AT&T TILT and TYTN 2 BATTERY MANUFACTURED LOCATIONS - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Accessories

okay guys,
I had two "identical" TILTS in my hand and from just glancing at them, they are identical. Then I looked closely at the battery's manufacturing location and one was MADE IN KOREA, and then the other one MADE in CHINA. The batteries apparently came from different factories, and was wondering where are all you guy's battery from?
Thanks

mine is made in korea. i bought the kaiser in Hong Kong.

my battery was made in china. do you notice a difference in battery life between the two?

I have to Tilts in hand also and one the 2 batteries are different. Both are obviously OEM. The one on my first Kaiser is a Samsung with black plastic on the metal on the back of the battery while the other is a DynaPack without anything on the metal back. Both of which are made in China. I am wondering if this difference has any effect on power. With the Samsung battery I was able to go 2 days without charging. On my new Tilt, which I just received yesterday, I haven't been able to try it out for long but it doesn't seem like it's been as good as the Samsung. I will report back with more info once I use them both for a while.
Check out the pics.

Just got my tilt and it came with a DynaPac and says "product of China"

I left both of them on, with BLUETOOTH, WIFI connected, HSDPA , FULL Brightness and GPS ENABLED......The Samsung one out lasted Made in China one by about 45 minutes. I was able to get close to 5 hours with the SAMSUNG ONE.
I charged both of the devices for 24 hours ahead of the testing, and the Dynapak one is the least powerful one. Both had been using for more than 1 month now, so the break in is already there and both were charged to max before they were used. I read up on how to maximize the battery before and followed the guidelines so, the batteries were treated the same ways.
That's my result, how are your guy's?

Samsung, product of Korea, here.

Samsung and from Korea as well. From an OEM sealed TyTN II.

To have a valid result of the tests you should have turned off WiFi and data, unless you make sure that the same amount of data is being transferred in both tests. Especially HSPA is known to drain battery very quickly so if you have mail checking enabled and your phone downloads some messages that makes your tests uneven. Not to mention if someone calls you in meantime
It's hard to imagine that the difference is so huge. Hence my suggestions.

The Samsung batteries came from the earlier batches of Tytn II in Hong Kong. The latest batch all have Dynapacks. I have the Samsung one and it doesn't heat up as much as the Dyna ones.
However, the newer Tytn II seem to have a different screen. The touch screen feels softer and doesn't work as well under sunlight. However, the Tytn II with Samsung battery has weird horizontal lines on the screen that looks like the LCD is constantly refreshing. Sent it to HTC but they returned it to me saying its normal. I also noticed these lines on older Tytn II's including the demo machine. My friend's machine which came with the Dynapack however does not suffer from this problem.

2 Batteries for Kaiser

AT&T lemon-law'd my Tilt (3 qualified warranty repairs means a free upgrade to a Fuze!) and I've got two Kaiser batteries I won't be needing ever again. I'll trade 'em for anything anyone in the forum thinks is a fair deal. I know used batteries are a crapshoot, so I don't expect much, you can just have them for whatever everyone else thinks is fair.
The batteries:
1 - Stock Kaiser battery that came with the phone. DynaPack KAIS160 1350 mAh standard battery. Will fit behind standard battery cover. Got it in December 2007, still lasts a full day with Bluetooth on and very moderate internet use. I usually get a few hours of video with it, so it's still a good battery.
2 - Cameron Sino battery. CS-TP4550XL 1600 mAh standard sized battery. Will fit behind standard battery cover. Lasts a full day under same usage conditions, also good for a few hours of video. Bought in September 2008 for a business trip, used about 50% of the time the last few months switching with the other battery.
Also available for anyone who wants it, since I'm only sending AT&T the phone back:
Battery cover
A stylus or two
Anything in the original retail box (including the box itself), if you really want it.
I'll entertain any offer, regardless of how stupid. Obviously, I'd prefer money towards the purchase of a new spare battery for the Fuze/Touch Pro, but I'll take whatever anyone else thinks is fair. I have no expectations. If you're unsure to trust, but are a prominent member of the forum, you can have the batteries first and pay me later after evaluating them.
Anyone have questions about the "lemon" clause of the warranty? This one surprised me and was my Christmas present from AT&T.
send 'em my way and I'll see if they're good. I'll send you some random stuff (I've got a ton of random stuff from car shows, trade shows, etc.. ) in return if they're good to go. If I think they suck, I'll send 'em back and STILL include some random stuff
don't trust me? google my screen name.. I'm not hard to find.
Since no one else seems interested in what amounts to two free batteries, I guess they're all yours. What's the cheapest way to ship?
To 22079, possibly USPS? I'll be sure to return as much to you to make like shipping costs. Hit me up on email at [email protected]
if the offer is still good i'd like a free batter or a stylus or two?
also i'm interested in how you got your replacement fones. I want to get mine replaced(im still under att manufacturer's warranty). What is the best excuse?
My fone has been acting sluggish, calls have been fading in and out, but they keep telling me its the network and not the phone.

