Jabra BT8040 Review - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Accessories

I, like many others with a Kaiser, was sick and tired of the terrible Bluetooth quality on this phone. I have gone through 3 other BT headsets before landing on the Jabra 8040
1. Samsung WEP-410 (it was so-so)
2. The Jawbone (terrible fit and terrible volume but less static than 655)
3. Plantronics Discovery 655 (wow this thing snap crackled and popped to no end)
Main Review:
This headset is simply amazing.
I had the problem of static and crackle all the time in my previous headsets and it was so annoying. I did a lot of research before landing on a new headset called the Jabra 8040. I kid you not, this is the best BT set I have ever used. It sounds even better than the Jawbone. No crackle or static. I can leave it in my bedroom and walk to my kitchen with no problems. It has built in DSP, Shock Protection, and A2DP. Yep it has an audio profile setting. Now, of course a stereo BT headset is going to sound better, but this is still pretty cool and I have found myself using it a lot when grocery shopping. Just remember, if you buy this, it has a protective clear cover over the speaker. You need to take the ear bud off and remove the clear cover sticker. If you don't, it will sound terrible.
This headset has been Tested on Alex's v4 Ultra Clean ATT and Q-Mobile 1.2. I am not sure if Alex has the BT Fix in his rom and I know Q does. Either way it worked great on these 2 roms. I will post the BT Hot Fix below just incase anyone who reads this review has not tried it. It has been reported to help with dropped calls and some static and crackle.
Features:
- Auto pairing
- Answer / End call
- Voice dial
- Last-number redial
- Reject call
- Call hold / Call wait
- Mute
- Play music
- Quiet mode (turns light off after 1 minute)
Pros:
- Very nice look and build quality. Very small.
- Fits in ear very snug (Comes with 6 extra ear buds)
- No need for an ear hook. I tested this by head banging while running up and down the stairs.
- Wonderful sound quality. If you're sick of your BT headset always crackling and popping, definitely get this.
- Being able to set my phone down and walk around the house while on a voice call is so nice. It has up to a 33 foot range.
- A2DP Profile
- MultiPoint connects up to 8 devices - 2 at any one time
- Bluetooth 2.0
- Edit: I forgot to mention the battery life is rated at 6 hours talk time. 200 hours standby.
Cons:
- I'd like it if the ear bud went all the way inside. Kinda like Sony's ear buds.
- Even though it is just Single Ear A2DP, I think a tad more bass would have been nice (Or the Sony style ear buds would also correct this)
- Louder than the Jawbone, but some still may feel it could be even louder. (I don't, though)
- The price is a little steep. I paid 79.99 at my local AT&T store.
Rating: 9.0 out of 10

Thank you for this great review

Jabra 620s
I am very satisfied with these, especially after tweaking the bluetooth on the HTC TyTN II with KaiserTweaks!

AT&T is offering a $30 mail-in rebate on the 8040. Go to their website to print off the rebate form. Offer is good on purchases between 11/4/07 and 1/19/08.

Thanks for the review. I went ahead and bought the 8040. Great headset. Just one question... Do you have an issue re-connecting the headset after switching it off or re-charging? I cannot seem to do it. I need to delete the pairing and pair it again. Not too sure what is the issue.

Solved the problem. I realised that I had needed to "reset" the headset to wipe off the original pairing, delete the pairing info on the Kaiser and repair again as if starting from scratch. Now it works perfect. Love the 8040!

I'm glad you like it

I must concur....this is a great headset for Kaiser.
I've tried a few others, but I am truly pleased with the performance of this little headset. Amazing range for such a small headset and pairs instantly. Sounds quality is great as well. I definitely recommend the BT8040.

One problem with the Jabra 8040
I have been using this headset for the past week and love it more than any other. I've had Plantronics, Southwing, Motorola, and Jawbone. The only problem that has came up is when the Jabra 8040 is in stereo headset mode, call waiting cannot heared on the phone or BT. The screen will show a call coming in but no sound notification. I am running Alex's 6.1 Home Open Beta. This is happening on 2 of my friends ppc's also running the same ROM. From what I understand it's happening with all stereo headsets running WM6. Clarity has not been any different than the Jawbone. I would definately recommend it to anyone. I get a solid 5-6 hours of streaming music and voice calls. Volume is great with WM6.1.

