Hi,
I've just given my phone a soft reset and the password that I've been using for days now doesn't work...is there a default, or any ideas what I can do?
I have the same problem
I've just flashed my Qtek 9090 to WM6 and love it! Thanks to those responsible, it's given a second life to my old phone.
However, sometimes when plugging the device in to my laptop via USB, it actually de-charges the phone slowly, rather than charging it (never know which way it may go at any given time).
The 2 times it has discharged, after recharging my password no longer works. The hint is still there, but the password isn't accepted.
Anyone know how to get around this? The last time it happened all I could think of doing is starting from scratch and re-flashing.
Thanks for any assistance you can provide!

password
I had a problem with the password too. in fact, it happened TWICE, my p3600 does not recognize my password and i had to do a hard reset in order to use the device again, then i'd lost all my data. i am a Apple user so i did not back it up, actually i do not know how to sync my WM6 with my Apple.
now i do not use the password in fear that it may happen again. is this a bug with WM6? apparently i am not the only one how experience the problem with the password.
Trying Sprint Backup for PPC
I've had to re-install everything one too many times, so I'm now evaluating Sprite Backup(http://www.spritesoftware.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=191) which seems to be the only backup utility that will backup all settings and installs to the PPC in case of problem.
I've downloaded and installed, and have backed up my device to my laptop, but haven't yet tested a re-install of the image. Hopefully it will do the trick. I'll post back here to confirm.
The password issue seems to be a bug to me - I was hoping somebody knew of the issue and that perhaps there is a default password that works when the situation arises...
Kwake
@kwake
would you provide the site for the sprint backup so i an check it out. so basically this software backs up all your PPC settings ...calendar, contacts...etc, right? can you give more details of how it works?
thanks
Sprite Backup Website
This is a great program - many times already I've had to reformat my PPC due to the password issue mentioned in this thread. So far I haven't seen any response from anyone on the subject, so until then, this is what I use to get my full PPC install (not just contacts and address book) back in a matter of minutes:

same problem for me too - does anyone have an answer?
I am really surprised nobody has a solution thus far. It's obviously a bug...
This bug is well known and reported ( http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Trinity_Problems )
Isn't there any solution yet???
Solution
This is the only way to solve this issue. Yes its a BUG.
The Password is no longer stored correcly when you loose your battery.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1164331
No patch avalible until now.
I can say I had the same problem. Its a bug from those idiots at HTC.
There is no workaround as far as I know.
HTC SOFTWARE IS BUGGY AND THEY DONT CARE ABOUT SUPPORT!
BUY ANOTHER BRAND NEXT TIME!
Have a look here:
http://www.htcclassaction.org/
These HTC money-makers keep launching new models and leave the old ones unfinished and buggy ... and us who bought them in the sh..
For those looking for a backup solution, SPB Backup is another possibility, and when i tried it out, i could do a full backup, hard reset and then run a restore andmy Trinity was exactly as it was before the reset. Rumur has it the latest version will even restore across ROM upgrades,
Damn Sprite Backup!
Any news about this?
Today was the first time I used Sprite Backup and if I cannot restore my data and the registry from the backup file since it doesn't accept the password anymore, this is also absolutely the last time I'm using this damn software!

Hi, for some strange reason my wizard hangs at the boot screen some times after reseting after running spb backup. I have set spb to to a backup at 4am every alternate day so when i wake up in the morning i know my data is all backed up. It has worked fine for a while now but for some reason it just stays at the windows boot screen and when i wake up in the morning the battery is low It also happens sometimes when i regularly soft reset, and i found once the backlight turns off during reboot and i dont press a button to bring the backlight on it seems to hang then. Otherwise its fine. Its really quite frustrating because i use my wizard as an alarm clock and i was late to school today because it didn't go off because of this problem. Ive got oamp clock plus installed plus a few other tweaks but its never given me problems before. Its also a G4 wizard if that helps.
Thanks!!
you can always sell me your wizard
Install in main memory
Do you have it installed in main memory? I had this problem with an older version installed on the SD card. Moving it to main memory fixed the problem. Also, are you using the current version, which I think is 1.55
Its installed on the main memmory and i have version 1.12 build 2050. I think i might try 2 upgrade then and see what happens.
well i updated spb backup to the latest version and that doesnt seem to work. It now seems to freeze on the windows mobile screen on most soft resets, which are done from the os, ie installing a new program and being asked to soft reset..it freezes on that reset so i have to push the soft reset button. Is there any other options? i dont particularly want to do a hard reset as it would take me ages to tweak and install it all back up to scratch.

