Hi,
2nd post Looking for a terminal client (like HyperTerminal) for wm6. have googled for hours and can't find anything.
Reason for it: watching the NMEA GPS data streaming out of com4.
Can't write a program at the moment but do want to examine the datasets.
Any ideas?

How can I programatically initiate a GPRS connection on an XDA (using EVB)?. I have a program which works when the connection is up (started using explorer) but fails when down. Would I do it using the TAPI?
Martin
I think you should have a look at the Connection Manager API.
I don't have any EVB sample code for you, but take a look at the PocketPC 2002 SDK sample CMHELPER usualy found at this path if you have eVC and the SDK installed:
C:\Windows CE Tools\wce300\Pocket PC 2002\samples\mfc\CMHELPER
BTW, you can download the SDK from www.pocketpc.com ...
here is the solution
I also was lookinf for this solution forever and never found it so i wrote the software myself. Here is the dll that you need to connect to the internet through evb it connects to the default connection no problems.

Not knowing anything about C++, is there a simple way to open a GPRS connection with just eVB?
danmanmayer, can you send me the sources?
Or maybe somebody knows URL where can I found info about it?
Thanks in advance
SapphireRAS does all this and more.
Connects/Disconnects via GPRS using eVB or VB.Net

Hi all,
is there anybody who can tell me how i can test my pocket pc application which is a simple webserver, through activesync??
i can get it's IP address (192.168.55.101) but i can't reach it from my workstation, also i have no idea how to change it.
when connect through GPRS all works fine , simply would like to test it from my workstation.
After some research i noticed that it is a pass-through connection and that it uses TCP to do this.
anybody an idea on how to use it so that i can use my workstations IE to show the pocket pc's page on the little webserver i wrote.
greetz,
Marc

i have the same problem. if you find a solution please contact me by email at adrien dot joly at gmail dot com!
Folks, please do follow my articles. I've published several articles on the networking model of ActiveSync, particularly under WM5.
See http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=555&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
Under WM5 / WM6, as long as you don't disable the new AS networking model (it's enabled by default), your IP is 169.254.2.1
hi i need to connect to the console of Windows Server 2003... because every time i connect there is two sessions are ON and eat the RAM

I think what is asked for here is something simular to mstsc /console on the desktop. As far as i know it is possible.

True ... that what i was talking about thanks for making it clear
Having the same question..
Let me try to explain
I have a windows 2003 server at home,
this is also my personal computer, this means it has a nice screen, keyboard, mouse and some nice games on it.
When i`m on a job i connect on my laptop to my ACTIVE console on my home computer, this means i change the shortcut to "remote desktop" and add "/console" to it. Now when i connect to my home server it will take over the active console.
Does anybody know if this is possible on my qtek 9000 terminal services client???
Regards
I am also looking for a solution to this please. I leave one of my servers logged on and need to access the desktop whilst out and about. On a PC i just use remote desktop client with the /console option, but have been unable to find a way of doing this with a pocketpc. Alternatively any suggestions on good fast remote desktop software that works as well as remote desktop over gprs.
oooooooooo
Just before i hit send on this post I thought I would try and find a different approach. What I have found is a workaround that at least lets me do what I need until someone can suggest a way of connecting directly to the console.
You can shadow a terminal server session from another session, including the console. So.... connect to your server using the terminal server client, this will start a brand new remote dekstop. Go to the command prompt and type
shadow 0
This will then connect you to the console. For this to work you have to make sure that you enable permissions for the shadowing to take place. Do as outlined in the following article.
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;278845
look for the bit right at the end that says
To configure the Windows Server 2003-based server to permit remote control, follow these steps:
although change step 7
7. In the Options box, click Full Control with users' permission, and then click OK.
Change it to without users permission otherwise it will sit there waiting for a response on the console
hi
what i want to know is what it is? and how can i set it up...coz i think it will help me surf my pc???
am i right?? if so please help me out here
i have jasjar and wifi at home
You need Terminal Services running on your PC. I don't think Windows Home can do this, but XP can (and can most recent Windows servers). Then you simply put the IP address of your PC into Terminal Services client and log on as you would normally to you PC. If you don't have a static IP address, take a look at www.dynsdns.com
You use it to control your PC. I set mine up last night, I just did a search on google "setup terminal Services Client Pocket PC" For eg: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;314537
I just think that is easier than typing out the whole thing here.
Works awesome, I found that if I had no background picture and the theme set to "Windows Classic" the connection ran alot quicker and smoother.
Terminal services isn't pre-installed on the M5000 is it? if it is where is it?
Found it..... Was skulking around in accessories... wasn't there on my M1000
I have installed Microsoft terminal services but I get the message" 'mstsc' is not a valid Pocket PC application."
Have I installed a wrong version? Where can I find the right one, if so?
I ordered my HTC Advantage 7501, from Amazon earlier this week, and I completely excited. I was wondering if anyone has tried PocketPutty or something similar? First, I would like to know if it works well on Athena, and second is there a way to send F-keys (F1, F2.,. F12)? I need ssh and telnet to connect to my company's POS/Inventory system it would be great to leave my laptop at home.
Hi
I used putty for pocketpc, it does work (I used it over Wifi) but it's painfully slow...
I don't know if I can send function keys (F1 to F12), I didn't need them.
Regards,
Silviu
im using pocketty its pretty good

Hi,
I take back what I just posted: it was just the login that was slow using pocket putty, and it was because of a failed reverse DNS lookup from the server... Otherwise it works perfectly.

Silviu