Thanks ericc191 for the excellent review. I'm thinking about picking one up and you answered my questions except for one...can anyone confirm the BT8040 works with M$ Voice Command 1.6? Specifically, I would like to initiate VC with the button on the BT8040 like I can with my JX10.

i would like to know if it works with voice command too

VC 1.6 with Jabra BT8040
I am using the Voice Command 1.6 with this headset and have not been able to initiate VC from the headset. It does interupt music and annnounces the message which can be annoying if you text alot, but nice to have if your hands are tied up. Checking the "only during free time" box did not change the announcement function. Other than that, not being able to initiate from the headset is probably my only complaint. I believe this feature worked on my Jawbone before I sold it, but don't remember. Still would recommend to anyone and has great volume. Hope this helps!!! If anyone has a fix, please help.

I've had no problems initiating VC from the headset. Just hold down the button on the headset for a couple of seconds. VC should start up. If that does not work, delete and re-pair the headset and try again. This may fix it.

Also, wait for the second tone before releasing the button, then wait for the MSVC "ding".

Thanks everyone...I'm going to pick one up tonight.
New2tilt...if you have the stock Tilt ROM with Cyberon VSD (thx jakirkla), have you tried the registry hacks here?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=998205&postcount=9
I couldn't use my JX10 to initiate VC until I applied these changes. Now it works like charm.

No registry hacks needed. Worked out of the box for me. Has worked with several different ROMS too, just make sure that Cyberon VSD is not installed. It can conflict with it.

Do you get in coming call announcements throught the bluetooth headset?

Not getting incoming call announcements?
I bought the 8040 yesterday, and have it paired with my T-Mobile Dash (HTC Excalibur) and am not getting any incoming call announcements like I did with my old headsets. I get the generic ringtone, but no Voice Command announcement.
Anyone else having this problem? I need the number or contact announced when people call...
BTW - Voice Command works fine when calling out, all I do is hold the button until I hear the beep.

Try turning off A2DP... that works for me.

How?
Thanks Nik, what do you mean by "disable A2DP"? How do I do that?

Help with Bluetooth Headset!!

Sorry if you have already read this but I am still having a problem!!
I got the new Bluetake iphone mini stereo headphones for christmas and was hoping to use them with my MDA Pro (running the new O2 ROM).
I have them paired as a "Hands Free" device...
I know that I can't use the stereo features until the new A2DP patch come out (hopefully soon!), however what I want to be able to do is use voice command to initiate calls etc. However when I press the call/power or Play/Pause button all I hear is a beep from the headset and nothing hapens on the PDA...
However I can use the button to answer and hangup a call (as long as I answered it with the handset...) If I initiate the call on the MDA then I can't hangup with the headset...
Am I doing something wrong or does it sound like something is faulty??
Any advice?
Thanks
Andy.
I actually had an oportunity to try out the voice levels and sound is awful! I also tried to connect it to my SE T610 and it refused and it did the same when I tried to connect it to my Toshiba M200 tablet PC as in both cases it never asked for the passkey...
I am begining to think that they must be faulty??
But becuase I have never had a BT headset before so I'm not sure if I am doing something stupid!
Andy
I have managed to try a SE BT headset with my MDA Pro and it did work and activate voice command. So it would seem that the headset is faulty. Does anyone have any ideas before I send it back?
Andy
Please!! Is there anyone here who can comment on whether they think these are broken or if I am just incompetent!
If they are broken then I need to send them back really soon...
FWIW, my Jabra BT330 and the SE HBH-662 just need a single quick click to activate the voice dial, but these Plantronics Pulsar 590A things I just got (which are fandabidosi by the way!) need a prolonged press to do the same.
Have you tried keeping your finger on the button for a while?
Ferg.

