Multi-function pen - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Accessories

Hi everyone!
I've been reading these forums for quite a while, which got me to buy the TyTN II! I absolutely love it!
Now I've search quit a bit and haven't found anything really relevent.
I was searching for some kind of good quality multifunction pen that's good/precise enough for the TyTN II.
Now I know I don't want to spend a 100$ on this, but I've saw several in the 25$ which seems okay but not that much of a good quality (tell me here if I'm wrong).
Like these:
http://www.overlayplus.com/CA/multipen.asp?pid=1458&prod_type=pen
or
http://www.expansys.ca/d.aspx?i=151168
Now these seems fine especially the one on expansys as it has pencil.
I don't really care if it has laser or not, I need to be able to write with it and use it a a stylus
Any suggestion would be more than welcomed!
(Suggestions where they can ship to canada of course eheh)
Thanks a LOT!
Long life to TyTN II

oh man, shop around.
I got a really inexpensive one at Fry's for $5.99.
They also had the $35 variety, but all I was really looking for was a larger stylus since I have huge banana hands.

So thus me asking about all this!

Staples has a multifunction pen call "QUATREX 4-in-1 multifunction pen" Item #577915
Has Blue, Black, Red (all med 1.0mm) and 0.7mm pencil. It comes with a stylus tip that you can use to replace any of the colors or pencil (you can only have 4 items installed at once). Includes 12 lead and 8 eraser refills. For ink is uses Staedtler multifunction ink refills.
The great thing is they are only $4.99 each

Hmmm weird can't find anything even with the item number was it on staples.com or .ca ? even why I type quatrex? :|

I'm a fan of fisher space pen.. for the fact that I like to have it with me all the time. When it closed, it is like.. er.. 2/3 of normal pen length.. and the catridge itself.. suppose to be .. space tech. So far (1+ years now) it's still pretty good. Most £5 pen would have spilled on my pocket now. Anyway, they have this spacepen with stylus too
http://www.spacepen.com/Public/Products/BulletPen/Stylus/index.cfm?productID=74
good consideration. The official page is selling it at.. £10 for the basic one.. but I tend to get cheaper options from eBay.
UPDATE: Oops.. just notice.. you seems to want everything. Hmm.. the bulletspace pen may not be your tea. They have multi func pens too. Look around their webpage.

I know its odd. I've never seen them on the site either. I've only ever seen them in the physical stores on the shelf with all the other writing pens. And whats funny about it is its a Staples brand name item.

I've been using that one for 4 years now. It can be had just about anywhere. But I likes the one mentioned in the OP. I might have to get one of those, or see what Fry's has to offer.

I have the first one you listed in the OP, this one:
http://www.overlayplus.com/CA/multipen.asp?pid=1458&prod_type=pen
Got it as a company gift, and have no complaints. My dog likes it too, he chases the laser pointer around the floor.

Parker just came out with a multipen. I just received mine from Fountain Pen hospital. Its good looking and has a great hand feel. The pen has Black, Red ball pens, .5mm pencil and pda tip.

A Seidio representative told me they would have a 3in1 stylus available soon...stylus/pen that fits in the phone. I had the same product from them in my 6700/Apache so I look forward to getting the new model as soon as they're released.

Custom Kaiser Lanyards

They are available here.
Would any of you be interested in a small wrist lanyard or a neck lanyard that would be custom made for the kaiser? I am having some made for me, but I would need to order in bulk, and I don't have the need for more than one
Either way, I just talked to the rep who makes them, and I gave him some specific requests for a custom lanyard that would:
A: Not have any material that could scratch the Kaiser
B: Would have the smallest quick release connector made
C: Would have the smallest strap that would fit around your hand to get on your wrist, thus leaving only the minimal hanging strap when in a case.
D: Would be Black to match the Kaiser
E: Could have custom imprinting on the strap to say.... Kaiser, TytnII, HTC, whatever we would want it to say.. or nothing at all.
Let me know if anyone would be interested. I'm pretty sure the cost would be less than a few bucks... Either way I will be ordering them for myself.
JB
I'd be in for a couple.