Thinking about a new Vogue

Alright, I might as well prove mods don't know it all. I'm thinking about purchasing a new Vogue and going with Sprint. I've got a few questions here.
1) I think I've gathered that GPS capability is on this phone...it just has to be activated with proper settings or a new ROM. Will someone set me straight on this?
2) What are your thoughts on battery life?
3) What are your thoughts on call reception and service?
4) How is the build quality?
Radio Shack is getting rid of the last ones for $19.95 w/a new contract. Though I don't like the idea of getting an older phone (I've had a Wizard for 3 years now) I love the form factor and as long as XDA is around and these things are upgradable, I'll probably enjoy it.
Dang, this board is dead...I guess we'll just have to close it up, hehehe.
1) The Vogue DOES have GPS capability, it will work with or without a data connection.
2) My Vogue's battery life usually runs a whole day (24 hrs) with heavy usage, with light usage it runs about 2 days-2.5 days...
3) In my area its pretty good reception, and I commute to my school, which is 25 miles away, and I get really good reception in that area
4) I think the build quality is really good. I've dropped the phone on concrete more than twice, and pretty hard too, and the only thing that happened was the case came off, and the battery as well, but its just like legos, put it back together, other than that just minor scratches...
I recommend a screen protector
Hope that helped! Didint wanna leave you hanging lol
Thanks for the response. Though I'd like get a Touch Pro, I'd rather have a device that won't cost an arm and a leg with most of the capability.
I believe sprint recently removed the touch from their site. Hope you can find one locally!
I just got my Vogue from US Cellular in December. I'm located in a rural part of Iowa. I have activated the GPS, and it normally connects very quickly. I bought it knowing the GPS was not activated, and was not sure if it would be possible, so this was a definite bonus for me.
Battery life is generally pretty good, about what manifest said, although steady web surfing will drain it pretty quickly. I drained the battery in a couple of hours one day when I was with family members who were shopping and I was accessing information on the web and writing a sermon and a newsletter column. (I'm a minister.)
I've been very pleased with the call reception. I'm not on the Sprint system, but the call quality is very good. USC is supposed to be rolling out evdo in my area later this year (fingers crossed), and even without it most web sites load pretty quickly, and when I am in ev areas it loads like my broadband at home.
The vogue seems to be very solid. I've dropped it a few times, and I didn't even have to put the battery back in. Soon after I got it, I bought an aluminum case for it. Black. Until I open it up, people think its just the black phone. My wife has picked it up and wondered why tapping on the screen doesn't do anything, until she realizes its the window on the case. It's the least bulky option for a case I have seen, it protects the phone well, and it keeps buttons and the screen from being pushed when I don't intend to. The downside is that it drops reception by a bar when the cover is closed. I still seldom miss a call.

