GPRS Connection - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam General

Hi ,
My Hermes somehow gets automatically connected itself on GPRS Networking every certain time, What setting do I have to change to prevent it from happening and connect manually?

Use this. Its called NoData.
Btw, did you even try searching? Its HIGHLY recommended around here before posting.

Thanks very much !!!!
But will this application affect connectivity to GPRS when required?

GPRS keeps auto connecting, chowing battery

I have SPB pocket plus on my prophet (latest dopod rom)...
Is it possible to make it that I have to manually connect GPRS (other than going via control panel), other than letting it connect whenever it damnwell pleases? It eats the battery alive with GPRS simply staying on and idle like that!
Regarding SPB, is it possible to put an icon to connect to a SPECIFIC GPRS connection in there? With SPB gprs monitor, there is an icon, yes, but it only connects to the DEFAULT gprs connection. Also, once you click disconnect, it simply reconnects again in 20sec for some reason.
Thx

i don't know of anything allowing a quick shortcut to connect/dc your GPRS, but what i've done is set my preferred networks to My ISP (which is one of the default profiles, IIRC) and My Work Network. this way, the GPRS _never_ connects, unless i specifically, and deliberately, manually connect. i very rarely require GPRS (i always use wireless networks - they're abundant here in germany), so by taking the GPRS profile out of my preferred networks, i don't have to worry about it connecting without my knowledge, clocking up crazy costs. crazy!
my question to you, though, is what is trying to connect so frequently? have you set your email accounts to check for new mail every few minutes? i'd have a look at your settings and make sure.
other than that, i can't think of much else...

(sorry, can't resisit being stereotypically south african, given the chance...)
lol, "ja swaer"
i've also made a dummy connection that doesnt work, so GPRS doesnt auto connect now unless i manually connect, but it's a schlepp to do it everytime...
If u do search guys maybe u can find everything u want,
However;
try this

ask before connecting ?

Is there a way to make GPRS connection "ask before connecting" ?
Currently, I have wifi connections connecting to internet and 2 GPRS connections which I like to use when there is no wifi.
However, I don't want it to use GPRS unless I want. So I would like to use "ask before connecting" if there is such an option.
How can I achieve this ?
Also, sometimes some applications (Msn Live, Hotmail) connect to GPRS when there is already wifi reaching to Internet.
How can I change this behaviour ?
(I don't want to use GPRS if I'm connected through wifi)
Hi
I hear good things about Danielherrero's bandswitch app. This is a long thread and I think there are revisions along the way so best read through a sample of the pages:

hi mike,
are you sure that application is related to my problem ?
I've read first 6 pages of it and couldn't understand it...

GPRS acceptance before connecting?

SInce GPRS cost 15sek per mb here it is quite costly to accidently turn on the function. Is there any way to for software to ask for permission instead of activate the gprs automatically? Or that the gprs connection must be activace manualy before a connection can be established by the software?

Click to collapse
This part can be easily solved: Go to the Advanced tab in Connections, and in the first list select 'my work network'.
So I have to change it to back GPRS each time I want to use it?
i do so, prankie, even if it is a bit annoying...
GPRS
Hi You need this program MoDaCo_NoData.CAB it`s turn on or turn off the connection GPRS.
I found this on Modaco.com
http://www.modaco.com/content/Pocket-PC-Software/246171/New-FREE-Utility/
I agree, MoDaCo_NoData.CAB is the best tool at the moment to switch the data connection on/off,

[REQ] Application for no automatic internet connection?

Hi boy, I've a problem.
With my diamond if i connect with wifi and then if I lost the signal the htc connect automatically with the umts/gprs ecc..
Is possibile to enable the internet connection manually?
I think to create a false connection (es.0000) so if it try to connect automatically with that i don't worry that can go down my money!
Could somebody create a simply application for enable&disable this connection or somebody know if exist a similar application?
Thanks a lot, in italy internet connection cost too much and i'd like to use it only for short time!
Do a search...
you can do a search on the forum...there have few software can disable the internet or wap connection....
Or you can use the Advance Config to disable it......so it won't auto connect..
Find Modaco Nodata, Great!!

Thats wierd..I have a Atom Pure, HTC Polaris and now a second diamond but never come across that..
Did u check ur Connection setting in >> Settings>Connections>Advance>Click on the Select Networks Dialog box>From the drop down list select My Work Network or whatever u have set ur Wifi connection on.
Windows is build that way it will select the appropriate connection even when no Wifi is found, it will open up an error box saying connection timed out or something..
Maybe I'm wrong but hay its worth a try mate

This is going to sound stupid, but I am stumped...

I am sorry if this turns out to be a stupid/obvious question, but right now I just cannot figure this out! So apologies in advance...
I have a regular data plan associated with my phone, so when I am out and about, I can access the web without problems. At home, the phone will connect either to my own WiFi hotspot (secured) or to my neighbour's (unsecured), and all continues to be well.
Now, while I am at work, I would like the phone to also connect to my office's hotspot, which it does without problems. However, since this connection requires the use of a proxy to connect to the web, I do not get anywhere.
How do I associate the use of a proxy to a specific WiFi profile/connection, and not to the others which are also configured on the phone?
Also, is there a way to tell the phone to give priority to the WiFi connection when available over the 3g connection, or is this done automatically?
TIA!
It's not stupid, there's no separate proxy setting for each Wi-Fi network, just the general "Internet/Work" thingie, but even that wouldn't help because many programs would ignore it (just like it will happen on "big" Windows, by the way - not all programs use IE settings).
So the only workaround I know is to set up your proxy in Opera and turn it on and off manually each time you change networks.
WiFi profiles
Solution is application called WiFi profiles. You can define settings for every wireless network that you use
Thank you very much to both!
I will look into the WiFi Profiles app...
