On the stock HTC sence, there is a Twitter App on the bottom bar, is it possible to swapp this with a facebook one?
I don't believe their is a tab for Facebook on the Sense tabs currently. Best you can do is put Facebook on a quick link on the Home Screen. Then again the Windows Mobile Facebook program is quite crap, use the mobile web one instead.

Yup no Sense facebook yet, so you cant swap it.
Ah, thanks anyways!
Thought id check out what homescreen apps people are using and compare features etc....
Currently Im using launcherpro and have been for a while....love it but know theres plenty more out there:
ADW launcher
Home++
Slidescreen
Pandahome
...to name but a few....anyone got any thoughts or comments ?
Also given all the hoo har in the news re ropey apps being able to dial premium numbers etc does anyone have any thoughts on this?
Reason that came about is because a number of apps ive seen have the ability call telephone numbers...now for a homescreen app that controls most phone functions id expect that to be normal? but would i be right in thinking that?
let us know....

I use Launcher Pro Plus.
And as a simple solution to premium numbers, you can just get your network provider to disable access I did that before my phone even arrived
Homescreen will likely need it so it can initiate calls etc. But be wary of apps that can make calls. I think google need to implement a UAC-style permissions system (like superuser permissions for root), that controls apps' access to the permissions they "need" in a similar manner. Then you could see when the app ACTUALLY needed the permissions, and deny or allow on a one-off or always basis.
I wonder if that's possible, if we could catch the intents etc. ???
I'm using launcherpro mainly as it seems to be the most responsive. I'm not interested in pretty widgets etc. Just speed

Hi,
I'm running CM7 at the moment. Does anyone has a suggestion for a good dialer?
Patrick
Dialer one is okay

Rom Development - only meant for very advanced technical discussion directly related to ROM development activity and the delivery of actual ROMs and ROM components ONLY. Nothing else goes in here.
@lukyjay:
I've reviewed this thread and it seems like a legitimate request for a Dialer application which is typically classified as a Theme/App - no action taken.
dialer one is ok
dialer2 is better
Whenever i'm on a stock rom i use Youlu.
atakephone is a very good dialer. in my opinion way better than dialer one or 2 or even the htc dialer.
its not for free but very cheap (~1,50€)
if you come from sense use dialer2
it rocks
dialer one
After trying DialerOne for a long time and now using Dialer2 (which is pretty, but very slow) I still find that they're both inferior to the Sense dialer :/. I wish the "stock" CM dialer were better, as right now I feel stuck with a slow dialer due to needing the search capabilities of Sense-like dialers.
Also, DialerOne didn't display contact images in call history despite displaying them fine in the contacts list.
I downloaded yesterday "atakephone", haven't yet tested it fully, but it really looks promising. Worth a try.

youlu is very nice, or dialer one if you want something less pretty and more basic.
If only there was an "old fashioned" phone dialer app where you rotate the wheel until you get to the number and repeat for each digit.

Gingerblur deletes the Moto messaging app and replaces it with the stock android one. The two ways to get back to bubbles that I know of are to go into the .zip bloatware file and find what you're looking for, or you can download a third party messaging app (I recommend Handcent) that will do it for you.
That's great app, thanks.
Go SMS Plus is a great alternative as well.

I love go sms pro

+1 for Go SMS
YUP -- I tried both Handcent and GO Sms based on the referrals in this thread. I must asy.. GO SMS PRO was the handsdown winner... very customizable, fancy transitions, ease of set-up, no lag, and fast sync with my facebook contacts. Good stuff.
I have been combing the developer.android site for a specific way to implement an app i'm trying to flesh out. The answer to this question will hopefully point me in the right direction.
I am trying to design an app that is basically a slave to whatever messaging apk the user wishes to download. Example: Handcent lets you use it's ringtone picker for almost every app that has notifications, even though it is a separate app for messaging in and of itself. What is the terminology for how this was coded for Android? I want to do something similar but i have no idea of where to look to find making my app the service for the function on the device
