I am new to this phone/windows mobile.
I use my live email account to get push email on my phone and it only seems to stay connected for like 30 seconds now. I tried to set the sync for every 15 minutes to at least get it to reconnect that way, but it always resets the sync settings to manual when I go back in to check it. The only app that I have added lately was live search but I don't know if that would effect it at all. I also have installed call block, slick, mundu, im+, spb pocket plus, pocket weather, google maps, opera, spb imageer, resco picture viewer, and total commander.
I was told to look for a new version here that is fixed but I am a little confused with all the different software for different versions. I just have the official 2.17 rom.

I have AIM UK pocket pc software, but i guess due to the difference in screen size the log in window doesn't appear. what app do people use to log into aim on the wizard

Just out of intrest, wtf have microsoft done to messenger mobile?!?! Not only have they hidden in in 'msn pocket' (took me ages to find when drunk), but I can't find a way to make it so it doesn't gimme on screen notifications when I get a new message/contact online. I have about 150 contacts. It makes it unusable as it interupts me literally every 3 seconds when one of them goes online/offline/changes their name/sends me an IM.
Annoying.
I tried to use Agile and it said that all connections failed when I tried to connect to AIM. I am on a Cingular 8125 WM5 and my GRPS is working because I was just online.
Any thoughts?
I don't know if this has already been noticed but if you've got windows live on your device you can also have pocket msn running aswell but dont wanna type up a howto just incase its already done any1 want to know how
is this really possible ?

What do you mean by, "Got windows live on your device"? Is there an app, or are you just using Internet Explorer to browse to http://mobile.live.com

how to: ok i have only tested this on the htc AKU 3.3 test rom but it worked and it seems to left poket msn installed after installing windows live
basically all i needed to do was to enter the windows folder of my device and found a file called INSTMSGR with an msn messenger icon it loaded msn messenger (the old one that came with the device) and pocket msn appeared again in the start menu
please leave feedback on whethere this worked for you tell me your rom version aswell so i know which ones it willl work on and which ones it won't

i suppose using http://mobile.live.com you could have three email addresses going if th need be
Hey a bit side tracking but just want to point out, I've been trying windows live (the app version) on my SPV M3100. And basically it blows pocket msn, the web based Live and in fact any other messenger app out of the water. Its so easy and functional. First time MS got something right in a long while.
Just wish my wifi connection didnt cut off every time the phone went into sleep mode.
If you aint got Windows Live Messenger get it now.
( I should ask MS to pay me for the free promotion)

after fiddling with my old charmer I found an easier way to do it as the other method didn't work
go to windows folder, start menu, programs and set it to show all files the poket msn icon will apear but still won't appear in start menu so just copy and past a short cut to the same folder and voila poket msn and windows live at the same time and this does work
great if you have a personal and business email accounts and you want to moniter them both

I've got a new Sprint Mogul that I'm syncing with Windows Vista Home Premium. I have "Mobile Favorites" checked under Change Content Sync Settings. During synchronization, sometimes all or nearly all of my favorites from the Mogul disappear on both the desktop and the handheld.
This occurs often enough that I regularly copy a backup of the folder on both sides since I have to restore it a couple of times per day. It's pretty annoying, since I really do want to be able to edit, add, and maintain mobile favorites on my desktop.
The behavior is thus far unpredictable and inconsistent. Often I can go several syncs without it happening, then favorites suddenly vaporize. One consistent feature is that only favorites in folders disappear - the 2 that are in the root favorites folder never do. Often, the most recently-used, added, or edited on the Mogul will survive, while the rest disappear. Typically, favorites are safe until I use PIE then are liable to vanish, but sometimes I can use it without this happening.
Does anyone have any ideas what's going on and how I can stop it?

My Mobile Favorites just wink out of existence right before my eyes ... really, I'm staring at my Touch, with ActiveSync cabled in and doing it's thing ... and ... blink ... blink ... blink ... every few seconds another one just disappears.
Very strange.

Sounds like a bug that has yet to be resolved.
Oh yeah, it is also an issue with XP SP3 and ActiveSync 4.5.

