herald cid unlock - Wing, P4350 General

don't know if anyone noticed this or if i missed the post or what (i searched!) but heres what i think is a cidunlock from pdaviet.
HERALD-USPL-Beta3by POF
PS i'm still not even sure what a cid unlock is if anyone wants to fill me in.

Yes, technically it IS a cid-unlock.
However, it's still in beta and unless you're technoproficient, you probably shouldn't install.
Now to answer your question.
There are two kinds of locks :SIM and CID
Sim locks keep you locked to a certain network
CID locks prevent you from flashing a different rom
Both can be circumvented, but that takes time and hard work.
For heralds and wings, you can always use aserg's method for flashing, which is brilliantly simple, but you have to have an RUU to do it correctly.
The problem with this is that some Herald models *cough*XDA terra*cough* don't have an RUU, Heralds, like ALL ppcs, are CID-locked to that particular redistributor's RUU. This is where CID-unlocking comes in. If you can CID unlock, you can flash any rom you need, including other companies RUU.
Poor XDA terra people.

unlock herald
hi there!
i would like to know if was possible to flash this ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=366845) in my Herald with CID locked..
or,
if is not possible, i would like to know if there are some free way to make a CID unlock to my herald?
my herald have now the portuguese ROM (4.17.410.2 PTG and RADIO 02.94.90), that i had updated from wm5 Oficcial ROM.
thanks for your atenction, and i'm sorry for my bad english.. :S but it's not my native language and i don't practise a lot.. :S
Thanks,
Eagler

does your service provider provide a wm6 upgrade for you phone? If so, it is best to flash it first.
Once you have done so, check to see if your SPL is greater than 4. you can do so by entering bootloader by soft resetting and holding the camera key.
If it is indeed above 4, you have two solutions for a CID unlock.
One choice is USPL, which temporarily CID unlocks your phone.
The other is HardSPL, which permanentl CID unlocks your phone. Relocking it from HardSPL (if you have to send it in for service, for example) can be difficult.
In the future, please search before posting and do not resurrect threads this old. When this thread was first replied to, aserg's way was still the primary technique for flashing (just to give you an idea of how old this is)

Cingular 8125 I.Pl 2.25 unlocking help

Hello guys, can this Pocket PC from cingular be unlocked? I just got it.
I am not sure if i have all the tools and know how to unlock this fone so i will continue to read & wait for help. Thanks
Dishxpert
search this board for lokwiz and take it from there, the search function works, please use it.
I'm in the same boat as him. I've been thinking of CID unlocking my phone for awhile. I have the 2.25 spl/ipl as well with a 2.25.11 rom. And as far as i can tell from reading threads, lokiwiz does not cid unlock this rom.
edit: I have tried looking alot for a way to CID unlock my phone. I get alot of conflicting and confusing information. Some people say to just downgrade my rom to one wiht a 1.xx spl/ipl. Others tell me that that is impossible to do in the first place. I've tried looking and i cant find any rom that has a 1.xx spl/ipl that would even install on my CID locked wizard. If this is indeed the way i and the thread starter are supposed to do it, then can you point me in the direction of a downgraded rom that will work with a CID locked cingular phone? I would be very gratefull.
taking the time to read some threads you would find that downgrading to a 1.xx rom and then doing the cid unlock and sim unlock would fix your problem... some people that say this dont work may be referring to a G4 wizard, one who's IPL/SPL is 2.xx.0001. And they are right, this does not work on a G4, only the G3, which if you are lacking the .0001 at the end of your IPL/SPL then you have a G3... all of this info can be found from searching and reading
I did read from a few sites and am not new to forums. The instructions i saw said there is nothing out for I.P 2.21 and above unless u pay and use JAFWM.
Shogun, prob as a senior member u can shed some light as more ? will be asked in days to come or make a sticky with the truth.
BTW, i do have lokiwiz2o and have used it to unlock MDAIII but not sure what works on mine & dont want to cause it to crash. Speak if u have the 'right' truth.

please re-read my above post, it gives you instructions.. what i forgot to mention though was after you donwgrade to do the unlock, you will need to upgrade to an official rom that will have the updated bootloaders(IPL/SPL) before you can flash someone's cooked rom (and i only say that cause not all of us chefs include the updated IPL/SPL's so that someone with a G4 doesnt brick their phone)

