Is the camera of the XDAII fixed to its current capability? Can it be replaced or upgraded - through hardware or software upgrade so that it becomes a 2Megapixel camera?

it could be upgraded if you could find a cam with the same connectors
and that dident take up more space then the old one
and it would require working drivers and a new cam application to work
basicly it would most likely be troublesome if possible and it could cost more then buying a new pda with a better cam

Yep. The new 2.2 Beta version is the greatest ever. I can now use skype with WIFI or EDGE!! I can't believe it! way to go skype!
Problems loading to storage card
I have uninstalled v2.1 & tried to re-install this version. Keep getting an error that it will not install & to try another location (ie main memory).
Tried a soft re-set. Still no joy.
Anyone else managed to install on a memory card?
I have it on the memory card as it is around 5.5MB's

Update: removed all registry keys from previous skype version, soft reset, and then installed without problems.
Any news of Skype using the TYTN front Cam?
Have used the new version 2.2 today and it's nice but don't think it works with webcam yet.
Has anyone heard if Skye will produce a version that enables the front cam on tytn for video calls?

Hello,
Did you also get that message :"could not start Skype" then "couldn't find all the necessary files to start Skype. Please try to install Skype again. Skype will now quit."
If yes how did you remove all registry keys from previous Skype version ?
If it's not the case, anyone has any idea where the problem comes from ? The skype version is 2.2.00.20 (might be that there are some parts missing in it ?)

How is the lag time on GPRS or EDGE networks? Is it worth installing if you're rarely around a wifi point?
I installed it and it worked fine. Was amazed as the original needed a 300mhz processor and ofc ours only have 200.
Went straight on, and works identical to Skype on my computer.

The version is 2.2.0.20 and I just installed it off the skype website.
It was working fine for me before over GPRS now it won't connect for some reason.

I've installed "lowCPU" version on my Qtek 9100 SD card.
It starts fine, it works fine.
Seems to be much faster and/or better custommized then non "lowCPU" 2.1 version.
Certainly feels a little more developed than my previous version of Skype. Call quality seems to have increased. I like the Skype Today plugin also.
aww... if theres any kind of upgrade for lowCPU ppc's for VoIP programs like X-lite so i can use my VoIPstunt account...

How can I get it to route the sound through my earpiece, or my bluetooth headset, instead of going to the speakerphone? It echos badly on speakerphone, and everyone else can hear my conversations.

it works very well on echo123, since there are no echo cancellation issues, however in the real world the external loudspeaker=echo is simply a disaster...any suggestions on the use of the internal loudspeaker as in a normal telephone?

they are still working on fixing that, as of now that version only works with the external speaker.

I've just installed this skype on my Qtek 9100, all seems to work great but I cant hear anyone.
They can hear me fine but I hear nothing.
Any ideas as to what I could be doing wrong?
how much does it tax the CPU?
I noticed they have different versions of the same beta for different models.
The Hermes and the Universal are redirected to this page (High BETA)

Both bpages display the same version numbers and release dates. Infact unless you look at the URL you can't even tell it's a different file.
I tried downloading both. The Low CPU version is only 4.50 MB and teh High CPU version is 4.85 MB.
I keep wondering now if there is anything missing in the Low CPU version.
Can anybody shed some light on this???
Hey, am I right when I say that there is no video calling (3G) included? The videocall hardware button (the one with that phone hook and eye) doesn't do anything and on the onscreen phone keypad there's no such button anymore....
Ok, so what I read here and there is that Crossbow doesn't support the video call drivers...
When will these drivers be available? Will this just be drivers (CAB) or more likely an entire new ROM?
3G works fine (data/normal calls) but there is no driver to interface the camera in the front with the phone, so no video calling atm

Well, seems that we have to be patient.
Having Crossbow running for a few hours, tried everything and must say that I fell in love with it. Videocalling is the only problem I encountered so far.
Do you think we have to wait a long time for that to be supported and will this mean just a tiny CAB-file driver or a complete new ROM? Just installed everything and that's so much work.... Lazy me.

Does anyone know if there is any software out there that would allow us to make VOIP calls and use the front camera of the Atom Life? I just purchased the Life after over 2 years of using my trusty original Atom........I had hoped to be able to use the front camera for SKYPE type calls but it does not seem possible......also must say how crap the 64mb for RAM is, My originasl Atom was great in cpmparison to the Life which seems to leak RAM at every orifice.....

I managed to find a download from www.octro.com but it is in the Beta phase and the front camera does not work yet. but worth a play if you want this functionality. Also you can try www.imichat.com but that is not to support PPC only Symbian so far but the application looks better than Octro.

i just got a galaxy s for a test, i wanted to record via the tv out a presentation of the software layar wich si already installed.
i was surprised to get on the video recorder a message sayin that the tv out is stopped when an application is running.
can you guys pls try see if it works?
just need to know if it s just because the rom seems to be modded by orange, in this case it s just a rom issue.

everything works nicely but when you start the camera, tv out stop :'(
can somebody verify pls that the tv out is dropped once the camera is started?
