So while in wmp, tap menu/open file/ does storage card show up in the list? If so, after tapping storage card, does the folder holding your songs show up? If it does show up, don't worry about updating the library, queue up instead, see if it works doing this. More info would help.

If I remember right, I think you need to delete the WMDRM folder and maybe the MSMETADATA files from your card and then reset your phone and then update the playlist again in WMP. To be safe though, back up both of those files to your computer before deleting them.

It's all good man, we all have to start somewhere chuck it in the USB cradle or plug in the USB cable. You will need Microsoft Active
Sync to detect and back up files from the phone.
Activesync can be downloaded here: http://go.microsoft.com/?linkid=6257291

I take it that you just want to hook it up thru the USB cable? I think thats cool that it will play songs from the Ipod. I'm gonna have to grab my sons nano when I get home and try this out. Did you have to do anything special to get this to work?

I have had this problem on my mda. I had a newsreader that I was storing the newsfeeds to the miniSD card and displaying on the today screen. Also I have batterystatus running and displaying the additional information which includes the current available size of the miniSD card. In order to get WM5torage to work I have to remove the batterystatus from displaying on the today screen, soft reset and then run WM5torage. I removed the newsfeed program as I did not use it all that much. The programs do not show as running programs, but are actually running and accessing the miniSD card for information. There may be similar items "running" on your system.

Change all 3 Default Keyboard Slider Sounds on the HTC T-Mobile Wing

replace all 3 sounds
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is a zip file to replace all 3 default sounds on your wing. Just unzip, copy and paste these into the window directory on your phone thru ActiveSync and replace the default sounds.
You can rename all three
HKLM\Software\HTC\SlidingSound......
0 = change to "Star Trek Door"
1 = change to "Whistle"
2 = change to "Transformers"
Enjoy !!!!!!
hi i tried this and its giving me an error saying make sure u have enough memory or its not overwrite protection or something like? iam not sure wat iam doin wrong can u help please
not sure
I tested these sounds on my phone. Just unzip, copy, then paste them into your windows directory on your wing. It should just ask you if you want to overwrite the ones already there.
If you are having Memory problems maybe you change your Pagepool size to 6.
Memmaid is also a really good program to free up memory or manage your memory.
try this
Try to copy and paste each sound into windows one at a time instead of all 3.

if it's an issue of write protection try using a different file explorer like TC to change the permissions of that file. Then rename it so the file names are the same and it should allow you to replace the one in the windows folder with this edited one.

There should be a box you uncheck in settings/sliding keyboard.
Found this new one -- made it my third one
This one is really cool. When you open your keyboard you hear a lock and load of a gun. Close it and it fires a gunshot. Its funny.
I've found the way to add the sounds instead of overwrite them. Here the registry changes:
Code:
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SlidingSound]
"ActiveSlidingSound"=dword:00000003
"SlidingSoundEffect"=dword:00000001
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SlidingSound\4]
"out"="Tr_out.wav"
"in"="Tr_in.wav"
@="Transformers"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SlidingSound\3]
"out"="Slider0_out.wav"
"in"="Slider0_in.wav"
@="Star Trek"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SlidingSound\2]
@="Xylophone"
"out"="2_out.wav"
"in"="2_in.wav"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SlidingSound\1]
@="Piano"
"out"="1_out.wav"
"in"="1_in.wav"
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SlidingSound\0]
@="Wind Chimes"
"out"="0_out.wav"
"in"="0_in.wav"
0,1 and 2 were the original sounds. I added 3 and 4...
This works on a Herald with Touch IT...
Gentlemen,
I was successful at tweaking the registry and adding a folder to use the transformer sound but when I add my own wav sound, it does not work. Any info ????
it works fine love the gun one THANKS
Still cant get it
Can someone please give me some more in depth instructions? I cant find the folder to save the sounds to. I dont know how to make it copy to the correct folder when I sync. Any help?

Are you using Windows Vista to Sync Up to your phone?
(Vista hides the windows folder on your phone)
No im using Xp with SP2. I know reading the manual would have prolly helped in all this, but for now Im just concerned with the slider sounds. So if anyone has the time and patience to give me a bit of a dumbed down short walk thru to either sync the wavs for the slider sound, or to copy the files into the phone from SD card that would be great.
Thanks for the reply and any other help I can get.

So with this new activesync are there just more options for the sync? Does it open up a sounds, or slider sounds file? I also keep gettin an error msg when try to download it. It is supost to be run on my pc and not the wing correct? Isnt there an easier way to copy the modified sounds from my SD card straight to a folder? And where is the directory....I cant seem to find it.
Thanks

Password recovery?

Not sure if this is the right place, but I saw "Hacking" and thought "This must be it."
Anyway, I just fixed a Herald (TMobile Wing) with a broken LCD - now that I can see it again, it's saying that there's a password on it. The owner (my wife's friend) doesn't remember it, and has pictures on the phone of her kid that she would REALLY like to avoid losing if possible.
Is there any way to recover the password on these things? Obviously, a hard reset is not going to be good, since that'll destroy everything. I just need to find a way to get her back in so she can get her pics and address book off of the phone.
Any help would be greatly appreciated...if this is the wrong forum, please let me know and I'll move my post.
Thanks!
- M
As far as I can remember, a password won't lock down active sync connections so you could use active sync, copy all the files across and then hard reset.
Or possibly, set up a little application that copies all the files from My Documents to a storage card where they can be read by something else.