Just looked at the instructions for the bluetake i-phone (bt450rx),
(got them myself for xmas)
and it does not say that you can connect to the phone for voice control,
however you should be able to hang up from the headset.
i have got the k-jam (wizard) and can dial from the k-jam and hangup from the headset.
voice control may not be available because the new bluetooth stereo headset's are ready for AVRCP (Audio Video Remote Control Profile).
the older bluetake headset bt420rx can be used for voice control but do not have AVRCP function.
I hope i am wrong, but it may be the answer you have not been looking for.
Hmm... That sounds bad...
I only have a few days left to return it and don't know whether to get a replacement or to go for a different headset?
i like the idea of being able to play/pause/f-foward/rewind via the headset(when bt v2 upgrade is available), because music playback is more important to me than voice dial.
of course if you can send it back, then perhaps just wait until bt v2 is available, and then buy a headset for the uses you require it for.(wish there was an emotion with cross eyes) LOL
I know what you mean but I would still be able to use voice command!!
Does anyone else have the 450Rx and a universal and could test it for me?
if you do prove me wrong (and i hope you do) please let me know.
answering this problem further,
the bluetake i-phono mini headset cannot be used for voice command,
however the motorola ht820 can be used for voice control.
Had similar issues with my headset (not the same type). In the end, I had enable secure mode on the universal, pair the devices, select serial port and then immediately initiate the voice dial, otherwise it didn't work.
Gareth
I decided to play it safe and returned it back to Expansys for a refund. When someone else gets a set of stereo headphones and A2DP is out... and crucially they can confirm it works! Then I'll buy a new one!
Cheers
Andy
one good thing with motorola ht820 is that they can be used with a detatchable cable, so whilst i'm using them bluetooth for the phone side, i can still hear good quality music.
also i know from trying them with my wife's qtek s110 that you can control windows media player as well.
you may have already tried this, but just in case you haven't,
install and run the three files for either "bt off", "bt on", or "bt toggle",
this will switch all audio to the bt headset or away,
of course quality is not good, but at least no cables.
ps. if the headset is switch off and you put bt on, you will get an on screen error message.

Do they come with this cable as standard?
EDIT: Did a search, and they do.... might just buy them now and sell my Sony EX-71's.... would they we at least the same in terms of sound quality? It's the thing people talk about least with these devices!
So lemme see if I got this right.... even before I get A2DP installed on my Exec, I can listen to perfect music using the cable, and also use the hphones as a bluetooth headset as well? Will the music still pause etc when a call comes in?
Just bought a pair of HT820's on Ebay there.... £38, not too bad. Should get about £25-30 for two pairs of existing headphones, so well please.

Bluetooth Issue with new JasJarROM

Has anyone tried to pair the new ROM with any inbuilt in vehicle systems, I tried to use this with my Audi, and the device pairs OK and connects but then after an outgoing call is ended the Voice dial software starts up and wants me record a voice tag...most wierd.
On incoming calls the device complains that the "phone is busy we can not record" before routing the audio to the speaker of the device and not the hansdfree.
Just wondering if anyone else had seen similar issues with this or any other type of BT car kit?
Tried it with my Wizard and don't see any issues!
BLUETOOTH STACK
BLUETOOTH STACK IS HORRIBLE.... I have problem with my headset (jabra bt 800, no caller id, sometimes bluetooth off, ...) and with bluetooth mouse (thinkoutside, the pointer is slowly and i can control the pointer). I don't understand how a 1000 € phone has this problem.
I know its not a factory fit piece of kit, but mine has worked flawlessly with my Parrot CK3300 on handsfree and GPS
with my Pioneer DEH-P70BT don't work

