Hey Guys,
Although this is my first post i have been reading and reading up about my iMate Jasjam and all of the other stuff that goes with it... Now whats happened is ive gotten this phone/pda for nothing with a sound issue that ive now fixed , it was running a rom with windows mobile 6.5. It was fine for almost 4 days but out of nowhere it wouldn't come out of idle or sleep mode where the screen is black and you just tap the power button to wake it. So i turned the phone off and on and managed to get it to boot into windows mobile but it froze, after this it wouldn;t go past teh load screen. I then removed memory card , battery and sim , still no boot afterwards... I then attempted to use the SD card to boot an original rom onto the phone but it comes up with "loading" for a few seconds and then just sits in the tricoloured screen and won;t budge.
Unfortunatly it appears the phones never had the hardspl done on it so if i can revive him ill definatly do this so it doesn't happen again... If i turn the phone on now it just hangs on the first load screen , ive still got GSM but im not very able with utilising the table to solve my problem... i was wondering if anyone could shed some light on the best way to try and revive it! it's a great little phone and i was using it heaps and heaps , had and did everything i wanted and would be such a shame to see it go as i got it for nothing, repaired it etc..
Thanks in advance and my appoligies if this is a stupid noob question.
Mick
You could try a hard reset, hold both "soft keys" (above windows and ok keys) while hitting reset, then the "R" on the slide out keyboard then space.
You should also be able to flash it from boot loader. Hold the power and side ok buttons while hitting reset, and you should end up in the tri colored boot loader, flash the at&t stripped rom from there (found in my sig below).
Then you can load hardspl. Then you should be ready for some flashing. Just make sure to flash the stripped rom between the custom cooked roms, it will straighten out odd memory issues (no need to let the stripped rom configure, it seems just flashing it is enough).
Welcome to the world of playing and bricking/unbricking your device!
I bought the Qtek 9100 from a seller on ebay who listed it as faulty due to not booting..
I assumed it was most likely the battery, So I ordered it, cleaned it up a bit, waited a whole MONTH for the battery to arrive (Damn you customs! haha), charged it, And whoop, it turned on.. Kinda..
It showed the O2 boot logo, then suddenly the screen started showing this very bizarre set of lines almost as if the ribbon was broken.. this however couldn't be the case, as the O2 logo was displayed fine, and opening and closing it didn't affect the screen..
So now.. Having booted it and had it crash before even loading windows, it refuses to turn back on, So I attempted every trick to hard reset it.. No luck
The only luck I've had, is holding the power button down for 30 seconds with the battery removed, and putting it back in for it to complete the above syptom.
I'm assuming as it boots the logo perfectly fine, it's not the battery (it's brand new, and is charged from a separate charging facility) Not the screen either.. So, It's got to be something else? :S
I'm trying to put as much information possible as to get the most informed solution to my problem :/
I'd truly love a solution for this as I've spent the remainder of my money on this phone (only a student) and really require a working phone soon.
Thank you so very much , PLEASE HELP! D:
Thanks guys lul
problem
plese forgive me for my bad english but i hope you understand what i try to say! i have 2 qtek 9100 with the same problem! i i resolve the problem in one way at both of the phones! i disassemble the phone on the location of the display screen and there is 2 integrated circuit boards and between them i put a piece of paper and at the bottom of the screen one horizontal piece it seems that was the problem integrated plates touching each other is that the phone was disassemble before! i hope this information will help you !
I have just got the HD2 and been using it for a few weeks. Downloaded a few apps (eg HTC rom, BSB tweeks) and all is good. Saw Max Manila and looked like a great idea - checked my manila version 2.5.19211619.0 and downloaded 2.7 SE (checked it's right for my manila) loaded onto phone and it crashed after soft reset. Took battery out and phone doesn't go past first screen (with the red writing bottom left) - Hard reset is the same and now I'm worried!
Any ideas???
sad to say yy sounds like hard reset time.
power off, hold volume up and volume down, tap power keeping volume up and down pressed til the screen comes on and follow the prompts.
it will reset your phone to factory defaults.
never used max manila so I cant help with what the problem might be, but if there is a developers thread for it you might be better asking there.
Thanks for replying samsamuel - I've tried the hard reset and it doesn't work!
Even when I do as you say, I get the white start screen with htc written on it and then several red lines at the bottom right starting R G and D and that's it! It just stay's like that - At this moment I'd pray for a hard reset!!
I'm going to try booting from the sd card but I'm not sure I can get the phone to go into the bootable mode. I've downloaded the HTC rom and extracted the nmh so we'll see.
if your phone is provider locked then that will not work.you need the rom that came on your phone. so if was from uk o2 then you need the o2 uk rom, otherwise it wont work.
No luck! Whilst I've got everything to sort the phone out it won't do anything but load the white first screen no matter which buttons I hold down.
Man this sucks!
Guess there's nothing for it except the bin unless anyone else has any other ideas??
can you get into boot loader?
press and hold vol down(not up this time, just down) tap and release power, keep vol down held. should boot to striped cultures colored screen.
if you can what does it say next to SPL?
Hi Samsamual
Thanks for helping but no, won't go into bootloader either - doesn't respond to any input (even when I conect the usb the charge led doesn't come on!) and just starts with the white screen with the HTC logo and then the red writting appears and it just hangs - left it for 5 mins just to be sure and no change
Looks like I've really messed it up although I have no idea what I did wrong - instal went just like the other things I installed.
Ahh shame. All i can suggest is the original rom sd card method. But it MUST be the propper rom that came on your phone, so if you got it from vodaphone, , , even if it is unlocked, you must use the voda rom.
Also, have a really good read through the pages in teh rom development section. If you can find someone with the exact same issue, you could be one step closer to fixing it.

