Alarm Clock custom music ? - Wing, P4350 General

I put a wav music file into the windows folder and it would come up in the alarm scroll down, however it will not play. I guess there is a time limit to alarm sounds ?
Any way to get any long sound to be used as your alarm? like at least 30 seconds worth?

I do not know your answer to the question, but I do have a suggestion.
While you're waiting for the answer, why dont you try cropping the song down in some editing software on the PC to just the part you want; thus reducing it in size. Copy that to the windows folder, then give it another shot.

yah i've cropped down to about 30 seconds... but it doesnt work.
I tried another file which was about 2 seconds and it worked, so is there any way you can get a longer music wav to play as an alarm clock ?

Make the .wav file like 29 seconds. It should work.

Rise and Shine

I'm having difficulty getting up in the morning! Does anyone know of a good alarm tool for the xda. The one that comes with it never seems to work/wake me up. The functionality is rubbish .
I have no problems whatsoever...
Be sure you checked the checkbox next to the desired alarm, and you selected the appropriate days the alarm will sound
-edit- Oh, and try a decent WAV file, I prefer the "Good Morning Charlie!" from Charlies Angels
hey,
i agree; the alarm function of the xda seems to be fine. i use the wav file from finding nemo where all those crazy seagulls keep on saying "mine! mine! mine!" that's when i want to be really awakened; but when i prefer to use an alarm but gently have it wake me up i use a wav file for a song with a soft opening.
you can always download a 3rd party alarm app such as stoptime; which comes with a timer, mirror, calendar and stopwatch program along with the alarm clock.

I tried this last night. However, the alarm only comes on for me when you switch the screen on. i.e if i set the alarm at 1.00pm. It wont go off. However, as soon as I switch it on the aralarm sounds. Am I doing something wrong?
Also I only have a limited selection of alarams. How do you add other wav files in?
Thanks
You may need the WakeUp Tweak program from:
http://www.burroak.on.ca/wm2k3tweaks.html
Thanks for that . I'll try it out, but maybe not on the weekend!
hey jupiter,
you can easily add wav files by simply while using activesync; just copy wav files and paste them into the windows folder of the xda. the wav files should then appear when you want to choose a sound for an alarm. however; do note that there are SOME wav files which don't seem to work. i did read in this forum that this has to do with the wav file format...whatever that is as i'm not familiar with it. but it does happen; some wav files don't work. sadly i can't find the forum thread where this was discussed.
cheers

That works. Brilliant. Thanks
Some Wavs do not work because they are not in PCM WAV Format, more likely they are MPEG layer-3 WAV format.
Converting them is easy - using the windows sound recorder utility (sndrec32.exe), open the wav,
Click File->Properties
Click "Convert Now"
On the next screen, ensure the format drop-down is PCM, then change the attributes to whatever you want.
Personally I use 11.025 khz, 8 Bit, Mono

Wav`s have horrible hiss

Ok So i made some msg and ring tones.. put them where they should go.. all hunky dory..
Got a msg earlier... and it plays my msg tone.. but there`s a nasty his for about 3 seconds afterwards...
I checked the wavs in Audacity.. and they are the correct length ( when I made them ) but playing the same wav in media player on my o2 Mini s they are about 3-4 seconds longer.. and that 3-4 seconds is the hiss.... any ideas whats going on there??
Try a different ripper
I'm not familure with Audacity but my early experience with audio software found that some programs would add 2-3 seconds of dead air at the beginning and end of the file. See if Audacity has any "intro/ending" settings. If not try another program.
try using wavepad. i don't remember where i found it. why not make mp3's? space is limited on the wizard.

can`t use mp3`s as ringtones/sms tones
Actually
MP3's can be ringtones but not notifications.
fixed!
used Cool Edit Pro and it didn`t add any hiss...
weird!

Sometimes it helps if you use the manual!

