Bluetooth Connection Problem - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

I don't know if anyone has the same problems, that's why I'm posting a new thread.
First of all, I HAVE searched through the forums for a problem simliar to mine, but I have not found it. (YES, I DO know how to use the search forum.)
Okay, my problem with the bluetooth is that when I turn it on and try to establish a connection with another phone (Tried it with a RAZR and SAMSUNG E600), which also has bluetooth, it does not go through. Usually, the furthest I get to making a connection is getting through the passcode, but then it tells me that I could only establish a connection by "Serial Port" or "Dial Networking".
What I want to be able to do is establish a connection and be able to share/transfer my pictures, music, etc. to the other user (vice versa). It seems that I'm not able to do that, SO I was wondering if anyone could help me with this type of problem.
Thank you! Truly grateful.

"No modem at above number"

Hello,
After performing a hard reset on my XDA Exec I used the various posts within the forum to set-up the machine. Of course one of the thinks I have set up as been the "My ISP" and "My Work Network" section to connect to the Internet via 3G. I also implemented the registry mod to have my 3G/GPRS connection always up.
Now here comes the problem bit ....
After a soft reset the 3G connection automatically comes up and am able to sync with the exchange server and surf the web. All seems fine. However after syncing with the USB cable, manually disconnecting the 3G connection or a making/receiving a phone conversation I am no longer able to connect to the net. Neither My ISP or My Work Network works any more. The error message I get is "No modem at above number...." I have double checked my connection setting and they all seem fine. Am at a loss to explain this.
Any thoughts?
TIA
Hi,
did you solve the problem. I have the same problem with my MDA Pro. When I change from wifi to gprs or modem I get the same error message. I have to turn off the telephone and back on and then it will work. This is really bad. Friends of mine at work have the same problem.
Any ideas?

Sorry, no. Did not manage to fix it. I eventually returned the exec back to O2. Think I'll give it a couple more months while I do a bit more research and then re-upgrade to it again.

MDA Wi-Fi Problem Please Help

I recently got the Tmobile MDA unlocked to work on a Cingular network. Everything works great and I love this phone. There is one problem that is really annoying and I can't seem to find a good solution to it. Problem is with wi-fi, as it doesnt always want to connect to wireless networks, mainly it cannot get an IP address from a given network. I've tried multiple wireless networks, including the one at my home and work. It does connect once in a while and I am able to brows the web etc. But most of the time, it is having problems obtaining an ip address. I had WI-FI companion installed and also a Hitchhiker. Those programs really do make the connection process easier and faster, however the core problem with the phone remains the same. I've read multiple forum posts, registry hacks for emabling g mode etc...In general, I see that a lot of people are having similar problems with it, although I could not find a reasonable explanation of why is this device having such annoying wi-fi problems, nobody seems to know the exact answer or solution to this problem. Is there some manufacturing defect, ROM has an error ? Does anybody know what is the issue with this device ?
Thanks

just need some help with 3 problems with the o2 exec

hello all,
problem 1:
recently my exec has been dropping calls just as they connect. signal seems to jump up and down quite frequently and i'm not receiving some messages from abroad and some messages sent abroad don't make it to the receiver either.
that last issue may be a network issue as it seems to only happen randomly but is getting worse.
would a hard reset help much or is something else wrong here?
any insight would be much appreciated.
problem 2:
i want to disable or remove the voice command application that comes built in the exec (cybertronics?), i don't use it but it locks up the phone on odd occasions.
anyway to remove it without some extensive tinkering.
problem 3:
i remember a friend used to be able to connect his ipaq to his pc then run msn messenger on the ipaq (whilst cradled). is this possible with the exec as it doesn't seem to get a good wifi signal unless i'm right next to the wifi router.
i would have had a 4th problem but i just got AS working finally and jeyo mobile companion to go with it Very Happy
again, any help with any of these problems would be much appreciated.
regards,
haji.
having the same problem with signal. If i was in a location with no signal and i move to a location with good signal, the phone does not seem to detect this change. I have to reset the phone for it to get signal. so disapointed.... just sharing, sorry, ive got no solution.
For problem 3:
If you right click on ActiveSync icon in your system tray (version 4.2 not sure where the option i is on older versions) and choose "Connection Settings..." then there is an option which says:
"This computer is connected to:" and my copy was defaulted to "My work network", changing this to "The Internet" allows me to browse the internet using my computers internet on my XDA Exec.
I think this is what your friend would have been doing.
Regards