I know i have a G3 device. Are you saying that all i have to do is downgrade to a 1.xx ipl/spl rom. Run lokiwiz 2b. And then i can go directly to a cooked rom because i do not have a g4 device? Speciffically i would like to troy out molskie's 30mb free rom. And possibly yours as well.

well yes kinda, i added a part below that, it said you may want to flash an official rom since most cooked roms dont include the updated IPL/SPL..
Hi Guys...im no expert, and im kinda a noob at this. But this is what I did with my Cingular 8125. I have a G3 phone, SIM unlocked onle IPL/SPL 2.26. I've updated it with a Cingular standard ROM. I realized my phone was NOT CID unlocked, so I decided to try this step for step http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=263116&highlight=wizard+backup the important part i believe is downgrading the ROM, also, make sure you unzip the lokizwiz file in the ROOT of the C:\ drive, then open a command prompt and run it from there (assuming your running Windows). After that, I upgraded with a Tmobile Standard ROM to upgrade the IPL and SPL back to 2.26, then I installed this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276700&highlight=cingular+8125 and it worked like a charm. Thats just from my personal experience, as I said im just a noob and not an expert. I hope that helps in some way.
My hats off to these people that create these custom ROM, THESE GUYS ARE GOOD ! ! !
Thanks to all the custom ROM makers out there.

Prophet novice, cid unlock wanted.

I have a prophet with ipl and spl showing 2.10.0001. I want to flash it to a better rom or one with an unlocked rom.
Anyone know where a rom is available which will work with this. I have tried a couple of shipped roms but it just fails and shows invalid vendor id. The rom for spl 2.15 which I tried is no good.
Anyone know how to cid unlock this model. Please help.
You don't need to unlock your CID for upgrade to a better ROM.
Just use http://rapidshare.com/files/22972927/RUU_Prophet_220734_2207114_024721_NVID.exe.html
and thereafter you can install your favorite WM5 or WM6 - if you want.
More information you'll find at Prophet upgrading forum.
CID Unlock
Thanks for replying, I will try this later.
I would like to unlock cid though as I have never favoured any type of lock on my phones. As it is my property I would prefer to have full control over it.
I will let you know how this no vendor rom attempt goes. Thanks.

You've a G4 device, so it's a little bit complicated to unlock it. Search the G4 forum for solutions.

CID unlock Confusion

Is calling or emailing in ATT to get a unlock code the same as CID unlocking? or would I need to hack my 8525 to CID unlock it so I can add Different ROMS???
When you instal HardSPL your device is CID unlocked. It means that you can flash any Rom to your device. However, it is still SIM locked. Fot that you need to go to the Hermes Upgrading Forum.

if all you want to do is add new roms, use HardSpl v7, its a sticky at the top of the hermes mobile 6 or hermes upgrading sub-forums.
it fools the program into thinking your super cid without actually being super cid.
anyone please correct me if i'm wrong.
I think this answerers my question and worry about just running my phone as is and upgrading later if I want.
I keep reading later 8525's are impossible to sim unlock once they have been turned on once, so I was leery of even running the phone as is... but now since I know I DON'T have to sim unlock it to flash roms then I'm not going to worry about the unchangeable radio rom.

Any ROM?

Hi at all!
Sorry but my english is not very good!
I want to know how I can flash any ROM on my Herald!?? It is not branded (original HTC)! I've read something about CID, can anybody tell me what this means?
Do I have to "unlock the CID" für flashing any ROM on my Herald?
CID lock, is a provider lock so you can not install another ROM on your phone. Look in the Herald thread for HARD-SPL.
But before hand, you have to know what your SPL and IPL is. Go into bootloader(press camera and softreset button and then relase only softreset button) You will get a 3 color display with numbers.
Those numbers should start with SPL/IPL 4 or 5! If you see like: 1.08.0000 eg. then you can't use this program till you upgrade to SPL/IPL 4 or 5.
You do NOT need to CID unlock because Herald users have a backway of flashing. Hard-SPL is a dangerous tool and not 100% compatible with ALL phones. Before using it, be aware that you may brick your device permanently. The other way is MUCH safer. Most of the posted ROMs here use that way, with the occassional (but not always successful while it IS safe) USPL.
Either way, make sure you have a copy of the stock RUU in hand before you begin.
Ok!
I want handle my Herald with this Touch "Style"! And I want that my Herald can handle with micro sdhc cards!
What is the most "risk free" possibility? I dont want to kill my Herald!
My english is not very good, so that I can not read and understand every post!