Lord Buckghingam
I have partial fix if you have c6a6 (mine is june 2005 made) 2006 MY.
All the people here will clamor to say that it works with this and works with that - but what they dont know is that most of the aftermarket kits will do headset profile, not handsfree profile.
What fix i dont have is BT switching itself off - have used Buzz cab - but doesnt work.
If I donot allow my Jasjar to sleep - it works flawlessly (but drains out in 12 hrs)
And why the fxxx this site has gone horrible? Somebody said that all pics are now port 81? Who in the right mind will do that?
Moderator - most of the offices firewalls have port 81 blocked - mine is too (we are proxied)
If you want this site to be somewhat useful - the icons should be on port 80
Latest rom fixed bluetooth switching itself off
yes i have the same problem with parrot ck3100 , it´s a problem with sincronicing contacts...
where the fix on Buzz.
Regards.
I'm still experiencing the BT shutdown by itself occasionally. During the last few days, at least 5 times it shuts down unexpectedly.
in my experience only when enlaced with ck3100
BT switching off is not fixed.
I can replicate this problem - if I remove any power saving - BT worlks. If I put pwer saving at 3 mins - exactly after 3mins - BT icon is removed from my Audi. Same in my BMW.
If I get a call, 30 seconds in a call - BT is switched on and call is transferred back onto the the car. But the call comes onto the phone and I have to pick phone raditional way - not by car.
Sorry for you but my jasjar with latest italian rom does not turn bluetooth off. Tested working with my headset handling incoming and outgoing calls, for more than 60 houres. With original rom did not last more than 4 houres.
Tailazoom - May I have to repeat my post as above?
"most of the people say it works - but they donot know they are using headset profile - not handsfree"
Your BT is headset - the original poster with Audi (and all cars) is talking about handsfree profile.
Just for info - Headset profile - only audio (PCM'd) Handsfree - raw audio - all digital - untouched by phone audio electronics - and then shaped by DSP of car kit.
And Parrot etc which people use here are resorting to headset profile.
How can i use Handsfree ?¿?¿
Thanks
I 'm not sure it's the same problem or not but the BT blue lid will continue to blink indicating that BT is working, but incoming calls doesn't ring in the earpiece some time ... more over, with the headset icon on the phone pad, but when I dial a number it doesn't send the voice to the earpiece as well till I press the earpice button to force it to search for the device signal ... and all this will happen randomly without any pattern.
is it the same problem ?
Miguel - Handsfree kits are pretty costly. Eg - Nokia CARK101 (200$?)
Compare that with headsets which are 50$ a pop. All cars coming out of Europe have built in kits. So, if you have a european car - you are in luck. But all these cars are built with EXACT BT spec. So, you get some phone which doesnot stick to spec - weird things happen.
Parrot kits donot have proper handsfree implementations - they go more for compatibilty - and therefore 99% of parrot users are actually headset+ some rudimentary noise and echo shaping.
Headset profiles are useless in cars becasue there is no DSP - and therefore the other party will hear the echo. In Handsfree - the other party wont even know you are talking with your phone in your bag!!
BIS - The blue LED has no connection(thats what i think) with BT. If BT turns itself off, the LED will continue to blink - so its a useless LED.
I had the same problem that you are describing - that voice is not transferred - I guess this is common thing with MS software - its highly unpredictable.
how can i do to don´t sincronice contacts with parrot ?¿?
Regards
BT800 hands-free?
Hi, I have posted some problems I'm having between the new rom upgrade from i-mate and my Jabra BT800.
As far as I can understand from these posts my Jabra should be detected as a Headset, right? When just upgraded my XDA and tried to connect the Jabra to it I found weird it said the jabra was Hands-free because I always thought it was Headset.
Maybe I'm wrong with all I'm saying but could this be the source of my problem?
Look my post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?p=248516#248516 .
Thanks.
Tri...
Updating radio rom will have no effect. BT is actaully done by sw and radio is used to send raw data.
All headset and handsfree are detected as Hands Free Service - so it should not be a problem
Your problem - you can see it as - when BT is not sending voice - refresh the services in your Jabra connection - you will magically see that HandsFree is deselected. This is magic of Windows - its forgets !!!
You can replicate this problem.

x7500 phone experience...

Mine should be arriving tomorrow
What are you guys using for phone calls: the included wired earbud, bluetooth headset or just the speakerphone?
Do most bluetooth headsets out there work with the included bluetooth stack?
Thanks!
Bluetooth all the way!
I am using the Plantronics Voyager 510 headset works the best for me great battery life, volume etc.
Bluetooth 99% of the time, rarely use the speakerphone. (Which does, however, work well.)
I use the BlueAnt V12, which has a vibrate feature... which is userful since the phone doesn't have one built-in. It also has an LCD, which I find useful. Displays status, phone numbers, but no names. But I seem to know most numbers, and if I don't that's also informative.
BlueAnt V12 has also a great price, around $50.
Jawbone Bluetooth works great.
I have no problems with the Jabra BT800, which also has vibrate, lcd and 6 individual ringtone settings plus the one from the Ameo. Works flawlessly.

So if my BT headset goes dead, the x7500 will continue fine as a phone? Will the speakerphone be automatically activated whenever I initiate/receive a call?

Thanks for the warning. I am just about to try 1.6 on my Jawbone.
Found this comment here - http://www.wmexperts.com/reviews/bluetooth_headsets/review_aliph_jawbone_bluetooth.html
Try creating the registry key:
HKLM\software\microsoft\voice command\speech\BluetoothPTTDelay
value = dword: 2000
Stop and start Voice Command.
I have found that this makes Voice Command 1.6 work great with the Jawbone even in the noisiest enviornments. This will open up the audio channel for 2 seconds before starting a voice command interaction as opposed to the 400ms that is the default. I think possibly the Jawbone is adapting to the ambient noise during this time. This seems to make a big difference though.
Let me know if this helps as my Jawbone will be arriving shortly.
Anyone used a stereo headset and liked it? I wouldn't mind having one that would go one ear for calls and a simple way to use both for listening to music/movies.

Why do you need to go through all athat gymnastics? I just installed voice command and it worked with Jawbone without any issues. I can't complain about battery life because I use my jawbone and Athena as regular phone, even in my open office. Maybe total 2 hours +- 30 minutes. Don't need 6 hours talk time yet I have never run out of battery yet. I charge both devices every night.

