Titan on roam in home coverage area - Mogul, XV6800 General

My friend has an Alltel 6800 which shows the roam triangle while in the home coverage area. She was told that this was normal with her service plan. I told her that there was something wrong with the phone since its on roam and that she should switch out the phone for a new one. So far the phone acts nomal and there are no issues with roam charges, voice calls or data transmissions.
Is this really normal sometimes due to a service plan?

I found out on howardforums that in some areas Alltel customers do show roam in their home coverage areas

I am an Alltel 6800 customer, I live in Nebraska and I am roaming all the time at home. I haven't been charged for roaming. Still would be nice if we could get rid of the triangle.

How to force evdo data roam on Mogul

I would liket to force the Mogul to evdo data roam. I have alltel evdo but not sprint.
when i use the roam only phone function and allow data roam function, I show evdo on the tool bar but when i try to connect the phone dials the 777 sprint 1x number.
Any ideas on how to force the phone to evdo on alltel?
Larry
are you sure the roaming agreement supports EVDO on alltel?
I know Verizon gives us only 1x data because their EVDO is too valuable to let the likes of us roam on it!
Sprint and Alltel have an EVDO roaming agreement between each other. Verizon does not let anyone else on their EVDO yet.
See if this pound code works: ##EVDO# (##3836#)
I don't know how you could use Alltel for voice and Sprint for data but you could use Sprint for everything if you go into your Phone settings and under roaming choose Roaming Only but you may pick up in a Verizon network (which bites ass).

Possible to Automatically Roam on Verizon only in certain areas?

There are 2 specific areas in CT where I really don't have good Sprint service at all and the signal cuts in and out. I really don't have a problem anywhere else. I was wondering if it was possible to manually the tweak the PRL on my HTC Evo so that it roams in certain areas. I know Verizon has much better service in these areas. If so, Is it possible that I would have 3G service while roaming?
I've read up on the disclaimer that if I roam too much Sprint can void my contract, but I'm only at these areas on occasion. If not, maybe its possible to use Tasker and another program to automatically switch me to roaming based on my GPS location? If that's the case, I wasn't sure if I would be stuck with 1x or 3G
Any thoughts would be great,
~J
Check out the app Roam Control in the market. It's the only one I know of that can force you into roaming and hold you there. Also if you're a locale or tasker user, he included a plugin for them, so you can automate the roaming.
I couldnt believe it......I was roaming in my own damn house 2day! In the middle of Los Angeles.......they must be backed up like crazy aver since AT&T had to stop stealing from Verizon's towers......lol :\

Hey does that app control roaming and non roaming?? Because sometimes Ill be roaming in a location I know has service, so Id like it to search for that service consistently instead of just going into roaming......thanks!

So is this different than just going into the options on my phone and changing to affiliated networks? Also when roaming is it only 1x speed for data or is it 3G?
Thanks,

It lets you switch between Home (e.g. Sprint), Roaming (e.g. Verizon), and Automatic (e.g. Sprint until the signal is gone)

Never seen the config screen for affiliated networks, so I'm not sure. The issue with the built in 'Automatic" roaming option is that it ranks ANY Sprint signal above ANY Verizon signal. So if you have 0.001 bars on Sprint and 4 bars on Verizon... it's going to pick Sprint... and then it's going to drain your battery because it will keep losing the signal.
Whatever voodoo the app is doing, it let's you pick Verizon and lock onto it until you change it back. My office is in a dead zone and I was walking out at the end of the day with 20% battery, now that I force myself on to Verizon at work I can leave with a solid 70% or more left on the battery.
hey heres a link to do it!

Domestic Voice, Domestic Data

Recently Today my EVO 3D flashed to Metro will no longer Roam. Its either in service or No service. Usually it will roam on near by Verizon Tower and im able to still send texts just not make calls, which im fine with that.
Any Idea what is causing that.
And exactly what does enabling or disabling Domestic Voice/Data do on metros service.
WTF, as soon as i hit enter the phone goes right into roaming Analog B/A So now its working. Once i enabled the Domestic voice and data it started to roam. Hmm. Still need info if you can help

I see this is pretty old, but a prl update usually helps this issue.

[Q] How does Domestic Roaming work?

I'm running a stock, unrooted ZVC. I live in an area with great Sprint service, but sometimes (today) I'm in an area with no or poor Sprint coverage. How can I get my G2 to roam? I don't intend to torrent all of the interwebs, I just want a little data to use Hangouts and Facebook with. I get a weak 1xRTT signal here and can make a call, but no data service. I've checked the necessary boxes, and put the phone in Global mode, but it wont roam. Putting it on GSM mode only will find AT&T , T-Mobile, but will not connect.
Even in other areas where it does prompt me to roam and it shows the little triangle, I just can't get any data signal.
This is immensely frustrating, since I'm rarely in a non Sprint area, but I'd really like roaming to just work when I need it.
Any advice?
Sprint does not roam off domestic GSM carriers like AT&T and T-Mobile. Roaming arrangements are with CDMA carriers like Verizon.
If you've gone into System Settings, Roaming and set Roaming Mode to Automaic, checked off Domestic Roaming and Domestic Data Roaming, also go to Settings, Mobile Data, hit Menu button and check off Data Roaming there as well.
If you're in an area with no Sprint signal but a roaming partner is available, it will connect to that carrier and roam off them for either voice calling (1x) or data (1x, and or 3G). Might be a good idea to update your PRL (preferred roaming list).
If after all these you still can't roam, then get on the phone with customer service and have them see what's going on.
Most Sprint plans nowadays include voice roaming and data roaming, but with this important caveat as per their T&C :
Off-network Roaming: The primary use of your Device must be for domestic purposes within the Sprint-owned network. Domestic means use in the 50 United States and U.S. Territories (except Guam). Sprint reserves the right, without notice, to deny, terminate, modify, disconnect or suspend service if off-network usage in a month exceeds: (1) voice: 800 min. or a majority of minutes; or (2) data: 100 or 300 megabytes or (based on plan terms) a majority of kilobytes.

How to force voice roaming in Sprint HTC 10

My office has almost zero bar signal of Sprint, but 2~3 bars signal of Verizon. Sometimes, my phone just stuck with Sprint, and won't receive and make calls due to very bad signal.
Is there any way to hack my (rooted) sprint HTC 10 to be always voice roaming on Verizon:
I don't care about data roaming, as my office has WIFI.
I am not likely to abuse roaming, as my phone calls are scarce. But I just don't want to miss calls during emergency.
Is there a way to hack the phone, like changing the PRL or sth. But I also like the flexibility of switch back anytime as my home has normal Sprint coverage.
Thanks,
