T-Mobile WInd + Agile Messenger Help?? - Wing, P4350 General

So I have Agile Messenger, and for some odd reason it rarely ever connects to AIM (i don't use any other messsengers to test on)....95% of the time it hangs @ "Connecting AOL" and never does any thing...Intenret is working fine.
Any ideas or clue as to why its doing this? Any one else have this issue?
edit: just noticed some thing else....it only connects through the 'ActiceSync" connection (while connected to my PC of course) is there any way to set it to connect through data/gprs?

MSN Auto Logs off!

Hi, I use my MSN quite abit but have noticed that even when I have left my phone on, logged in to MSN, when I revisit it later I notice that I've either been logged off or that I apear logged on but am not, and when I go to change my status I can't and have to log back in again.
I've installed the latest MSN update and have not tried or tested for this since. I just wonder if this is a common problem as I want to run my website support through this service butcan't if I keep getting cut off.
Thanks
Paul.
I gather you're using Pocket Version of MSN Messenger Service on Xda II? Well, as I do not know exactly your network setup, I could suggest a few reasons why MSN logs you off.
1) If you're on USB passthrough or WiFi, and if the phone is set to turn off if not used for a certain minutes - You MSN will lose connection when your device's power is turned off.
2) There's another session probably on your desktop PC loggin in, that logs you out from the Pocket session.
3) MSN server disconnection.
However, I think #1 is the usual suspect.
Also, if you answered a call, you'll lose your GPRS connection, and MSN will disconnect...
The thing I hate about it? If someone sent you a message, and you have not read it yet - but got disconnected, it dissappears. =(
I've since swiched to Agile Messanger; only thing I dont' like about it is I can't 'mark' text to copy & paste somewhere else...
Hi
Apologies for this, but I thought it better to bump this post than start a new thread asking about it again. Basically I get the exact problem as orininally described.
When connected on GPRS, I sign on to MSN Messenger. In under 5 minutes of idle activity I have been disconnected from MSN, but unless I attempt to open a conversation or change my status it is not evident. Even after several hours the contact list is still visible as if I am still connected. When I tap a contact that appears online to start a conversation, MSN then realises its offline and drops back to the sign-in screen.
If I am constantly using MSN, such as having a lengthy conversation, MSN stays online.
I can confirm that during the idle time when MSN does disconnect, GPRS is constantly connected and has not been interrupted by a call. MSN does not seem to be very useful on my phone unless I want an immediate conversation, otherwise within a few short minutes its offline.
From the looks of things MSN does not appear to be sending a ping out to keep its connection alive when idle, and just stays in a dead state until used again... thus the MSN server disconnects it. Is there any way to fix this behaviour or is there no such problem if I switch to Agile Messenger?

MSN Messenger problem

Can someone help me to get MSN messenger to work?
I did hear that it only works if you have a GPRS connection but I want it to work with WLAN.
Is there a way around this?
A Search on this forum didn’t reveal anything or I did something wrong to get it.
Cheers,
Drifter
hi, have my msn working via WLAN without any problems - what error msg's are you getting??
Hi,
It takes a wile before I get an error message and it looks like messenger is hanging.
After about 2 minutes it says "logon to msn messenger service failed because the service is not responding. Please try again later".
But if I use IE then I can log in.
Cheers,
Drifter
That could be because MSN is being typically slow - i quite often have the same problem. However, since enabling wireless G it has become more stable.
If you can get IE over wireless then i think you have a software / hardware problem - just a MS one
This can also happen if you do not have "Connects to Internet" checked in your work network setting. Check this and other Work / Internet list boxes and have a play ... it took me a while with the same problem but sorted it eventually.
Thanks for the tips but everything seems to be in order accept for MSN messenger.
If I check my firewall I can see that my wizard does connect to the internet.
My firewall logs says that it’s trying to connect to services.mobile.msn.com.
Hopefully it isn't the test rom I'm using

msn messenger

is anyone else having trouble connecting today/tonight?
it says that the service cannot be reached, my friend also tried to connect under his account and it said the same thing, it was working fine the other day.

"ghost" data connection

ive had this problem a few times on my titan, the top bar shows an idle data connection (i get push email from an exchange server) and when i try to use opera (or PIE, agile messenger, google maps, pocketping, remote desktop, even outlook) i get no data connection, the arrows turn white like its working but i can never make a connection to anything.
at first i thought it was DNS, and it just wasnt resolving the hostnames, but i cant ping or RDP to IP addresses either. it persists though a soft-reset too
last time this happened it was a few hours before i could get a data connection again, which is really annoying
i dont think the issue is with the phone though, as i can access the internet just fine via wifi, so im guessing there is little hope of being able to fix it on this end
im using DCDs 2.2.6 rom for sprint (but ive had the problem with previous 2.x roms too)

Msn messenger with data connection...

Hi. First of all, I have a uk sim-free X1 with t-mobile. My contract also includes web'n'walk which I selected so that I could use msn messenger and sites such as facebook anywhere I wanted without a wi-fi connection.
However, I've realised that my msn messenger will only connect via wi-fi and will not sign in if I'm using the data connection. This is strange as the data connection works fine for everything else, e.g whether updates, youtube, and opera browser.
I did search the past threads but didn't find an answer as most were about the other problem of not being able to use msn via wi-fi.
I'm hoping that there is an answer out there...Please help me. It's like the one thing that would make my phone almost perfect! Ty in advance.
That's weird! Because mine just connects with data connection and not via wi-fi.
Whenever I try to connect to msn via wi-fi, msn tells me that there is a connection problem :/
I get that same connection problem sign when i try via the data connection
I have the same problem - although I don't use msn that often - it still irritates me.
However, I discovered yesterday that fring works fine - if you install fring, you can use that to access msn - looks a little different, but works with a data connection.
Do you find your data connection to be slow - mine reminds me of the old dialup - I was expecting something more akin to broadband speeds
Good luck.

P.S. If you do find a solution, please post on here.
Yes it is quite slow...but still i would be very thankful to find a fix for this issue!
Mine used to only work over wifi, then suddenly started working over data connection too, not sure why.
The only thing I know I've had to change was to untick the proxy option for the Tmobile connection as with that on gmail wouldn't work, maybe that helps with MSN too?
Overall I've found Live messenger pretty poor, it's very slow, especially to scroll contacts.
I've tried Nimbuzz, that allows access to everything, even Facebook and MySpace.

Omg thanks for this...this is the solution. Just untick the proxy option and you can sign in to msn messenger over data connection Yay thanks so much!!!