It doesn't sound to me like spb backup is actually the problem, if you can't install the program properly. I would recommend a hard reset. Since our system is working at the moment, you can be organized, copying setting files, my documents, etc. to the sd card. I can generally get back up and running with 95% of my tweaks after a hard reset in an hour. (It is worth keeping a file with program passwords, etc.) This is also a good time to upgrade your ROM, too. One flaw of Windows Mobile is that it doesn't uninstall programs properly, so that files get left. Eventually, a hard reset is a good idea to clean this stuff up.
By the way, an advantage of installing programs on the sd card is that they continue to work. Copy the shortcuts from windows/start menu onto the sd card and you can replace them without reinstalling. Most require reinserting the passwords, however. The programs that shouldn't go on the sd card are programs that (i) have a today plugin (ii) backup programs and other programs that have to perform a soft reset and continue to operate. SD cards don't start up right away coming out of a soft reset, so may not be available when needed in these instances.
Same with Sunnysoft Backup Manager
I have the same problem with SBM, both version 3 and 4. I did notice that it was hung up, I unplugged it and the backup started working. I do not know why, but it helped.
Alrighty then looks like ill have to do a hard reset. Is there a thread that will show me the right way to back up contacts etc and generally make a hard reset easier. I have a G4 wizard thats locked so im not so confident in upgrading my rom. Crossbow would be nice tho. I did manage to install spb back up to the main memmory on the ungrade but that didnt solve my problem. Oh well i guess its time to clean out ye old wizard on the weekend. Geez there goes my HSC.
Thanks.
Outlook
I sync with outlook, which preserves my contacts through a rom upgrade. If you upgrade the ROM you can't use the backup file -- contacts are stored in another form. I hear that it is possible to sync with Yahoo intellisync to the web, but I haven't personally tried it. In any case, syching seems to be the recommended means of saving that information. Don't forget to save your files, although those you can get from a backup.
FYI, I've been having the same problem (i.e., auto-backup, soft reset, FREEZE) since I installed the newest Faria ROM AKU 2.2.
The commonality, I think, might be the latest version of Omap Plus. There also seems to be a problem in general with this ROM of doing soft resets whilst USB is connected (which is how I do my nightly backups/resets).
If you haven;t done that hard reset yet, you might want to wait a day or two... I'll run some experiments tonight to see if Omap is the problem.
Alrightly ill wait, its wierd that it could be oamp clock plus as i have been using that for a while with no real problems. its only over clocked to 216mhz and that just makes it a bit more, lets say, perky than its regular clock speed. Im using OS 2.16... original I-mate Kjam rom on a G4 wizard. Im tossing up whether to pay 50 buks Aus. and get it unlocked, thats a fair amount of cash for some one who lives off bittorrent
I'd be surprised if OMAP is the problem
I've never had a problem with Omap. I'm using whatever came with Faria 3.3, which I assume is the latest. I've had one failed backup (it was only 48KB instead of the normal 5.5MB, so something failed) but otherwise no problems.
yeh, well ive been doing some more playing around with my phone and it just keeps stuffing up. I think its time to do a hard reset to clean out the junk n stuff. I think a G4 CID unlocking program is in the works that will be out soon. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293080 check out the pics.
Thanks.
Same problem here, also started out in February.. Unfortunately, can only offer my company for having this problem. I even tried a hard reset and then restore some old backup but with the same hanging... Windows Mobile really confuses me... I guess it is the "save to flash" thing that happens after a few seconds and not immediately.. Please keep me posted on your problem... I have been soft resetting almost 4 times a day daily since the start of February...
