disable the notification sound on my Htc Touch, none of the registry hacks worked for me.
Awesome app! I can't thank you enough for posting it--that noise was getting really irritating.
thanks dharvey for the application!!! it works great!! no more irritating notification!!! =)

UPLOADING UPDATED FILES YOU NEED TO REPLACE THE AUTOOFF.MSCR!!!!
Hi there with this collection off scripts you get the possibility to power on/off your device with TF3D enabled, also a little auto Off Function is Included.
Just download the attached zip folder and unpack all files to the root of your device.
Then copy TF3D-DisplayOff-mscr to your programs folder and map it to a button.
Now run the writenotification.mscr, (you need this file just at the first time, do not run it twice)
Now reboot your device with tf3d disabled in today plugins.
After reboot you should notice that TF3D starts.
Now with the button you mapped the tf3dDisplayOff Script to you can put your device to sleep with a keypress.
To power it back on just press power button.
If TF3D is disabled you can start it with the maped button too.
After 5 minutes a windows apear which will ask if device should go to sleep, if you press yes or do nothing device goes to sleep, if you press no the window will reapear in 5 minutes, i make that cause i miss that device with TF3D won't go automaticlly to sleep.
To remove the scripts just run remove notifications.mscr and delete the files.
hey i can't seem to get it to work on my nike..
how do you run writenotification.mscr???
My device says: first run program, then file.
And do you know a way to reload the clock so it starts on 00:00 and then flip down. Mine only does that when i enable the plugin the first time after it has been disabled.

This prog. freezes up my Kaiser to the point of a soft reset. I see TF3D start automatically after a reset, but when I press the assigned soft key to 'sleep' the screen goes off for a second, comes back on, TF3D is gone, and the unit is unresponsive...
doesnt work...I followed your instruction explicitly....and 1 after the inital reboot...tf3d doesnt come up and when activating the TF3D Displayoff.mscr its just dims my screen...howeever I'm still testing

If anyone here is playing around with TF3D for qvga or the drivers you should know that everything with this is still instable and beta´.
The script to it works on some roms and on some not,
If i hear questions like what is mort script and so on i think noone of you should anything of this, caus you are unable to use a search button.
Next versions of the script are posted in the new TF3D Manila dev. forum.
I think everything is posted there (that has to do with manila) until development is ready.
Cause everyone here is always asking the same questions.
If someone can't get rid of the notifications.... mmhhh.... search and you will find a solution how to edit the notifications on your your phone. Hard reset was not needed.

on the contrary..due to time...a hard reset was needed..I dont have time at this particular moment to dig and search for a solution... it is much less time consuming for me to harrd reset and restore from a back up. If you have solution to the notifications issue you should have posted it ...not trying to diss you but seriously...what was the point?
If after the write notifications script, you start the remove notification script all is good.
look into the scripts and you will see that the one does the oposite of the other.
Don't know why it dowsn't work for you.
Try the attached one, it doesn't do anything with notifications, in the archive there is a readme file.
If you don't want this anymore just delete the scripts and the lnk file(make a backup of the old one if it's there)

I have been using this most recent one and it has proven to be the best solution thus far! Is there any type of update on this method since your last post? I am not a member of the developers forum but I feel you are on the right track and hate to be excluded from future developments.
Thanks for all of your work!!!!!
Great, work. This is really the workaround that makes TouchFlo3D worth it for me. The turning off is smooth, whilst it takes a bit too long to switch on (I know that's touchflo and not your script).
I couldn't get the autooff to work. The instructions say to paste the autooff and poweron in the root folder. Shouldn't poweron be in the windows/startup folder? Otherwise I don't see how that script is being called? Or are the scripts in the root folders run automatically?
Is the newest mortscript beta release required for the latest version of this to work? Or would 4.05 or 4.1 do just as well?
Thanks for the good work!
Edit: Ah, the short_power.lnk calls poweron. But doesn't that means you have to manually enter standby and then wake up every time you softreset?

Missed call or SMS alerts

Is there anyway that the Blackstone can play a sound when there is a missed call or missed SMS and repeat it say for example every 3 mins?
don't think there is a built-in feature for this but get spb phone suite. that has it.
http://www.pocketpcfreeware.mobi/download-notification-repeat-enable.html
That link will let you do what you want, and more importantly, its a freeware!!
Enjoy!
Thanks for the link.
Sounds interesting.

Thanks to you both, I find that the spb phone suite gives me a broader control, but it is nice to have the cab file too.
Seems overkill to install SBP phone suite just for the notifications...
Can anyone pls confirm:
1. Is the cab file uninstallable?
2. How often does the notification repeat?
3. Does it actually work? There are comments on the above download page that says it keeps repeating even after the text is read...
The nice cab file posted above did gave me the optie to repeat a signal.
I have not really tested it yet so far
I tried the SPB phone suite and it worked good for me. I had no issues. The intervals were 1min 5 mins .... I forgot the rest.