GPS is activated on the phone with WM 6.1, so that should not be an issue for you.
Battery life will vary wildly depending on your location. At home my reception is 1xRTT and battery will drian pretty fast. At work I have EvDO and battery life will nearly double. I can web surf, email, listen 8 hours to music over bluetooth stereo all at work, and make a call or two at home in the evening with no problem. However, I did invest in a larger battery from Seidio. Yes it makes the phone 4 mm thicker, but I've actually come to like the slightly thicker size. Seems a bit easier to handle and to finger touch the screen more accurately.
Call reception has been great in both the city and at home. There is one dead spot on the way to work, but I car pool with two others who each have different carriers, and it appears to be a dead spot for everyone. If you need to call customer support, it's generally a pleasure. I've yet to reach someone whose first language is not English. Yes, they have to go through their standard troubleshooting script, but if you are pleasant to them they are pleasant back, and they do seem knowledgeable. I tend to call support on the weekends or early mornings, and have never waited more than 3 minutes to get a live person on the phone.
The phone is sturdy, feels solid, even with my new battery cover, which leaves a slightly hollow space in much of the back. Dropped it a few times with no ill effects.
I would say take advantage of the deal.
I actually bought two new Vogues from from RadioTrash, upgrading from a couple of 3 year old Sanyo MM-8300 flip phones. At first, I was a little worried about some things on the Vogues:
The reception in my rural area of Missouri was horrible compared to the older Sanyo phones; 0-1 bar compared to 3-4 bars.
My battery life wasn't anywhere near what the earlier poster said. After multiple charges, I was lucky to get 6 hours of standby time on a full charge (and thats with screen off most of the time).
I wasn't really figuring out the purpose of the big silver button at the bottom with the square four-direction action ring. I am still not sure of the best way to use this, yet it looks very important being so big and obvious on the front of the phone.
Right before I was about ready to take the phones back, I received some expert help from some of the users here and loaded the same PRL that I had on my Sanyo phone into the Vogue phone and Wow! Now the Vogue is getting 3-4 bars in the basement of my rural home.
Next, I bought a Mugen Power 2400 mAh extended battery on-line for 70 bucks (shipped) from nakedcellphones.com and Wow again! Now I get over a week in standby or at least 8 hours talk time. The battery came with a new back cover (humpless type) to accomodate the thicker battery which was very well mathed to the original. The increased thickness of the phone is actually a better feel in my hands and I prefer it over the thinner OEM.
Next I went to a local Verizon store to get a new leather case to accomodate the thicker phone. This was at the recommendation of another user here, and even though this is a Sprint phone, they assisted me in finding the coolest case that I'm very happy with (26 bucks out the door)
Finally, I ordered a fantastic screen protector which is probably the best you can buy in terms of feel, durability, scratch resistance, viewability, and touch screen sensitivity. Paid 15 bucks (shipped), enough to do four phones at photodon.com
Then I loaded the coolest ROM called DHarvey's Black Vista and I couldn't be happier with the way everything works (free).
Overall, I have to say that I am impressed with the build quality of these phones. Nothing really to break. But in all my wild on-line searches, I came across this Chinese site that sells all the OEM parts for this phone cheap should I need to replace something like a screen, a switch, a button, etc.
So in all here is the tally:
Phone: ........ $20
Battery: ........ 70
Case: ............ 26
Screen Film: ... 4
ROM .............. -0-
Total ........... $120
I am not at all dissapointed in what I have spent considering the performance, style, and quality that I now have. And its still less than I paid for the Sanyo phones when they were new ($149).

Ok just bought 2700 mah

Ok guys I just boouht a 2700 mah battery of ebay, so after it gets to me from hong kong I'll fill you gents in with a review
can you provide a link to the ebay page please?
ebay link i think
Ewww, that cover is going to completely muff the speaker on the back. If the speaker wasn't already low enough.
Pass...!
hey guys. not to rain on anyone's parade, but i've ordered batteries for my Nikon from hong kong through ebay. the batteries lasted about two months and performed subpar the whole time before finally dieing and refusing to take a charge.
i do hope you have a better experience then i. good luck!!
Damn!! Its gonna take forever to get it lol.. I would also like to see what the real-time specs are on it.. I'm a little weary on the quality of a $13.00 extended battery though But hey you cant knock it till you try it.
Order processed same business day (excluding weekends) and dispatched through HK Post within two business days.Generally, Delivery time is 10-25 business days to most countries.

