i use my touch to surf the web alot. once in awhile, i cannot get a web page to open. it stays saying opening... if i go to comm manager and hit data connection to turn it off and then retry the web page, it forces the data connection to restart (dial 777) and everything is fine again. anyone else have this problem? is there a way to force the data connection to close when you close the browser?

Can anyone tell me how i can force a GPRS/3G connection. At present i am using Thunderhawk II to browse the internet from my M5000 but this application does not automatically open an internet connection using GPRS/3G when i am not using WiFi. I have to open PIE first before the device will connect to the internet and then open Thunderhawk. This is a pain. Any advice? Can anyone create a little Today app to do this?
......and unlike PPC 2003, WM5 does not allow you to open a data connection by tapping on the 'G' or 'U' symbols at the top of the screen. Why not??????
go into connections and locate the connection settings you are looking for, press and hold, tap connect.
Thanks for the reply but going through the following routine everytime i need to browse is hardly convenient:
Start
Settings
Connections
Connections
Orange World: Manage existing connections
Orange GPRS Internet
Connect
Is there no way of achieving this from the Today screen?
nope
connections, or use PIE as you have indicated.
Try PhoneAlarm to force GPRS connection
I seem to recall that PhoneAlarm has a route to forcing GPRS to connect. Certainly works with my Universal. It's not always shown on the available skins, but if I use HGS6VGA CAR skin file GPRS connection is forced by clicking on one of the displayed icons. Not sure of the code this icon click invokes, but it does launch GPRS on my device.
hello...I want to know if it is possible to leave the GPRS connection open- once you have opened it -on a JasJar device...in fact, as soon as it finishes downloading an account it disconnects automatically , therefore if you want to continue downloading another one account or surf the web you have to re-open the connection ......I have noticed that with Kjam which I also had , on the contrary the connection stays open until you press and hold the red phone button
Is there a way to supress Data connection of force permission..

I have wifi at work and at home.
its only when I'm on site (construction) that I would need to access data, and then only rearely..

Hi,
I am using both Opera Mobile 10 Beta and Skyfire version 1.5.0.15020.
Skyfire is fast, but it's not loading the full page. When I am checking my mails in outlook, only half of the page is loaded and I waited for full page to load and it didn't. Landscape is working in sky fire. (I have checked for more than one mail thread)
Opera is also ok, and I can able to see the fully loaded page for my outlook mails. But landscape is not working. Any settings needs to be done for the landscape?
I am using the Wi-Fi connection in my home. When I am connecting to the Wi-Fi, it's connected and I can able to browse the internet. After sometimes (5-10 mins), the internet page is throwing error saying check the internet connection. When I saw the notofication bar my Wi-Fi is disconnected and it's searching for new network is detected and showing some other Wi-Fi connection.
I have to dismiss all and once again I need to connect to my Wi-Fi.
What could be the reason? While I am browsing itself, it's searching for another Wi-Fi connection and disconnecting my astice Wi-Fi connection or any other Wi-Fi connection is detected while I am browsing and askin gto connect that one? I am not sure. Anybody could advice on it.
Hello,
I'm confused by the internet connection of my Topaz. I have set it to connect to 'my work network' so there is no internet connection possible over 3G/gprs/edge, but only when i'm connected to my computer over usb. When I don't set my phone like that, my experience is that it connects to the internet like all the time (with huge costs from my provider as a result)
On my past phones (regular phones), I used to have the internet enabled all the time, there wasn't even an option to turn it off I guess. They only went online when I opened the webbrowser and it disconnected edge automaticly when closing.
With my current setting on my topaz (work network) I can't update my status on facebook or twitter as it can't connect, and that's a bummer. But I can't turn it on because then it keeps connected all the time and my bill rises incredibly fast in one day.
How do I set my device so that the weather and all other automatic things can't connect to the mobile internet, in a way that the device only connects when I start to browse or update my status, and disconnects right after that? I don't want to disable weather totally because I still want to allow it updating through my USB connection.
I know there is a button 'Data connection' in the communication manager, but turning it off still doesn't do anything, i can still connect to the internet. When locking the device I can choose terminate connection, but it reopens automaticly.....
I simply don't want any data being transfered behind my back.