thanks gquipster! i'll try that out.
raffy, i've switched the phone over from 'auto' to gsm, that seems to have improved signals and i don't lose txts anymore. when set to auto it keeps trying to find the best 3g connection (i think).
if you don't need the 3g connection then try this:
start > settings > phone > band tab > change network type box from 'auto' to 'gsm'
i hope that helps a bit mate.
still got problem 2 to go then, any takers?

Choosing between WiFi, GPRS, VPN etc. - any simple utility outthere? plz...

Is there a kind of utility that if a connection is required, asks user how to connect? Something like there use to be on a PC, when You start IE? I don't remember which version of IE/Windows it was but it looks something like this - http://support.bee.net/dial/email/outlook6.gif
The problem is, selecting manually how to connect is very much pain in the ass, I am wondering that if there isn't a software already written for this, why is that. It would be a simple yet very usable - You start IE for example, and the phone asks you how to connect, via WLAN or GPRS or whatever. OR maybe even over BT if You have a BT device for connection over PC or smth.
The second option would be to prioritize the connection list - like tell the PDA that first try WLAN, if it fails then try GPRS etc.
The third option would be somehow to use MortScript for this. It's still better than going to Connection Manager through tens of taps.
Been searching the forums. Looked through at least all threads' titles under networking. But no solution so far.
Any ideas? I would appreciate any help. And still wondering why someone hasn't already solved this... Maybe they have, but cannot find it then
So nobody has ever heard of anything like this? Would there be an enthusiast who would program such utility? It would not be a major application...
How do you manually choose connection?
I have HTC Diamond with Windows Mobile 6. I connect it to my work computer to synchronise with Outlook but I want to use my 3G (or GPRS) connection for internet. What should I do?
i really dislike the way the WM6 autoamatically chooses GPRS has its first connection type.. but then if WIFI is turned off it has no choice
An option to possible enable Wifi rather than GPRS would be nice
Windows mobile's connection manager is horrible. I suspect the group assigned to WM networking at microsoft had little (or no) prior experience and didn't really understand how IP routing, interface stacking, etc. works.
We sorely need some kind of end-to-end communications manager that is aware of all network devices (GPRS, CF wireless/ethernet cards, onboard wireless, bluetooth, USB, etc) and virtual devices (all forms of VPN), and how they interoperate. Something that allows editing of routing rules, per-connection DNS servers, gateway priorities, preferred devices, timeouts, connection persistence, etc.
Worry about things like "dial-on-demand" after the basics are covered.
Today it's virtually impossible to keep a WM device on a VPN connection and even harder when you've got phone calls and wifi to deal with. I have my activesync configured through a PPTP VPN and at least 5 times a day it loses its connection and requires me to manually press "sync." Sometimes that doesn't even work, requiring a reboot. Usually there will be some vague and unhelpful error message like "waiting for network" or "could not connect for an unknown reason."
In fact while I'm on a bit of a rant, is anyone else infuriated by error messages like that?
Obviously there was an error - you don't need to tell the user that. If there was no error, you'd be connected! What is the purpose of telling the user there was an error? There is always an "error" unless there is success. TELL THE USER WHAT THE ERROR WAS. Anything else is useless and frustrating.
The device should also absolutely freak out if it ever loses any connection. If the phone loses anything.. the GSM signal, activesync's connection to the exchange server, the VPN... it should beep, vibrate, flash, and refuse to do anything (sleep, power off, etc) until either one of two conditions is true:
1. The error is no longer present (the phone was able to reestablish the connection), or
2. The user has acknowledged and dismissed the error.
It should never be the case that the phone is disconnected and not attempting to reconnect, unless the user chooses that mode of operation. Anything else leads to lost email, missed meetings, and high blood pressure.
Ugh.
Anyway, I think there's a lot of money to be made by a company that can put together a properly functioning WM connection management system. I'm still looking...
This might help, I've not tried it yet but it looks promising....
http://www.iaccarino.de/silvio/ppcstuff.htm#MobileProfiler
That is a much needed program. WM 6.1 does an awful job with GPRS, WiFi,
Phone, etc.
Thanks joemanb, somehow I missed Your reply. But this isn't exactly what I'm looking for. But thanks anyway. I understand that this proggy would be very useful for many people but I don't understand why somebody with programming skills doesn't want to do it...
I have the very same problem.
I have both symbian and WM phones.
Nokia have had this right since my 9500 when you check email or go on the Internet it prompts you for the connection to use. I got a Imate-Kjam and was shocked that it did not do this. It was subsequently replaced with a E90 that still does it the right way and very well. I just got a Samsung SGH-i780 and it is great but it still has no Idea of how to connect to the Internet the way I would like. having 3g makes it less of a problem as I simply don't use the wi-fi but this bugs me that I can't.
All they need to do is have the phone prompt you when you open a Internet app for the connection to use. How hard can that be to realize ?
Bump bump bump
Um... Bump?
Come on developers, You cannot say You don't miss something like that already...
Bandswitch
I hope too in the developers. While waiting I found "Bandswitch" which make something similar...