Any of the ROMs since they all come with "safe" ways to flash. HardSPL is done seperately.
Is it right, that I can flashing any ROM on my Herald?
Do I need to "unlock" my Herald, before this can be done?
On which way can I "unlock" my Herald?
Sorry but I'm a Newbie!!!!
You don't need to unlock anything. You can use any HERALD ROM. There's a thread I created around here that has instructions. Look for it under the Herald Mobile 6 forum and look for "Official flash" thread by ivanmmj.
Ok, thanks man!
I read this post from you http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=349701
What the F*** is Aserg's Policies??? ;-)
Sorry, that I didn't understand you, but I'm VERY STUPID!
Good luck flashing!!!!

Are all Polaris CID-locked?

Seeing how Bepe's WM6.1 ROM requires HardSPL, does this mean all Polaris are CID locked?
Are there any issues when upgrading (like IPL/SPL problems on G3 vs G4 Wizards) that I should be aware of?
Thinking about getting a Polaris but just want to see what I'm getting myself into first. I personally have a G3 Wizard so I never really had to worry as much about bricking my phone.
If not all Polaris are CID locked, is there a way to tell if it is on the spot?
Also have some general questions on purchasing in the General Polaris forum here (600 for a LNIB Polaris Too good to be true?)
Polaris is not CID locked, basically.
If you buy a Polaris marked by a carrier (like O2 or Telecom) that should be CID locked, but where's the problem again? We have CID unlocker!

This is not true... Polaris is not SIM locked, basically.
But... all devices are CID-locked, until you use hard-SPL of course!

A few of us fortunate ones were able to get a pre-release Polaris which were not CID locked, but this was very limited quantities shipped to distributors for initial evaluations. The way to tell on the spot, as per your original questin is to invoke bootloader and read the SPL. Mine came with a MFG SPL, not a fixed version. It is highly unlikely that any unit bought from general retail woul be such a device, but that is how you would check it.
Excuse me mates, but he is asking about CID locked, not SIM locked.
CID = Carrier ID that means that if the phone is CID locked it is linked to a Carrier (ie Vodafone, Orange, etc etc) and you can use only that carrier's SIM
I bought my Polaris from Mediamarkt (they have tons of) and is NOT linked to any carrier (i can put whatever SIM form whatever carrier in it) so is CID unlocked.
We r saying the same things mates. I call CID what u call SIM.
Farewell

So basically, what's the difference between CID-Unlocker and Sim-Unlocker, because we have thoses 2 here?
Ther eis no difference, they r the same.
Really do we have a CID and a SIM unlocker?
I bet we have only 1
This is all utter bull****!
CID lock is completely different to a SIM lock. All devices coming from HTC are CID locked to prevent you from loading a non-genuine ROM onto the device. SIM lock has nothing to do with CID lock bud. My orbit 2 is CID but not SIM locked, it's not connected. But there are Polaris out there (no orbits/dopods but Touch Cruises) which are sold branded and SIM locked and of course, CID locked.
SIM is NOT the same as CID. It never was and will never be.

There are devices which dont feature a SIM lock, they work with all SIMs out there on all networks. But they all are CID locked. Those devices can be unlocked to eat custom ROMs using the HardSPL. The HardSPL skips the check the original loader does when you try to load a ROM onto the device.
But there are devices which are supposed to be locked to the carrier you bought it from. Very much like the American iPhone: it's (well, it should be ) tied to AT&T and doesnt eat custom SIM cards. For that case Olipro created the second unlocker available, is a combined solution. Its the HardSPL (letting you flash a custom ROM) with a SIM-unlocker (which will let you use any SIM) strapped on top. Since I have a CID locked only device, I didnt look into the unlocker that deeply, but I don't even know if it features the function to leave the SPL alone and only SIM-unlock your device... But, to be brutally honest, who around xda-dev is interested in that

I was a minute ahead to post the link to the explanations in the WIKI for wonderjuy (sorry, don't take it personal)
Oh no, my post wasnt meant in any offending way. But I'm quite sorry, its kind of hard to nicely explain it after so many very determined wrong statements of wonderjuy. But yeah, don't take it personal and the correct information can be found in the WIKI.
Seems that I used wrong words - so please:
Accept my apologize if I offended somebody!
