If you are already connected to a WIFI router the phone should not disconnect even when other WIFI networks are detected.
MSN messenger and Hotmail can be accessed using the preinstalled "Pocket MSN".
Hey guys,
Does anyone know how I can auto-connect to any (unprotected) wireless network available?
Greets,

I have a bunch of wireless networks that I can roam through and want to auto connect to any unprotected network. I have a list of SSID and/or MAC addresses for my networks. Any ideas?
i would also like to know if ther eis any way of doing this !!
thank u
and me! I've tried a few wm5 options but none work with 6.1
I'd like this as well
wefi from http://www.wefi.com/ does just that, connects automatically to the strongest network, with internet connectivity test. Freeware.
Whats up im delineator, this is my first post. I have been trying to get my htc touch by sprint to connect to my wireless router. I went to the connections icon in the setting and setup my work connection to use a proxy server, which i put in the IP of my router. I'm not sure if it worked, the speed seemed to be a little faster but i did a test and turned my wireless portion of the router off and I was still able to connect to the internet through my phone, so I guess its still using the sprint evdo network instead of connecting thru my router. I tried to turn on my WLAN but that doesnt seem to be working. I was wondering if someone had some answers for me, thanks!
there are 2 versions of the touch.
elf and vogue.
the elf has wifi, the vogue doesnt.
the vogues has more ram and rom.
Sprint Touch doesn't have wifi
Can the G1 detect and connect to Ad Hoc WiFi networks? My router is fried, and there are no open networks nearby with strong signal.
I made one under Linux and another one under Vista, the device doesn't see both and entering it manually does nothing.
I suppose it can't see AdHoc networks.

I believe that it CAN detect ad-hoc networks.
I setup an ad-hoc connection from my pc, and it detected it, but there was no network activity. I probably did something wrong, but, I am not sure why it didn't work.

I use USB Wi-fi adapter for wireless connection and I need to say that G1 don't allow to use adhoc connection, it need only wifi router.
Some month before I see the answer from T-Mobile support that G1 can't use adhoc connection.
It's sad, bcoz my last WM phone (Tytn) has no problems with adhoc connection...
Alas I feel your pain. I use adhoc for my iPhone frequently because at school I can only jack into an ethernet because the WiFi is protected. But my G1 can't so I am doomed to EDGE when i'm in my mom's classroom after school

is this a software issue that can be fixed or is it a hardware issue?
Software. In fact the phone can MAKE ad-hoc networks that other devices and computers can see and join. That's how WiFi tethering works. You can start a wifi tethering app and use the ad hoc connection it creates, without using the cellular tethering at all, or you can examine the tethering scripts and extract just the part concerning the wifi.
I experimented a bit, and was able to change almost everything needed to share Internet from the PC to the phone, except default gateway on the phone...
Noone wants to help
I guess everyone who has an unlimited data plan thinks "Haha stupid stone age idiots want adhoc HAHAHA" . Damn it. I live in a stupid country and I don't have an unlimited data plan. I want to connect to my laptop's wi fi. Please anyone help!!!
Here's the solution

The important part is to tweak the windows part - you need to tell the broadband/adsl internet connection to share itself to the Private wireless network (the network manging your Wireless adapter). If you are having trouble with the windows part (say you connect and have full bars on the phone but no access to web) google ICS (internet connection sharing) in windows and you should get it working.
Hello everyone
I know that there is an option to use pocket controller through WIFI,
I would like to know if is there any option to connect my device through the internet (HSPDA OR GPRS)? I tried to do it without succsses.
I want to locate my device in some place and to use his camera from my home. - like a hidden camera?
I think pocket controller can be a good software for this but i dont know how connect my device through the internet. Is someone know? Maybe is it possible with other software?
thanks
Ofir
You might be able to do it with http://www.mymobiler.com/ i think you can connect to it via wifi.
Wifi isnt good
I want to do it through internet and not through wireless network...
if your isp don't block the ports used then it's 100% transparent if your device is connected to wifi or 3g/gprs
How can i know if the port is blocked?
Is there specific configuration that do i need to do?
Because i didn`t succssed to connect my device through the internet ip?
there are sites you can google which show you which ports your isp blocks
or you can contact your isp maybe it's even on their site
doesn't matter if your telco don't even have firewall, you still can't connect from the Internet because you cannot see a private IP from outside.
the software must initiate the connection from your phone, so your telco will know where to forward the connection back to your phone, like msn remote assistance.