I let it do the syncing for me as far as Contacts, Texts, Speed Dials, Web Favorites, etc. The only things I really use ActiveSync for now are flashing and transferring large files to my SD card (music, ringers etc.)
Once you get an account on the site and D/L the mobile client to the device, run it and let it sync the first time to save everything (Contacts, texts, Speed Dials, Pictures, etc. If you have alot of pictures it may take a while or even freeze on you, so it might be a good idea to move the pics to your SD card before the the first sync.
After that go into your ActiveSync settings and set it to only sync files and media (unless you use Outlook at home, then set it for that too). Once done, any time you sync that way, it won't touch the Web Favorites and you don't have to worry about losing them. Another good thing is everytime you soft reset your device, Dashwire does a sync just to make sure nothing is lost. It will also put everything back if you flash a new ROM too. (Of course you have to re-install the mobile client and sign in first, but you don't have to worry about losing your Favorites in the process.)
When ever I click sync in Windows live it comes up as failed. I get my e-mail but my contacts in messenger aren't synced. In windows live on the PPC it only shows 4 of my contacts compared to the about 30 on my PC version.
It's not like I use Live anyway, I'm more of a Yahoo user but since Yahoo doesn't support their ppc client anymore I decided to go back to MSN since my Yahoo contacts are available on my PC MSN.
So, does any one know of a registry hack to uninstal and do a fresh install of Live on the Mogul.

I've been trying to Sync my 311 contacts for the past month, but NO WAY!
also, when I become online, and any of my buddies is online, I will still see them as offline. it's always like this: "0 Online". "217 Offline" (Since the rest failed to sync), even though I'm chatting with some of'em and they are ONLINE.
Note: Synchronizing 217 contacts happened successfully (Once upon the time) and as I wasn't able to wait more than 2 hours, I decided to disconnect and go, when I tried to sync again it failed. also, it failed everytime I tried it before this ONLY half-successful experience.
I've tried to sync using the USB cable which is connected to every available internet ISP. i.e. Dial-UP, DSL, also tried the phone's WIFI, GPRS. all in vain.
I've noticed that - during the sync proccess - synchronizing folders is successfully, also, when I check "e-mail messages" in the sync options, they sync successfully, but the FAILED thing comes along with CONTACTS. also, recently, PERSONAL SETTINGS are failing to sync.
therefore, the help of an expert is needed. as this is a global problem, and I don't think that microsoft will provide us with the solution soon (not in the current generation of software)
another question: when I use resco file explorer and bluetooth, how to see my desktop computer under "my network"?
in other words: is the known lack of profiles microsoft bluetooth stack resolved yet?
I installed the provided DUN profile, but what I need isn't DUN, btw, it also says OBEX doesn't exist when I try to recieve from any normal mobile phone (for example Nokia or so)! is that normal?!!

The folks at microsoft have identified this issue and have found not a solution, but a workaround to this problem. Go to the following website if you want more details.

Basically, all you have to do is switch your live account and thal'll reset all your settings and contacts. Note that this is not a solution but it works. You can connect to messenger and your email account as long as you don't close the application, so if you have enough memory you can always leave it running in the background because if you close it and try to sync again it'll fail

I've faced the same Sync Problem there but now got hte solution & is working fine.
here is the process:
Open Windows Live on your device and click Menu - Account Options. select Switch Account and follow onscreen instructions.
Also Tick all 3 options which comes after entering ur Windows Live ID And password.
Not It Works Fine.

Most often than not, the usage of my Windows Mobile (HTC Trinity) is the GPS function, but more importantly manage and organize my day-to-day activity. And I find it quite often, when my Windows Mobile becomes bloated with software I have installed or becomes buggy, I would normally reset and reinstall the whole pocketpc.
Fortunately, between resetting to a clean Windows Mobile install and installing essential application (Mapking, Skype, Total Commander, PocketCM Contact, PHM Registry, Task Manager) it takes less than 20 mins.
However, when I do a clean install most of my data is deleted especially contacts and calendar. But with the Internet, I have relied on Yahoo and Google to keep my data and manage to sync to data down to my pocketpc automatically with these 2 great software (OggSync, Yahoo! Go 2.0). Too bad, I am unable to install on just 1 single site.
Now I am wondering, besides Calendar and Contacts, is there a software that allows me to manage my Finances and sync with an online site.
Oggsync has been deleting massive numbers of my events off of my google calendar. I think this is due to having recurring events then modifying ONE of the events. Oggsync seems to think.. hell I don't know what it thinks but it deletes ALL of them (the recurring one and the one that's taken out of it's normal cycle)... this sucks...