Disable GPRS connections
Try this. Works fine on my Herald/P4350.
http://www.modaco.com/content/pocket-pc-software/246171/new-free-utility/
Thanks for the suggestions but as far as I can tell, these apps only handle mobile data connections and now Wi-Fi. You can easily disable GPRS by creating a fake GPRS connection with no real access point. That is not what I am trying to accomplish here. But thanks anyway.

Can't share internet from pc to 8525 anymore?

I have an HTC 8525 and when i first got it, i was able to connect my phone to my computer through usb and browse the web from my phone using my computer's internet connection. Well, I had a software issue (incompatible app apparently) and had to hard reset my phone, i had to hard reset it when i got it to, so it wasn't anything new. After hard reseting and going through the initial setup again, i installed all of my apps (except the faulty one) made a few changes in "advanced config tools" like i had set before, plugged the phone to the comp through usb, and my phone continually tried connecting to the internet through my cell phone's data plan (i dont have a data plan, so it said the same old "check if your account balance..." or whatever it says) so please SOMEONE help me with this!!! (i do have activesync and i am able to sync my phone with my comp, and it's an htc herm100 running windows mobile 6 pro)
please help!!! and how do i change my phone's USB connection name? it has WM_ before my name now, it didn't when i first got the phone...
EDIT: I've gotten vTap to work but the internet (internet explorer) still won't load a webpage, it comes up "The page cannot be displayed or downloaded because the connection was lost. Check the connection and try again later." and thats when i try to load google...please, i know SOMEONE on these forums can help me...dont be shy people, post somethin, anything that could possibly help, oh and i had to change my connection to "My Work Network" just for vTap to work...
i've found the "share internet" settings on my phone, i forgot that since the reset it wasn't defaultly available, but even when i get to there, i cant connect for internet sharing through usb, it has the option but i cant connect, i've been through toubleshooting options and everything both through my phone and activesync, i've been to microsoft.com and everything, still cant get it working, so can someone please actually try to help me around here? 81 views and the only responses are from me MYSELF making at least SOME bit of progress. If i wanted to just post my problem and get no answers i would've went to yahoo answers, now seriously, someone freakin help me, before i lose all faith in this website!!!
EDIT: i think i found the major problem, activesync, i can connect to my computer through activesync but everytime i try to transfer any files either the transfer will freeze or my phone auto disconnects from activesync, might not be my phone disconnecting, could be the comp and my phone recognizes that i'm not connected anymore, and can someone actually help me a little on this? i've tried completely uninstalling activesync, i've went through every option on my phone that i could think of, i've had over 100 views on this topic and still no replies, seriously?
i'm just using skyfire web browser now, i cant believe no one could help me, oh well...