Interesting, I'd say about 2 weeks, but wouldnt their be alot of extra space?
I bought a 3000mah battery for my Blackberry Bold off of Ebay a while back and it came from Hong Kong with a very similar looking plain black plastic extended cover. It was crazy cheap but it did work for the 9 months that I used it.
The only thing I have to warn you about those types of extended covers is that they are cheap and do not always fit perfectly. I had to find things to put between the back of the battery and the inside of the plastic cover otherwise the battery would occasionally fall out of the phone just far enough to shut off my phone. Other than that, it worked like a charm and was crazy cheap like I said.

[Q] How is your Optimus 7 holding up?

Hi everyone!
I was just wondering how everyone's Optimus 7 is holding up! Searching in Google I did not find that many problems... but I've been through hell with it!
First there were some fixed color vertical lines in the display... this was around 9 months after purchase. I did get bothered, but since they require 1 month (!!!) to send the repaired phone back to you here in Italy, I didn't send it.
Then it started rebooting a lot... gave some memory errors... and then finally would lock at the LG logo after rebooting a few times. Obviously at this point I sent it to repair... Ah, and the touchscreen was also not responsive at times.
I got it back, and the service center said that they made "electronic repairs". Fair enough, but... the touchscreen was still not responsive at times (the other problems were fixed)!
Then I send it again... got it back, now they said the exchanged the full motherboard. Should be fixed now, right? WRONG!!! Still the same problem!
Today I just sent it ONE MORE TIME to the repair center... I've been now almost two months without my phone, and I bought it only 13 months ago.
I've really lost faith in LG by now... So, what's YOUR experience with the phone? Am I unlucky or are these problems really common?
I've had no issues, and I can't really return mine as I live in the US and am using an unsupported phone.
The gorilla glass was a big seller for me because I hate screen protectors and even when they are on I still manage to scrath the glass. Aside from a minor scrath on the one side, the phone has taken my abuse with flying colors.
Was able to update and unlock my phone and runs quite well on AT&T's network.
Though there have been other reports of the issues you have had, I guess I'm just lucky.
not lucky too, my phone is now in service after a month use, i had problems with touchscreen
u talked about "not responsive at times", mine was working for itself - running application, scrolling on it's own, etc., once i look at the screen and had about 200 appointments
and as i red somewhere here, it was worse when i connected the phone to a charger, the difference was that i used original charger
My family use two E900 and two E906. No problems so far with the phones after a couple of months
Hardware wise it's fine and i am still pleased with it, it does not get recognized anymore by Zune though so probably i will be left behind when the new update comes up lol.
I have 2 of them and both of them randomly restart... I cannot use them anymore! LG Service in my country is unreliable and I'm saving money to buy 2 other models... LG devices are crap and I wouldn't say that if they were trying to support their customers with firmware updates or even some official announcements...they have left us eating their s%^& instead...
I bought one last October and it works fine till now (i receive all the updates)
It is vodafone branded and never flash it .
Well, mine (vodafone de) got a problem with the battery (poor) and video recording. It just freezes the camera app after I click cam button to end the recording.
Since I'm in russia and the service is in deutschland... it's dumb to send it back and then here again) It's easier to buy $300 lumia 710 here / $150 focus on ebay. Since I don't really use recording, i don't mind, I'll wait for wp8 devices.
As for the updates - flawless! I got them almost instantly, loving vodafone and LG support for the platform.
After 8 months mine started randomly reboot on its own, and as LG Support is not working across Europe I am now fighting seller (Amazon) to repair it. If not, I try to sell or repair and sell it.
And as I was never happy with WinPhone I hope I will get my money back and go for Android or iPhone afterall. Use to have WinMobile-system phones since 2004 but new Windows Phone is just a great mistake of Microsoft - greed is not always good advisor.
Hi All,
My Optimus is holding up quite well. I did have issues with the intermittent shutdown / reboot. This has disappeared since 8107 (maybe simply some luck?). I flashed my phone with a firmware from the forum here (thanks Nasirahmed), since then I have a dutch ROM and tethering. Then I updated with the force method to 8107 (I have little patience ).
Hardwarewise my Optimus has been topnotch. I dropped it from considerable heigth a few times and after reassembly of the battery and batterydoor it still works very well and there is no visible damage. Quite different from my former HTC diamond 2 and Xperia. The Xperia disintegrated spontaneous, got repaired and continued disintegrating. The Diamond 2 fell three times (from less heigth) every time there was visible damage and eventually the screen got broken (and repaired I must say). So I think the Optimus is a quite sturdy device.
Windows phone 7 is nice and fast, has considerable limitations (compared to for example Android and WM6.5) and I doubt it if I would buy a WP7 again.
My two cents.
Ronald
My phone came up today from the third visit to the repair center... let's see if it is finally OK!
About the Gorilla glass, something weird happened to me: after I dropped a few water drops on the screen back in December, some "air bubbles" appeared on the screen... When I first took the phone to assistance, the guy just said that it was the screen protector (???) and just removed it (in front of me), so indeed there is a screen protector... I neved noticed it before the bubbles appeared.
Anyway, if the glass of the screen is Gorilla Glass, why does it comes from the factory with a screen protector? Do I need to buy a new one (he said this wasn't covered in the warranty...)?
I removed my screenprotector also. It annoyed me, and the device has Gorilla glass, so what can happen??
No issues here. In fact, its been an incredibly stable & sturdy phone for me.
Ive dropped it more times than I care to admit to & it has very little to show for it.
The screen has only one tiny scratch, no idea how it happened considering I have been at it with a chisel, screwdriver, keys, drill & craft knife since to see if they do any damage. That screen is near indestructible.
I love how well built it feels. I pulled off the charger cover a few months after buying it (which was as soon as it was available in the uk)
Software wise, Ive not had many problems either. Used to have the odd random restart here & there, but that was fixed when mango appeared.
So yeah, still a happy chappy
Sincerely? Like s**t.
It's the worst phone I have ever had. WP7 is great, no complains here. But considering how tight the OEM specs for WP7 is, LG screwed in everything they could.
The screen is just average at best;
The camera is probably the worst in 1st gen Windows Phone;
The physical buttons are a good idea, but they are too big and the plastic is too cheap. Specially the Windows button;
The battery-life is short, really short. Before and after Mango;
And the random resets, at least once a day, sometimes in the middle of a conversation.
My next phone will be another Windows Phone, but I will never buy anything from LG again, not only phones...

