aim 2.0 - Mogul, XV6800 General

for some reason with a 6800 and multiple roms dcd clean 2.09 and 2.16 i can im anyone on a computer but if i im a mobile client that uses sms i cannot see their reply just the time stamp this is with the modified and original aim 2.0 not sure if it applies to data clients from cells because had issue with someone on a blackberry pearl as well

I had the same issue when I used AIM 2.0... I doubt there's a fix for it. You should give OctroTalk a try. For a free IM program it's pretty damn good. Only IM program I've had that actually auto-reconnects after a phone call.

Just read a review of Palringo over on the general forums. So far it's worked fantastically on my mogul. Great IM client IMO.

how do i get the free aol instant messanger app Qtek 9100

There is a free instant messenger app that comes with all WM5 phones. SDA, etc. My Qtek 9100 only has the MSN messanger app. I am looking for a free aol im app. Also I use Mac.....so how do i get it to my phone. It seems you can only do it from a PC. There has to be a way around this. Does anyone know a download place for the aol im for WM5? Has anyone figured this one out....I know you can buy one, which is lame.....when it is free on most WM5 phones. Please someone out there......give the answers.....lol.
u can do this by using agile messenger
i dont have my wizard already, but i found in the internet this free messenger:
http://www.movsoftware.com/products/imov/imov.htm
they say it is for WM 5.0
Agile says the WM 5.0 comes soon. (But i guess the 2002 Beta works too)
this agile messenger u can try it, i use it in my pda2k wm2003
Ahem...hello Alex. The T-Mobile messenger app is called OZ. It's actually pretty cool, but it only integrates AIM, ICQ, and Yahoo. Here is the Cab file.
Hey Yung. Thanx for answering his question and not giving him a whole bunch of alternitives. I was looking for this to, and every time I asked soemone would post; "use this, use that, I recommend this..." You get the idea. Anyways, thanks man.
Later; Lew
I tried out the OZ program and it seemed to work just fine. What I don't like is that it appears to use SMS for your IM's instead of your data connection. I talked with two people at TMO Customer service, but they just kept trying to tell me about regular texting. But on the TMO site, it looks like all instant message programs that come on their phones use SMS.
That is probably true since th eOX program dosent seam to work on my cingular 8125. It installs and all but it never can connect.
Later; Lew
OZ does appear to use text messaging, since T-Mobile just charged me for 45 text messages after I installed and started using it.
The T-Mobile extended ROM also included the T-Mobile Comm Manager. It has the phone on/off setting. See attached Cab...
Your list of PDA/Phones is longer than any of your posts. Cool 8)
I may try that comm manager, but I am going to wait till I will have the time to do a hard reset, just in case.

I installed the OZ messenger on my cingular 8125 and it worked fine. I also hope that it doesnt use SMS as I've been using it like mad and don't want to get charged... The GPRS/Edge icon changes to connected when I connect using OZ messenger, so i'm hopeful that it doesn't use SMS.
Wow. Are you on Cingular network? Please let me know what you find out about how it works, SMS or Direct.
Later; Lew
I installed the cab. Yet when I try to sign on, I get the sms yet it doesn't successfully work. Newbie apologies if I'm not doing something obvious.
Probably not, I tryed, not long, but I tryed to get it to work. It kept failing to connect. Meh... what can you do?
Later; Lew
So... I couldn't get it to connect. I uninstalled, but there is a ghost icon left in programs. How can I get rid of the shortcut?
It needs to be installed to the phone, not the card. ONce I reinstalled, it worked fine.
so has anyone been successful in runnin a free aol program from their MDA?? i hate the fact tmo charges 14.99 in addition to the 29.99 dataplan for unlimited text messages.

agile works fine, its not designed for wm5, but it still works. there is supposed to be a beta wm5 version coming out soon
I tried loading OZ on my Qtek 9100 with cingular and it will not connect. When I look in the registry under HKCU\OZ Communications\Configuration\1
Data: Network
Value: http://wirelessvillage.t-mobile.com
It appears to point to T-Mobile which is not my carrier and may be why I can't connect.
Has anyone been able to get OZ IM to work with Cingular? If so, what is this registrry value in your registry?
Thanks.

