maybe i didn't make my self clear.
i have a problem with SPEAKER PHONE.
i can bearly hear it! the same volume as regular earphone!
i was wondering how can i fix it?
Yes,
The quality of speaker phone on O2 XDA II mini is not as good as my old Nokia handphone.
But, you can try to edit the registry with PHM Regedit. It does help in sound quality (but not perfect). I forgot which registry need to edit. But you can find on this forum threat.
Make sure you also set the speaker phone mode (press phone button, green one, for 2 seconds).
Make sure the volume is high enought.
Hope can help.
Best regards,
Arto

Dude what are you talking about. Nothing you have said makes any sense. The only know registry edit for audio is the one related to the normal earpiece - not the speakerphone. And that one is not reallt any use either.
The bad speakerphone on the JAM is known problem. And there is no soultion so far.

The good news is that you're not the only one indeed - I have the same problem. The speakerphone mode is exactly as loud as the normal mode. The bad news is that I also do not have a simple solution.
In another forum, several people reported the same problem after they upgraded to the Radio Stack 1.05 and restored their previously backed-up data. A hard reset (some say: re-applying the radio stack upgrade) seemed to cure the problem for them. However, restoring a backup after that made it re-appear.
I did the upgrade, but not a restore. And now I also have the problem, so I guess it's some software overwriting some setting. Unfortunately I have no idea which. :-( Before the update the volume was a lot better.
Will try a hard reset tomorrow, and see if I can find out anything.
Cheers,
Daniel
"fixed"
ok, this problem was resolved after a HR, but!
as soon as i try to do SPRITE RESTORE for the new BACKUP (which i made after the HR) the volume comes back down!!
so!
no usefull fix..:-(

What does the headset button do in normal use?
When you've got no calls, does it do anything? When you're in a call - does it mute or something else?

Or something else: It hangs up.
By pressing the button on a headset (bluetooth and cable) you can answer an incoming call and end any (incoming and outgoing) call, that's all (= that seems to be all you can do with this button).
I'm also disapointed that you can't start voicedialing with a headset, not with Bluetooth one and even not with a cable headset...

Not realy! Somebody found a way to start the voice dialing application by pressing the button on a Bluetooth headset, but the app is still using the internal microphon of the device, not the micro of the headset, so most of the time trying to dial will fail. If this will also be the same when starting the app via a cable headset...

Hi mates, actualy i found this:
-Cyberon voice command use the record button to start, but you can do another trick:
1-Install the latest spb pocket plus
2-Choose one of the tabs (lets say MAIN) and click add items
3-Choose custom and at the botton left click add/file and then browse the windows folder and choose "sddialer.exe"
4-Now you can start cyveron voice command from your selected tab on the touch screen.
All we need now is some one that can find a way to point the "head set button" to this new shortcut.

That's true vijay, but all of us know that you are brilliant like anothers good programers.
Cheers mate.
I have some ideas for it. It's on my "under consideration" list. But I've never used my headset, so could take a while. What does the headset do in normal use? When not in a phone call, it doesn't do anything in any other app? When in a call, it toggles the phone?
V
vijay , some post before mine, joehorn gave you the answers, it is doing nothing.
It use is: on receiving a call, click and you pick up the call and start talking.
When you want to finish that call, just click again and it is finished.
Perhaps during the conversation, if you hold down for more than 2 to 5 seconds, it will hold the call, like mute, and then do it again and you carry on with that conversation.
Hope this will help.
User22: very useful. Apologies for not seeing post above, I thought it was about bluetooth. I'll have an R&D on it. But I'm sure someone else will write this soon.

Well, like we say here " we will wait for yours notices like rain water in may"
Don't give up mate, you can do it.
vijay one more thing: when you plug your head set, the device knows that it is plugged and you can set it to autoanswer after 1 to 5 rings, maybe by this way you can investigate ¿?.
ok. in normal use the headset play´s music or other stuff. so i would like to start voice command for stop the music or play forward.
Using the cable headphone button to launch Voice Command
Hi, Has anyone managed to crack this problem of using the cable headset button to launch VC, or do I have to invest in a BT stereo headset to play my MP3s on the move?
Any ideas would be welcome...
I've bought used qtek 9100. microphone sensitivity level in phone mode was good enough.
Then I did Hard reset and my friends starts complaining that they are almost can not hear me...
I've tried AGC enabled and disabled, but without success.
there are some registry keys like "INTERNAL_RECORDING_GAIN" and "EXTERNAL_RECORDING_GAIN" in
"HTLM/Software/HTC/AUDIOGAIN"
Now I have
"INTERNAL_RECORDING_GAIN" = 06
"EXTERNAL_RECORDING_GAIN" = 16
Could someone post your values please?
Maybe you know any third party tools that I can use in order to increase microphone sensitivity....
same values on my K-Jam. Is it hardware problem on your phone?

