Worst Program - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I bought the Cingular 8525 mainly as a PIM, and I have been very disappointed in the outlook calendar. I rely heavily on scheduling both at work and personal life, and the syncing of data between the phone and outlook 2003 is the worst. I've tried all the supposed fixes and still have problems. The first problem I had was how outlook would make each entry into a two day event. The microsoft fix help somewhat, but there are still problems. Now if I enter appointments on the PC, it doesn't show up on the device. I should have stuck with the Palm!
Did anyone get the tzmove.exe program to work? I didn't get the dialog box. microsoft programs are crap.

Tasks not syncing OTA

I am using a K-JAM and I'm unable to sycn my tasks OTA with Exchange. We are running Exchange 2003 SP2 and there are a couple other people in the office on the same server running Sprint 6700s that work fine. Any ideas?
My Calendar, Inbox and Contacts work great, and the Tasks box is checked.
Thanks
afaik tasks cannot my synced ota with exchaneg.. google it
I have found mixed messages on this which is why I posted here. Some places say that you only need WM5 and Exchange 2003 SP2. Other places say you need Messaging Feature Pack installed on WM5.
Does anyone know which is true? The option is available on my K-JAM to sync tasks, I just does nothing.
Has anyone here sucessfully synced their tasks OTA?
Thanks
Tasks sync-ed OTA
I can sync Tasks OTA using 4SmartPhone and my K-Jam with no issues. I recently switched to 4SmartPhone from MailStreet (both are hosted Exchange Services). I was NOT able to sync Tasks OTA with MailStreet, so it is most likely a server-side software set up, not a client-side issue, since I have not changed anything on my phone (no ROM upgrades, etc).
Steve
I confirmed with two of my coworkers that they are infact syncing tasks OTA with a Sprint 6700 and JasJar (T-Mobile).
The strangest thing is that we are on the same Exchange server.
I tried a hard rest today thinking that something was foobar on my K-JAM because of all the software, but I am seeing the same issue.
I guess it could be an issue with my Exchange mailbox, but I can't think of any settings that would cause this. I'll try syncing with my home Exchange sever (geek) this weekend and see if it has the same issue.

syncing on two pc's and dismissing reminders over and over..

I sync my Vario on two pcs's: at work using mobile activesync and at home. Somehow I always have all reminders on each pc AND on my device. If I dismiss a reminder on my pda, then sync, I will get the reminder again on my pc. I get very tired of dismissing the same reminders over and over again. Are my settings incorrect?
anyone?
Is Mobile activesync even capable of syncing reminders?
I use a Magician, but I'm also not happy with ActiveSync. Syncing on two PCs often doubles my series appointments. And this *****.
Same problem here (although I sync with only one PC), I get annoying reminders from the PC for passed appointments/tasks that I've dismissed on my phone. I think I should be able to get the Outlook not to remind me, but well, I rather have a few more annoying clicks than to miss any appointments. But it would be great if someone finds a solution to this.
Hi,
I sync with two PC's - Work and Home with no problems at all.
(Active Sync 4.1.0 Build 4841) However - and this may be the difference - I do not use Outlook - I use mNotes to sync with work emails, meeting , contacts etc and use this as the master for all my details. At home I disable all syncing actions and just use it for upadating Pocket Weather, Journal bar and other programs that download from the internet.
I still get reminders etc but only once and only those that are due - it doesn't matter which PC I'm connected too.
Regards,
Chris.
Sometimes I think the not syncing of reminders screws everything up. I don't know how activesync syncs appointments but sometimes I lose appointments. If I change an appointment on my pda and dont sync yet, I will get a reminder on my pc (for the old unchanged appointment). After I dismiss that I think that is registered as a change to the appointment. Since the latest change is now made on my pc, after syncing my old appointment appears on both devices. annoying.
bump. I searched the net and this forum and can't find anything about how to fix this.

Native email client deleting IMAP problems

So is anybody else having trouble deleting emails with the TyTN's PocketOutlook (not activesync because I already have an activesync account)? I use Fusemail, IMAP4, and have the delete settings set to delete immediately.
However, the next time my account syncs all the deleted emails come back. This doesn't happen to emails that I move to another fodler though
WTH????
This is a problem with how MS have implemented IMAP in P Outlook. I dont think it properly supports the Purge command which will remove emails permanently.
So, I guess that means that I gotta use Flexmail then...lovely
well two things, I found that Flexmail didn't run very well on my TyTN. Secondly, I found that by changing the deletion action to returning the mailbox rather than move to next message, I am able to press and hold the scroll wheel to bring up the menu options which is working out for me
Have you tried the new version of FlexMail? Any improvements?
I'm new to WM, so all I used was the '07 version. Functionality was improved, but it really slowed down my unit. Plus, it didn't integrate as well as I would have liked.
I have tries a few tools (sktools, webis tobox) and am not able to find any toll that will purge my acitve sync storage so that I can resync it again.
(I copied a mail form a pop account to the active sync storage and the frmat makes syncing inpossible).
Any smart people out there that know of a purge application for mail (have one for PIM).
PS search does not help much (for me anyway)
I installed the latest flexmail, and it was crap, then on uninstall I couldn't get outlook to work again...wouldn't even start, could be somethin I did....but I would recommend just getting a pop addy, or any other client than flexmail.
FlexMail 2007
I am fairly new to WM and IMAP, and I also had trouble with FlexMail the first couple of times I installed in on my TyTN, but I have just reinstalled it and made sure that I did NOT set it as my default client for Mail or SMS. Seems to be working much better and I am not getting the strange behavior that I had before (ie inability to disable Mail button even in sleep mode, not receiving voicemail SMS notification, etc.)
The one thing that does not seem to be working as advertised is IMAP IDLE mail check. I thought that it would wake up my unit from sleep mode but that does not appear to be happening.
Best,
FlexMail is undergoing a work over and has a beta out that is being looked at by a few beta testers.
It has an issue with IMAP (and a few others)