Yes of course. WiFi or GPRS connections will enable you to use any instant messaging program that doesn't use text as a way to "IM."

I don't know of any good IRC client as I do not use any but this one has very good reviews on every site I see it on (And magazine reviews) http://www.pocketgear.com/software_detail.asp?id=5713
but will i get double charged as this concerned customer wrote:

If you use Agile Messener, or the new Windows Live Mobile, you WILL NOT be charged using text messages. the AOL program (and the protocol, in my opinion) is retarded in it's method of message delivery. The two programs I have mentioned above, send IMs using your data tariff ONLY, unless you are connected to a WiFi access point, in which case, IMs will be sent over that network, rather than the mobile one.
Hope this has re-assured you...

AIM for WM5 request

Hey all, Im no programmer myself. (Sorry couldn't find a better place to post this) I'm looking for a AIM program that works with WM5. I have and use both Agile messenger, and AIM 2.0. Agile works great, although I have connectivity issues with AIM at times, however it lacks the things that make AIM, AIM. With no support for buddy info, buddy status, away message, or profiles, Agile does not complete the AIM experience for me and many other I've talked to that use it. AIM 2.0 has been adapted to display right on WM5 anyway, other than ladnscape mode... This version has buddy info, buddy status, away message, block lists and more, however there is no noticifation of a new message, therefore if you don't hear the new message sound you have no idea you have received a new IM. This doesn't work for obvious reasons.
I'm looking for the full Sha-bang! Does anyone know of anything like this? Or has anyone created such a beast for personal use? I know there are AIM developers out there, because AOL has a dev program. I would deffinately be willing to pay for such a program and would others I know. Thoughts?
I am also looking for this exact samet thing.
If anyone wants to tackle this there are some WM5 and java API's available from AOL. It talks about restrictions with cell phone carriers, but I don't think those apply for WM5 development.
http://developer.aim.com/
Some ideas for features.
- Today plugin that shows latest IM snippet. Clicking on it would open the AIM client.
- Auto signoff (or away status) when device goes into suspend. Auto signon (or available status) when device is woken up. This would work with AIM forwarding. The sms message received from AIM forwarding when the device is suspended should be read into the AIM client when coming out of suspend mode thereby seemlessly continuing a conversation.
I would much rather a very stripped down AIM. I have no need for today screen plugins. Just simply send and recieve messages.
I am currently using IMov messenger, and connecting to AIM through the jabber gateway. I actually think this is a better way to do this, since in my area, everytime you switch cell towers, you get a new IP. The Jabber protocol allows for this type of IP hopping without loosing your IM connection, AIM does not.
On top of the IP hopping, if you loose connection, jabber will queue up messages being sent to you, untill you reconnect.
Lastly, the Jabber protocol is encrypted.
PLEASE! and freeware please =)
if someone can do this, that wouldbe great. this aim 2.0 is okay aside from the fact that you dont know when you get new messages =/ . ive been waiting for a good client on wm5 for sometime now. props to whoever can do it =D

Oz Cab

Does anyone have the oz cab that is compatible with WM6? I deleted mine off, but have decided that IM+ and mundu take up too much resources for the little I use them. I have unlimited text messaging with my family plan, so I would like to go ahead and reload oz, but don't want to have to do a hard reset in order to do so.
Any help would be much appreciated. I searched, but couldn't find it.
Thanks.

Thank you. Unfortunately, now I can't get the darn thing to work. It keeps saying communication error and to check my settings.