Excellent... Anyone else?
RemE: You would be good with the small wriststrap correct?
JB
Yes, and I've liked this type minimal length lanyard for other small things like cameras as well, that's why I'd like a couple.
If you're putting a quick release on it anyway; how about making a wrist strap & a neck lanyard matching pair that has the same connector... easy to switch off between them. I think that'd be cool and worth a few extra bucks.

Check these guys out, they may have what you need already.

http://reviews.cnet.com/headphones-headsets/rivet-rhythm-earphone-lanyard/4505-6468_7-31753449.html
Note, thay also make an attachment that threads through any spot meant for a camera type wrist strap. Not sure if the Kaiser has one of these, but it looks like it may from the pictures I have seen.
The thing I like about this system is that you can use the clips with more than one device.
One thing to note though, I tried the Harmony headphones with my 8125, and could only get one side of the headphones working. Seems the 4pin 2.5mm connectors used on the 8125 do not have any type of standard for how they are wired. I am guessing this would not be the case with the Kaiser, but you would need to use the usb to 3.5mm adapter in conjunction with the rivet offerings.

Thanks for the link... but the lanyards they have, use metal adapters and that is what I am trying to avoid. The metal adapters will scratch the device. Not to be too anal, but when you pay 800 for a device, it's always a good idea to keep it in mint condition to have a good resale when the next hot device comes out.
JB
Spend a bit more and get this then...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=333707
I'd say it has easily prevented $20 worth of scratches on my wife's iPhone already and it also has just a slightly tackier feel to it, so the phone doesn't slip out of your fingers as easily, although the OP on this link indicates the Kaiser already has a tacky backplate, probably for that very reason.

Thats a great idea as well... But my own reason for wanting a lanyard is to help me pull the device out of the belt case that I use to carry it in... Almost everytime I have dropped a phone, it has been when I am taking it out of the case... With the lanyard on it, It will be easier to pull out, as well as keep it from hitting the ground.
I have been super busy at work, but I will be making the phone call very soon to get the lanyards...
JB
Well... I just finished getting a quote for the lanyards...
Looks like my idea is getting stomped...
The company wants a minimum order of 100 units at 1.52 per unit... That means I would have to dish out 160 dollars... Thats fine with me, but I'm concerned I wouldn't be able to get the money back...
Also, they won't send out one neck lanyard and one wrist lanyard with a cell conector, since it would mean that they would have to have more male connectors than female connectors. So the only way is to order half of the lanyards as 36" and the other half as 12"...
Either way, they are very nice lanyards and I really want a few for myself. If you all think I could get rid of 90 of them then I will go and order them...
Another Idea I had, was to have, "XDA Developers" prnted on the lanyard, and the site can use them as a way to help get donations.... such as selling lanyards for 5 bucks or so...
Gimme some feedback if ya all would please.
JB

I take enough pride in my geekness to buy something branded with XDA Developers, but I don't have a need for a lanyard.
It's a pretty good idea though. You may want to get it out to a broader audience via another more general post, as I am sure the interest would apply for other devices as well. Me thinks one of the moderators should be able to help out with this.
Ok, I will order the Lanyards with, "XDA Developers" on the lanyard. The lanyard will be polyester black, and the text will be a dark grey. I'm not into big bright text, I like being low key.
It will be 50 neck lanyards and 50 small wrist lanyards.
I don't think I will have an issue getting them outa my hands.
JB
let me know when you get em - m presumably you take paypal?
I am a bit of a loser for a lanyard!!!
Ok willdo...

1 wrist & 1 neck

Its funny what their third "feature" is.
It is a three in one:
-Stylus
-Pen
-Phone resetter!!! LOL I guess we need a special tool to stick into the bottom of your device to reset it. Didn't know a stylus itself wouldn't do that lol

excellent find, thank you
I've always had success with seidio products. I'm wary of buying a "cheaper" solution because I've heard plenty of stories of leaky pens...
Are there any actual sized pen's that can be used as a stylus too?
I use a pen a work and school a lot and I don't want to keep putting down my pen and picking up my stylus and vise versa.
The ones on ebay seem to small. I need to write a lot so I would prefer like a pen size.

Seidio Pens are good at leaking too trust me.
Plus you can not get more than a sentence or two before it runs "out of ink" for a few minutes..