Incomming Caller Hears Loud Buzz When Using Bluetooth Headset

Any ideas what could be causing this or more importantly how to fix it?? Thanks! the headset is a aliph jawbone
Did you try using a different headset? From my experiences, even the same brand of headsets can have different voice quality depending on the model.
it is defiantly not the headset. This brand is the BEST ONE on the market. I just reinstalled my phone and have the same problem but i refuse to believe it is the headset. I am going to try it on a different phone tonight.
it could be the jawbone.. and no its not the BEST ONE on the market as u put it.. try another BT and see if u hear the sound.. if u dont then guess what its your BEST ONE jawbone.. but if u do hear the sound its your bluetooth so try updating the radio
i tried the jawbone with another phone and it works on that. So it IS the wizard. And yes it is the best, unless you happen to have a recommendation for another one because it looks like i might be in the market for a new one. Any idea what i could update my radio to? I just updated to molski.biz's newest rom so i have
ROM: 3.3.0.0
IPL: not included
SPL: not included
Radio: 1.19.11
AKU: AKU3.3
i really want to get this thing going this headset is immaculate.
okay i updated the radio rom to 2.69 and it is STILL happening. I have found one other report of this happening with a wizard on the web somewhere and there was no solution on there. Is it my wizard? Other bluetooth things work fine (my GPS works perfectly) And once connected This one works gine also. it is just this initial loud buzzing noise.
It doesn't even happen if i pick it up form the phone then there is noise.
it only seems to happen when i hit the "call accept" button on the side of my bluetooth headset.
i remember my jabra 250v not working w/ my samsung t809 but other ear peices would.. however, my buddies jawbone works with my 8525.. i recommend taking the ear peice to cingular store and have them try to pair it with one of thier phones.. either a 8125 or 8525 or even 3125 and see if it works without any issues..
i think i am going to do that on friday. i have like another 20days before i have to return it. Thank you for your help. This is so lame i really REALLY love the headset :-/
I use a Motorola Handsfree BT kit in my car and with my 8125 callers hear the same thing. It's not as loud if I hit the answer button on my phone vs. the Motorola remote answer button.
It was a lot worst before I flashed my phone with WM6. Seems better now.
My theory is that it's feedback from the phone's mic with my set but if you are using a headset that wouldn't be the case.
My callers will have to put up with it.
Scott
sounds like the exact same problem
so lame. i wonder if it is hardware defect.
I have an MDA with a jawbone as well and my callers say they hear the same loud buzz!
Okay so it is probably a problem with the phone it self, i bet it is how sensitive the mic is. The Jawbone and it's very sensitive mic and a bluetooth car one that also probably has a very sensitive mic both have the issue. I wonder if theres any solution to this.
Try turning off the vibrate option on the phone- that solved this exact same problem for me...
can anyone verify that? i stupidly returned my jawbone yesterday before i saw it cause i had given up hope but i'd gladly by a new one if that was true =) (headset > vibration imo) Thanks!
I have a Plantronics 640 and disabling vibrate solves the problem for me.
So. Lame. Oh well. looks like i need to rebuy my headset. Doh. Thanks all for your input. Someone should add htis to a wiki/faq as it is a very cruddy problem.

Tilt, AT&T Stock ROM, Microsoft Voice, and Bluetooth which work - PLZ Recommend

Greetings,
I have reviewed the Bluetooth vs. AT&T Tilt vs. Microsoft Voice threads, and cannot find a specific answer, so I am going to try to ask a narrow question here ...
... does anyone who has (i) AT&T Tilt with (ii) the AT&T ROMs, (iii) Microsoft Voice, and (iv) a Bluetooth Headset have all 4 working perfectly together? I need to buy a bluetooth headset, and the forums are littered with problems with Voice announcing, or problems answering the phone thru the headset, etc.
That's why I am just hoping to hear from someone who has all 4 of these things ... that work together. Any recommendations for the bluetooth headset are appreciated.
Thanks
My Tilt worked great with the stock ROM, MSVC 1.6.17913 and my BlueAnt Z9 worked flawlessly including announcing calls over BT.
Thank you!
I will look into the BlueAnt Z9. Thank you so very much for responding.
Of course ... if anyone else has the combination of stock tilt/voice/bluetooth, please let me/us know what other adapters might also work.
I did not have any issues with the Motorola H700 and MSVC 1.6.17913 on my Tilt.
H700
Andre - I recall seeing some mention of the H700 on other threads. Can you (please) confirm that you can answer the phone thru the bluetooth, and that call announce works?