It was fine before hard reboot...
Same with Jasjar
I had the same problem with my Jasjar, my problem was with the BT Headset and also with the microphone directly on the phone.
I sent my Jasjar to warranty, I will tell you if it gets fixed when it returns from them.
feels better after a couple of hard resets...... it is so strange..

i have *exactly* the same problem with my k-jam, however i didn't hard-reset device yet. my friends are complaining very much. i've also checked the problem by myself - i received a call made by my k-jam and voice was tragedy, very quiet and noisy. connecting headset to wizard makes voice sound better but that's not the point to carry mobile with headset all the time! at first glance i thought it could be hardware problem, but if you're saying that before hard-reset microphone quality was fine, then probably it's software-related issue...

Yes, registry values remains the same after hard reset.
But microphone sensitivity is definitely better now.
Later there was two or three hard resets - seems all is ok with sensitivity. Hope that problems will not appear again.
Please let me know if you'll find a solution.

i've changed INTERNAL_RECORDING_GAIN value to 16, but voice quality is still the same. i suppose these settings may concern recording notes (dicating machine) only, not while phone connection. anyway, i've also found HLM/Software/HTC/VOICESETTING registry key, which may be actually that. but values are quite different there and i don't want to make something wrong...

i did ROM update with latest ROM from clubimate.com, then i did three hard-resets in a row, checking voice quality after each one. unfortunately... voice quality was all the time the same and it was NOT good quality
microphone sensitivity - solution?
i did some tests with registry tweaks within HKLM/Software/HTC/AUDIOGAINx keys and after few hours of testing i've got confused and completely dizzy wheter microphone sensitivity is better or not. however i found some interesting things. HEADSET_UPLINK_VOLUME key is responsible for headset microphone sensitivity and SPEAKER_UPLINK_VOLUME is responsible for microphone while phone is in loudspeaker mode. so there are two other keys:
RECEIVE_UPLINK_VOLUME = 18
EARPHONE_UPLINK_VOLUME = 19
values above are default, but i've set both values to CC (204 decimal). after so many tries, soft-resets and test connections, i couldn't really differ which setting is actually better and which isn't. so i called to one of my friends who was complaining before that he doesn't hear me very well. and now he told me, that now's much better! voice was still bit noisy but much louder than before. so i guess i found a solution...
Do any of you have volume issues with MS Voice? I have it setup to announce incoming calls- it says the # and contacts name. The problem I have is that the voice is very quiet when the phone is ringing. Its similar to a txt message or email notification you receive while on the telephone talking to someone. I even tried it with no ringtone playing at all- just the msvoice.
Has anyone used the MS Voice on WM5 HTC Wizard?
Hi all.
I've searched everywhere and as yet I have found NO way to INCREASE the volume during an incoming-call. Even with the scroll wheel on the side full up maximum, the volume I feel should be at least 50% higher.
So, does anyone have a tested, successful way to increase in-call volume?
Thanks,
Matt.
Try Spb Mobile Shell
What I wrote did not work. Thought it did. So, just deleted to not confuse others. Sorry.

I was having the same problem. The sound was too low even when setting was high. I installed Spb Mobile Shell 2 and under their sound profile setting, raise both volumes (speaker, earpiece) to 100% and then the phone will sound loud. Hope it helps. First try the demo before buying it and see if it works for you. maybe its just in my head, but the sound is much louder for me now.

Haven't tried it, but sound volumes is a function of SPB Phone Suite, not Mobile Shell.

Okay, I am a NEWBIE. I have the HTC P3600 with original WM5 ROM. And yes the IN Call Volume in my phone is freaking low too!! I did downloaded the volume.cab from link above and installed it in my Trinity. It shows in Add and remove Programs so I know it installed. BUT It does not seems to make my in call volume louder. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong??? Am I supposed to have a different ROM before installing this volume.cab? Thanks.
Try this
It used to work on my wizard and on a prophet. Don't see any reason why it shouldn't work with the Trinity.

The earpieces from htc for listening music has a button on the cord that allows you to pick up phonecales or use speechreconition to dail somebody.
not sure if this will help anyone, but if you set voice dial, then a long press will trigger it instead of calling someone. So unless you do a long press and happen to say 'boss' or someone else, you're safe there. however double click still calls the last person on your list. Working on getting rid of that.
does anybody find the solution jet couldn't find nothing in the registry
i think the only solution may be to rip the button off it. i only started playing with it yesterday and alreadyy accdinetally called my gf several times
There is a kind of anti-solution. Don´t use the headset. Use good/normal Earphones. The micro on HD ist really good, so you dont need to hold it near your mouth. It even works over some distance... maybe for someone a solution.
An other way it could be to use A2DP (Bluetooth-Stereo) headphones.
Figured it out.

You could also replace redial.exe in the windows directory.
Or you could use this app.
