Hi
I am really hoping someone can help me.
My Hermes has suddenly and without warning died on me!
I reset it because it seemed to have a funny moment with the menu's.
Trouble is the Vodafone splash screen comes up, then the Windows splash screen and then NOTHING it never gets any further.
I have tried a hard reset and it comes up with 4 colour bars and just sits there.
Please can anyone help?
Robin
You can always re-flash your ROM if your getting that far. Just startup in the bootloader mode rather than letting it try to boot.
How long have you waited for windows to load? There are some things that cause it to hang for a very long time but it will eventually load in most cases.
I have left it for over an hour.
If left this long screen goes blank and won't start up from power switch, needs to be reset again.

Are you sure you made a HARD RESET? What buttons did you press?

Hmmmm
Maybe not.
I pressed and held the top button on either side of the phone and then pushed the reset button.
Is this not right?

Hi,
I have a tmobile MDA (wizard). I attempted to install some software on it, but disconnected and rebooted before it was complete (it appeared to be just spinning).
Now after a soft reset, screen shows only 'Windows Mobile' after booting, and none of the buttons work and I can't advance from this screen.
Is there a way to hard reset that doesn't involve using the OS (ie, I can't click on anything because it's not getting to that point).
Also in this state activesync isn't detecting device.
Thanks in advance! - Chris
Hold down (and keep holding) the camera button while depressing the reset button. Hopefully it boots into a tri-color screen. If so, plug it into the USB port and, at the bottom of the screen, it should display "USB". If that happens, flash it with a *known good rom*, such as a stock T-Mobile rom. Don't try to be clever, the object is to get the phone working. Once the flash has started, *get up and walk away* for 15 or 20 minutes. Don't check in on it, leave it alone, It takes some time. When you hear it's little chime, it's done, rebooted and ready. If any of the above doesn't happen or the flash outright fails, then you may have trashed it permanently. It doesn't sound like it's beyond hope yet, however.
i have the wizard and im having the same problem after installing a ROM from this website...it just goes to the windows mobile screen with the numbers then shuts off...id really like to save my phone is there anything else i can try because that hard reset thing isnt working

Well same thing happened to me a few days back.. I had to Cold Reset [which restored it to factory defaults], but hey I got it working again..
Press Communication Button [Top Left] and Record Button [Top Right] at the same time and use the stylus to soft reset..
You will get a black screen, asking you to press "Send" to reset to "Factory defaults"
Press "Send".
Hopefully you should get your MDA working again ...
I read the "Above" in the HTC Wizard Service Manual [PDF] on the *last page* under the "Cold-reset" Section..
Hi everyone.
This just started 2 days ago. This never happened before
When i turn on my phone everything is ok the screen is fine, but hen once it loads up its starts to lag. memory on the phone is not an issue. the scroll on the left side doesnt allow me to scroll down or up , the wheel moves but the on the screen nothing moves. Now the worse part is the screen.
When i turn off my screen and then turn it back on.. the colours are all messed up. the screen is a pinkish blue coulour and almost unreadable. i tried a soft reset and the screen goes back to normal but once I turn off the screen and turn it back on , i get the same problem.. Now do you think a hard reset would fix the problem?
I had this start last weekend. I had the screen issues and the hardware buttons were very sporadic in function. Most of the time they just didn't work.
I flashed back from Black Satin to the T-Mobile rom and sent it off for repair. Should hear back next week as to the outcome.
Is your under warranty? Just send it away.
Only downside is I've only got a Blackberry Pearl as a backup at the moment.....
The above advice is good. Before going for warranty repair though you should do a hard reset to rule out a software issue.
Mike
No its not under warranty. I have no idea what rom is on it. I-MATE ROM is what shows up when it boots up. So it sounds like a hard reset will be the first choice. im not very familiar with these things so pardon if i sound a bit off. i wouldnt even know how to flash or anything like that.
Well i tried to hard reset and it it seems not to be letting me do that.
just hold the left and right soft key and press the reset button at the same time and wait for a prompt to pop up.. nothing it just soft resets.. now im getting a bit frustrated.

Well, I assume you have tried a few times. It's difficult sometimes to get them all simultaneously pressed. Incidentally, just in case there's any confusion - the soft keys are actually the hard keys with dashes on the D-Pad.
Another way is to go to Sart>Settings>System>clear storage icon.
Just bear in mind that if there is a major problem it may fail completely and you end up with even more of a problem than now - but I guess there is no choice really.

I need some help...I'm freaking out...
I cooked a ROM with dcd's version 1.6.9 for BELL a few days ago and it was wonderful and worked great.
Today, I tried to upgrade to version 1.6.10 and I f___ed something up.
It starts the htc boot up screen as usual, then the Bell screen comes up as usual, then a Sprint screen comes up briefly and then the Windows Mobile screen comes on and HANGS........
I have tried cold reboots, and nothing. I cant connect to it with USB.
I can kick myself for making an error because I was rushing......
Can anyone please help............................
Search the forums here, there's a way to have to phone boot into the bootloader where you can reflash the phone.
Cheers,
Tom
P.S. Have you tried hard reset?

If I recall correctly isn't it power, camera reset button????
Hard Reset:
With the Sprint Mogul I believe its holding the 2 soft buttons, the ones with dots on them, above the Red and Green phone buttons. Holding these down, push the reset button with the stylus and hold the two soft buttons for a few seconds, until something comes on the screen, which I can't recall at the moment....
Hi everybody!
Just got my Leo two days ago and I was bombed. Had a 4350 before and you can imagine what big a difference that is. But now this occured and I really don't know what the heck is going on here. Without any reason the Leo froze after not using it for two hours, just an active sync connec. So I grabbed it and it was frozen. Thus i did a soft reset. When it rebooted, for some reason it seemed like the first time I started the device, asked me for the time and google settings etc. Very confused. But then I came to the Homescreen, which was blank, just like after a hard reset. Ok, I thought. This is nasty but all my stuff was backed up, so what. I tried to switch to the settings panel and found it ultra super slow and the settings panel wouldn't even appear on the screen, just the title on top. I thought, this is wrong, very wrong and decieded for another soft reset. And now it won't boot at all. It stands still in the screen where it shows this pink circle and the RUU and whatnot version.
I am speechless. It just doesn't start, tried it like 4 times now. I didn't update RUU or anything since this thing is T-Mobile branded and it wouldn't let me. I tried it this morning but just got the error in windows that my device won't allow... After that I took it for a 3 hour ride outside and used it for like 10 more hours. And now this!
Has this ever occured to anyone else around here?
Any suggestions? I'm quiet angry right now, think I gonna return it tomorrow. Hopefully they don't say I tried to flash it or whatever since I did not. Cannot explain this to me.
Regards,
Zoimt
hi sounds like bad news have you tried a hard reset
Do a hard reset, press the up and down volume then at the same time press the power button. Keep all three pressed for about three seconds and a hard reset will start. If it happens again you have a faulty device.
I thought a hard reset is only possible in windows. Since I never come so far in booting process, I just tried it once but nothing happend. Not sure if I tried it for 3 seconds I assume I did

Take the battery out then put it back in. Once it's in press all three buttons at once until you see the hard reset begin. It will ask you to confirm by pressing the up volume button.
Oh boy! It started again! I thought I tried to hard reset it with the key combo you also adviced me and nothing happened but this time it worked. Thus I assumed it only works at a later point in the boot process. But thanks for showing me the opposite!
Man, this takes a load off my mind, thanks! Just hope this was a one time thingy and doesn't occur every 28 hours again.