I keep my unit on vibrate and ring and this is the way I tested it. I first placed a call using my office phone to my mobile handset in the "vibrate only" and "vibrate and ring" modes. When my mobile handset was on vibrate the notification came through to my headset with audible tones and my mobile vibrated, but no voice announce from MSVC was heard. When I switched the handset to normal vibrate and ring mode (assume this works on ring w/o vibrate as well) MSVC announced the caller through the headset and nothing audible was heard through the handset. I would say this headset is 100% compatible with the Tilt and MSVC.
Bought the Z9
My Z9 arrived today, and it does answer the phone, engage in voice command, etc.
Pretty nifty (but expensive) bluetooth.
Thanks!
Glad you like it. I hope you give us a nice reveiw after you play with it for a while. I am contemplating moving up because I have had this same type of headset for years now HS810, HS820, HS850, and the H700.
I've got AT&T Tilt, Stock ROM, MS Voice Command 1.6.17913 and Samsung WEP200 all working together.
Also, in MS Voice Command, there are options to select the source the phone calls are made from.
Go to "Start" > "Settings" > "Voice Command"
Click. "Notifications" button and the options that come up are...
-Announce notifications using Bluetooth hands free only
-Announce notifications using Bluetooth hands free if available
-Announce notifications through device speaker or wired headset only.

i still cant get it all to work on my tilt like my 8125...8126 was the bomb with vc. tilt is so nice but not with vc
I tried out a plantronics 665 the seemed to work well, but I didn't care that much for the headset. Returned it and got a nxZen nx9000, and it doesn't seem to work with voice command. Not sure why one works and not the other. Anyone care to speculate, or state with authority, why the 2nd headset doesn't work? Thanks.
Anybody knows how Logitech Mobile Pro Headset works with this combo?
Thanks

Is the Jawbone working with all this? I broke my last Jawbone, but would definatele get another, assuming it would work.
My Jawbone works with my Tilt with the stock ROM. Make sure you install VC before you pair your phone with the headset. If you already paired, delete the pairing and re-pair after the install.
Thank you much.
Now I've got another issue, somebody said "BLUEant" and I saw went looking... I like Blue
Trying to decide between the Z9 or another Jawbone. Comparitively they're about the same with the Z9 being the smaller and more "attractive" of the two, and it also costs alot less. Not to mention it's firmware can be update.
But the big plus for me is that it's BT 2.0 BT 2.0 + Firmware upgradeability make it a serious contender in my book. The Jawbone is in it's prime... whereas the Z9 could get better.
Can't decide at the moment...
I also have the Tilt and Jawbone working together but does anyone know if it is possible to issue the voice commands via the headset. I can only talk into the phone to make it dial a name and then the call is directed to the bluetooth headset.
has anyone got this to work all through the headset.
I couldn't imagine it not being possible... I managed to use the Jawbone with the RAZR V3 in or to use voice dialing and it worked decently.
Jawbone and voice dial
Have had a Jawbone paired with my tilt since I bought it. Works perfectly except calls are not announced through the bluetooth, but important e-mail subjects are read through the headset when they arrive.
The Jawbone is sometimes awkward because it gets loose on your ear/cheek if you move your head alot and then sounds like your talking through a long tube.
Thinking about trying blueant, but haven't heard any glowing reports yet.

There are plenty of fantastic reviews for the BlueAnt Z9. It seems to me to be just the same as when I was researching the Jawbone. You'll either love it, or you'll hate it.
The big plus to me with the BlueAnt is that it's warranty is fantastic (2 years compared to the Jawbone's very specific 1 year warranty), it's BlueTooth 2.0 Stereo (should result in better sound quality as I plan to use my Kaiser as my MP3 player as well), and the big plus for me is that its firmware can be updated. Thanks to the firmware, the Z9's limitations are moreso a limit of it's firmware than it's hardware, whereas the Jawbone is fixed.
With that said, I loved my Jawbone... and I'll still be using my current one while it's still functioning (it's falling apart... Jawbones aren't very well built I'll say that) and comparing it to my Z9 when it gets here.

Hi URPREY - I have the same setup (with the official ATT ROM update 1.62.502.0) working, but instead of announcing the callerid info, I'm hearing "please answer or not at home" through my Blueant Z9 via my Tilt. Any ideas?
