Hi all,
is there anybody who can tell me how i can test my pocket pc application which is a simple webserver, through activesync??
i can get it's IP address (192.168.55.101) but i can't reach it from my workstation, also i have no idea how to change it.
when connect through GPRS all works fine , simply would like to test it from my workstation.
After some research i noticed that it is a pass-through connection and that it uses TCP to do this.
anybody an idea on how to use it so that i can use my workstations IE to show the pocket pc's page on the little webserver i wrote.

Marc

Folks, please do follow my articles. I've published several articles on the networking model of ActiveSync, particularly under WM5.
See http://www.pocketpcmag.com/blogs/index.php?blog=3&p=555&more=1&c=1&tb=1&pb=1
Under WM5 / WM6, as long as you don't disable the new AS networking model (it's enabled by default), your IP is 169.254.2.1

Hi, does anyone knows an application like Proxifier but for PPC?
If don't know what proxifier is:
http://www.proxifier.com/
"Proxifier is a program that allows network applications that do not support working through proxy servers to operate through an HTTPS or SOCKS proxy or a chain of proxy servers."
An application like this for PPC would be great as we could use cheap unlimited traffic data connections (WAP) but behind a proxy with limited ports to work with any application...
I couldn't find something like this, any advice?
This is exactly what I have been searching for. Let's keep this thread alive.
Thanks for showing me proxifier. I only knew about Sockscap and Proxycap. If only someone would make a mobile version.
Repost from another thread

ProxyCap now supports WM. It works great, I've tried it. But it's a 30-day trial, and costs $30 to keep.
found a working cab
Hey guys I found a working cab of proxycap.... anyone still looking for it please pm me and I will gladly send it to you...
oh and btw it is preregistered...
Also post a how-to -.- i have been busting my head on how this works for ages...
Hi!
Sorry if this question has already been answered, i could not find a solution to my problem.
I want to access the data on my WM6 Device from another PC in the same network. I know that there are no networkshares available in WM6. But there has to be a possibility to access my data on PPC from a PC over Wifi. I know that i could do it vice versa, but i want to access my whole device via network. does anybody know a solution? Maybe with the help of a ftp software on my device? Thanks in advance!
Push.
No ideas??
Yeah, I was looking for exactly this, but found nothing.
I would also like to know if it is possible to create Shares.
ok, i found a solution.
use a ftp-server program on your ppc and you can access your whole device on an pc in the same network. i use the freeware "Mocha ftp server" for this. you can deny anonymous access and create useraccounts with password for secure and protected access.
hope this helps some people
Is there a working solution for this? cos i've searched the forum and apparently there is none. Can't believe the latest HTC Hero, the best android phone HTC can offer currently, has no proxy setting on wifi. It's like a big joke to me. I wish I had researched before I bought it
anyway, I've tried the "any cut" to create a shortcut to proxy settings and set accordingly, doesn't work.
Please anyone if you have a working solution, please share it with us.
openvpn
http://android.modaco.com/content/software/291919/openvpn-on-android/
thanks for you help.
but I dont think openvpn is the answer here...because in many places (my office for one) you can only access the web through a http proxy server. and htc hero doesn't allows that. not to mention the openvpn thing, which only works by connecting to a certain port which obviously is not allowed in such environment. openvpn can connect to a 443 port too but hey, we need to have a working http proxy first then we can connect using https, and the proxy server need to support https proxy...but that's not relevant here. so i cut the crap.
thanks anyway
any other solution to this android can't support proxy settings on wifi thing?
I don't know if this could work but try to mount the filesystem with write access through adb (I don't know how to do that), find one file that is used as a startup script (I don't know which one is it either) and place the following lines there:
Code:
export http_proxy=http://myproxy:port
export ftp_proxy=http://myproxy:port
Reboot the device, open a terminal (in the device) and type echo $http_proxy and see if outputs what is supposed to. If it does, maybe you're all set and you just need to test the web and see if it really works.
Sorry for not being able to help you with some of the steps but this is my basic linux knowledge kicking in, my android linux knowledge is below basic and I have no time to explore it further at the moment.
I'm curious about the results though .

EDIT: doesn't work on cupcake apparently.
