i currently have both the tmobile wing & att 8525, i did a side by side comparison, the tmobile wing's lcd screen is brighter, more vibrant, and seems like it has a better color resolution. the wings lcd is 2-4 times brighter than the 8525 and i have both the backlight settings to max. On paper the lcd/color specs are the same, is there something wrong with my 8525?

if the lcd of the herald has the same connections as the hermes, do you think if i swap it out, the hermes would have that same brightness?
Yes, the above link is the latest version. I suggest trying it before swapping out any LCDs etc.

HI VJ I have a question about LumosIII. It seems that III is the only one that works on the Tytn? If so does it have the switches capabilities built in? Like
-off
-on.
I can't seem to get the switches to work and I don't see a reference to III on your site. Thanks! Great programs BTW. IMHO you are definitely top 10 pocket pc freeware provider/programmer of all time.
Lol. No, no switches, it just toggles.
Load it up, bright.
Load it again, dark.
If you need switches, let me know, but hopefully I'll be purchasing a new phone shortly (I'm thinking Touch), and will then see if I can write a more generic version. Version III was for the Hermes. Version II was for various earlier devices. Version III never got on my website for some reason, I think I thought it was too tiny to bother about!

Can you pleeeeease make switches. I have a mortscript that will turn it off before it starts the camera. Currently if it's off it turns it on instead of off again... Then the cam won't start. Thanks if you don't mind I would greatly appreciate it with a donation for sure? Heck I think I'm going to donate anyway.
IMO version III is the most important because it works on the phone that needs it the most. I think a lot of Tytn users know about it. The wizard screen was superbright. The Tytn not so(without VJLumosIII!).
I'll try to add switches.
I hate using my Hermes without VJLumos. I've been using it for a year now with no adverse side effects, so I wonder why HTC never made the extra bright screen default.

Thank you Thank you.
Yeah I use VJLumos on it all the time. It's a must. Especially coming from a Wizard. Or any other PPC for that matter. I think the switches will come in handy with future Tytn users to come. Since it is such a key piece of software for that device.
Hello friends,
It would be possible create a port the camera G3, used on roms based on G3, to be used on roms based on G2?
How the Pro 2 and Flex roms?
I'm searching the forum but just found the mods xdabbeb's but some do not work in Flex rom.
Thank you for your attention and help.

this has been asked before and it has been mentioned that because of some of the dependency files the g3 camera uses it cannot be fully ported, but I know that there is a dev who is working on it, it may not be as good as the g pro 2 port but the ui does look better and I do like the motion picture affect
I agree. I dont like the G3 camera! I think LG made a ****ty work with it. Or might be better with the laser focus but still I hate that I cant adjust my settings

I will have to disagree. Yes there not as many options as g2 camera but as for focusing and photo quality i find that g3 camera much better. I take very few blurry shots than what i used to on stock.

My phone is the opposite. I guess it's like roms. All devices are different.
Hello everyone!
I've been searching the internet for opinions, watched lots of videos about lg g2 but I'd still like to ask y'all guys about this phone because I may root lg g2 if I buy it and flash cm11 because I'm a big fan of that rom.
What I wanted to ask is; Is this phone really so great? It seems really fast, has good camera, great batery life etc.
Second, is it worth flashing cm11 over stock kitkat rom? Are there any big differences in performance etc?
Third, is there any better "all-around" phone than this one? I mean, I'd buy this phone for about 230€ in eBay and I'd like to know is there anything better than lg g2 for that price?
Next, are there any knows problems with g2? For example, heating too fast, freezes, buttons not working or something similar?
And the last question; Is it possible to make qslide feature compatible with all apps? I mean, I'd be using Chrome and Whatsapp mostly, and maybe Youtube sometimes but I've read not all apps are compatible with qslide.
Big thanks
Cyanogenmod is not good on the g2 all cyanogenmods fault but we do have a few aosp Roms and there good I'm running a ROM called Mahdi ROM it runs great very little bugs

1) It is a great phone (fast, good camera, very good battery life, excellent screen etc).
2) The stock KitKat ROM has advantages over CM11 such as QSlide. Honestly, I think it would be better to flash the Cloudy G3 ROM which is a port of the LG G3 ROM over to the G2.
3) For this price, there is nothing better. You could go on websites such as buysku.com and get a chinese phone but I would not recommend it. Also, you still would not find a phone better than the G2 on there. This is better than the Samsung Galaxy S4. You found it for 230 euros. That seems way too cheap unless it is second hand. Remember, you will want to right variant for your country. If you are in the UK for example (and other countries), you will want the D802.
4) There are not any major problems I have come across. The only negatives would be that the speakers are not very loud. It does heat up but only after a long time of heavy use and that is the same with lots of phone such as the Nexus 5.
5) No you cannot use QSlide with other apps. However, if you flash the G3 ROM (it is a fairly simple process), you can have Split view which allows you to have 2 apps open side by side. These apps can by any apps of your choice e.g. Whatsapp, Youtube, Games.

Exactly what I wanted! Big thanks mate!
I was few hours ago in one of the phone shops and spent some time with G3 and wanted to ask about the split view and you answered my question already hehe. Thanks
I live in Germany. Should I get D802 version?
And abour the G3 rom, is it as smooth as stock rom?
Also, to flash it I have to root with ioroots and flash custom recovery? Could you please give me a link with guide for both?
And, is there a big chance of bricking the lg g2 when I do that?
Thanks!