Sorry, no answers. OMAP Plus is fine.; for me, the problem seems to be being on the USB plug. SPB Backup works fine otherwise.
Well i could wait any longer, so i flashed with molskis G4 aku2.3 rom, i had to flash with wizard_love rom first to get the os upgraded but then flashed again with molskis to get the cuztomisations. all on a locked G4. Awsome. Its so fast now compared to before. And well i think it solved the problem as well. I think we should contiue this thread so as to find a solution other than reflashing, as i was up until 1am fixing it all up again.
Thanks!
duh... yup, I am still a newbie to flashing new roms...
Did you CID unlock your G4? ;-)
nah havent cid unlocked my G4, duno if it really worth the money. I think i can wait until the boys at the G4 unlocking project work something out. They always seem to. At least i think my G4 is locked, i bought it off a friend who i dont think even knew what sort of phone it was. ohh well im happy with my mollski.
I don't know but there is all these "I bricked my phone" thing going around with G4 wizards. I also considered Molski's but back off after reading all these negative responses...
Fair enough, i havent had any problems with molskis aku 2.3 rom and it has some nice customisations as well. i tell you what tho, my phone has never booted up qicker since i installed the molski rom. if only for that reason i would do it. were talking less than a minute, my older rom took ages.
New sprint rom?? http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=10293&page=3
http://download.america.htc.com/RUU_...PL106_Ship.exe
It's been confirmed. That is the new official ROM for Sprint. It fixes the Bluetooth issues among others. No Rev. A or GPS of course, but that was expected.
question is, is this really "better" than the alltel rom that has been available for a long time already over at PPCgeeks...
The alltel rom fixed the BT and alarm problem as well. I'm excited to see that Sprint finally caught up, but I'm wondering if this is better than the setup I currently have.
Well I for one am happy and upset.. I would like to see REV A , as I need the faster upload speeds for sending big files from my 4gb micro sd.
I havent tried the Alltel rom, but the new sprint rom fixes the keyboard lag + wm6 responsiveness problems.
After reading all of the threads over at PPCGeeks, it seems like there are some mixed results on the ROM (to be expected I guess, you can't appease everyone.)
-Most are reporting the BT fix worked correctly.
-I didn't see anyone say that the Alarm fix didn't work
-People are reporting that the OS seems a little faster and better at managing memory, such as reclaiming more when you close an app, etc.
-The radio version on the Sprint ROM is 1.47, compared to 1.40 of the Alltel, some were reporting better reception between this one and the stock rom (1.32 I believe)
-the most widely spread issue I saw was that some users were having issues with their dpad not working. At first, someone pinned it down to sprinttv, as it worked after they removed it, but then others said that the problem returned.
-YMMV, but some reported that when they skipped the sprint customization of the rom (when it starts initially, after the 3 second delay where you can soft reset) it caused issues on their phone. One person said that a workaround for this was to let it install EVERYTHING initially, and then do a hard reset and skip the customization process. It makes sense that if it were something with the EXTRom that it might put something in there that you needed, but again, not sure on this one.
-I can't believe how many people were stuck on the idea that they would be able to use Sprite Backup or SPB Backup to restore all of their stuff. Let me say this again, because I don't think it can be said enough. Unless you are just restoring folders such as your documents or something non-system related, you CANNOT use these programs. You WILL overwrite the new files with the old ones, causing a boatload of issues, if it even works at all. So don't do it, or you will cause yourself some headaches. Activesync remembers the apps you have installed, so just sync afterwards and click the boxes. For your other stuff such as contacts, back those up with a contact backup app or sync with outlook if you've got it.
just my two cents.