Ok ok, put in /windows/Rings folder on your device.
it seems that you can only use .wav file format, is there any workaround to use .mp3, .mp4 or .wma files? wav audio format is so big it will be a complete waste of memory, btw. for alarms sound you must copy wav to \windows folder
Did you know that actual size of predefined .wav files in windows folder is almost 2MB and you can't delete it?

you can use mp3 and mp3 has smaller Filesize than wav. just use a good converter and use low bitrate. you can also cut mp3 files as you might do not want the whole 5th symphony for a ringing tone.
yeah- i got the ring tone to be changed to my favourite Hatebreed song but for the life of me cannot get it to change the alarm ring tone to something other than those included with the phone..... i used to have an edited mp3 as alarm tone for my sony-ericcson..... i am assuming this phone is better and can do that.......
any ideas to change the alarm tone?
thanks

Yes for ringtone but NOT for alarms and sms, if someone know how to do it please xplain ...
G'Day Guys,
You need to use .WAV files bummer I know as they are generally larger but it is the only way to use them.
Convert your MP3 files to .wav with a program such as Ease Audio Converter:
http://www.soft32.com/download_15987.html
Once converted, connect your phone to the USB Sync Cable and let is sync.
Once synced go to >my computer>mobile device>my windows mobile-based device>windows and place your .wav file in the windows folder.
It should convert the file for mobile windows format.
Then in your phone go >start>settings>sounds&notifications>notifications>events and select event, then associated sound.
or for alarm
>start>settings>system>clock & alarms>bell symbol and select sound.
I found that the sound file for the alarm cant be too long, at 17 sec it wouldnt work at 10sec it would................ Again I used "ease Audio converter" to clip the length of the wav file.
Hope this helps, spent many hours delving around on the net finding the answers.

This is nothing to do with the Trinity as such- it is, and has been, universal with all Pocket PC/ Windows Mobile devices.
As the previous posters have said:
Ringtones can be WAV, MID, WMA or MP3 and need to be in the Windows/Rings folder. Later devices have other permissible locations, but Rings is univerfsal.
Other notifications must be WAV files, and preferably need to be 25KB or less. These need to be in the Windows folder, and are selected via the Settings/Sounds and Notifications control panel.
You can use MP3's as alarm, SMS and messaging tones, but you need add-on programs- SpB Time /Chronos etc for alarms, Ringo Mobile for SMS & Contacts etc.

midi file for alarm how?

midi in alarm a clock.mid file only 5 KB(plays 1minutes) becomes 2.5MB(plays 1minutes) wav file for alarm which when placed in /windows folder occupies a significant amout of space ,is there some registry entry for
1.)mid could be used for clock alarm or
2.)may be pick clock tune from card
else whatever you could suggest.
Dont double post.
Anyway, you don't really need a song to ring you up? a repeating tune for 5 seconds will probably do the job. Anyway, AFAIK, there isn't ways of doing it, but you can get 3rd party alarm software which support mp3 formats that can be located anywhere.
you can also dec the space the wav takes up by
making it mono
choosing sample rate of 3Khz and 8bit
it's not like the externak speakers on these pda's do hifi surround in dvd audio quality
there is a nokia clockalarm1.midi ring tone which plays for 1 minutes and its only 5 kb even if i make mp3 file of 2.5 mb wav file i would have to use phone alarm ,i am deaf when i am asleep thats why i needed my prophet to help me wake up like my nokia6630 used to do but i see each side has pros and cons.
and sorry for the double post it just came into my mind to globally post later ,i wish there was a delete button to remove my other post.
Of all the information (silly on the battery thing, but probably you just want to have yourself a record somewhere, I guess) you put in your signature, you didn't tell what OS you are using (i.e. WM5/6?).
If you were to be using WM6, you can have it converted to 1 minute WMA and I think the WM6 alarm takes WMA, which a 1 minute tune would take.. approx 500K. Take note, that if there were to be any plugin for midi, probably it would take as much space anyway.
ANYWAY, since you are those with problem waking up, I would seriously advising you to take up a 3rd party alarm software to solve this problem. The other reason is that, the WM alarm does not override the system volume (i.e. if you happened to set the volume down, you will get a whispering alarm).

New Manila alarm

Hey,
If this is the wrong spot for this question, im sorry, and id like to be pointed in the right direction.
I have installed Dutty's rom, since 1.7 now with 1.9 the new alarm system is great, but there is one thing i cant seem to get working. When i set an alarm sound like the rooster and i test the alarm, it only sounds once. Id like to get it repeated over and over again untill you press a button. I have looked into selecting a long .mp3 file, but i would have to put it in the windows folder and the alarm doesnt recognize .mp3 files. It only recognizes .wav files, but when you make a large .wav file it will be very big, and consuming a lot of internal memory.
Does anyone have a solution to this?
greetings.
Check out G-Alarm. The new manila is better than before but G-alarm is still superior. No limit to alarms, you can have an mp3 playlist rather than just a single sound, has Snooze you can execute a program by alarm ect. go look
