I have successfully moved from Orange UK to T-Mobile UK and got MMS etc.. working after lot of problems. There are a few simple issues I would like to do and wondered if somebody could help.
Speed Dial position 1 is "reserved" for voice mail (presumably orange) - how do I change this?
Can I edit Start Menu item 4 to remove Orange folder?
On web icon at page bottom left hand strip of Orange desktop links to Orange web etc..- How do I edit these?
The only Bluetooth service I can find is DUN - can I install any others?
many thanks

Ok I scoured the archives and can't find what I need. Basically I've..
1. Hard reset - Soft reset and got back to it not installing anything off Extended Rom.
2. Run Total Commander and found the Extended Rom, got list of apps.
3. How do you install them from here, there is no apparent command and clicking on them messed up the title, on my JAM when you go into ext rom clicking on stuff installs it, so what do I do here ?
4. Anyone got a link to list of what to install and what it does ???
many thanks
in TCommander, set it up for single click operation - go to about/settings.
once done, then just click on the cab file(s) you want to install and you're done!
Hey thanks, I'll give it a go. Am I correct in saying that the T-Mob vario does not have the Skype and antivirus programmes on it ?
Yes, no Skype and Av on the Vario, only on the K-jams. When in TC, just double tap on a file and it is executed, a single tap does nothing or lets you change the file name.
Thanks very much. Are there any posts here concerning what each bit in the rom does, I can find one from the Magician on T-Mob but not the Wizard.
on this site they have a list for the Dutch T-Mobile Vario and the I-Mate k-Jams. (it is in Dutch, but you can understand what the files mean)
http://gathering.tweakers.net/forum/list_messages/1085437//
I'll have a look, for those contemplating doing this too,
The one called 'Cab customisation connection TMUK wizard'
is your GPRS settings, bit of a simple one, but probably essential unless you like tapping in your own settings 1
The one called TMO wallpaper sound ominous so I deleted it.
That Dutch list is good, most apps are the same replace the TMONL Moniker witl TMOUK and you'll be on track.
There are less things on the UK one that though quite a few less.
hi there
I have orange M5000 with
exRom unlocked etc
my phone app is playing up
firstly smartdialer does not seem to exist and the option
in menu does not start any dialogue
video call is not there either tho the options still exist
(this I can live with but I used intellidialer all the time on my M2000
and I believe this is the same prog)
help would be appreciated
cheers
simonastro
gah
trust me to forget the weirdest thing
on phone app menu
select options and I get the settings page
this cannot be killed tho - I have to reset the device
moreover cannot alter the settings - stuck on ring fantasy.wma
( Have got dialer and video back by selection of orange
ex ROM cabs - had to guess but all is ok )
oddness
I understand, that you did not install all cab files which were supplied by orange in extended rom. Maybe you missed installing a required cab file?
Just my quick thoughts.
Good luck.
Try installing the ENABLE-VT-RTPLUGIN-0727-2-SIGNED.CAB or similar file... should do the trick
I did install that cab prior to my last post and
video calling and smartdial are back
however the
stuck on phone options issue is unresolved
cheers
Hi,
I've just received a v1605/Hermes 200 from Vodafone and as usual they have managed to remove some of the most useful things from the Hermes.
I have searched high and low for the default green phone dialer skin, the one that allows for video calling, but I cannot find it anywhere. Can someone point me in the right direction so that I can download it?
[EDIT: Found it HTC_TyTN_1.18.255.105_ExtROM contains the default green phone skins for both video and normal phones. I also found the default theme somewhere too (HTC_Default).]
Also, I want to have the task list displayed on the Today screen, but this is not an option on Vodafone (it was there before their customisation CAB's removed it). Does anyone know how I can bring the task list back?
Oh and last but not least, is there a way to get the auto-lock on the Today screen too?
thanks

SOLVED
After trying the various reg edit methods that had been shown, I couldn't get any of them to work. The way I eventually got it to work was to hard reset the device and interrupt the Vodafone customisations, then take a copy of the registry and copy the registry to my computer. I then hard-reset the device again and but time alowed the Vodafone customisations, then I added the missing entries back in the registry.
See below if you'd like to see the pre-Vodafone Today/Items:

