Major outgoing call problem - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus General

Less than two weeks in, the touch dual has developed a major fault.
The microphone isn't being connected on outgoing calls, and similarly on receiving calls via the bluetooth headset (Moto HS820), sound isnt being routed through.
Anyone else had similar issues?

I am experiencing the same problem

tried hard resetting it?

It keeps on coming back though after every reset, and to be honest thats not the sort of thing you should have to do for the primary function as a phone.
If it can't make or take calls reliably, then as nice as it is in most other areas, it makes it useless.

send it back to repair :\

Called in at the store this morning, waiting for the network to do a line test ... typical, Oranges systems were down.
Total pita, I work for the company that supplies a large amount of Oranges infrastructure. Once they've got a fault code, it'll be replaced.

Microphone stops when I hit a numberkey if I'm calling an interactive menu system!

Ok, this is a real doozy.
This happened on my original Hermes, and now it's happening on my (three day old!) new one too (just tried to Ring Areti Internet to speak to someone on behalf of one of my clients, and the moment I pressed 0 to speak to someone the microphone seems to just cut out).
The root of the problem is: I can ring a number, whatever, and if I get to a menu system, I tap in the appropriate number to navigate through the system. However, the moment I do so, when I do eventually get through to someone they can't hear me. I can hear them fine, but my microphone has totally cut out - and even trying things like hitting mute / unmute makes no difference.
If I don't press a button, and either hang on until the menu system just puts me through to someone, the mic works fine. The worst thing about this problem is that it's unpredictable; it can happen all the time or it can just happen every so often, and there's no visual or audio indicators to say otherwise that the problem is occurring.
My two Hermes models are quite vastly different in model: the old one was an HT634 and this one is a 643, so the question of the problem being a hardware one spread across several models doesn't apply. This is REALLY ANNOYING, not only does it piss off the person on the other end but if you're stuck in a queue waiting to speak to someone for 20+ minutes, finally getting through and finding that you can't be heard is TOTALLY ANNOYING!
What's even more confusing is this: I thought it might be a permanent problem, so I tried ringing my home phone, then getting my friend to make like an interactive menu system and just say "press 1 to test this, press 2 to confirm that this is a really stupid thing I'm having to do for you, press 3 to confirm that you don't mind me hitting you after we're done testing this idea of yours"... You get the idea. I pressed a button (more than one in fact, the second time I tried it), waited the appopriate length of time that it would take in the real world to get connected, and started speaking - and the person on the landline could hear me fine.
The problem was also present (and intermittent) on my first Hermes, but it was unpredictable. I'm not in a great 3G signal area, and as I look at my phone at the moment it's gone back to GPRS. I also noticed on the MoDaCo forums that some people in London were suffering from problems where they couldn't hear callers, but the person at the other end could hear them fine (they suppose, as they weren't hung up on even though they couldn't hear their caller) - they had to force their phone back to 2G to resolve the problem. However, my microphone doesn't cut out during normal phone usage, so it's just really bugging me that I can't figure out why the hell this is happening!
My Hermes is pretty much stock: T-Mobile ROM, nothing cooked or patched, I just have the odd little bunch of harmless utilities installed: a screen cap application, Map24 Mobile, Microsoft Reader, Media Metrics Meter (usage tracker, you get paid £5 a month for submitting your stats to them so it pays for the Web 'n Walk), Opera Mobile, TCPMP, SMSDRFix, Vibra Switch, WM5NewMenu and Total Commander... They're the only significant additions.
This is driving me nuts! I never had this problem on my old Alpine, though granted it was on O2. I've even had this problem when calling the T-Mobile support line! Which as you can imagine is MOST frustrating.
Anybody have even the faintest idea as to how to solve this problem? It SEVERELY hinders my ability to ring any kind of helpline or support / sales line... And until I found an alternative (direct dial) number to get through to T-Mobile Customer Services, I wasn't even able to ring them!
had exactly the same problem with a Vario II. I couldn't set up my voicemail!
Exchanged unit for a new one and now works fine. No problems so far

Argh... It took me long enough to get this replacement!!! Vario 2s are like golddust at the moment.
What model number is your new unit? Mine is an HT643 (first one was a 634)...

missed calls

hello everyone, I just got the Mogul and Im getting a bunch of missing calls, I found out that whenever the device is powered off (external or battery) I dont receive any calls, I know the phone is ON because the led is blinking but no calls as soon I turn power ON with side button I get the ntification of missed call, is there any setup Im missing or this is a defective phone?
I have treo as well, even the power off, when someone calls everything light up and it rings.
Edit: Never mind the soft reset fixed it, sorry you can delete this thread.
Settings>Phone>Services>Roaming>Get Settings, Make sure Sprint Only is selected.
If you hop onto a different network for some reason, your calls will go straight to voicemail. This is a Sprint problem, not a Mogul problem, I had this issue with my Moto Q.

