Wav`s have horrible hiss - 8125, K-JAM, P4300, MDA Vario General

Ok So i made some msg and ring tones.. put them where they should go.. all hunky dory..
Got a msg earlier... and it plays my msg tone.. but there`s a nasty his for about 3 seconds afterwards...
I checked the wavs in Audacity.. and they are the correct length ( when I made them ) but playing the same wav in media player on my o2 Mini s they are about 3-4 seconds longer.. and that 3-4 seconds is the hiss.... any ideas whats going on there??

Try a different ripper
I'm not familure with Audacity but my early experience with audio software found that some programs would add 2-3 seconds of dead air at the beginning and end of the file. See if Audacity has any "intro/ending" settings. If not try another program.

try using wavepad. i don't remember where i found it. why not make mp3's? space is limited on the wizard.

Wav file length and formats

Hi guys
Does anyone know if there is a limitation to what you can have as a ringtone?
I have done what *seems* right, it even plays on media player on the M1000 but I cannot get the wav to load in the "Add Ring Tone" section.
Does the file have to be some obscure wav format or no longer than say 20 seconds etc?
Has anyone come across this problem as well?
Cheers
Ben
it have to be good old std wav which is called PCM
not sure if there are any length issues
try
looking if it shows up in sounds and notifications
or make sure the file is places in windows or windows\rings or something like that
Ok - I have tried a standard PCM wav and it still doesnt like it! Also tried a short 1 second one and that doesnt work!
Confused? I am!!!
did you put it in windows ?
did you put it in windows/rings ?
did you try and see if you could choose it under sound and notifications insted there you can choose both phone rings and others
add ring tones are mainly used for adding wma's

Ringtone resets back to 'Windows Default' by itself!

i have put up a small midi ringtone file (originally a Nokia ringtone) onto my JasJar, same ringtone i've used on my PDA2k for a year..
problem is that after sometime, probably a couple calls, the ringtone seems to get reset back to the annoying "Windows Default" ringtone for no apparent reason, and i end going back to the sound & notification settings 2-3 times a day to set it back to my ringtone :\
i did a hard reset, skipped extended rom for trials and ran it for a day, same problem!
after searching for so long i figured this might be something i have to live with..
so i reset my device, installed all my apps and tuned them to my liking..
only to find out that with SPB Pocket Plus, the ringtone sometimes stops playing completely.
for instance, i can see it selected in the sound and notifications, but clicking play on it produces no sound!
the default ringtones on the other hand play just fine...
the only workaround is to softreset the device.
i finally removed SPB pocket plus... and the old problem is back.. Windows Default ringtone keeps getting set as my ring
any tips.. please i'm so frustrated at this point :\
did you put the file in windows\rings ?
i think on storage card it might be a problem.
tried having the ringtone both on /windows/rings and on the SD card, no difference..
Try some other file format other than your MIDI, May be MP3
Look here, maybe this can help you:

I checked the above thread, and I did indeed have a different entry under the 'saved' registry entry. CHanged it and keen to see if this solved things.
OK, I have some progress on this.
When ur phone changes (ie goes wrong), go to phone/options and try playing any of the ringtones. Most fail with something like "file is possibly corrupt". Now, the ones that fail are WMA files, and the ones that work are WAV. That's why the phone is reverting; it's failing to play WMA's and is defaulting to a working ringtone (which is a good strategy - I guess...).
This aligns with other threads on mp3 ringtones; if you lose the WMPlayer assocition with mp3's, they then fail as ringtones. So, it seems that the Uni is losing it's WMA association - until u reboot. Now we know this it feels solvable:
- We need to know why WMA's are losing association
- Else we need to convert our ringtones to WAV's.
That's y for all other notifications also wav is the only option for us.
thanks for this theory... i still have this problem despite changing the registry...i will try having wav as ringtone.. thanks!

I'm guessing it's so he can receive calls silently but still be able to use the device for playing game or watching a film etc. Nothing worse than concentrating on something on the device (game, film) and being startled by the ringtone you use because you've got the system volume somewhere near max!
i need the blank mp3 file so that i can set it as my default ringer so i dont hear calls from people i dont wanna talk to.. i plan on setting custom ringers for the people i do normally talk to.. everyone else can go to voicemail for all i care.. i need a .mp3 .wma or .wav blank file
go to notepad....file >save as...(all file types)....*.mp3
doesnt work.. errors out
k i made a wma if neone wants it :x
also here is the .wav file
Why not edit the ringer profile, I can't remember the reg keys off hand, something like this:

Alternatively - load sndrec32 on your pc, record for a second and save as format mp3.

wing ringtone problem

randomly my ringtones will stop working. i dont have the volume on mute. i have to either go into the sounds menu and select a different ringtone and then go back to the one i was using or do a soft reset. its kind of annoying to do so. i just got my wing yesterday and ive had this happen to me twice now. has anyone experience this problem? also i was wondering if there is a way to stop the SMS/MMS ringtone from playing the whole ringtone even if i dismiss the message? i know i can just make the ringtone shorter but if there is a way to stop the ringtone, id much rather do that. thanks in advance.
I have this same problem with my t-mobile wing when I use an mp3 for sms tones, after a few messages it goes silent, I tried placing mp3 in windows folder but eventually it still goes silent, hopefully someone has a fix
yes exactly. only when I use a mp3 is when this problem occurs. hopefully there is a tweak or something to fix this
anyone have a solution?
i have the same problem and i've been having to do soft resets...pain in the butt
has anyone came up with an answer to this problem? i lived with it when i first got my wing, but now it has caused me to miss a few important text messages and what not from my girlfriend and other people.
I placed my .mp3 file in the windows folder and hit refresh then closed file explorer and assigned that .mp3 to my messages. It worked for a while but eventually it still goes silent so this is just a longer temporary fix. I'm still looking for a permanent fix

mine is saved to the phone. its the only way the ringtone will show up in the ringtones list for me to choose it.
It Think That It Might Be A Reg Tweak For This Ill Do Some Looking Around After I Get Outta Work
Same here...
I have the same problem as well. I've searched for registry fixes but I've found none. I've converted all of my sms rings from .mp3 to .wav and i haven't had a problem since. But .wav takes up a lot more space. Is this a problem with any other roms or just the t-mobile stock rom.
oh i didnt think about changing them to wav. ill try that.
what did you use to convert to .wav?

Cheetah Audio Converter for your pc. Move them to your desktop with ActiveSync, convert them, then copy them back.
http://www.freewr.com/freeware.php?download=cheetah-audio-converter&lid=1052
thanks i'll try this when I get off work
i use audacity to convert to wav and to chop the songs up. anyways using wav instead of mp3 has seem to solve the problem!

Stop music when you hit a key?

Alright well i searched around and i couldnt really find anything.
I use a .wav song for my text messages and its getting a little annoying now because it plays the whole thing every time i get a text message...
Is there any way that i can stop the music once i hit a key just like a regular phone would?
--- I use an ATT Tilt.---
there is a program called mp3 trimmer. I would suggest converting your .wav to an mp3 and trimming it down to a much shorter length, like 10 seconds or somethign like that. I am not sure if mp3 trimmer will work with .wav files. You should then be able to save the new file to the ringtones folder, select that tone from the list of tones for when you get a txt, and wallah you have a new short ringtone.

hilarious
but seriously, MP3Trimmer would be your best bet. If you have Audio Manager, you might already have it (it's inside Audio Manager)
good luck
in order to get the ringtone to stop playing you have to pres the red end call key. i have an tilt also and thats what i do to stop my ringtone and it works everytime