Sure, there are lots of them. One place to start, just to give you an idea, would be Stylus Central:
http://www.styluscentral.com/index.html
Their pages about 2, 3 and 4 Point Multi Pens would have some pen/stylus combos.
I've been through many multi pens and the one I'm using right now is the Cross Matrix. I didn't see it on Stylus Central anymore and I think Cross has stopped producing it (though the refills are still made.) It is, however, available on ebay. In my experience it has the smoothest Stylus point I've used.

I've gone through 6 cheap pens so far. They run out of ink way too fast, and always at a bad time.
Does anyone know of one that lasts like a regular pen?
BE CAREFUL with all in one pens from anyone. The Kaiser gets very hot and will make any sealed ball point pen leak. I have tried a few and every one of them burst.
My friend has a Kaiser also and the same issue happened to him.
There is nothing you can do to keep a sealed hot ball point pen form leaking... END OF STORY!

Replacement Stylus

I recently lost my stylus, at a park I think. I put the pen in my pocket instead of putting it back in my phone. That was a dumb mistake
Does anyone have a suggestion on where to buy a replacement stylus from?
Seems the price can range from 5 for $8($1.60 per Stylus) to 3 for $20($6.70 per Stylus). Is there any advantage to buying the more expensive ones or are the cheap ones just as good?
I couldn't find a thread that addressed this issue, if I missed it a re-direct would be appreciated
I've bought my replacements for my tilt at eforcity
http://www.eforcity.com/metal-stylu...-ii-chtc4550st02.html?int=efsechtxtrigos-item
they do a lot of business on ebay and carry a whole range of other stuff too. They also give you a $5 coupon for your next purchase for giving a review on reseller ratings
but there are many other sellers out there, i've seen no difference in the quality of the stylus, though I did have problems with a Nintendo DS stylus I bought from a Chinese vendor once. but then again 90% of this kind of stuff comes from china.
I am also in need of a replacement stylus, i lost my original one, the replacement i purchased seems to have a rougher tip than the original, i'm afraid it will scratch the screen.
I've seen them before in a Best Buy store, look around the phone accessories, or, if all else fails, ask someone.
Thanks for the replies.
I ordered some off ebay. 3 for $7. Seem decent enough. Weight a little more than the originals, which I think is a good thing.
All I have to do is hope the pens don't explode now
Looks Like a Good Buy, the only thing you might have to worry about is 1) the ink leaks out into the phone( i don't think the kaiser battery would generate enough heat), 2) losing the cap for the pen since it is the snap of type, can remember where i got mine from , it actually screws off first time i ever tried to use the pen side(lol). just mentioned eforcity since i bought all my cases and stuff from them, guess i didn't buy my stylus from them since they have the same type with the snap off. they sell some strange stuff at notebook.egde, i might pick up the 15 pc screwdriver set for 4.99, gotta replace the buttons on my tilt.
Me too. lost 2 stylus and now after using new finger friendly ROM since few months I dont feel need of stylus.
Unlosable stylus
Instead of getting a "stick" stylus, why not get a object that acts like a stylus? sounds like a funny riddle, but when you own one, the stick styluses do seem funny.

Stylus for A500?

Has anyone done testing with a stylus for the A500? If so, what were your thoughts?
I'd like something I can use to either draw quick sketches for photo ideas, or something I can use to jot a quick note here and there (of course, I'd probably need an app that supports handwriting, but those may come in time).
I purchased a Targus stylus today. Having come from the old pre-capacitive days when the stylus is hard, the new stylus' seemed a little odd but I must say the control is very good. Pin point accuracy - excellent for drawing.