Bad advice. It's a WM problem, not a Sprint problem as evidenced by a soft reset fixing it.
Yes because everyone knows after a soft reset that there's no way your network will change.
I know that in pigfucker land where you live there's only one cell tower, but in real cities there's multiple towers for multiple carriers. Call ************* Sprint and they will tell you the same thing I did. Turn off roaming and your calls won't go straight to voicemail. Sprint has this problem with A LOT of their phones and that's how they solve it.
you dont have to be so angry about it.
HAHA!
He's got a point. Just because a softreset fixed it this time doesn't mean its a device issue. This has happened with other phones (even non-smart devices) as well. A power cycle usually resets your service with the towers.
Couldn't help but post a reply
After reading the posts, I am still not sure if I understand the problem. Is pigfuckerland the only place where this is happening. Since I do not live in pigfuckerland, would I expect that the Sprint tower problem will not occur where I live. Please be more specific in your posts as I would like to avoid pigfuckerland on my travels. I have attempted to look up pigfuckerland in Google Maps, but did not locate it there. Will try using Wikipedia next to see if a post regarding pigfuckerland has made it online. Thanks for any and all information in advance on pigfuckerland that you are able to provide.
Dragon_76 = dicksucking moron for listening to Sprint and repeating what some CS rep told her
I would recommend you change the call ringer pulling setting from the default 5sec or something lower.
If a caller don't call long enough, you might miss a call.
Having a lot of problems
I'm also having the same problem with my Mogul, but I don't think soft reseting the phone fixes anything, it might fix it but only for a day or so. There has to be an explanation for this issue but I need a solution because it's driving me crazy. In average, I'm missing 2 calls per day and that's frustrating. This problem didn't start happening when I first got the phone, it was after a month or so that it began to happen. I'm not sure if there's an application that I installed that's causing this. First I blamed it on psShutXp, then on WMP because I started using it when I bought a bluetooth headphone, or my 8gb sdhc memory card that I recently bought. Whatever the problem is I need to know please!!!!!!!!!
What Radio ROM are you running? I had such problems with the Telus P4000 which is the HTC PPC-6800 or Sprint Mogul. I am currently running 2.06D and it's great the unit came with 1.32 originally, tried 1.40 and 1.47.01. 1.47.01 wasn't bad but not great, had some luck with 2.13 but found 2.06D to work best. I am interested in the latest rom which here which enables REV A, this may help too.
Hey Duck,
try doing this. I think that was happening to me too when i first got my phone. it is going into like a hibernation mode and like a computer's hard drive it is suspending itself til you wake it up. try going into settings/system/ power management or the battery icon. In there go to advanced and make sure that you unmark the two check boxes cuz you obviously dont want the unit to turn off. I hope this works for you.
A friend of mine had this same problem on his P4000. He changed the settings on his phone so that the screen never turns off. When I found out I told him that was a rediculous solution...he told me a CSR told him it was a fix. I convinced him to do a hard reset and it has fixed the problem. If it didn't, I was going to get him to DOA his phone. Try hard resetting...see what happens.
LOL at you people replying to a post from MAY 2007, 4 rom upgrades later toooooo funny
I'm Having the Same Problem
I live in Puerto Rico a US Island 100X35 and hare we have worlds largest collections of antennas per square mile... I is no a problem antennas....
I have the new Sprint ROM I hard reset the Phone and it works for a Day or so without having any app installed on it... and the problem persist... lot of misscalls and some times no voicemail notifications or miss calls notifications
I read a lot and have a lot of hard times with ****ING MORONS in sprint and the have this strange ****ING useless database with most common problems that the only problems reported are with Java and with Bluetooth so after a lot of reading I found some articles about people saying that they ware trying to make some changes to the Bluetooth and they start having problems with calls notifications... Ummmm Java and Bluetooth may be part of the problems when my phone works better is when I have no Headset and when have no Java appz but Hey is a ****ING PDA Phone I want to use Bluetooth... and Java...
What ever it is the problem I don't Know but is someone really know let me know and please **** Sprint and **** Microsoft jejejeje sorry But I think sprint programmers are a bunch of incompetents in a partnership with the Morons of microsoft... and HTC making thinks without thinks about a simple thing (BUG FREE, LOTS OF TESTING, and SOFTWARE and HARDWARE INTEGRATION)
That is what makes Linux what Linux is GPL good Hardware, Testing and Good Integration....
Bluetooth Problems
I've noticed that the problem with missed calls starts happens a lot when I start using my Bluetooth devices. I have the Motorokr S9 headphones and the motorola bluetooth speaker for my car. If I reset my phone then I'll work fine as long as I'm not using bluetooth devices. I'm not saying there's problems with the bluetooth devices but rather the firmware installed on the phone. Hopefully htc/sprint can fix this bug in the next ROM release which is supposed to come out early this year Please let me know if you are having the same problems when using your bluetooth devices!!!!!! We need to find out what's causing this.