I had the same problem, what you need to do is uninstall it, and install it to your device. If you had it installed to your storage it will continue to give the error. If you install to device it will work just fine. Hope that helps!
If you want it to work you're goin to have to hard reset and let the T-Mo customizations run. Remember Oz IM runs off you're SMS and not a dedicated internet app, so there will be some settings that would have to be tweaked in order to sync it. I don't know if anyone has made it work or even tried to yet, but there are other options out there. There's IM+ and Agile but you'll have to purchase them after trial period, and there's also imov and palringo which are both free, but have their share of problems. All run on internet so it's much better than sms based.
I personally use a combo of palringo and imov. Palringo is better looking and more feature rich than imov but disconnects frequently even when there's service. Also, as of right now, there's a problem with switching between different chats. It doesn't save your conversion once you exit out and there's no workaround at the moment. Imov basically has no features, is very basic in looks, and has ads that take up about one-third of your screen, but it is much more stable. You can leave it running overnight.
Hope this helps
You don't have to do a hard reset and let the Tmo extras run, I am running my wing debranded with the cab re-installed to my device, and it works for me with no problems. Although you can use the other programs papito mentions if you have a data plan. If you just have a text msg plan use the oz cab.
how do i choose to install on the device? it doesnt give me an option. i use 8525 btw
or are you guys talking about miucro sd card cuz i dont have one

thx alot ive been lookin everywhere for this.
Whats Is OZ Pocket PC? Just got my wing and I'm looking to trick it out.
Thanks
Okay, I think I have this OZ communicator figured out somewhat. It seems that there is a registry key that makes a connection to a site that (I would assume) handles the IM/SMS exchange for the OZ IM Client (HKCU\Software\OZ Communications\Configuration\1\Network) which points at http://aol.cwmim.com:1171 I would think that it is the conversion here that creates the text message charge. I would think that t-mobile would have a similar site to put in here that handles conversion for their network. Anyone have a t-mobile phone with OZ, and can pass that out to us?

I have a t-mobile wing with a custom rom on it. I wanted to install Oz because i wanted to have the instant messengers. I do have unlimited text and the basic data plan. When I installed the program, it gave me a communication error and to check the settings but it also sent me a text message...which I didnt understand. How can I get the program to work? I have it installed on the device memory already.

VOIP/SIP for HD2

Anyone get VOIP apps to work on their HD2? I have been researching and downloaded audioroute 1.20 and WM6VOIP, but what worries me is those files are rather old. I am considering flashing Laurentis' 4.0 (includes VOIP drivers), but I am not keen on the icons, so I'd like to test with Kumar's 1.6. I wonder if I can use Kumar with the old cabs I found to start this process. My goal is to use my magicjack SIP account with my phone, which would really be nice in other countries with wifi connections. Any advice? I will post feedback as I go through my testing on this, but a confirmed setup would help. Thanks.
edit:
I just found this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=574521. Looks very promising. Will post results.
i mange to do setup after following the link. i can receive incoming calls over voip but unable to make outgoing call. are u able to make outgoing call?
I'm using fring. It works but it is as ugly as hell! Please let us know if you could make outgoing calls work.
At work, but found this link that seems real promising:

i tried your link same here also i can receive incoming call but outgoing call is not working.
I installed this stuff on NRG 11 Apr 23554, and it broke my connections (data, wifi), and I couldn't uninstall it, so I'm planning my next move. I have tried Laurentis, didn't work (don't like menu icons anyway). Tried some things with Kumar 1.6, so far no good.
To be clear, I am trying to use my magicjack SIP account on my HD2.
So far the incompatibilities I have been running into is with having to disable Sense to see the damn internet calling tab, and missing/incompatible voip drivers (I've found like 3 different ones through searching). It's gonna be a crapshoot of combinations, but hopefully I'll figure it out soon, while keeping Sense active! I may break down and try one of these softphone apps, because right now I'm just trying get the phone dialer to work.
i was able to see internet tab in sense ui with out any hick. i have tried portsip as well that is also not working.
PortSip works
PortSip definetely works on stock ROM. At least5 with "Betamax" family like voipraider.com
http://www.portsip.com/downloads.htm
I have native VoIP cab which worked for me on HTC HD. Did not test it yet on HD2.
works great