I don't agree with all your complaints, even though I will also not go to LG again due to my own problems. Anyway, before all the hardware faults I had, my main complaints were:
1) VERY, VERY bad auto white balance in the camera. When the flash was on, 70% of the times I got completely blueish images.
2) I like the idea of actual physical buttons... but not this noisy! When in bed these buttons can actually wake my girlfriend (yes, she is a light sleeper).
I have no problems at all; only the battery is draining too fast even with all battery saving options turned on and also in airplane mode But the hardware buttons are great! It´s great that you never can hit them accidentally And I love the aluminium backcover, it looks so good! The display is also good, but in daylight its sometime hard to read... Now I´m only missing a custom rom and some apps or games like Tap Tap Revenge
Apparently battery life is a common problem among optimus 7 users. I haven't had any problem with mine (I've had mine for 6 months) except for a terrible battery life while HDSPA connection is on.
mine is rebooting like crazy now. I'll bring it today to my dealer, for repair. but I think LG will screw me, because mine is vodafone-rebranded, and originally it was OPN. Although the issue has nothing to do with the flash, and they certainly know that, because it seems that sooner or later, al Optimus 7 will start rebooting and fail the SD
My Optimus 7 started rebooting randomly, and also the battery wasn't lasting as long.
Buying a new (real LG) replacement battery seems to have cured both problems
Time to say something positive about the E900
It is the best mobile in terms of reception that I ever had. 2G, 2.5G, 3G (HSDPA) are stable and fast (T-Mobile in Germany). Compared to my former devices (HTC Legend and Samsung Galaxy S) this is excellent.
The Wifi reception is even better than my laptop's Wifi (Dell Latitude E5410) and definetly best among my three mobile phones.
Wifi tethering works absolutely flawless, no need for cables anymore.
I received updates always with one of the first waves (besides tethering which arrived first on Vodafone branded devices). For the old HTC Legend as well as the Samsung Galaxy S there are no more firmware updates expected. But LG and Microsoft still deliver updates for the first generation LG E900. That's what I call a good service.
Sure, there are some points the E900 is not rocking. The display is very bright at night (you can light up a whole cinema ) and doesn't have the colors of the AMOLED displays but we knew that before buying it. But the TFT doesn't have the gaps between the pixels like AMOLED displays.
And the camera is no DSLR. With good light conditions it is ok for snapshots. But for real photos I would never use the optics of a mobile phone. And I don't want LG to integrate a fullsize DSLR chip and lenses. That won't fit in my pocket
Ah, yeah, the random reboots. Had that issue on my device as well. But it occurs less often than my Samsung Galaxy S is hanging completely.
Summarizing I am happy with the E900 and I will continue to use it as long as LG and Microsoft provide support for it. It was a great deal to buy it a year ago for just 190 EUR.