I also got the Targus stylus a week or so ago; and it does works well.. I saw another stylus somewhere online that is supposed to give you even finer control and allow you to actually see exactly where the stylus is touching the screen, but now I can't find where I saw it. I'm thinking about giving the new one a shot too, if I can find it again. ;-)

I think you're referring to this one:
http://cgi.ebay.com/DAGi-Stylus-P10...?pt=US_Tablet_Accessories&hash=item41582701ff
I have one and it works very well in general. The only issue is getting it at the right angle with the screen - particularly if you have the screen at an angle. But I like it better than the rubber tipped ones.
I bought the Boxwave stylus. I like it a lot. However it doesn't always catch it, sometimes it clicks on a screen I don't want or am scrolling through. But other than that, I am very happy with it for detailed work. My fingers get sweaty on occasion and I have a hard time using the screen when they are like that. So the stylus is a nice addition to have, especially if you don't like fingerprints.
I do wonder if it will somehow mess up the screen though later on.
Just curious, is there any way to get hand writing recognition to work? So for instance, if I bought one of these stylus's, would I be able to use it and forgo the need for an on screen keyboard?

I'm using flexT9 app which has peninput, but its not perfect, the capacitive stylus is more like big stick then a pen
Can anyone recommend a stylus that's got more of a penpoint tip rather than something the size of a finger?
With a capacitive screen I don't think something like this exists. Although I was in a meeting today with somebody taking notes on an I pad, not sure how they were doing that.
I own this stylus and I really like it. This is the only stylus I have used so I cannot compare it to anything.

I got word yesterday that Acer is releasing one specifically for the A500. I will get more information and keep everyone posted.
I'm getting behind on everything as I had to go out of town for a few days on a business trip. Also, prototype custom Iconia case ships to me today for a review and should be available stateside after the 26th. It's similar to the FUSE.
I also use a Targus stylus for iPad as it was called.
Has a soft rubber tip, but works great on my device.

It's Beautiful Widgets app with honeyclock clock skin and Oxygen HD weather skin. It works very well on my A500!

I picked up one myself. I love it, its exactly what I wanted. My only complaint is its a little heavier then I had hoped for.
I just bought the case at my local Best Buy. So far I like it but it's kinda thick though.
I got the last one at my Best Buy. I like, the only thing that bothers me is that the front facing camera gets covered sometimes, but I just insert my stylus on that flap on the top right corner so its right under the power button and it keeps the camera in the clear.
It looks a lot better than the one that Acer made. I wish I could return the one I bought at Staples and get that one.
Isn't it covering up part of the volume down button? From the pics it looks like it is.. Can someone confirm?

Yes sir covering up the most importnant one. Volume - for recovery. But if you push on it still works. Just covers a portion of it. Still accessible love this case so far just bought it last night.
Gonna go look at it today. Looks awfully thick compared to the acer one... other than that, it looks really nice.
Are there cut-outs for the speakers?
Edit: Got it. Love it. I found that I can just press the leather strap at the top for volume down. it does slightly obscure the front camera, but it's not like I ever USE it. No one want's to see me anyway. And if I did use it.. I can just pull that strap behind the tab temporarily.
Case looks good but i am having a feeling it will add alot of bulk to the tablet
I bought one and love it. It does add bulk, but it adds protection. The case could probably protect the tablet from pretty decent drop.

I have some real nice photo's of the strap hangs behind when the case is open. (a little sarcasm there).
When the case is open, and the strap is dangling behind the tablet, it hangs EXACTLY in front of the rear facing camera. Makes it kind of odd to take picures.. have to pull the strap up and hook it over the top corner to keep it out of the way.
meh.. i guess that's not too difficult. The stand function is much more stable than the acer oem case was. I still love this.

Yeah, I returned the Acer one back to Staples a couple days after I bought it. Not only was it cheap feeling and poorly fitting, but it either shed or attracted an insane amount of dust/lint. Every time I opened it my screen was practically frosted.
So now I have this Targus case the OP bought. It's definitely protective and high quality and the built in stand is great, but it's huge. I know it is supposed to resemble a portfolio so I'm not surprised at the size. At the moment, there really isn't anything better from a reliable manufacturer, so I'll probably switch to this from my usual In-Case neoprene slipper case. I'd love a rigid, snap on style case with screen cover like their Magazine case for the iPad. Keeping my fingers crossed
based on all the positive feedback I purchase the truss case today. It is a bit bulky, but I do not mind the heft, because it gives me a good piece of mind knowing the a500 is protected. I wonder how long the elastic on the closing strap will last with it being pulled and turned around all the time. Overall, it seems to be a great case.
When open place the strap over the top. It's out of the way and keeps the tab in his case
