-----------------------------------------------------------------------
-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

-SlidingSound
\/
-0
-1
-2
-3
-4
(I made my 4th key)

..........in - 4_in
........out - 4_out
(4_in & 4_out sound files are in Windows dir.)
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Do I need a program to get this to work, I think I rember that I did have a program but I don't rember, any guidence?

Any help please? i'm just sitting here waiting for a replay..

No one can help me?

After your hard reset, did you re-install the sound files? A hard reset removes all files you installed on the device.

any answer please? I am just sitting here waiting for your reply...

sorry i posted it last night and did the same thing, sat there wating for a reply, yes i soft re-set it..

I just re-read what you said, "re-install" sound files? you mean put the sound files back into windows dir.?
/edit
I renamed the 2 sounds I wanted to the strings inside the key "2" one of the default key's, idk if that makes sence lol, so there is 2 pairs of sounds sitting in my windows dir. "2_in" & "2_out" it works tho..

Missing Bluetooth icon after using PIToday

Hi guys,
I've been playing with PIToday for a couple of days now but I noticed one thing: My bluetooth icon on the Today screen disappeard after using PIToday. The only way to get it back for me is unchecking PIToday and soft reset. This is a bummer!
I've been checking some sites for solutions but could only find the solution mentioned above and one solutions for a 3870. This was putting a shortcut to the bluetooth icon in the startup folder. In the case of a MDA II, there is no such shortcut possible. I checked the registry and Windows directory but the is no .exe file which will start the bluetooth icon. Only .dll. But I don't know where to point it to. :?:
Any other suggestions? Because I would like to buy PIToday but I still want to access my bluetooth from the Today screen.
Wouter
Even though I am a huge fan of Pocket Informant, i experienced a lot of issues with the PI today plug in and stopped using it. It may be incompatability with other software I also have installed but as well as the missing BT icon it also caused instability (lock ups) and the occassional auto soft reset.
In regard to the missing BT icon though PI today is not the only culprit. Users of Pocket Breeze from SBSH Mobile software have reported the same issue. Only way to restore it is unselect the today plug in and soft reset.

Hi Ednap,
Somebody suggested a sort of sulution for me: Using Zenphone. In Zenphone there is an option to turn bluetooth on and off in a profile. And it seems to work!
It is not the solutions but a least it is workable.
Wouter
hi,
some kind of solution
get the tool "No Plugins today" (h**p://www.ictinus.com/NoPluginsToday/)
install it (of coz)
insert into your registry a new string like this
HKEY_LOCAL_MASCHINE\init\LaunchXX where XX is the highest number of the Launch under INIT (I use "Launch90")
enter as the stringvalue the path to the tool e.g. "\Storage\NoToday\NoPluginsToday.exe" or whereever you have installed the tool
insert a link under \Windows\startup or \windows\autostart (depends of the language) and point it again to this tool. Rename the Link in such way, that it will run last (eg. "XXXNoToday")
ok, thats all, reset your device, and enjoy your Bluetooth icon
It is not a failure by any of the Today-Plugins, which make the icon vanish, it's just a timeout of the btdll, caused by Plugins, which need too much time to initialize itself, so the icon just nor appear.
What does this thing?
after reset it removes the todayscreens, the bluetooth icon appears, and after that the notoday-tool switches the plugins on again.
you need some more time (3-4 secs) after the reset, but, who cares, you got the icon back

Nice work, IvkovicD!
I'll give it a try and I'll post this solution also at the PIToday forum. I'm sure this solutions is a great help for Deje the maker of the program.
B.t.w I tried SnoopSoft Dash Today Advanced today to see if I like it. It is not bad. A bit slow but guess what happens?
My headset profile is now gone! First I thought it was because I had too many Todayplugins but after removing a few and soft resetting it still wouldn't come back. Any suggestions for this one?
Thanks,
Wouter
To create a shortcut to Bluetooth copy the following into a shortcut file (text file with lnk extension i.e. Bluetooth.lnk):
34#\windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,23
and copy it across to your PPC
My headset profile is now gone!
Click to collapse
Might it be that your profile is just gone from the Today screen? Check Settings>Personal Tab>Today>Items Tab and see if Profile is checked.
Hi Mark,
No. The headset profile was not there anymore in the list. I contacted Chris Scott, who makes DashToday and the only solution he had for now, was to uninstall the program.
Not realy a good option in my opinion.... Especialy because I just bought the program because there is no trial avaliable.
For your other solution:
I want to make sure that I realy understand. You want me to make a textfile and name it i.e Bluetooth.lnk. In this file there should be the line:
34#\windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,23
Then copy this file to my PPC and presumably to the startup directory?
Just want to make sure.
Thanks,
Wouter