When you tried the SD card method did you use a 2GB SD card and was it formatted to FAT32?
WB
Have you tried a boot (all combinations!) without the sd card installed?
Hoss and WB - thanks for the comments
Hoss, I've held the volume buttons for over a minute after powering on - no change
WB, I can't get the phone to go into boot loader screen but thanks for the info for the future. Next time I'll see if I can copy the original rom just in case.
Resigned myself to having a new paper weight on my desk and looking for a new phone - Guess I won't be putting so many programs on my new one....
PA - Thanks for the advice - Yes tried with sd card in/out sim in/out bootloader, hard reset, soft reset and always the same.
In your posts you do not mention where you bought your HD2, and I do not know what country you are in.
From what I have read, it seems that you did not flash any ROMs, nor change your SPL, so if I were you, at this point, rather than accepting a bricked paperweight, why not explore your warranty possibilities?
Contact the place you bought the HD2 (the dealer) and explore your options. Since I do not know which country you are in I will not suggest an HTC service center, but if your country has such a center, at last resort, you might check out that possibility.
Since you apparently had no hardware problems before the manila incident, it would seem that it is a software glitch somehwere.
Good luck with all of this. It must be almost heartbreaking to have this happen with such beautiful hardware.

What's most annoying is it wasn't as if I was doing anything crazy! Max manila is used by many people (from what I've seen in the threads) and I guess I downloaded the wrong one (although naturally I checked and it's the right one). Certainly will curb my using of 3rd party software! As for the warranty, you're right, I can try and see if it can be fixed (bizarrely, that hadn't occured to me - I thought that with no resets working HTC couldn't do anything). Thanks for the tip and I'll let you know how I get on.
Surely your warranty will cover this. Yes, let me (and us) know how all of this goes. You will get your phone back to what you deserve, for sure!
I had the same issue.
Sent mine to HTC and got it back with the comment "Cannot reproduce"
Probably it solved itself when the battery was removed for a couple of days in the mail.
It has now been working for two weeks again.
Fingers crossed.

Experential nut I may be, but just wondering if you had the problem after you installed the MAx manila? I wonder now what versions of OS may be causing this problem.
i had something like this with my HTC Diamond... It stopped responding completely when turned on, didn't respond to the usb cable being plugged in (the round ring used to illuminate when charging)
I took the battery out, for about 30 minutes... then left it charging for another 30 minutes - booted up straight away and never did anything like that again
Worth a shot just leaving it without power for awhile, and then just recharging it
Like watnuweer mentioned, "cannot reproduce" probably fixed itself by not having the battery left in for awhile

This is getting more interesting, what do you suppose is the cure of taking out the battery, and then charging? I do not doubt your experience, I am just extremely curious if anyone can explain this phenomena.
hi all
my htc touch elf (P3450) display turned to white with black patch at one place & some lines all of a sudden. it was working all fine. i was charging when a call came. i disconnected recieved the call. after that the screen turned white
Tried restarting but no result.
I can hear the notification of a message coming. but no ringing tone when i tried calling from other number
Please bail me out.
regards
Hardreset could be the solution
not resolved
i cannot see anything on the screen except white screen with black patch.
i tried hard reset with imaginary screen but not resolved
i see no visible screen cracks
how to check if screen is crack?
It may be that the LCD is cracked, thats what it sounds like to me, anyways. Check the connector as well though to make sure it is all connected correctly.
The white with black patch does sound broken to me though (Sorry!)
Stu
Hi Stu, I just received my friend's ELF. His display turn white, but the device still be able to receive phone call. trying to enter bootloader, all I get is white screen with some black-horizontal-thin lines. Tried to hard reset, now it seems the device is on phone setup position so I can not get anything.
Is this LCD issue? Could it be broken? FYI, before this happen, there's already one dead pixel on the screen.
BTW...is it possible that upgrading to cooked ROM can bring LCD broken? may be, unsuitable ROM?
regards,
Bom81
Not sure if flashing a cooked rom would kill the screen - although I would say thats very unlikey.
It does sound like the sceen is broken, theres one way to find out - If you don't mind giving it a go - you could always try your screen quickly in his phone - I'd imagine you're fairly familiar with the internals by now
(I do have a spare screen laying around now - JTAG is no longer able to pick up my bricked elf at all - full battery etc how I was doing it no longer works - guess it is dead for sure now!)