No - I have one I can use, though - it's just never been IN the phone before....
My idea is to use a program to copy all the files from the My Documents folder accross to a storage card. This should be possible because the program that watches for the storage card to be inserted can start a process that can then copy the files. I have seen a program that does the copying somewhere but I can't remember where...

Audio Manager Playlists- Where Located??

Hello all,
Long time fan first time caller
Can anyone tell me where the playlist you save with the HTC music player on the home screen tabs is located? Is it on storage card or phone itself? What folder / location?
Thanks in advance team.
You can find the playlists in Application Data/HTC/AudioManager_Eng/Playlists.

Thanks for this thread, I've been wondering the same thing myself. I'm having a slight problem though. I've made a custom playlist from some tracks on the phone but the folder you've listed is empty. I checked if maybe it was a hidden file but but there is no playlist in there.I've had to do a few hard resets recently and it's a real bugger having to make a new playlist every time! If anyone can give a definitive answer as to where I can find the custom playlist that would be great, or am I doing something wrong? Any help would be very helpful.
Thanks in advance
Solved... kida
Hi and thanks for your reply maximus1111.
I have a solution, but its not idea.
The playlist data is stored in Application Data/HTC/AudioManager_Eng/Playlists
If you look in the playlists folder it appears empty but its there.
If you go into the audiomanager folder there are two files in there. Copy them and go to your storage card. Make a folder- call it what ever you want (eg HTC Playlist) and paste the two files in there.
If you lose your playlists in the device for some reason you can copy the files back from your storage card to the phone and you will have your playlists back.
If you want to delete the playlist in your phone and use the ones in your storage card, soft reset the devic. When it starts up make sure you do not open the HTC Music application (very important or wont work). Using file manager go to audiomanager in the phone and delete the two files. Then paste the ones from your storage card there and it will work.
Less than ideal and a bit of mucking around, but I have confirmed it works with my HTC HD2.
Thanks everyone. This is a great forum.

hi, same here, no playlist in folder. i copied the audiomanager_eng.vol to my pc. when i look at it with a hexeditor, i see the names and path (eg. ZPlay \Application Data\HTC\AudioManager_Eng\playlists\ZPlay) in the file. also i found all information about the mp3 files i have added to playlists (eg. \Storage Card\Audio\Music\ACDC - Backtracks - 08 - Snake Eye.mp3 Snake Eye). so i think htc stores everything in that file.
i think thats a good example how htc developers are ticking, instead of keeping it simple they make it as complicated as possible... spilling all the data the user have created all over the complete device. if i just want to save my settings i have to run around between a dozend different places on my hd2.

I know it sounds a bit wacky, but tried it twice and worked both times when I followed the procedure. As to why it works is above my limited intelligence.

[TIP update] workaround for loadtime of HTC audio player library

A problem with the HTC audioplayer is that it rebuilds the whole library when you tap the music tab after a soft-reset. With a giant collection of music-files this isn't funny anymore You will have to wait for at least 1 minute until you can select a artist, album or song from the library.
A elegant workaround, although not a direct solution for the problem, is to rebuild the library automatically after a softreset and not to trigger it by the selection of the music tab. This can save a lot of time, because (in most cases) the library will be ready by the time you decide to play some music after a soft reset. For me that's enough...
(Still this will not help you very much when you immediatelyafter a soft-reset want to select something from the music library)
Now, to trigger the rebuilding of the library at start-up all one has to do is to place a shortcut to the AudioManager_eng.exe in the startup folder in the windows directory. You can do this yourself or you can use the cab that is attached to this post.
UPDATE:
added a cab that triggers a music library rebuild when the storage card is inserted (or what's the same, when you unplug the device from a "disk drive" connection with the pc)
If the cab doesn't work. Just unzip the attached zip file to the folder "2577" on your storage card. (If the folder isn't there you have to create it yourself)
Nice one - goes some way to avoiding that delay when you first want to use the music player.
Thanks mate. will gie it a try.
I dont really have that many songs bt i still hate the wait!

Nah, the worst is when you accidentally tap the music.
It just freezes. Freaking agrovating!
Updated the first post with a little cab that rebuilds the music lib when a storage card is inserted.

Hi, uninstalling the cab files will remove the files that were installed.
(if you want to be sure, you can do it manually by deleting the shortcut to audiomanager_eng.exe in the windows/startup directory and/or deleting the files mortscript.exe autorun.exe and autorun.mscr from the directory 2577 on your storage card)
To force a fresh indexing of your music files, try to delete the AudioManager_Eng.vol file in the directory Application Data/HTC/AudioManager_Eng
it's a hidden file so you need to instruct file explorer to display hidden files.
BTW as a side note, your problem hasn't anything to do with the automatic indexing at startup. It's a general problem that sometimes occur with the music player. If it occurs use the above method...
Oh, i've forgotten about uninstalling
Thank you!
here is the final solution
