loud speaker blown - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

my gf's 8525 speaker blew. its only a few months old. i was wondering when i call att to get it warrantied will i have a problem since i have the unofficial "official" rom installed. i think if i upgrade to the officially released as of nov. 1st rom that i shouldnt have any problems getting it fixed. i doubt they would check the spl version and what not which is my major concern.
any of you have any experience on this issue or any suggestions on if you should try to downgrade the spl after i upgrade the rom?

what do you mean the speaker is blown? Is it physically blown out
Often the connector comes loose or unplugged and all you have to do is plug it back in, but this requires tools and taking the phone apart. search, there are some "How-to" posts out there.

its blown as in the sound comes out very garbled. similar to when a car speaker is blown

can anyone please help with this?

verizon XV6700 speaker dead.

Hello, I was wondering if anyone had a source for a new speaker for a 6700. I was listening to internet radio one day and it stopped playing all of a sudden, apparently, it burned up the speaker because it hasn't worked since. Any ideas?
need one too
if u find a source for one pm me please
I have one from a scrapped xv6700
pm me if interested and I can list it on ebay @$10 - I'm in the UK though so shipping might be too much. Won't list it if no-one wants it.

Same thing
happened to me... speaker rang one day, then quit. i called verizon and they sent me a new one. sent the old one back. backup the data, then reflash back to your carriers original rom.

I Am Having The Same Prob I Dont Think Its Your Speaker Mine Is Doing The Same But If I Give It A Slap It Works For A Wile And Stops Again

To the poster above - dont hit the phone, if its a short you will just help break the already fragile wire, you might still be able to repair by soldering a new dab of solder on the speaker connector.
There is also a software bug, I first noticed after installing Skyfire, sometimes
you can glitch the audio to work again by playing around with various audio programs or doing a soft/hard reset.
It is most likely related to the drivers not being as up to date as the diamond/mogul etc...
Now if someone can figure out what the problem is and come up with a hotfix,
that would be super.
Is there a debugger that shows hardware calls we can look and try to isolate this problem?
For those having an actual hardware problem, I will post the URL of a chinese aftermarket supplier here in a few days, I have heard one exists.

Qtek 9100 - Mic & speaker dead, for the 2nd time

Hello all!
First, thanks for an awesome forum! It has both helped me tweak my Wizard, and also get help when I have needed it.
Well, I have no choice now but to ask here. Last autumn, my warranty was almost up, and a wierd problem presented itself. The mic and speaker suddenly just stopped working! The sidespeakers still work, I think, because the phone rings when someone calls me. But the caller can't hear me, and I can't hear the caller. And there isn't a hint of sound in it, no static or noise, there simply is nothing.
As there were only a few days before the 2 year warranty was up, I ran to my dealer and turned it in. A few weeks later, the phone returned, working again. But now that I come to think about it, I don't remember if I got a replacement or if they actually repaired it... It looked a little like they handled it rough though, maybe it was another phone... Well, that's not important right now.
The same thing has happened again! Summary:
1. Mic & phonespeaker dead
2. Stereo speakers work under certain conditions
3. Wired headset that came with the phone works, both for calling and media
So it seems like a hardware problem. Please note, although I downgraded the phone to original, official Swedish Qtek 9100 ROM, it has been thoroughly tweaked and upgraded to a number of different WM6 ROMs - but all that has been working beatifully!
Still, what are the odds for the mic&speaker dying twice in a row, on different phones (i think the present one is a replacement)?!?
Question: Does anyone recognize this? Is there a possibility that it is software related, and maybe fixable? I have searched both the web and these forums but haven't really found any information on it.
ANY input would be greatly appreciated!
Additional information:
Qtek 9100 (Swedish), G3 model, WM6 upgrade successful (unlocked)
EDIT: There are no system sounds, which is wierd, because the phone can still ring. I thought the system sounds came from the stereo speakers on the sides of the device?
Hello all!
It is a glorious day to be alive!!! Or to have a fully functional Wizard, at least!
Lol - my topic isn't very old, and i reply to it myself with a solution (?). I Googled after the Wizard service manual, and found it right here on Xda .
In all honesty, i didn't do all that much. I just followed the disassembly instructions of the wizard about half-way through, to the point where you get down to the back of the motherboard. I poked and fiddled enough to locate the mic assembly, only to discover that the mic is soldered to the mainboard of the phone. So, i figured i'd just leave it be, because if the mic is really broken the motherboard needs to be repleaced, or a replacement mic needs to be soldered on there.
After removing A LOT of dust in there (honestly, i think the service center that had my device last time wasn't very careful with anything, even a screw was missing! ), i reassembled it. The flat cable running to the keyboard was also a little skewed, but that may have been me, anyway i corrected it too. Same with the speakers.
Long story short, after successfully reassmbling the phone, i fired it up, called my home phone and voila! I works!
Not much of a fix, as i don't really know what i did exactly, but dust, dirt and some bad connections/soldering may have benn the culprit.
All in all, i'm very pleased with my afternoon here. Thanks for stopping by .