Has anyone tried it yet? In that link, several people posted that it keeps repeating the alert even after you have read the missed message.
Also another program option would be PhoneAlarm (lite or Pro).
Also - on a similar note, I tested some of these setting combinations. You can see the results here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=459297
I am using missedcallreminder v1.2 and it works a treat......
Search for it on this site......
I just tried the .cab from post number 3.
It worked fine with the first test message I sent myself, but by the second test message, it DID repeat itself even after I had read the message. I deleted the message for it to stop reminding me and all of a sudden some five minutes later it started reminding me again!!! So, I went ahead and took the check marks off that setting. It's been five minutes and no sound yet.
That is unfortunate. That's a feature that should be considered "essential". I don't know why WindowsMobile or HTC didn't include a good working version of it with the option to remind with sound and/or vibration. We shouldn't have to turn to third-party apps for something like this.
EDIT: BTW, I think this is the program the previous poster was referring to. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405071
Read the whole thread before you install it. Some people say it uses up too much RAM. I have not tried it, so I can't say anything about it.
Thank you for the applicaion, i used to do it troguh registery but its nicer to have a program doing it for ya

I guess you don't bother searching or reading, do you? There's a link on the developer's page saying "Read me first". If you click that then you'll find full instructions.
If you do not want to use 3rd party software, I suggest you use the built-in one.
Just hold the most right button a few seconds... (or read also the manual of the phone)
I also use this method, it is fine and I can preserve more power.
Before that, I also use S2U2, and I remove it after 1 day trail.
When I put the machine aside, HD will lock after 30s, then the screen will goes off in another 30s, the beautiful S2U2 screen saver will only survive for no more than 1 minutes.
When I pull the stylus out, it will automatically unlock, so I got no point to use S2U2......and most important, after using it, the battery goes very fast.
I have a full charge before sleep (100%), when I wake up in the next day, only 89% battery left......

I have also used S2U2 and had problem with the power leak but then switched to pocket shield which was great, I even wrote a post about it somwhere in this forum... but after some time with pocket shiel it showed 2 very annoying problems. One was that somehow it totally messed up my galarm application to the point it didn't ring the phone alarm at all (I was very pissed of). Since I am a good man I decided to give it one more chance so I uninstalled galarm and used standard windows alarm app... unforutnately this misworked same way- no alarm, this time i was smart enough to test it. Second thing was that pocket shield was messing start menu in my phone - making it disapear until restart, whenever appointment reminder would start...so this is why I dumped pocket shield and moved back to the simplest standard windows lock function
using s2u2, I like the feature, "keylock: do not lock buttons." I installed keylock.cab, but no effect. There is another way?

"Speak" caller id

Hi All,
First question from me. I have just moved to the TD2 from nokia n95. On the N95 you could set it so that is would say the callers id when they rang. So, I had a short ring tone that would play, then it would say the name and cycle.
Does any body know if it is possible (or how to do it) on the TD2.
thanks for your help and ideas.
cheers
Use Voice Command...START-SETTINGS-PERSONAL-VOICE COMMAND
if it is installed on your device.
thanks jdwilson,
it is not installed on my device - do you know how I would get it?
Search on this forum or Google.
Well, I have got it installed and working for everything but the caller id (despite all the things ticked and setting the bits from other threads). If anybody has any great ideas they will be welcomed, but I will play.
It certainly allows a gap in the tone, but the phone is silent, then the tone starts up again, so I think it is trying to do it.
Use this:
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=249&cat=0&dl_id=673
But can it be used on other ROM versions?
I was never clear what, exactly, this update did - and since HTC said it could only be applied to a ROM version that pre-dated mine (and 6.5) I never found out!
If this 'fixes' any issue for Caller ID is it applicable to WM6.5???
thank fighter for the suggestion, but my rom version is not suitable
Read this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=561303
thanks again fighter, my caller id displays fine it is just not annouced.
When you open Voice Command, and select the phone option, on the right side of the screen, is a notification button, select that, then you will have 3 options for the announcement, make sure you select the one you want.
Yes, I have tried all of the options in notification, thanks. I will keep digging.

Thanks for the help.
my version is 1.60.4622.0
I have tried most of the settings in the first link (and some others in another thread).
The control cab generates errors (I have installed mortscript)
I was wondering if the system was not putting the ttscallerid.wav in the volatile, so I am trying to search the the phone for the file, I have not found it yet - using activesync and explorer.
Still digging, but the other features are quite good.