Short Question:
Does the integrated Outlook in WM5 or WM6 XDA Live support IMAP idle?

Microsoft Outlook Replacement?

Anybody know of a program that is a suitable replacement for Microsoft Outlook which can sync to the Touch?
I'm coming from the Palm platform and the Palm Desktop was so much easier and simpler to use.
I've seen replacements for the Touch contact program but nothing to replace Microsoft Outlook for the desktop.
I'd like to remove Outlook from my computer and find something that would sync contacts and or appointments to the Touch.
http://funambol.com/
There are a lot of other possibilities to replace outlook and/or activesync. But after reading the adventures blog of someone who tried them all out it was very convincing that this is the best. Actually he described 8 different solutions on his blog, most of which I had not been able to find googling for over two days.
For those of you who are still relying on Outlook: it has proven it's reliability to me from 1997 till last week. Then it crashed, refused to open my pst file with all my contacts, my appointments, my tasks and an email archive of overr 3 years. It also refused to start with a backup pst. It also refused to start from scratch with a new profile and import either an old pst or comma delimited backup.
It'll take me some time to recover from this horror scenario
I'd just like to pipe up and say that I'm not a fan of the ActiveSync/Outlook combo either. I always end up with duplicate or even triplicate contact entries. A friend of mine who uses Hotmail as his primary email says he doesn't have this problem, but I refuse to be forced into Hotmail just for this purpose.
If your primary email is GMail, then follow the directions here:
http://www.google.com/support/mobile/bin/answer.py?answer=138636&topic=14299
And your contacts and calendar will stay in sync via Google's own Exchange server. Unfortunately, they don't have Mail syncing via Exchange yet for some reason. But you can set up GMail with IMAP in your Email client, or you can download a third-party push-email software which will allow for a further realtime-ness to it all.
As for desktop software beyond Outlook, I don't think I can make any suggestions, I've been on GMail for a long time now. And even more so, I've been using Android full time for nearly a year now, which is even better than my above suggestions, as long as GMail is what you use primarily.

Syncing problems and appointment deletion

Hi,
I have a problem with syncing and I've put the background to the problem as well as my main question. If you think you can help, go straight to "QUESTION". Thanks.
BACKGROUND
Okay, since the 12th of December I've not been able to directly sync my phone's contacts and appointments (using my phone's wi-fi connection) with my Microsoft Account at Windows Live / Outlook.com. I thought it had something to do with the end of the World, but it turns out it doesn't. E-mail and tasks sync just fine and using the connection steps here, I have a good connection to the Windows Live ("m.hotmail.com") server. My phone is currently running the latest EDGE swift ROM, so Windows Mobile 6.5.
After a little digging and process of elimination (of the ActiveSync errors), it seems most (but not all) of my contacts and appointments (on my phone) are out of sync. Waaaaay way out of sync. I'm talking hours, some of them even days. Hence Live/Outlook.com refusing to sync some of these items. My problem is mainly related to the appointments stored in my phone and those in my Windows Live Calendar.
I've been travelling around the World for some time and I think due to the constant PIM backups, restores and syncs between my phone and Live during differing time zones to that of when the original data (appointments in particular) was created, the phone has juggled these things around so much that they have strayed from their original timestamps. For example, I run an amazing app on my phone called PhoneLog which records SMS messages and phone calls into appointments and puts them in the calendar, timestamping the call and it's duration. Comparing between my phone and Live, one log says a call was made at 12:12 but the appointment in my phone is at 17:12 and the one on Live is at 11:12.
QUESTION
My Microsoft Account has most of my original appointments, as I said, up until the 12th of December. Then because of the failure to sync, no more entries have been recorded online. However, I have them in my phone up until the current date.
What I want to do is delete all my previous calendar appointments in my phone before the 12th so that the problematic items no longer cause a sync failure, allowing me to sync up the new entries I've created since that date.
The trick is, how to do this without deleting in the process, all the new appointments?
I cannot delete all these entries manually one after another from the phone. There are thousands and it would just simply take too long.
Any help on how to bulk delete selective appointments would be greatly appreciated.
