Since I upgraded to WM6, and I remove the battery the clock resets to 12:00 in February 2006.
It's weird, also the Activesync connections and GPRS connection settings and WIFI settings are also gone after switching the battery.
Any work around this?
try this
had this problem with the time with wm5 & wm6. found this patch on htc site & now my time is alright after installing this patch. activesync/gprs/wifi settings were fine for me though.
from htc site:

Patch for Resolving Time Setting Loss Problem
After removing and then reinserting the battery in certain devices that run Windows Mobile 5 or earlier version, the time setting is lost and reverts back to the factory default setting. If you encountered this problem, please download this patch and install it on your device to fix the problem.
works on wm6 as well from my personal experience above
I'll give it a go!

Hi,
I've had Hermes for almost a year now and successfully connected it to my laptop via USB. A few weeks ago it suddenly stopped connecting, not only ActiveSync, but USB Modem/Internet Sharing too.
I sent it to HTC Support, but they said everything is OK. Suprisingly, when I got it back it worked. Then, about a week ago the problem occured again. ActiveSync's not working, so is Internet Sharing.
I tried almost everything, resetting the laptop, soft/hard resetting Hermes, disabling advanced network functionality, reinstalling ActiveSync and using AS 4.1 - 4.5 beta, disabling firewall, etc. All I managed to get is some random ActiveSync connections lasting about 5 seconds.
Now, I've read this thread, but I haven't been using Scarybear, Memmaid, Sktools or any other similliar programs so I don't think this concerns me...
Anyone had same problem and found a solution?
Also, there is this little bonus problem. Everytime I make a phone call the phone goes to silent mode. This isn't such a big problem since I'm using SPB Phone Suite and quickly set the default profile back, but it would be nice if someone could help me solve this problem.
Here are the ROM versions on my device, should it come useful...
ROM version: 2.11.255.1
Radio ROM: 1.38.00.10
ExtROM: 2.11.255.102
Similar problem, possible solution
I had experienced a somewhat similar problem. All I did was to reflash a new ROM (now using WMIV Black 3.01) now everything is OK... though haven't tried it with SPB.
Hope this helps
I've flashed the ROM to AKU 3.3 right after it returned from tech support and it didn't help. Haven't tried WM6 though...
Okay, so my Hermes is acting up. I'm on Shamanix's 3.62 ROM, radio 1.54.30. Everything works great and I can get programs like HTC weather to hit the net, Avantgo, or any other programs at any time to hit the net when I'm connected. But when I start IE it shows at the bottom of the screen where it's trying to load, but instead of the KB number going up, it stays at "0" and the page never loads. No matter what site I try, it never loads. I have done I don't know how many soft resets. I use the "disable" and "restore" cingular proxy cabs when I hit wifi networks, but that's definitely not the problem. Over media net, I can log into MSN messenger at any time and it works great. If the proxy isn't enabled, I get a message saying I can't connect to messenger. I don't know what the deal is. Any ideas? I've searched through everything I can find to try and figure out why IE won't load!! Thanks!!
Same problem here...no internet through PIE. Media Net screwed up? I am on F-32 WM6.1 rom. PIE ran fine for few weeks then just died....

That's how mine has been. It happened earlier this week, and somehow PIE came back after several soft reboots. If anyone knows how to fix this, short of reloading the rom, I would definitely appreciate knowing. Thanks!
Hey all,
Try the following...
1st, backup up your device using SPB Backup or Sprite.
Next, do a hard reset.
After your device reboots from the initial setup, try using your wifi to connect to the internet.
Now try IE...
Does IE work? If so.... it's just a settings issue in your Connections settings.
Restore your device using the backup created in step 1 if you want to get back to where you started or just setup your Hermes again from scratch. I know it's a pain in the butt but it does solve the issue
Good luck
No need to Hard Reset. I can connect fine with wifi...just not through media net for some reason...No settings where changes, it just quit one day. Since then I have tried all sorts of different connection settings. I can get my email without any problems, but can't connect to any websites under PIE.
Okay, it definitely has something to do with using the disable cingular proxy and PIE. I have hardbooted my hermes, reloaded the ROM, and everything worked great over medianet. Then I just tried the disable and restore cingular proxy, and the issue just came right back!!! Man, if anybody know whether there's an issue with those two programs, please let me know!!
Hi, i have a problem, when my device is booted and i connect to the internet, services.exe crashes. Afterwards everything works normally.
Anyone knows how to fix it?
Hi Shiverox,
Do you use the autmatic Internet Connection Wizard after you has calibrated the touchscreen? Maybe it helps, if you hardreset your Touch HD, and when after a while the ICM starts again, say "no" (disable it) to automatic configuration, and type manually your Internet connections from TM within the connection settings.
btw: at HTC Homepage there is a patch too, for faster resolving screen taps.. (But that is a other prob)
Sure that this will help? I have the same Problem...
Used the Wizard for my T-Mobile Germany Internet Settings....
Patch from HTC

Cheers mate....
yes, the patch is for a other problem.
At my Side it helps, to hardreset my device and "dont" use the Internet connection wizard. No service.exe problem since that... Maybe that is a other problem and I have only luck?

Hello, is there a way to keep wifi on while device is sleeping?
i use active sync over wifi and i dont receive new mail notifications while screen is in powersave.
i use wm 6.1 coocked. i have seen this behaviour in all roms tried. even original wm5.
tia
Schaps's Advanced Configuration Tool (last versions) in: Menu->Connection settings. I used this once, but battery was dead in short time.
Thanks 4 the info, found it!
However, wifi is still halting when device enter stanby.
I doublechecked settings.
The device got extremly slugish when option is true.
tried reflashing 2 wm6.1 roms but they behaved the same way.
Did i miss something ?

i use it for business and we have a own application that connects the companyserver every 5 minutes to check if there is a new order to work at a customer (filed service).
The HDSPA needs much power so it is annoying that it is a MUST to disconnect manually Before we used a hw6915 - got some other bugs but disconnected itself also after a exchange-sync.
Is it a know bug from the ipaq or WM ? Any idea of a fix?
THX alot.
google 4 wm5 gb-soft-tweak then on device sttings/sys you will find an icon that will let you disconnect gprs at a set time
also you will get more disconnect option
this app is a set of tweak that can be done manualy but i recomend using the app
Thanks this tool is a good solution. So its a ug of the 614c or does it belong to WM ?
Thanks

I haven't seen any wm device with such "interface " (I have seen some devices )
anyway it isn’t the ipaq 614
this tweaks go all the way back to wm2002/3 and are well known
don’t forget that if the timeframe of connecting/disconnecting is to small you will lose more battery establishing connection when you sync
you may also have bugs that may prevent reconnection but will not effect existing connection (you can google for sync problems …)
from what I have tested on my devices the effect of such disconnect on battery life can be neglected
the timeframe between sync is the more effective VAR that can be changed
anyway you got what you want and that is the important part
Btw- from what I have noticed some tweaks are done just because "it can be done"
As 4 your problem if the app that you use have nothing 2 do with activesync (stend alone) then go to start/programs/activesync
Then enter schedule and set it to manual
This will save battery
I had an app called GPRS OFF which worked great , can't seem to find it anymore ..