Just to clarify this is part. A hard reset will completely erase any carrier customizations there is absolutely no reason for installing extrom, hard resetting then skipping. Just start out with the hard reset, skip customizations and you'll be good to go.
Although there are still the other bugs with the update =)
Just installed it a while ago, skipped the sprint customizations, everything seems to be running good and actually noticeably quicker than before. New startup screen is cool too, no problems thus far =)
do yourself a favor and wait for the next rom. If you didn't already experiance it, your device will lock up and go to sleep requiring a soft reset...very unusable. and BT will turn off after a few minutes randomly.
load the colonel's rom on, it's much better imho
Seems to only happen to some people though. I have had my phone on pretty much straight since the rom update.
there seems to be a major bluetooth issue where the BT just shuts off periodically.. Not sure how,but they found a way to make bluetooth even worse!
I can't carry on a conversation without BT shutting off on me.. (or use the gps without it shutting off/etc..)

I haven't updated yet, plan to over the weekend, but I would suggest anyone having problems to stop and consider their setup first...
1. What programs are installed that could cause problems?
2. What registry hacks have been done that may cause problems?
3. What configuration settings might need reset that may cause problems?
For example, after a hard reset, Enhanced Network over USB is enabled by default, and this often causes Active Sync to have issues. Likewise, power management tweaks will have reverted to defaults and you may like a more finely tuned setup.
As for memory leaks being better/worse, you may have programs installed that are out of date/buggy.
I realize it's easier to jump on the "this sucks" bandwagon, but it doesn't help you or other users with legitimate problems when no consideration is given to what is causing a given problem.
These situations are precisely why the instructions tell you that EVERYTHING will be erased. This is a good thing since it forces you to clean house, but it also means you have to pay attention to those things you often neglect or may have changed ages ago and forgotten.
Finally, if all else fails, try the ROM update again. Sometimes things go wrong.
Sorry if this seems like a rant, I just want people having issues to place blame where it truly belongs. After considering these matters, if you still have problems, definitely let HTC and the rest of us know.
Best Regards,
Aaron

My experience is as simple and "vanilla" as it gets:
-Loaded new ROM
-Hard reset
-Stopped customizations
-Installed NO apps, did not turn on BT, made no calls, did nothing else
-3 DSODs in 4 hours
-Did a second flash (from a second computer with a freshly downloaded ROM)
-Hard reset
-Allowed customizations to run
-Again no apps, BT or calls
-DSOD within an hour

Sounds atypical to me, given that most users are updating without issue and experiencing better results. I have no reason to doubt your experience though... it sounds like you have faulty hardware, but here's a download link to the previous firmware if you're interested in trying it out first:
http://www.htcamerica.net/support/mogul/software-downloads.html
No, "most" users are not experiencing better results. I've been using this ROM with poor results, as have many others. Read this thread for many sad tales of woe:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=10302
Basically, the new ROM does fix a bunch of things, but breaks others, so I would not recommend installing this ROM.
1) Locks up when changing from Sprint to roaming. You can test this by manually switching from Sprint to roaming and back a few times, you WILL get a phone lockup.
2) BT turns off randomly for many users.
3) Turn on BT, let unit sit for a few minutes until it goes to sleep, turn unit back on, dpad no longer works. I have seen this myself many times.
Don't install this update --- use the Alltel ROM or wait for another update.

1) You're incorrect in stating that most users have no problems, etc. Some do, some don't. Read the posts at ppcgeeks, pdaphonehome, BAW, hofo. I am not at all alone in having problems.
2) I downgraded 2 days ago, and my Mogul runs fine again - just exactly like it did for the 1st 3 months I had it. It's not my hardware! It's a bad ROM release.
Not everyone uses the phone in the same way at all. So of course some people will not see the same problems that others do.
If you never use Bluetooth and never roam, then this ROM will work for you. Otherwise, it will cause problems. For me, Bluetooth works much better in 2.09, and I rarely if ever see lockups as I have with 2.16. So, I'm going with 2.09 for now. The alarm problem IS fixed in 2.16 but I never use alarms on my phone so it's not an issue for me. Freezes when roaming ARE a problem.