hi epatnor,
I think the problem with your phone was a stucked microswitch in the 2,5 mm connector for the headset. I read about it here in the forum. Sometimes the switch stays in the closed position and the phone still thinks the headset is connected. Thats why all the sound is sent to the not connected headset and therefor your phone seems to be not working (unless you connect the headset)...
But removing the dust is for sure not a bad thing...
For the next time: I think there was an easier solution for this problem than disassembling your phone...

Thanks huibuh_1,
Yes this was probably not the smoothest way of "fixing" it. That said, the stucked microswitch theory would actually fit my problem well - I can see now that the exact problem I was having would arise if such a switch was indeed stuck.
However, I think that the problem would be more intermittent since I actually use that port now and then - especially since it's the only way to talk (besides using a bluetooth headset that is). And since I connect the wired headset now and again the switch is used and moved, I suspect that this would result in the speaker/mic coming online again maybe..? Temporarily at least?
All the same, thanks for replying - this might happen again and with your information I'm better prepared for it!

Possible for a firmware to do this?

Lately I've been having weird issues, each pair of headphones of mine mysteriously stopped working in the left ear. If I wiggled it around a bit, the sound would come in and out of the left headphone.
So I got fed up and decided to flash the original firmware to take it back to the store where I still had a warranty. Once I flashed it I decided to test it, and sure enough the headphones now work perfectly. I wiggled furiously and could not get the sound to go away in the left earbud.
But from my understanding I didn't know that a firmware would be able to screw that up? I thought for sure it was a hardware problem. Can someone else comment on this? Or tell me how this is possible?
Thank you guys!
Hi .. Certainly it isn't the fault of the firmware .. its just a coincidence that you flashed the stock firmware and the headphones started working
Its definitely a hardware issue afaik ...

Speakerphone microphone hardware issue

Hi!
I had my S4 (I9505) serviced a few months ago. Warranty repair, they replaced the whole mainboard. The repair took forever, and when I got the phone back, I already had purchased another one (second hand) that I liked better (Xperia Z1 compact, I liked the size), so I tested the repaired phone was working, but no more than that. A few months later when I missed my big screen and some custom ROMs I took back my I9505 and started using it with stock ROM. I soon noticed people couldn't hear me when I was on speaker phone. Then I flashed a few aosp and CM based ROMs, and realized it wasn't a software issue: it did not work on those either. And when trying to dictate something, or use voice command, the phone just doesn't "hear" anything. So the same mic must be involved in those operations, which makes sense since it is when you speak from further away from your phone.
Unfortunately, months have passed since the repair and the phone is no longer under warranty.
I started investigating a little bit, and it seems there are two microphones on the phone. The regular one works well but the other one not at all. So, here are my questions:
1. Is the second microphone located on the top of the phone, next to the headphone jack? If anyone has a diagram or picture of the board with the second microphone marked, I'd be happy to see it
2. How is that second mic connected to the board? Is it a cable, a contact or is it welded? Or is it integrated on the board?
3. If it is a part that can be replaced, where can it be purchased?
4. Anyone has had the same issue? If so, could you solve it?
Thanks in advance!
Cheers!

Speakergate Question

Has anyone ever fixed a speakergate v20 without sending it back to LG?
Exactly wtf is 'speakergate'
The problem with the V20 where the speaker was crackling and distorted and eventually blew out. I see a bunch of folks when the phone first came out that exchanged them under warranty. I know there was a firmware update for it, but not sure if there is a way to resolve the issue without sending the phone to LG.
I'm here right now for the same issue. I've tried rooting and flashing roms and no fix. SO I assumed it was a bad speaker and swapped them out. That also didn't fix the problem. I believe the device is defected and trying to figure out what to do in terms of replacing it.
I was looking into it because I purchased a V20 on eBay that was listed as flawless condition but suffered from the speaker problem. My research lead me to return it to the buyer as the only examples I could find of people fixing it was when they returned it to their carrier or LG for repair. There is a possibility that a logic board swap could fix it, but that's a $100+ part. If you go down this route because you have no other options, I would get a commitment from the seller that they will accept a return if the speaker issue returns and plan to have a working speaker to swap in as well.
Some additional information: Both of the phones I had were marked as hardware version 1.0. I believe that one of the firmware updates would stop the issue from happening, but it could not fix the phone once the problem started appearing. If you do get things working, please make sure that you're on the newest firmware version as soon as possible (for Verizon it's 17a currently, November 2017).