Galaxy Note 3 Phone call issues

Does anyone else have periodic issues where you'll receive a phone call or iniate one and you cannot hear the the person and they can't hear you?
Whats the problem?
Does nobody have this issue?

Yes, this happens when I call my wife but I don't think it's the device
All kidding aside, I have not experienced this issue but to troubleshoot, does this behavior occur when you are calling the same person or with multiple people. Is there just a delay and then say, within 15 seconds or so, you are both able to hold a conversation without issue or must you disconnect the call and phone back. Is the behavior happening when you're calling a land line or another mobile user? If you think this is specific to your device, make sure you have a backup and try doing a factory reset. It's possible you have a minor glitch in the software that's causing some erratic behavior to occur but it's hard to further comment without having you complete some basic troubleshooting steps as indicated above.

It seems to be happening with both landline and cell phones - periodically when sending or receiving a call I can't hear the person and they can't hear me. If I call them back or they call me back it works fine again?
Is this a hardware defect? I've tried taking out the battery, restarting the phone etc.

Have you rooted your device or is it factory? It's possible it could be a hardware issue but I'm leaning more towards the software. I'm going to assume this is happening with multiple calls inbound/outbound and is not a specific instance with a single caller. Leaning more towards a software issue, you have already done a battery pull and rebooted the device and this did not resolve. As an alternative option, ensure you have a backup of your device and do a factory reset:
Settings | General | Backup and Reset | Factory Reset
This should restore the device to factory settings. Test the device now to see if you exhibit the same behavior. If so, I'm assuming it would be hardware related with the software not engaging the hardware properly to handle the call. If so, you have a 1 year manufactures warranty on the device assuming you have not rooted.
Hope this helps!
I'm having same issue worked last night call today no one can hear me. :crying: it's not rooted and 2 days old.
I face similar problem specially in outbound calls
while in inbound calls for the first trial the call fails just 1 sec after I pick up. In the second time it goes normaly.
Any idea ?
Thank you
Still an issue

Was there ever a final resolution to this issue? I am experiencing the same issue.
Inbound or outbound calls are made, connected, but neither side can hear the other.
My phone is factory, not rooted.
I have done a battery pull/reset. That worked in the past. Not as effective anymore.
I have cleared cache through boot recovery. That worked for a wile. Last few times has not worked.
I have done a factory reset. That allowed me to use the phone feature for 3 days!
Any hint as to how to remedy would be amazing!
PLEASE HELP!!

Dropping half of a call?

I don't know what else to call it but lately I've been having issues where I can hear the person on the other end of the line but they can't hear me. It's like 1/2 the call drops. Doesn't seem to be a mic issue b/c it happens over bluetooth, wired headphone and on the device headset. Does anyone else experience this? It's just weird. I'm on AT&T

I've been having this issue ever since I got my phone in November. For me, it's as if the microphone is on the back of the phone. If I'm lying down with the phone between my face and the pillow, they can't hear me at all. If I'm holding the phone too far towards the bottom while talking, they can't hear me. It's so weird. It doesn't happen all the time, but it has happened with or without my phone in a case. Usually the only way to fix it is to hold the phone by the sides and talk directly into the butt of my phone, which just feels weird. And I'm on Verizon in a major city.
On that note, I've also been getting dropped calls which is even weirder. Makes me miss my Moto X.
I have had this problem for many months. It happens to a lot of Nexus 6P users; enough so that Project Fi customer service is familiar with the issue, though not how to fix it. They have had me do an enormous amount of troubleshooting and eventually sent me a new, replacement phone. The problem persists - random, frequent audio drop-out on one side of the call or the other. For example: the person I called suddenly can't hear me, though I can hear them. Shortly after calling them back, I suddenly can not hear them. Tech support now wants me to perform a lot of testing and send the logs to them, so that "I can help them, help me". I am not a beta tester; I've paid $650 for this phone and simply expect it to work.
An additional, unpublicized problem, is a high level of data being consumed, even when on wifi and/or when cellular data is turned off. This has been going on for months and, unless you complain, you will end up paying for data that you did not use. Project Fi has been promising a fix for months; they blame it on Sprint and T-Mobile. Still no fix, still need to call and complain. It's such a common problem that I've been told that they haven't got enough customer service supervisors to deal with all of the ticked off customers. They will issue a credit if you complain, but they won't inform their customer base that this is going on. The lack of transparency and the lack of a fix , after many months, suggests a perverse incentive on their part - they make more money when data consumption goes up. Too bad for the customer.
One last thing: The Nexus 6P is the nicest, fastest, and most elegant device that I've owned. The audio drop-outs are a big problem, however, and I'm pushing for a refund on the device. The data drain issue may be limited to Project Fi users; I've not used the 6P on any other provider and never experienced it with any previous phones, most of which have been Samsung, on Verizon and Sprint. Project Fi customer service is under trained, though very polite and get back to you quickly when contacted. However, they don't seem to keep records of customer issues, so every call has to start from the beginning, even after months of history over the same unsolved issues. You end up having to repeat yourself over and over and over again. I want to like the Project Fi service and the 6P, but they're sure making it tough to do so.

