Brackets for the first 3 digits.. - P3600 General

Hi guys
Need your help. My friend just got a D810/Trinity recently. He has English (Australia) as his setting. There wasn't any brackets for the phone number in the Contact before today, but suddenly, now there's brackets appearing. For e.g. (698)70948. In Singapore, there is no area code which needs to be in brackets.
Anyone know how to resolve this? We didn't want to select Chinese (Singapore) in the setting cos' we do not want Chinese character to be displayed.

i would change it to what i wanted in outlook delete contacts on the phone and sycn them back from outlook

Phone not working because of Country code (Outlook2003 sync)

Hi there,
I have synced all my contacts from Outlook 2003 indo the XDA II and cannot make any phone calls any more, after a while of playing around I’ve found out that if I take away the +61 in front of the phone number it dials with no problems.
I have looked all over support forums on the net, have spent many hours playing around with the XDA II but cannot find away around the problem, My reginal settings are all correct (All set to Australia) and all the phone settings I’ve set up as Australia as well.
I would really appreciate it if some one could point out a way to fix this problem I am having, as you can imagine it is VERY annoying editing the number before calling and after syncing up again if you ever edit the contact in Outlook it automaticly puts the country code back in.
Any help would be GREATLY appreciated… thanks very much in advance!

Is any one else having this problem?
check following
Allways enter numbers following way
+31 (6) 12345678
+49 (123) 1234567
between brackets is city code
Also check in addressbook under [Tools] - [Options] that you empty the field Area code:
And under Country/Region: select your country
Works exellent for me this way
Tuurtje
Thanks Tuurtje, recived another reply saying that there is a known problem with the phone using country codes when your area code starts with a 0... leave the 0 our of your country code and all should work 100%
Apparently this is a bug because no USA country codes start with a "0"...

Numbers in international format not working for SMS

All the telephone numbers in my address book are stored in international format e.g. +44 +64 etc.
When I reference my address book to complete the 'To:' section of an SMS it pulls in the number but without the '+' sign. This prevents the SMS being sent without the '+' being entered manually.
Does anyone else experience this problem and has anyone found a fix.
Thanks.
i just made an entry where i put in the +45 in the first part of the telephone nr and then made a new sms and clicked to: and choose the freshly made contact and i get the whole nr in my case +45234567 (random nr dont try to call it at home )
i'm using the 1.66 rom and sync with the outlook 2k i got for free with my xda2 (qtek2020)
Thanks for that. I'm on 1.03.00 so I'll look for a ROM upgrade.

Phone number now has brackets?

After hard-resetting my mini and loading ROM 1.11 then not loading the extended rom ( reset prior to installation ) I notice when I dial a number on the phone, it now reads (993) 137-83 instead of 9931 3783
Any ideas as to why? Am I supposed to run a particular cab file?
thanks in advance

The short answer is YES, its in one of the CAB files but I don't know which one. If I hat to guess I'd go for the "default_103133" CAB.
What i did was test each CAB file to see what it changed but didn't write it down.
Try playing around with the regional settings... example if u use english (australia) the bracket will be gone or if u use english (united states) the numbers dialled will be according to the standard format there which has brackets. good luck.

Thanks folks, Adit you hit the nail on the head. My regional settings were set to United States. Much appreciated.
hi. im in sydney wit xda2mini, set my region to english aust.
in my contact i have like this : (04) 0157-5243 for mobile phone, which is very bad looking. can some1 tell me how to change it to 0401575243 or 0401 243 575.. as long it doenst have bracket, then im happy
maybe this is because my outlook? i sync my xda with outlook 2000. i tried to change outlook setting but couldnt find the correct option like region or something. thx every1~~~~~~~~~~~
Check ypur regional settings on your PDA.
START, SETTINGS, REGIONAL SETTINGS, make sure it is selected to ENGLISH (AUSTRALIA)
I have changed this setting and I still have the numbers looking stupid with the brackets.
Might it have something to do with how outlook handles the numbers?
yes, thats what i said in prev. post. if i insert new contact FROM XDA, then i wont have bracket. but if i create new contact FROM OUTLOOK, it will make 1st 2 digits inside brackets. i couldnt find any setting in outlook to modify this.. some1 can help? thx
Outlook
Lads,
This is an outlook querk. If you go into a contact and enter a phone number or tap the edit button next to a contact you get a window which has three enterable areas. Country code, NDC (National destination code) or area code and number. Outlook automatically formats the number into
+<country code> (<area code>) <number
You can stop it from doing this but it can be helpful when its formatted like this. I've changed all my numbers to this format.
Re: Outlook - how to remove brackets on numbers?

This bracket thing is really annoying me too.
Is there any English (Indonesia) or English (Singapore) that don't use bracket? Or should we change to English (Australia)?
Hormat saya,
Arto.
UK
Try UK regional settings. No brackets
i believe the problem is at the OUTLOOK side, not from the xdamini. like i said, (mine set to english australia) if i enter new contact FROM XDA, then it will be stay without bracket, but iwill have bracket if i create new contact FROM OUTLOOK.
I think it will only add brackets once you edit the number. I think Outlook sees spaces in the phone number as telling it what is the international code, area code etc. If you leave the number as +11234567890 I think Outlook ignores it.
I had mine as a mixture but prefer them with the brackets and so edited them.
Its definitely Outlook not the phone

[Q] question about Contact issue after mango - OMNIA 7

last night I installed successfully on Mango Omnia7 with the network trick ...
After the update I noticed that I had lost a lot of numbers in contacts
I have a TIm operator in italy, and i have a subscription with TIM operator that, if I putting the prefix 4141 before the normal number the call is pay from my company ... and not from my personal prepaid card
so if I have 2 category for the same contact numbers: ES.
phone: +AB CBD EFGHILM
Work: 4141 CBD EFGHILM
the numer are identical but the first is normal whit the "+" the country prefix end next the number
the second id idencical but dont have the "+" and the country prefix.
the phone only shows one number... with out logic .. some contact i look only the phone numer and from come conctat only the work number
after mango all run fine without problem...
therefore does not accept similar number 2 (because in fact they are not equal) on different categories ....
I have a useless phone book numbers, why should I move all of the category "work" under "phone" and keep only the numbers with the prefix 4141 .... but ...... I could not send SMS to all contacts of work ....
first mango (node) everything worked normally ...
any ideas!
sorry for my english
thaqnks in advance

Stock Messaging App - Same Contact -> 2 topics

Hello, guys!
First, I´m using Note 3 SM-N900 version.
I´m having an annoying problem with my stock messaging app.
I have my contacts with their number with area code saved (i´m in Brazil, so it would be: 0 41(operator code) 43 (area code) 9999-9999 (phone number), resulting in: 0414399999999, rather than only their number (99999999). I save the numbers like that so I can call them wherever I am inside Brazil. And it works (obviously).
The problem is: when I send any message to them (to that 0414399999999), they receive it, I receive that "message received" confirmation, everything ok!
But when they answer, the answer gets to ANOTHER topic, with a number without the operator code (04399999999).
I can answer them through this topic, no problem with that.
You would say: that´s correct, 'cause those are 2 different numbers.
So I added the second number (which, actually, is the same phone number), without operator code, to the contact, so it would recognize that it´s the same contact and put them at the same topic, but no success.
If I save the contacts without the operator code, I can´t call them. I can only call them if I save without any code (either operator or area code) or with both.
Question is: is there any way to MERGE those topics?
The image will explain better what I mean.