Problems using a PC-based registry editor to change settings
Hello,
Please forgive my ignorance here but I'm trying to alter the registry on my Voda compact III (Hermes 200) to show up the task list and key lock etc. When I alter a zero value to a one I am told that "access is denied." I've been using a little free piece of PC software called "Mobile Registry Editor". Is this suitable or should I be going about it in another way?
Also, there seem to be a host of other changes made on this ext-ROM as discussed on other threads so I can't help thinking it might be worth just removing the vodafone one altogether and then simply looking for a patch that allows me to do MMS and video calling without Voda's own Phone app. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Johann.
Vodafone MMS settings CAB won't install
I have binned the Vodafone extrom now and am running without it (I've installed the light blue dialer screen). I'm still having problems with MMS and video calling. Does anyone know which one of the three Vodafone CAB files I would need to install to get this working? I tried to install the Vodafone settings file in the hope that this would enable the MMS and video calling. I've now got an MMS inbox but it won't send or receive so I'm wondering if there're just some little bits of information missing. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Johann.
Yes I did use search. A lot. Got quite late.
The only dialpad skin that's actually working for the Magician... is the xpad,
or is there another one around?
The thing is that I actually found some after lots of searching, just that
they only replace a part of the dialpad and the upper left section is always
messed up, or just that part is fine (when installing wm 5 dialpad skins).
What about that Caller ID program? I didn't see it mentioned too often around here. Does anybody use it? Is there a better program (or can you grab the one of the Tytn e.g.?)
How can I get rid of it? (I wouldn't want to Hardreset...)
One last thing - what cab file sets up the connection settings for O2 Germany MMS?
The folder's there, I can go online sufing via IE, but sending/receifing of MMS isn't possible (yeah, it's already been activated) - any advice?
Thanks.
Hello there,
I found a fix for the ICQ, Skype ... problem on the Vodafone branded X1 (testes with DE!).
This .cab fixes the problem without flashing the rom .

Yes it does but when I installed it, it screwed with the gprs settings. It's fine tho and it works after you put the correct settings back. Best thing to do is to get a registry editor [total commander] and modify the registry so you can see/change the connection settings. Then modify the settings back to vodafone. That prob doesnt make much sense so i'll do a step by step...
1. Download and install total commander on your phone
2. In total commander navigate to \\plugins\registry\HKLM\Comm\ConnMgr\Destinations\My ISP and open ReadOnly and set it to 0
3. Do the same for any others that are in there.
4. Close total commander and go to start-settings-connections-connections.
You should now see that My ISP is now listed (instead of 'this has been blocked' etc.
5. Go into manage existing connections
6. Click edit and make a note of all the details. The username/password is 'web' for both user/pw
7. Under Advanced, click select networks and check to see what they are. Make a note.
8. Now go into Messaging-sms/mms-menu-mms options-servers. Click on Contract MMS and make a note of all those settings.
9. One final thing I would do before you install that, sync your phone with your computer so all your contacts etc are saved, that way if it does screw up you not being able to connect you can just reset storage and go back to the start as if your phone was brand new.
10. Install the program on your phone
11. Now go into each of the settings we looked at above from point 4 and set them back to what they were. You'll notice that a lot of other connections have been made (VFDE Push) etc, to remove these go back into total commander and delete the reg setting for them.
If there's an easier way let me know for the future...
Many thanks Jon_010 - I'll have a go at this tonight!
All is not as simple as I first thought...
One thing i've just noticed (i've only got my X1 at the weekend), since doing this it seems that I am unable to use ie/opera over wap. I only tested over wifi as I assumed this was the problem.
Seems that it's got wifi working as it should, but it kills the use of normal wap. Messenger seems to work ok though both over wap and wifi. I'm gunna look into this a bit more.
I'd hold off doing this unless you're not bothered about losing wap. Maybe I missed a setting when I did it.
OK it appears that its still an issue with windows live that's still blocking it. Does anyone have a original cab file of windows live?
Jon - sorry to hear you had some problems with this. I flashed the ROM in the end with the SE image and the phone is working now.
I don't know where you could get hold of the CAB, you could hard reset as a last resort?

Have you managed to get everything working now? I.e have you got wap working fully along with wifi? The last thing I need to resolve is windows live. I've found a cab but still doesnt appear to be working...
I wouldnt suggest using this as a fix if you're a Vodafone UK customer.
(i had to hard reset and restore from dashwire to un-do it!)
thanks for the help anyway though.