Wow I'm not having any problems besides the random dropped calls that I'm still having. My data is the exact opposite. Sometimes it will cut off, and I would have to restart my phone to get it back. And don't let me leave the state (or country) and start roaming! My data work when it wants to when I'm out of my state (Alabama). This could be a SIM issue, but I'm too lazy to call customer service. I've been having dropped calls at least 3 times a week so I'm use to it really. I hope you get your refund though.

Stock. one of the last few updates seems to have fixed it

[Pixel 4] Suddenly no ringing sound, no notification sound, no sound on speakerphone

It started suddenly after a week on the January update, but I downgraded to Dec update and still have the same issues, meaning it's a hardware defect. Already reported this to google. Anyone else?
Had similar issue
I had a similar issue since yesterday. Tried booting into the safe mode to check if any third party app is doing it( If you wanna try that hold the power button then touch and hold the power icon on the screen). If it still stays it is a hardware issue you need to get it repaired. I just gave my phone to Ubreakfixit
Yes it is a hardware issue. Safe mode, factory reset, downgrading the software did not work.
This just happened to me this morning.
what is going on? this literally just happened to me too this morning. I can make calls via whatsapp/facebook etc, but if I try to call anyone it just says "calling" but there's no sound, eventually it cuts off. If someone tries to call me, the phone doesn't ring and I just get the sms saying there's a message in my voicemail. It says I'm on the 4g network, I can send sms messages and wifi works fine. If I have to ship the phone anywhere I'm ****ed, I'll have to buy another phone as a spare :crying:

Looks like I'm one of the lucky ones. I had to go out and soon as I got to the next town a call came in, so I tested making more calls and it worked fine there. Upon returning home the issue returned. I figured it's gotta mean something is up with my provider or the nearby antenna so asked a few friends who live near me and a neighbour. Turns out they all have the same issue. I'll have to wait it out now and see if they fix it. The wierd part is 4g data and sms work fine and I've still got full signal strength or I'd have assumed that right away.

That sounds more plausible than hundreds of Pixels bottom speaker burning out all of a sudden. When the call supposedly comes in does it show on the screen or just go directly to voicemail? That would be the initial test of the speaker. Does it play music, can you hear notifications? Every once in a while that happens to me and then I just try again a mile or so down the road and it connects fine. If you have wifi calling you can try that too.

No, it was the service provider in the end. My whole town had the issue for a couple days. The company (movistar) have fixed it now so I can make calls and recieve them no problem. To say I was relieved is an understatement.
Bottom speaker broke out of nothing
I guess I'm really unlucky, me and my girlfriend got two pixel 4 in black Friday and both of the phones had the same issue, it started having a crackling sound for a few seconds and then the bottom speaker completely died while in a speakerphone call tried a factory reset with no luck, no sounds comes out, my girlfriend had the phone only for a few weeks when that happened, and in my phone happened last week, now we have to figure how to ship the phone back to the US and try to get a refund, since if it breaks again it would be close to impossible for us to ship it back again

Hello everyone
I own a pixel 4 and it has a constant problem.
after operating normally, suddenly for no apparent reason it loses all sounds and vibrations.
also it is not possible to make calls and freezes in various system applications.
sometimes this is solved with a simple restart of the phone, other times a factory reset is necessary and lately it is required to unlock the boot loader to reinstall the factory image and test with which security patch recovers all its functions and returns to function normally.
It started suddenly after a week on the January update
What would be the cause of this failure in the phone?
At first I reported the problem to google and they indicated the same to most of you; restarting the phone or factory reset and how the method worked no longer insisted.
after the February update its operation was normalized, but with the arrival of the May update the same problem returned.
I had to downgrade to the April update, then to the March update and after several attempts it worked again, but a few days later the problem returns and I have to repeat the process.
What arguments should i use to convince google to change the phone or return my money?
I never rooted

I'm on latest Android 11 DP and I noticed that this release removed a lot of bass from the speaker. I think to prevent the clipping and damage of the speaker.