Copy it to the Start Menu folder. It won't bring back your bluetooth icon back but you will be able to access the settings from the start menu.
Thanks,
I give it a try later.

Hi,
I know this effect. I've have this "vanishing", too, if I install too much today- plug ins. Just grab your favourite registryeditor and delete some build-in today-registry entries for today items, e.g. original-task, or some of the other build in ones. If you need it (I don't believe that , make a backup, but really, do you need them?)
reset your device, the missing plugs should appear again...
Sometimes, the OS just do not display some today-plugins, if there are too much entries into registry, even, if you do not activate them...maybe at MS nobody thought that someone needs more then 5 todayplugs at once...
just joking

Dejan
Hi Dejan,
Sounds like an interesting solution. Want to give it a try but I can't find the path to the right regkeys. :?: Do you know were those keys are to be found?
Wouter
Hi Dejan,
I found the reg keys. (HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Today) and deleted the Task, Calendar and Owner Info keys. Then I did a soft reset but my Bluetooth icon didn't reappear.
Too bad.
Did it work for you?

Need help removing start-up sound

Hello all,
I have searched & searched. I've read the Wiki and found the info there, more than once. I'm just not "techie" and need more details. I absolutely hate the loud startup sound on the AT&T 8525 that came on my new phone.
I downloaded the Resco trial and I've spent hours trying to find the correct file to "fix" but I just haven't been able to find it. I also like the animation, just not the sound. It looks like just adjust the WAV file, when I finally find it on my phone?
Sorry, but any additional help (Step by Step if possible) you can give me would be greatly appreciated. This sound is driving me & my husband nuts.
After much searching and many hours, the Voice Command works great! Very pleased with that, this forum is awesome.
MsGadget
I assume you are referring to the following?:
Disable/change the startup animation or sound
HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimationEnabled - change from 1 to 0 to turn everything off and permanently fix the volume issue.
HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimationVolumn - change from 16 to 200 (higher number = lower volume) to lower the volume to a whisper but keep the animation.
You can also customize the animated boot up by deleting or changing 2 keys. (Doing this does not fix the volume issue)
Delete the WAVFile Key to remove the sound only.
Delete the GIFFile Key to remove the animation only.
Put your own .GIF file or .WAV file on the phone and rewrite the 2 keys (WAVFile GIFFile) to the new file location. i.e. \My Documents\Files\CustomAnimation.gif
It will help us to know where you are getting stuck.
Can you find thw key HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimation using Resco?
Mike
That's what I found, but I can't find the file to change in Resco. I tried to do a search in Resco for the file, but no luck. What does it mean by doesn't fix volume issues?
Sorry, but I've been reading & searching for 3 days now. I'm not the least bit techie, but I love my gadgets!
Thank you!

Ok. One step at a time perhaps.
First you are not using Resco to look for a file but an entry(s) in the Registry. So the first thing to do is to go into Resco and look through the menus for something like "Edit the Registry". I use PHM registry Editor so I'm not sure what menu it's in but it will be in the Resco menus somewhere.
Mike
Download total commander, its free and I know for sure it works.
HKLM is the area of the registry, SOFTWARE is the folder, HTC the next folder and then look for StartupAnimationEnabled
Change the value from 1 to 0, then put the device into sleep for 15 seconds (hit the power button, but dont turn it off) and then do a soft reset.
When it reboots, it will be the way you want it.
HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimationEnabled - change from 1 to 0 to turn everything off and permanently fix the volume issue
Thank you both very much. I'll work on it again when I get home. Wish me luck. Thank goodness for Sprite backup.
Mona
mikechannon & teknics,
I'm so happy, I got it to work. Your step-by-step instructions were very clear. I greatly appreciate both of you taking the time to share the basics of how & where to start.
Most others in this type of forum probably know where to begin, but I really needed the very basics. The knowledge you provided is very valuable!
Thanks again,
MsGadget
Pleased you got it to work - future registry changes will be a piece of cake
Mike
Agreed!
Not a problem, that's why we are all here right?

