Not sure how it happened as it was working fine but all the sudden my LCD/screen is malfunctioning. There's a big burn spot in the middle of it and I can't make out anything. The phone still works. I upgraded to the AT&T Tilt yesterday. Not sure if I'm going to keep it or not, as it takes a micro SD. Anyways - I had this program to backup my cemail and pim files when I had to have my 8125 replaced a few months ago. Well, now I need to be able to pull them off the phone or at least run the backup to get them to their current state only I can't see the screen enough to navigate around. I saw a program, pocket controller that will let me control the phone on my desktop but I need help installing it or a similar program. I can't see my screen at all so I'm doing it blindly here.
Is there anything I can do here? Should I keep the Tilt or Return it and send the 8125 in to get the screen replaced?
I was in the same situation. I bought a new LCD from Ebay for ~$60 and replaced it myself. I got one from the seller lcd4pda (item# 280163983616) and it came with the necessary tools to replace it. It was not very easy to replace the LCD and I broke several plastic hooks along the way while opening the phone, but in the end I have my phone working. Oh, I am not affiliated by the seller in anyway, I was just happy about my purchase and wanted to let you know about that.
I don't know about controlling your phone from your PC, but you can copy any file from your phone while your phone is connected to the computer. There should be a link to your phone in "My computer" while it is connected where you can access the files on your computer.

Hi,
Broke my screen a couple of days ago. I have a lot of information and programs installed on my universal and dont want to install everything again.
I have therefore bought a used universal and I wonder If I will be able to replace the screen + frame without hardresetting the unit. I have downloaded the service manual but I couldnt find any info regarding that. If any one have any useful tips on replacing screen + frame plaese let me know. Do I have to take the phone apart or is it possible to replace screen and frame only by loosing the screen by the hinge?
Is this a difficult task, (looks easy in the manual)?
Thanks in advance,
Miki
Just need the right tools. Not too difficult and you need an antistatic arm band. Goodluck! How bout selling me your extra mainboard?
first post here but i just found the site.
I broke the screen on my o2xda exec and took it too my local Carphone Warehouse. I am not one of their customers anymore but they looked the repiar up on their system and it showed that the repair cost was going to be £40. I authorised repair and got a written copy of the cost and confirmed the cost about 10 times as i didnt belive him. The phone went off to HTC's repair centre and came back three weeks later with a new screen and a complete upgraded rom. I paid £40 job done.
Might be worth a try if you have one near you.
No prob.
All parts will be for sale as soon as Im ready.
Is it possible to switch screen with frame without hardreseting?
And is it possible to switch screen without taking the phone apart?

There is a way to just open up the just screen part of the clamshell but you risk breaking your flex cable but it can be done if you are really careful. I dont recommend doing it this way though.
I suggest you follow the instructions as per manual by opening up the keyboard part first and then clamshell then replacing the screen. It's not too difficult. Don't forget the anti-static thing so you don't mess up the mainboard.
Also, you don't have to hardreset to replace your screen..dont forget the anti-static thing!
Please reserve the mainboard for me...Thanks!
I wouldnt mind the flex cable!
Its easiest to leave this in the plastic housing, thus most of the actual shell (top lid, hinge, bottom keyboard housing part etc.
Let me know if you have this spare as my touchscreen doesnt work now and im desperate!
I'd be interested in the camera flash (flashlight)
IF/when you're ready to part out the remainder of your device, I'm in desperate need of a replacement camera flash (flashlight).
-Kevin.
Please let us know how your replacement went. Still would like to purchase that MB from you.

When I got my 8525 about a year ago I immediately put schaps on it. About 6 months ago I gave starbase 64 a shot and I dont know if it was coincidence (probably was) or what, but ever since then my screen gets a little off. What I mean by that is, when I first calibrate it it's dead on. After about 2 minutes it gets off. Like I touch the screen and it's at least a good 1/4" off.
Is it my digitizer going out or is it the rom's going kiddy whompus with my device?
Mate, mine did the same thing. The digitizer is going.
Download remote screen alignment (quick search will get the app), it installs on the PC so that you can use the PC to record the screen alignment settings and then, if you do a hard reset or flash a new rom and can't get past the alignment the PC will get you to the today screen. Hardware keys will allow most functions, though its a *****, but either replace the LCD (digitizer attached) or put the cash towards a new Device. Leys face it, the Hermes is no longer supported and a lot of the chefs are leavin for new devices. Soon it will only be us diehards, too poor to upgrade or too stubborn, left on the forums...
Cheers...