is colonels rom built on the alltel core rom? if so it may be our best bet as of now.
Hi Everyone,
I really hope this hasn't been asked before, I have, of course, tried searching but it's a complicated issue to search for. I posted a similar question in the Q&A thread before I did some more investigating but received no response.
I love my HD2 when it's on top form but it only seems to run like this for a maximum of 24h. After this the memory usage goes up from about 48% to 58% with nothing running and everything responds terrible slowly. The most noticeable/irritating issue is when trying to type a text message. Each key takes about a second to respond and it is so slow that if I type at normal speed it misses all the spaces I type and I end up with just one long garbled word. It is not just this that slows however, it's the entire phone. Navigating tabs in sence, flicking through texts, using and closing applications, scrolling up and down anything, the weather animation, Duttys task manager all become unusable. As soon as I soft reset it's fine again.
Incidentally the phone behaved exactly the same before I upgraded to the 1.66 Vodafone ROM (from 1.43). I always hoped the ROM upgrade would fix the problem but it did not.
Since posting the original question (where I was suspecting an app or manilla tweak to be the cause) I decided to hard reset and not install anything to see if the issue persisted. It did.
So, has anyone else had this problem. Should I be thinking about sending it back to HTC. I only hard reset this morning and since then have setup email, synced with myphone, setup wireless and setup facebook, twitter and youtube in sence and listened to some music already on my SD card. nothing else. and now it's ridiculously slow again.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks everyone.
Murg
It does sound faulty I'm afraid. If a hard reset doesn't fix it then it's probably the device. You could try a custom ROM, but it probably wouldn't fix anything, and then you'd have to flash it back to its original state before sending it away for replacement.
My guess would be to send it back as faulty. Just make sure that it's running slow when you turn it off before sending it back, or they'll most likely turn it on, see no immediate problem and just put the latest ROM on and call it "fixed".
i have the same exept mine was fine on vf 1.43 rom. have hard reset and reflshed but no beter so i asume its the vf rom? keep thinking of flashing custom rom but never done it before
Thanks for the replies so far. i have posted this on the Vodafone eforum and sent it to HTC support so we'll see what they have to say.
Are there any Vodafone stock ROM users on here who defiantly don't have this problem?
I don't want to HSPL my device on account of my warranty. (yes i know you can uninstall it but what what if my buttons break, or my screen becomes unusable for example) cant afford to buy a replacement so I just ain't doing it yet. (as much as I'd like to)
If it is the ROM there is no point sending it back to Vodafone.. does anyone know if I can send a Vodafone device back to HTC themselves?
Many Thanks
Murg
Hi murgers
Im on Vodafone in UK. Have you a cleanRAM -HTC Addicts- app on your HD2? there are others available!
In brackets below taken from info sheet on download of file.
(Release memory for Windows Mobile devices.
Amazing utility which helps you to clean up the wasted RAM memory without having to restart the device and eventually saves a lot of time.)
If you have not tried using a clean RAM app, try search on this forum and try on your phone. It really helps free up anything up to 30 - 40 MB ram at a time
Hope this helps

I have received a response from HTC as follows:
Thank you for contacting us.
In regards to the problems you are currently experiencing, it seems that you have a number of software issues here. Therefore, the only thing i can suggest is to book your phone in for repair so we can have a look into this further. You can do this by calling 08458900079 and speaking to one of our HTC representatives.
If a hard reset and a ROM upgrade did not improve the performance of your phone then this is the next best alternative.

Sounds like HTC are blaming the Vodafone ROM.
How does returning to HTC work? will i have to pay anything? Do they collect the phone? how long will it take? How can I prove the issue exists, do I send the phone 'on' and whist experiencing the fault?
