Newbie Question.
In theory is it possible for WM to take advantage of Iphone web apps?
Using Opera mobile to was able to get iphone.facebook to work while it was kinda buggy but still better then the mobile verison of facebook.

Im trying to decide between the Nexus One (assuming the 3G issues get worked out) and the HD2 once it is released on T-Mobile this spring (hopefully sooner rather than later).
I used Windows Mobile (Dash running cooked rom from here, thanks xda) before switching to android, and the HD2 is the first handset to make me think about going back. I thought that this would be the best place for suggestions about the HD2.
HD2 Pros
I can get the HD2 for about half the price of the Nexus One
The HD2 has the larger screen
Ability to run applications from the memory card
Nexus One Pros
Nexus One has more RAM 512 v 488, not huge difference
Google Maps Navigation ( I can use telenav for free but Google Navigation is more accurate in my usage)
Android has better Gmail and Google Calendar integration, but I'm considering nuevasync for the ability to sync to multiple Gmail calendars ( I currently use 5 Google Calendars)
Better Web Browser, but I have not used the new opera mobile that is on the HD2
Applications,
Evernote
Facebook
Google Voice (only using voicemail for transcriptions)
KeyRing (scans membership/ discount cards so you can use your phone to scan the bar code at checkout instead of carrying around all of those cards)
Mobisle Notes (quick note taking)
Pandora
PdaNet (tethering)
Thanks in advance
I know im not crazy, because there's an exact thread with an exact title somewhere in the first couple of pages.
re:lude,
And there is next to nothing in that thread, if you had read either that or my posting you would know that.

Again, maybe I'm stupid, but do you have a certain question you wanted to ask? Are you unclear about something? WHAT??? I didn't see a single question and you've pretty much outlined the differences between the two. No offense, but your giant list of Nexus pros (give or take) can be apply to the HD2, so what it boils down to is which OS you're more comfortable of. Android is idiot-proof and WM offers customization and a wider array of functionality.
I'd get the HD2, I don't use g-mail or google account stuff but the browser is great, no flash integration just yet but IE on it already does and soon opera will too. It has Google Maps and Facebook integration preinstalled, as well as twitter and YouTube. It has Office Mobile and Outlook so Mobile Note apps enough, pandora is available for windows mobile but Media player plays most of my favorite internet radio stations, it has a build in WiFi Access point, bluetooth, usb modem.. so tether away..
I have a gmail account happily set up as the outlook account on the HD2. Perfect sync for me, so that plus of the Nexus doesn't carry too much weight for me.
Your Nexus benefits will be the one stop shop App Marketplace, Google Nav and that's about it. You effectively swap size for AMOLED if you go from HD2 to Nexus, so I'd say the screens are roughly equal.
IS tethering the same as the HD2s Wifi router....if so you can scrap that one off your list too.
HD2's Opera browser is fine. Opera 10 is even better and as soon as it has multitouch it'll be near perfect.
From what I've seen on the youtube, the Nexus One seems to get my heart with faster web browsing, and Nexus is cheaper than HD2 even with an AMOLED LCD screen(HD2 price droped almost 100USD within 3 weeks, costed me 775USD,now it's 682), after I get my hd2 repaired from HTC CARE, I would consider sell it for a Nexus.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AmKyti2XEgY
^ sooo.... if the website loads let's say three seconds faster than on hd2 does it make a huge difference for You? I would rather focus on smooth hd2 versus jerky scrolling on nexus. meh... I'll stay with bigger screen and multitouch...
Just put nexus customer complaints into google, , , , result? Buy a HD2
Well as you can see the both mobile browsers have same speed so do not argue about that(im sure cuz my brother got nexus one i test on it)
Today the main video app for smartphone is Youtube, which exist on Windows Mobile, Android, Symbian...
Recently Dailymotion made an app but only for iPhone OS, what a shame.
I know we can afford the mobile version of the site with almost every recent phones, but it's really not handy, and there is a huge difference between the contents of the full site and the mobile site.
About Megavideo, there is not even mobile site (is there ?).
The part solution is using the browser Skyfire, but, one more time it's not handy (have to zoom on the video frame and it's lagging).
So my question is...
Is it possible to make rights Dailymotion and Megavideo apps, I mean looking like Youtube app.
Thank you for your answers.
Any news on that?^^ I'm very interested, too!
windows mobile apps not booming and growing as fast as apple's app store or android market place..anyone else slightly disappointed? or is this likely to change with the release of windows 7 a completely revamped mobile platform ready to take on the likes of apple and android.

I was, but I've come to the conclusion that the HD2 is a pretty specialist piece of kit and if you want a particular app for it you're going to have to dig. That said, you can and will usually find it (here). I joined xda before getting my HD2 and this site had a lot of influence on my decision to get it. The best apps I've downloaded lately are cht/editor/scheduler 2.0 (quite(ly) brilliant) and DNetworkTools. I really thought the HD7 was the death knell of the HD2, but that deaths been greatly exaggerated.
yes, windows has loads and loads of apps that are really useful (you just need to dig, dig deeper and search)..they are all stand alone apps...unlike that in android and ios, where (al)most of the apps are simple shortcut icons to webpages and need constant data/wifi......most of these apps are useless and servo no purpose apart from a few hrs of fun............windows and hd2 combo is excellent, for a little change, you can log into android too .
coming to new apps, well they will come out...because w7 is still not available everywhere
The HD2 can run WM or Android. I keep coming back to WM since Android doesn't have the apps I want to use.
(Other people's experiences may differ from mine.)
still waiting for the official 3.14 stock rom and i think il wait for the final version of CHT 2 as i experienced a few bugs with the beta..rather stick to winmo as the handset is not a native android device.how stable is android on the hd2?
here is one of the latest apps which i thought was pretty good

It's not dead. It's in a bit of stasis. People are still developing for it. XDA developers in particular are doing a great job.
Some people still like WM. It works for me just fine. Opera is the killer app for me on the HD2.
To be honest, I am not surprised. Opera 9.7 is still the best web browser for me. I wish they would continue to support it and integrate a new flash compatibility pack/cab.
The money though is with Android and Apple hence why the non support. I wish though they could provide a source code for us developers to continue to support it with modifications.
Hi !
As from the title I would know if anyone could interested to start a petition to bring opera mobile 11 to windows mobile. I think that the choice of opera of excluding windows mobile is quite insane. They have supported every single mobile platform ( even symbian 2nd which is extra old ) and not windows mobile while still a lot of users continue to have devices with windows mobile.
What do you think ?
that can be interesting.
useless, effortless, timevasting... but as Don Quichotte, this can be, well... interesting. But, as WM 6.x is dead, it will be certainly a fight against windmills !
I've been using both Opera 10 as well as Opera Mini on my Topaz. Opera Mini seems to be faster than 10. So should we pester Opera for Opera 11 for our devices?
Just my 2cents
Thanks

But in my understanding the mobile version delivers the whole web page to the device, which sounds like it should have some advantages? I don't hold out much hope for this but I'm behind it all the same, I'd definitely pay for a good browser with pinch to zoom and full flash.
to the OP: have you seen the arora browser port which is going on in the HD2 Apps forum? I'm hoping this will let us forget Opera!
hii
I m using Opera 11 and it is working f9 in my phone.