Yes you will need the D802 (probably 32GB too).
The G3 ROM is smooth with no lag or bugs. It is the stock rom from the G3 so still has the LG features.
You need to root it with ioroot then flash twrp recovery. Then flash the Cloudy G3 1.2 ROM or the Optimus G3 ROM. You also need to flash the kitkat baseband zip. I use the optimus g3 rom by the way.
The chance of bricking is very small. Make a nandroid backup in the custom recovery so if you do brick it, you can go back.

GPS and cell reception are it's biggest weaknesses. Stay away if you value both.
Amazing phone but with two big flaws.
AOSP
If AOSP the biggest concern get the Nexus 5. G2 better slap cloudyG3 on it.
the G2 is a great phone im running the cloudy g3 rom and its pretty nice

The GPS issues were a batch issue. The g2 I'm running now locks instantly and is usually accurate to 10 ft using GPS test apps. If u can get your hands on before you buy it check it and see. Also the g3 Rom is great
I am planning to buy one. The things which matter me most is loudness of in call volume.
I want to know if tje call on the other side sounds loud or not. I heard external speaker phone is weak so thought of checking in call speaker also

The in call speaker is very loud (if you put it on full volume) so it is not a problem.
G2 is great, but not mine.
Be sure you buy the newer version of G2, I bought mine which I think is the 1st batch that have Yellow Spots when it gets warm and grows bigger as the time pass by.

Hey guys, I have to ask:
- Does this device have a bootloader lock such as sony smartphones when purchased from a carrier?
- Is there any sudden death/current bugs/defects I should look out for? (tinted screen, broken hardware buttons, bad touch controls, anything?)
- I see there's unofficial cyanogenmod support, is there anything not working? (gps, camera, nfc? threads don't seem to mention anything broken, is it omitted or there isn't anything to fix?)
- Anything I should do other than read the stickies? Samsung phones have a very important and easily corrupted EFS folder, so I'm on the lookout for anything like this on my next purchase.
Any answers will be greatly appreciated.

If you use autorec it will flash the JB boot loader, and a custom recovery (TWRP) so you can flash ROMs and what not. The only thing I've heard about hardware defects are lines on the screen. Vertical, horizontal and screen spasms altogether. When it comes to cyanogen, I've never used it on this phone. Unless you're one of those must-have-aosp sorta guys, stock ROMs are the way to go. On the other hand, I did use Mahdi for awhile and it was awesome.

It has a locked bootloader, yes.
- Is there any sudden death/current bugs/defects I should look out for? (tinted screen, broken hardware buttons, bad touch controls, anything?)
Yes there is. Check the screen. On some phones, the digitizer randomly stops working. Often occurs after a drop.
Check for something like this or something like this.
- I see there's unofficial cyanogenmod support, is there anything not working? (gps, camera, nfc? threads don't seem to mention anything broken, is it omitted or there isn't anything to fix?)
I wouldn''t say "Not working" as much as I'd say not working properly. Camera performance on AOSP is generally horrible and more often than not, a Stock based rom would be the way to go =)
- Anything I should do other than read the stickies? Samsung phones have a very important and easily corrupted EFS folder, so I'm on the lookout for anything like this on my next purchase.
The G2 also has an important EFS partition. It's not as easily corrupted, but make sure you have a backup of it at least.
Don't drop the phone, the digitzer is glued to the LCD - if the screen cracks, your digitizer dies.

Is it possible to unlock the bootloader?
I'm a sucker for AOSP, do you mean the camera has worse quality (as the stock has more options), or does it randomly stop working? Coming from an i9300 I thought this device would have all the necessary sources available for development, or is LG a bad company towards developers?
Also, is anyone compiling AOSP roms with linaro for this phone?

I'll advise you to go for a Nexus 5, One Plus One or wait for something with tons of development for AOSP ROMs like the two I mentioned.
Also there is a risk of permanent black lines that happens to some G2 owners, its suspected that heat is the cause but if it happens to you while flashing you'll have to RMA the phone.
There is a workaround for the locked bootloader. The camera quality is worse on AOSP cause the drivers for the camera are closed source. Development on AOSP ROMs is slow. Best option is stick to stock or stock based ROMs

thanks for asking this question my friend
i just wanted to add :
- how is the over all experience comparing it with samsung - htc devices , i have been using both of them for a while ( i dont like build material in samsung and update process with htc - i read that lg is making progress in this direction ).
- how does it feel after a while like the size, shape, build quality including overall performance .
im very close to buy one but im afraid a little bit - never owned an lg smartphone.

I am not sure which device(different g2 variants get different roms) you may be planning on getting but already have full official support and everything is working; although experience with aosp is not the best if you get use to the lg stock experience there are actually some great aosp roms(better experience than cm anyways)

I came from an sgs 3 and in the family my parents always getting a Samsung in overall I prefer the look and feel of the g2 but the screen is one of my bad points, it is full glass and very easy to break so I suggest getting a case as a priority and as one of the members pointed out the lcd/digitizer are glued together and it is pretty much impossible to get them separated so replacing is tedious

I came from a generation of small devices since before the sgs3(biggest device I had prior to the g2) I had a lot small devices so getting used to a bigger device was little but difficult but rather quickly and the button placement/knock on and knock code is a great feature and before you know it you will be knocking on all your devices(I spent about a month like that)
build quality is okay for a plastic device it feels nice but it definitely needs a cover to maintain it safe
performance is great, I never experienced any lag; camera took some great pics(in the day because low light performance is bad) and after rooting and installing the modded camera you will enjoy all the improvements in day/low light scenarios; and I use the phone for lots of gaming specifically emulators, so I was able to average about 20 hours a day with heavy ppsspp usage so both performance and battery life are killer