Hahaha..LOL, Today I did want to put my LCD on my friend's elf. but I forgot to bring the opening tools to my office. guess I'll do it tomorrow and see how it goes. I'll let you know after my experiment with this thing.
A little bit Of Topic on this thread, I think so, your device has problem
so even the JTAG method will not be able to connect to the processor. Too bad you're in england, otherwise, the spare screen could be very useful here. LOL
UPDATE
ok..confirm the LCD is broken. I've changed the LCD with mine, and the device is working fine. i guess the dead pixel is the cause of the problem.
Should be able to find one cheap enough on ebay - I do seem to find it cheaper to buy another faulty one (maybe even bricked) as long as the screen is working
Need help on my HTC Touch
Hi Guys,
I really need your help badly. I have an HTC Touch (Elfin), I presume (128/256MB). The problem is i have downloaded the official windows mobile 6.1 rom and extracted the .exe file using Winrar. After which, i copied all the files to the sd card and renamed the .nbh file to ELF0IMG as instructed in the forum.
I put back the sd card and pressed the camera button and the power button at the same time. When it booted up it says reading from SD card and I can see that it is extracting the roms and ext roms. Afterwhich, there was a progress bar and then soon after a while screen turned to blue and then white. Currently now, as I am tying this the screen is still white. Please advise me asap in what to do? Thank you very much.

Ur display screen has been broke as simple as that..
Ok. Here is the thing.
I've droped my phone down, straight on the screen, no problems. 5 minutes later, when my brother was trying to play on it the screen turned white, with no stripes.
After 1 month i even forgot i had an htc, found it in my office drawer, and i thought of reinstalling the rom. But before that i pushed very hard on the screen, i took the battery out, pushed it in the battery space and after i started it worked like a charm.
hi guys
well ok here is the story
I got htc touch elf
in past i have flashed many roms, upgraded radio, uspl & all & everything was working fine but today phone was in my pocket & when i take it out no display but network led flashing, so I soft reset it but it didn't turned on. I even tried charging but the orange LED light didn't come on(even after 10 mins of charging). than i removed my battery & after 10 minutes i placed it in & turned on my phone this time it starts. So i quickly hard reseted the device & it worked fine. But within few minutes when its customizing the device it turned off & screen goes black. I tried turning on & it turned on & quickly adjusted back light settings. & was editing time it hangs & again turned off. I tried again & again sometimes it turns off at smart mobility screen. & later it didn't even turn on & no charging light even when plugged into charger. I took out battery again & placed it in & it utrnd on but turns off in few minutes.
My touch is almost 2years old & orignal stock battery since i purchased touch
i guessing that it may be battery issue cause i was able to go in try colour boot loader screen but it fades & changed in to dim white screen.
It also happens in smart mobility screen & turns reddish or blue & than turns off.
any ideas guyz
watz this issue
I am guessing battery issue but in try color screen it fades to dim white screen & from past 20 minutes its still in that dim white light(picture attached)
so is battery corrupted or any hardware issue.
any help will be so helpful
thanks
waiting for your replies
PS:- & when i was able to log in windows i checked battery status it says 70%. after 10 minutes of without battery I reinserted battery & goes to tricolour boot loader screen This time it didn't fades.
But when i soft reset device it stays in red colored smart mobility screen see pic attached
no one wid any idea
here's what u can do...try to hard reset till u see the tri color screen and then flash it with a stock ROM with the W/O 6.1 it should turns into green color..then just configure it as usual.
Try with a fully charged battery, if battery is not the issue then put in a fully charged battery and then flash a stock ROM, don't risk a flash with this battery, it may die in between of a flash ( maybe battery cycle issues 2 year old batteries can give these ). Flash stock with a new battery which is charged to 100%.
If not just manage a flash to stock and go to HTC support, maybe issues with harware.
You sure no moisuture/water went it ? These phones are tricky if moisture goes in and creats issues with motherboar an the tocuh screen can cause re-boots etc etc.
thanks for your reply guyz
I visit service center & they told me that its motherboard issue. And they cant fix it..have to buy new motherboard but as it costs 70% of the price of mobile so better to buy a new one
After searching web for it I found that HTC has these motherboard issue. There hardware is not long lasting.
As promised, just replying to this now. have just seen your last post. It does indeed sound like a hardware issue - I was going to guess at the mainboard. Have you tried flashing on a different ipl/spl etc? I wonder if that may be de stabilising your device for some reason? Also, guess you could try another radio. I have 3.21.90 on both of mine. Can't remember what IPL/SPL combo I have going.
Sorry to not be of more use. By all means feel free to see what JTAG can do for you, but I seriously doubt you will be able to alleviate this situation, and at the same time, HTC/Service Centre would be a little less willing to help.
They also tried to charge me £90 GBP to fix an ELF.... that is more then I can buy them for!

yup. I tried flashing diffrent radio and roms. But it didn't worked. will flash ipl spl if it comes back to life again
thanks again for your replies
No need to say thanks. I wouldn't be on this site if it wasn't for others helping, not would I have bothered posting my attempts at jtag etc
Let us know how you get on, I am intrigued to see what could be going wrong on your phone.