Wait cursors for WM6

Here is a wait animation package for WM6 with 10 cursors and an install mortscript. Same animations used by Juryduty for his WM2003 cursors. I have 25 of these I've done, this package only contains 10 because they're kinda big.
EnJoy!
Nice! Thanks!
Will this work on WM5? is there a possibility to let this work or a same programm for WM5? please tell me..
Thank you! very nice!
didnt work well on my mogul. wouldn't uninstall, had to hard reset.
for WM5 try here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=317476
this script will probably work for them, but you'd have to edit it if the resource name is different , and rename them 'filename.wait' then zip them to wait.zip.
the resource name for WM6 is 'shellres.96.dll' you'd have to find out about WM5 and make the corresponding changes in the script 'waitskins.mscr'.
As far as having to hard reset, did you mean soft reset? This sometimes happens to me randomly after installing a cab and can happen with any cab. I don't think it has anything to do with the cab, but more to do with the state of your device when you install it.
At any rate all this cab does is copy some files to 'programs\waitskins' (or 'storage card\programs\waitskins')and 2 shortcuts to windows\start menu\programs.
The script uses Mortscript4.01b12. It unzips the skins, copies the selected one, deletes the unzipped files, and tells you to do a soft reset. Thats it. Hardly anything to worry about.
it didnt work well with my very top bar in my today screen. after i installed the cab my clock, speaker icon, and signal icon were messed up. i couldnt change the icon back to the origanal wm6 after i changed it to one of the 10 you provided. after that i uninstalled and it wouldnt go back to the wm6 icon. i finally HARD reset my phone and had a fresh backup from earlier that day. no biggie, i may have installed wrong. i would like to get this to work, i may try again. thanx tho, Jody
The icons problem happens when the file hasn't been signed. I've signed all these and they work on my COOKED WM6 device. maybe your device doesn't like the certificate I used. I really don't know for sure.
When this happens you should be able to run the waitskins program, select CANCEL and this will delete any skins on your system, then a soft reset will get you back to the default thats built into your rom. then an uninstall.
Sorry about your hard reset...but since you just barely did it you might want to test this again and find out if the problem is with ALL of the skins, and weather or not the above tip saves you from another hard reset.
thanks for the feedback and if you test this any further please let me know what you find out.
Joeman
work for me (wizard wm6), but I can't change back to the original one , the cancel just change the cursor to the latest one.
It will be good if you attached more skin here.included the original one.
thank
thanks nice one
I would like to complain because I am an a$$. But I cannot, these are a great choice of icons. Anyone with WM6 aught to give it a try.
Great work!
Finally I tried these awhile back but would not work!! They are awesome! Thank you!
I found the original cursor here.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1451996&postcount=37
& try to change name to "original.wait" then add to zip. after running it's work ,but have error at the top bar icon as oakwestplayer comment.
any comment
nice cursors, thanks
bit off topic, but that m & m dance looks more like "Cool Spot" to me
anyone remember the old megadrive/genesis game.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cool_Spot
ong9:
Looks like the file needs to be signed.
Look for a tool in this forum called "multiple file signer' and use it to try to sign the file.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=306982&highlight=multiple+file+signer
If the file signing failed then try to find the 'file Unsigner', and unsign it then sign it again.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329160
This has worked for me.
The multiple file signer lets you choose from 3 different certificates, if one doesn't work try the other two.
If this doesn't work for you then I don't know what to tell you.
Good luck!
Joe
BTW Funy yes that IS cool spot, (LOL) I didn't even notice the .GIF name but in the package I've called him COOL SPOT! Guess that's why I've seen that animation with the color changed (green blue etc.). I don't even think it looks like the M&Ms (must be the sunglasses), that's probably why I didn't make the connection. Good eye!