BAH! I had a feeling that was the case. If the snow would fall I'd be making a few hundred a night plowing and I could get a new one.... Maybe I'll give my plan to someone and throw my blackberry in on the deal and get a new htc with a plan.
Well, if you are pretty handy with a screwdriver the digitizers arent too hard to replace and run pretty cheap on eBay. I just did a new LCD and Digitizer on my 8525 about 2 weeks ago and I think it ran me a whole $25 shipping and all. Just an idea if you are kinda attached to that one.

Is this what you mean? Or is this it?
I found that app after a few frantic searches (I wasn't able to align after my first flash lol) and it's brilliant. However, I found a better way was just to place a file named welcome.not (create a new text document and rename it welcome.not) in the root dir of the microsd. That bypasses the whole welcome thing when you reflash.
Definately the LCD and digitizer combo. Its a MAJOR pain in the acher to try and attach the digitiser to the LCD, you have to first remove the old one. Mongrel job. Easier to just replace the LCD and digitiser as one unit.
Ok thanks
I broke my LG G2 this morning. I had lost my cover and was going to get a new one but this happened. It is out of warranty and I ordered it on Amazon.de in 2013. The touchscreen won't work.
1. How do I find the serial number without the box and without using the phone? I don't know where the serial number is (I threw away the box and it's not on the back).
2. How do I back up what is on it without giving permission in the phone? I don't want to lose what's on the phone but I don't want to give the phone while private stuff is on it.
I'm trying to connect using LG PC Suite but it won't conne1ct, says "mobile device not found". I heard the connecting sound on my computer when I plugged it in. I think I need to give permission in the phone but I can't do that since the touchscreen isn't working now.

Get yourself an otg cable and a usb mouse.
Saved my life many times before I fixed my screen.
Order the LCD frame assembly from Amazon seller 8090team (just fixed mine this week) and fix it yourself.
There are plenty of guides online and YouTube.
Take your time prepare everything you need tools etc. and go slow.
You'll be fine

I ordered an OTG cable this morning, but I am trying to choose which LCD replacement to get, since your post made me decide to fix it myself.
I am from Ireland by the way and I usually use Amazon.co.uk. Which product are you talking about? I didn't find any from that seller for the D802 which is my model. I'm trying to find one with good reviews and none that say their touch screen doesn't work properly or things like that.
Have heard good things about these guys
http://www.etradesupply.com/lg/android-models/lg-g2-d802.html
Alright, long story short... I've been a user of a D-802 for the last 4 years. I was unlucky enough for the phone to be dropped from 2nd floor at work (don't ask how), the panel housing the screen is bent in right upper corner, which ultimately means this; I've fixed the screen two times, for it to be broken in less than half a month. Even more so, I ordered a new screen a week ago and it broke because of the bent frame 10 minutes after fitting the screen, as in, simply putting on the rear plastic cover, which broke the screen and the flex cable. Took it over to a repair store, they told me the phone has a broken cable on the screen and a new screen costs 90 EUR (not really worth considering how old the phone is.) and the motherboard was damp, too.
Now what I've got is a glorified brick. It turns on, the screen is black/non responsive to touch and it's stuck in file transfer or charging mode. Not really a problem, as I was able to retrieve all the photos from the phone through USB connection, however, what I'm really after are the phone contacts in there. We're talking about 3+ year old contacts that have a monumental value to me and I'd see gladly see them backed up.
Now, the reason I hadn't backed the phone is because it's rooted, obviously.
Out of ideas so far, will be eternally grateful to anyone with suggestions.

I think the easiest way is the same way you rescued your photos from internal storage. Search the system partition for database files like contacts.db or other *.db-files. One should contain your contacts.
Good luck! :good:
Thanks, but no luck on that behalf. Already tried that, also didn't find much luck with adb or other software, as it all requests USB debugging to be turned on.
I know there are a lot of these threads but my intention is a bit different. This phone I gave to my daughter a few months ago and she cracked the entire screen (no touches register whatsoever). I want to take the phone and repurpose it to simply act as a webcam and point at my 3d printer. The phone is rooted and nothing on the phone needs to be saved. I bought an OTG cable without really reading into it enough to see the default one won't work.
So here's what I want to do. Somehow get some kind of vnc server/anything installed so that I can control it. The wifi currently connects so I'm good in that regards. The one damn hurdle that has stopped me is that the phone does not currently have debugging enabled so I cannot install apks over adb.
Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. The value of this phone is far outweighed by the price of a new screen so an actual repair is not in the cards.