As said before it's unlikely that sending it back to Vodafone will yield any results.
if you phone htc then they will send someone to yours to pick up the phone in a few days. the whole process takes about a couple weeks and then they ship it back to you
when i sent my phone off for repair i went into a tmobile (my operator) shop and they sent it off for me, and then got a text back when the phone was back, i went back to the shop to pick it up
the whole process took 13 days
this did not solve my problem so i went back to a tmobile shop and am getting a full exhange (swapping for a new phone) on wednesday
hope this helps
its all very simple
Theres a very simple fix... clear your text messages.
This was my issue too which was addressed in another post. When my phone synced with MyPhone, it downloaded thousands of messages and caused major problems. the reason I didn't have issues on my tilt has something to do with sense integration. another option is to disable the sense text messenger app and use the default winmo app.
This is why it works fine for the first 24 hours. When MyPhone syncs overnight and retrieves your texts you get the slowdown.
Hope this helps.
I get this also. Have a t-mobile phone but since flashed it to xannytech, but I still get this.
I had suspected it might be something to do with MyPhone. There a good backup solution I can use that's not this ? Might re-flash and never use it again.
Does the OP use myphone too ?? Might be the common theme...
It's not MyPhone that causes the problem. That simply restores things that you've deleted. If you archive your text message using the MyPhone web interface then they'll be deleted off your phone next time you sync, but they'll still be available online.
That doesn't make any sense. I haven't deleted any text messages. The phone works perfectly quickly, but after a day or so it suddenly starts going really slow. i.e. it takes 30s after pressing 'talk' for the phone to start ringing, typing in messages is slow, the weather goes all stuttery. No programs appear to be running. Restarting the phone fixes it again, but this is pretty annoying.
I had thought it might be myphone or some other service doing something funny in the background. Any way to debug this?
as someone has allready said, i have Cleanram app scheduled to run twice a day and very rarely have an issue. Its all in the background so you dont even notice it running
Ah okay - I thought you were referring to the ongoing discussion and previous talk of how myphone was affecting the OP.
Why don't you just set myphone to sync manually. That way it never does anything in the background. I seriously doubt it's myphone that is causing the problems you have described.
I'd suggest uninstalling apps 1-by-1 to see if the problem suddenly disappears, as it's something that you have installed that's causing the problem. Obviously, if you find the problem still occurs after removing something, you can then reinstall it and move onto the next app.
Will give cleanram a go, though I don't think memory is the problem (always seems to be plenty free when it slows down) - but worth a try!
Not sure it is something installed either, as I don't really have much installed other than myphone, marketplace, google maps and like one game. .... other than of course what came with Xannytech's ROM, but had same issue before and after I put this on anyhow
cheers
Just happened again and tried cleanram, but did not help. It's like something is really hogging the CPU and everything responds slowly, but nothing is running in task manager.
Does anyone know if there is there anyway to show what services are running? Or any other way to debug?
thanks
@rathga
how many text messages are stored on your device?
I have a suspicion that perhaps you didn't grasp what I was saying regarding Myphone.
Hi Rathga - My HD2 does exactly the same thing, with absolutely exactly the same symptoms I've never used myphone though.
I'm on stock O2 (1.43?) and have only really installed TomTom, Hotfixes and Ranster Device Reset (to cope with this issue!)
Often after I keep using it I get prompted to send a debug message to MS with an error in filesys.exe - I'll update this with full details when it happens next
I'm installing this cleanram to see if it helps somehow