Disable WM6 Startup Sound

I auto-soft reset my Touch at 2 am.
When the title screen for WM comes up that music wakes me up...
How do I disable the WM6 Startup Sound?
Thanks!
I found the culprit = PhoneOn.wav.
I tried deleting the Key for the .wav in HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\StartupAnimation
but did not work.
I also tried to delete PhoneOn.wav with Total Commander but its protected from deletion in some way....aaaaargh!
Please help
I would like to no how to. I do the same thing.

Are the registry edits you making actually getting written? Are you powering off the device after making the edits or just soft resetting?
Verify that the changes are made after booting by reviewing the entries again.

Slim,
I rebooted and the entry is getting written. I then soft reset and that darn music is still playing -- are you on a Touch (Vogue)??
thanks
This worked for me
This is what I just did, seems to work fine.
1) Use Total Commander to search for the registry key which contains sound_on.
or browse to
\HKCU\ControlPanel\PhoneExtendFunction\CDMA\FlightModeOnOff\Sound_on
2) Change the content of that key from "SoundOn.wav" to "silence.wav"
3) Done.
I now get a nice and quiet soft reset. I'm using the HTC Touch / Vogue.
Leon.
Sorry dude, I am using a Tilt. I pulled the reg keys from the ROM kitchen I use to build my ROM; however, I HATE the stupid startup animation and sound, so I never cook it in to my builds.
The calls for your startup animation must be somewhere else.
Try ibloo's solution...I will look around a bit and see if I can find out why those reg edits I suggested don't work for you.

FOR HTC PURE,
Here is how to replace the annoying AT&T startup noise with any sound file of your own choice:
Edit the registry at following location:
[HKLM\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation]
Change StartupWav to any other wav files.
Remember..
When you are making changes to the registry...
-exit the registry editor
-give it a good 10 seconds or so, then hit the power button (to blank the screen). This allows the registry settings to bake/get applied.
-Then, do a soft reset.
Else.. if you do it too quick, the changes may not apply/stick.

Hi Chemist
Found this one but what I really want is NO sound at all. How do I achieve that? Can I just remove the reference to the existing .WAV file or do I have to replace it with a .WAV that is empty, ie, no sound? If that is the case do you know where I can get hold of one or how I could make one?
Thanks in advance.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\HTCAnimation]

Sliding Sounds For The Xperia X1 ?

hey guys , with the illuminator program i made some fancy visual effects when i open my keyboard for the X1 but other WM phones also have sound effects ive fiddled around with it a bit but couldn't yet get it to work.
i wonder if any 1 would wanna help me figure this out
i set up the registry directorys and entrys properly ,
sound files properly
and set up the HTC program with manages the sounds , all ok , but the device fails to make sounds when opened/closed
here are some stuff i came across and is worth to read if u decide to give it a shot or jump in
installing the program will set up most of the registry for u
http://pdaphonehome.com/forums/652344-post29.html
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=336740
EDIT :
BUT this program turned out to work after proper settings and Soft -reset

HAVE FUN
update :
some cool sounds for ya guys , check attachments also , mentioned threads
can't understand - can i do sliding sounds ONLY by fixing registry?
sliding out sound works perfectly, however the slide in causes an error.
not bad, but if it worked perfectly it would be better.

be sure to un-check "run program" box in the program , it gave me an error too at first , but after setting it up and soft resetting , its all good
@Ethermind
from my experiance u can only tweak it with registry when the device has it enabled by default
u gotta use the program in the last link of ur device doesnt have a sound like that naturally (like x1)
this is already out for the X1 i made a thread ages ago about it and it works great,
i even uploaded many sounds so why has this thread been made without searching first??
if you search slider sounds or even threads ive started you will find it, there is a cab file for this.
sod it here is the link to my thread and the location of the cab file needed for slider sounds install and also new slider sounds,

yea i know i found it by searching but in this thread its more all here in 1 place , and if some 1 needs it and the new users dont know about it anyway
Note that when you go into the X1 camera app, it'll make the 'slide out' sound as the screen orientation rotates to landscape.
Further more, it'll 'slide in' when you exit the camera app.
