I have the X1i
Overall very pleased with the phone, but able only to use GSM/EDGE because my provider works over 850MHz
I´d like to get the X1A too
Best Buy and Sony Style are taking pre-orders for january, not in stock...
Where can I buy one ??
Are they (X1A) already -really- "released" ??
Not already available ???
...eBay? A few auctions are for the X1a version. Make sure you ask the seller which version it is!

This question has been asked and asked on this sub-forum, I know ... but:
1) which region are you in, please ? I don't mean actual location, suburb etc but rather city or country area ?
2) if city, have you yet tested 3G connection in a country area?
3) if country, have you yet tested 3G connection in a city area ?
The reason behind these questions is to ascertain whether the A version of the device can connect to both UMTS850Mhz and 2100Mhz
im from san diego-city area and i get the h instead of the 3g. they are the same but i think because its unbranded, it shows the h instead of the 3g.
im in florida right now and i still get the h.
You get the H because it is really HSPA. I have actually on occasion seen the 3G icon on my X1a.

speeds, hsdpa is faster than 3g. depends on the roll out by your network to how many of the old 3g cells have been upgraded to hsdpa

when you mean 3g cells, you are talking phones? i have two phones, the x1a (unlocked/unbranded) and another cell thats is 3g capable (at&t branded). the x1a shows H, and the other one 3g. i have not seen 3g icon on my x1a and so i thought 3g was only an at&t thing. the only thing that i dont know, is what 3g band my at&t phone supports (850, 2100 or both)
talking towers. although the phones themselves will be causing some confusion.
a HSDPA cell tower will be able to take traffic for Voice or Data on GPRS, 3G or HSDPA depending on your phone. If the phone can't handle HSDPA you'll only see 3G whilst a phone which can will have H
However if you are on a 3G cell tower, it will only be able to do Vocie, GPRS and 3G, so both phones will see 3G

thanks for the clarification.
One correction. You see H is you have both HSDPA and HSUPA. If you see 3G, you most likely do have HSDPA, but just not HSUPA. Most carriers rolled out HSDPA with UMTS and are adding HSUPA after.
3G = UMTS
3.5G = HSPA (HSDPA + HSUPA)
ummm HSPA is still 3G.
the only thing special about 3.5G marketing is that they mean faster speed support like 7 Mbps instead of just 3 Mbps. The HSPA specification can go up to 14 Mbps.

Good question.
My carrier/provider works ONLY over 850MHz: both GSM and UMTS
With my european SE X1 I am getting ONLY GSM/EDGE signal
I have tested 3G with 850MHz phones in my city and I have pick strong 3G signal (not to mention FASST internet ), but again: with the X1i I can't get UMTS service...
i got my x1a from sonystyle.com when it was first released in November.
I am investigating into purchasing the HTC Touch 3G and have been noticing that some retailers are saying that it runs on the At&t network. If so does it run on their 3G network or is it just the Edge network.
I was just reading over some forums earlier and someone mentioned it does not work on ATT 3G.
I just got the phone yesterday, but the reception is SPECTACULAR when I put in my ATT 3G sim card. However people are saying it is not 3G for all US carriers.
Hi,
I'm currently living in Europe (France) but I will be moving to California (San Francisco) in early December. I own a blackstone, which I bought here in France.
How should I expect it to work in San Francisco? From what I understood, I might not enjoy 3G+ ... Is that true?
Any informations welcome
it will not have 3G service. Only the Tesla model will work with 3G in the states. My touch HD works works vary well in San Fran but it is the ausy model
As stated there is no 3G service.
However, plenty of free WiFi areas.
Ok, thank you very much! I guess there IS a 3G service, but my phone isn't compatible, right? In that case I'll just sell my phone before moving ... Or is it possible that there is still no 3G service in SF??

3G service in available in all major US cities; your phone needs to have the right US 3G bands. for at&t the 850/1900 band is used for 3G, for T-Mobile (i believe) it's 1700/2100.
what he said, so make sure the phone you buy next is North america 3G compatible (850-1900htz 3G). My Blackstone only has 850 htz 3G but I have never had a area where my ATT fuze was 3G and my Touch HD(ausy model) wasn't.
Okay, all clear now. Thanks a lot for all your help.
Cheers
Jan 29 In New York City my X1a on Tmobile showes an EDGE signal than at 7pm it switched to a Big H signal with full bars where ever I went. Then at midnight it switched back to Edge. Was Tmobile running a test for their new network and can x1a get 3g speeds on this network?
no it's most likely that you roamed on to AT&Ts network...
I turned off my phone then went to connection settings. I made sure I wasnt roaming it was tmobile and when i roam to ATT it usually displays a 3G signal
Interesting... Did you notice faster download speeds?
I'm also on T-mo in the Northeast, so I'll keep my eye on it.
you won't always know when you are roaming. The carriers are doing a lot to hide the fact that you are not using their network...
anyway... if you are using TMO, when even have 3G enabled??? kinda waste of battery power....!
Hi all
Im running the 7.0 ROM, bootloader and radio from tupac4u and am getting terrible reception in the UK most noticeable in the Poole/Bournemouth and south area.
I was on pure nexus previously and had the same issues.
I am roaming from NZ and usually it connects to Vodafone UK and sometimes EE.
Has anyone had any issues with reception here with the USA model phone? (I know 4g won't work but 3g+ is still hugely spotty and even call GSM reception and network is terrible).
Is there anything i can do? My colleague has a s6edge and gets better reception than me most of the time and we have the same mobile servive plan.
. thanks

These gsm bands should be supported by the US model:
850 GSM
900 (E-GSM) GSM
1800 (DCS) GSM
1900 (PCS) GSM
Scouce: https://www.frequencycheck.com/models/GNoeA/google-nexus-6p-h1511.
Me personaly i would never buy a US model for the EU/World market.
Thanks for your response. I am just wondering if there is a UK radio I can flash to get a better signal in general. My colleagues with similar banded phones get much better reception so I am just wondering if it is something to do with the 6P?
I'm in the UK for work, and on roaming .. if I lived in the UK I would have purchased a global model for sure.
Cheers