Try looking at this thread in the HD2 General forum (sorry can't post links)
'CPU usage is 100% when running Opera'
This was causing me some problems. Clearing the Opera cache certainly seemed to work.
Andy.
Hi,
Don't know if anyone is interested any more or still having this problem but I realised I didn't post a resolution to the problem when I figured out that was causing it.
The Problem was caused by...... Dah Dah Dah.....TEXT MESSAGES.
I had about 1000 text messages shared between the inbox and outbox and apparently this was way too much for the phone to cope with. This really annoyed me as I never had to delete them on my TyNn II (or any other phone I've ever owned for that matter), Iphone and Android users never have to delete them what what is with that!!!.
Sure enough after using MyPhone to 'Archive' the texts the phone sprang back to it speedy old self. Put them back on and Bam... slows to a stop over the course of an hour or so. I don't understand why this happens but I am 100% confident that this was the source of all the problems.
I Still have to archive my texts as I notice it starting to slow down when I reach about 500ish. Very Annoying.

Try as follows:
Get a junk cleaner and clean all temps
Get SKTools do a Autoclean and switch on all shadow-background services.
This might help to get Your HD2 running smooth as mine for weeks .............
weird issue here. every few weeks suddenly my password is not accepted anymore. this always results is the phone hard resetting after 9 failed attempts.
it is a 4 number "####" password which is my birthday and the same numeric password ive used my entire life. i even sent the hint as the password just in case something went wrong.
might this have something to do with the CHT 1.7.1 lock screen? i had the same issue using CHT 1.6, 1.7, and soon enough 1.8
i have everything basically saved on my sd card so im quite good at re-setting up my phone again every time but surely i am not the only person with this issue.
any help would be greatly appreciated here as i am terrified to lock my phone, everytime.
thanks
jason
happened to me 3 times
2 times I was soft resetting due a -Reg tweak- i have now S2U2 it has a password but it is really easy to jump s2u2, sometimes it doesnt even ask it after rebooting.
I have to say that all the time when i had the password problem i was using Sense. there were 2 weeks when i didnt use it(i was using titanium) and it was ok, however i can blame sense, don't have any evidence besides my experience, im not using anymore sense but im afraid to put the windows password, i have modified so much my phone...
by the way i use spb ms.
I had this happen on my HD2 about a week or 2 after I bought it and created a thread, seems others had it happen too. I ended up having to hard reset. Its not happened since and its probably been over 2 months
well here i am , yet again staring down the barrel of a loaded password gun. in on try 7 out of 10 and surely ill have to hard reset my phone again.
does no one have an answer for this nightmare situation?
jason
It happened to me twice before I stopped using sense and started using SPB Mobile Shell. It hasn't happened since.
thats it, ive switched to spb mobile shell 3.5.3. its pretty good and although not quite as clean to the eye as sense, it seems a bit more customizable. i like it and already notice increased performance (or decreased lagging)
thanks
jason
No problems with SPB MS 3.5?
Glad to hear it. I'm going to start using the password then.
by the way I tried to modify spb to look like sense, here are some S.shots.
BTW, has anyone figured out a way to get the HTC Sense application for stock quotes into SPB Mobile Shell?
This is a known problem with the T-Mo HD2. It was to be fixed in the recent update. Happened to me twice. Installed SPB Backup so if it happens again, I'm back up and running in 10 minutes.
just a little follow up here. i installed spb mobile shell 3.5.5 and i have to say this was the best move i could have made. it is:
1) super stable
2) very customizable ( i had thought sense was the nicest but ive since changed that opinion)
3) fast fast fast. this runs much faster than it did with sense. (sense always ran at 45%-50%, this runs around 33%-38%)
4) no freeze ups, period. streaming media plays great as well.
my coworker also switched and says the same thing. it isnt even close. my password woes are gone, and:
i also installed spb backup and it is also awesome. one click and everything is back exactly as it was in 15 seconds. i even hard reset my phone to do a test today and it worked flawlessly.
best,
jason
Since flashing Duttys WM6.5 Leo Holy Grail ROM to my HD I have been very impressed with it's performance, 99% of the time it is responsive and stable and seems happy even though several programs are running. It has made my HD a really nice phone.
But every now and again something weird will happen, usually activesync reports a problem, or all of my contacts vanish, sometimes files on the device (not SD) cannot be accessed. So I soft reset and it doesn't boot, it will get stuck on the orange splash screen.
In total it has happened about 4 times since I flashed the ROM on Dec 29. It happened last night and eventually the device loaded the background picture, then popped up an error dialogue saying something about being unable to open a file, there was no mention of the file name. I did a soft reset and it then automatically performed a hard reset.
The other times the phone just hangs on the orange splash screen every time, causing me to perform a hard reset manually. Sometimes it will work fine for a good few days, or sometimes fail after only 1 day.
Its really annoying. I cant seem to get a HTC that works at the moment. My TP2 is rubbish, I've tried several ROM's and it is consistently unstable, so I go back to my HD which was always reliable... And now this happens.
please Help or I'll be forced to turn to the darkside and get an iphone and I really don't want to do that!
Why not just return to the "reliable" firmware version used previously?
I'm not a fan of custom roms or 6.5, especially on this underpowered model, it's definitely the most reliable handheld I own or have owned with oem roms though, especially without it's resource gobbling pretty face on.
Not really the most helpful answer, but i suppose i cannot argue the reasoning behind it.
In defence of this ROM it is BRILLIANT when it is working, i'd actually argue that the device feels smoother with this ROM than it did with the stock Orange UK ROM.

Have you tried asking your question in one of Duttys threads. You may get a better response. Also, try flashing a different rom
Thanks.
Since posting the message the problem has not come back.
I have been thinking that there is a possibility that my server was hacked, i noticed a few things had changed on the server, i also had notices when i logged in to facebook and paypal, informing me that someone from New York had accessed my account. the server and facebook used to have the same password.
Is it possible that the problem i had was caused by a hacker on my exchange server issuing a command to reset the device? i know it can do something like this to protect data in the event of a phone going missing.
what does the device do if exchange server performs this routine?
Please help me find this problem... i dont want to buy an Iphone!
Ok I tried a different Rom, this time i used one of KWBR's:
http://media.celogeek.com/roms/kwbr/..._5.7_Sense.rar
a month down the line and its just started to go wrong again.
this time, i find that the device slows down a little bit, prompting me to soft reset, when it boots i find that my contacts are missing, active sync will not load properly, it briefly flashes on screen but lower 1/3rd of active sync window is missing (appears transparent or black) only way to get contacts back and active sync working again is hard reset!
Anyone got any ideas what might be going on?
its been doing this now on both ROM's but i have no idea what may be causing it, as far as additional software i only install a few apps: Slimcontrol 1.5, Core player & GcZ2 (geocaching tool) which all have been running fine before.