Marshmallow causing screen artifacts?(the screen flickers on g900f) (!)

The screen started to behave in a weird way after installing CM13, it just flickers at low brightness, I thought it was a cm related issue so i flashed a stock marshmallow rom, but it didn't help=( could it be the marshmallow thing? or is the display dying? I'm also thinking it might be a battery issue... Can't check it right now.
I'll flash a lollipop rom to see if marshmallow is the culprit here.
Thread closed. It's pixel burn. Turns out amoled does not live too long. Very disappointed, my next choice is certainly not gonna be amoled
I think that I am going to heavily disappointing you.
Just received my new (used phone purchase) an S5 G900F, this worked all ready for two years in Switzerland, and today, technically this is in fantastic condition.
The first owner it seems that he did had good training at using and coexist with portable electronic devices.
Many others, them using their S5 as this to be a hammer, or exposing it to the elements (under the hot sun), or having it this dancing alone in a car compartment at any road bump, them they do looking for trouble.
Additionally any one sacrificed IP67, so him to use cheap cases and cover from eBay, he is also looking for trouble.
Before you even thought to defend your self by using text, just post four pictures of your phone exterior condition, so other to judge your skills at coexisting with portable devices.

Not heard of this. I am also sure this is news to the millions of amoled owners. Any published study or online ref that amoled not lasting vs other screen types? Are there thousands of other amoled owners who have started threads here or in other forums with similar conclusions? This would surely be a well known issue if that were the case.
I did not start the thread to start a holy war between amoled lovers and haters, I myself have only used amoled smartphones my whole life. Later this day I'll post some photos so you can see in which condition my phone currently is. Speaking honestly I must admit that I have let it fall carelessly around 10 times for the period of 1.5 years, but the height from which the phone fell was always too little, it fell from my bed on to the floor about a few inches... Although it was once exposed to tap water by my careless reading of Samsungs manual, cuz I thought it was waterproof when in fact the only water that it can take was lil drops of rain.. I'm fully satisfied with the phone, it has served me greatly. But I am still disappointed
I am Blogger working for four years by following the sector of test and measurement equipment for electrical parameters.
In this planet most first implementations of OLED display over a multimeter, this caused even to me mixed feelings after performing some benchmarks / product review testing.
I was forced to seek even an opinion from a CEO him working in this industry.
Burn in of OLED's is a known problem
I had 3 used Galaxy S5 in 3 months, all of them were facing the same problem : Flickering screen on low brightness ( not caused by me I bought them like that )
I can tell that the device itself is so fragile and you must not ever drop it or you'll pay for your careless.

i bought mine used 8 months ago, phone is over 2 years old, i dropped it hard multiple times, i do have a cheapo plastic bumper case for it, no problems, yet. fragile, idk.
my daughter bought it new 1 year ago, she got the flickering, got a new screen under warranty, luck of the draw
I have a S5 with flickering Brightness in Low Brightness, Too.
I dont use in High Luminosity conditions like Sun, Outdoor, Etc
And is normal to me.
Same problem here. Often green flickering too. And have to press power button many times to wake phone from standby.
Internet is full of this problem, even YouTube is full of that.
I will never buy a Samsung smartphone again.
