I'm having some situation here... This Hermes is causing TV Interference... not only on my TV, but also with my TV input card on my PC. It just happens at data transfer.
Weird? Any suggestions?
I had radio 1.48 and now 1.51... and always the same issue...
HELP!
All mobile phone causes interference on the TV signal, and most analog signals. There is nothing you can do about it.
But this are not some little lines on the TV... i'm talking about a high pitched noise on the TV or computer... the whole screen flickers...
I've had mobiles for the last 15 years and this is the first time I've seen something like this. And like I said, it's just when sending or receiving data.
I think this is weird... I'm gonna check with a Mogul that my g/f has to see if the same thing happens...

It probably wont happen with the Mogul since that's on Sprint's network which is PCS - the Hermes is a GSM phone which is associated with the analog signal interference (It almost sounds like a galloping drum beat right before an incoming call de-dadade-dadade) - you will note though, if the phone is connected to a 3G signal, you will not have this problem! Your best bet is to place the phone with good distance away from speakers and such to avoid. I also find that for some reason, it's slightly less prone to happen with my phone if I put it screen down.
yeah, i'm hoping for a solution to this annoying problem too.
I've had the same thing going on with the last 5 Cingular/AT&T phones I've had. I kinda like it, I know when the phone is ringing before it actually rings.
heh, yeah, i also did find that beneficial. it kinda gave me a feeling of clairvoyancy -but i still hate it and need a fix. i have to turn off my comp speakers at night and my port speakers in my car that i use for my podcasts when im in a call or in a data session.
on a friend's tv, interferences happens when we enable the blutooth and they stops when we disable it.
mine is a m3100 and his is a m3000. both cause this problem on HIS TV but not on mine or other tv we tested. bad luck

Hiya Group!
Been lurking for two weeks know.
I'm a semi old geezer who decided to get myself a Tytn.
Checked out the BT620 on various places and everyone seemed happy with it, that is until I got myself a pair.
Problems started right out of the box. Skipping madly. You all know that story. Strange, I didn't see anything about that before I got my pair.
Anyway, I was major disappointed and turned my focus to my fresh 2GB mSD card. Installed an insane amount of apps (not my normal standard) and fiddled around in the settings etc. I came to a point where I realized I probably have to start fresh and be a bit more careful about what to install. 5-6 resets a day is just silly. Agree?
So, just a few minutes ago I decided to try out a simple phone call with the Jabras to Girlfriend (you'll know that has to be done every night or else....) Voice call works. Sound is fine and BT keeps working even with two walls (Swedish sturdy brick ones) between phone and headpiece.
..and just for fun, with no real expectations of having a good experience I fire up PocketMusic with a rather good Anthems of House collection in the playlist. AND IT IS WORKING!!!!
I figger I've ****ed up pretty much everything when it comes to having a usable system and i honestly cant tell you why the hell it is working know.
(Right know one hour of listening and just two short skips)
I'm old enough to realize these things happens now and then. The older I get the more now than then actually.
So what now? The Big Reset probably pushes me back to where I started. I reckon that, as long as I have the two devices connected they will stay put and in a good working order.
For now, I am a happy customer.
This became a rather lengthy report of nothing really.
Cheers

Was one of the gazillion apps you installed the ITaskmgr by any chance?
WOW, maybe it was the hypno amd grey goose keeping me afloat through this one I dont know. Anyways, i have the jabra bt800 which I use for normal everyday calls and then when at work I use the plantronics 590a to switch between music and phone calls, now although I use the the bluetooth adapter that is included with the headset with my sirius unit more than I do with mp3's on my tytn I have used my tytns A2DP flawlessly so I dont know if there is a difference between the htc and dopod models or not but I kinda hope i left you as clueless about my answer as you left your question!
Nope, no ITaskmgr.
"...I kinda hope i left you as clueless about my answer as you left your question!"
Anyway, everything seems to back to normal now. Head phones don't even connect properly. And that I can, in a way, understand.
///j
I dont know why I asumed you haad a dopod model but none the less I would not settle for stereo headsets not working properly. Like I mentioned before, the plantronics work great for me and worked right out the box on voice and music. Pricegrabber normally finds these items at 30-50% off MSRP.
Recently me and my friend got kicked out of the house and into the garage so our wives could talk freely... About us pretty much, and while normally we love getting away from them for a while I was wondering if an app could be made to turn on airplane mode (so the phone doesnt start making noise), activate the recorder (so they cant say I didnt say that) and reroute all noise picked up by the mic to the bluetooth headset (for instant gratification). And while some may say THIS IS AN INVASION OF PRIVACY! , I say they have an eavesdropping machine they sell on tv every day I see commercials for it all the time. Any one else interested in this?
Then make it so you can relay the camera to a computer so you can watch it also on your laptop. LOLOL
not a bad idea but real time uploading is hard to get in non 3g areas...lol, this can be done I just dont know how, wish I did.
Why not just install a voice recorder and listen back afterwards? That's already available.
Also, Bluetooth may not have the range for the headset to work properly.
I have voice recorder, I was thinking this could be used in a few different situations besides mine of course and its not life or death just giving an idea to a bored programmer. well my bluetooth actually works from 30 feet or about 22 with 2 walls in between, it gets crackly after that.
You know i alway wanted to make a program that could enable 2 devices to make video conferencing using Bluetooth, (main purpose was real time cheating in exams) Lol.
I started it as j2me learning project, .. but eventually dumbed it cuz i found that studying is much easier and less time consuming Lol.
Note: I am not 100% sure that my problem is related to tethering. This is simply a hypothesis based on a limited amount of data. My problem could be related to any number of things.
That being said, I have experienced very poor call quality after extended periods of tethering, possibly related to my phone overheating. My phone usually runs anywhere from 90-95F as reported by CurveFish's BatteryLife app. After extended periods of tethering, I frequently go from 105-113F. On several occasions, friends have reported very poor voice quality. They say I keep "cutting out," as in the quality is fine, then it fades out to a very low volume. I have only had this complaint after extended periods of tethering.
Once again, the two could be completely unrelated. It could be a total coincidence. Perhaps I'm having issues with T-Mobile's network, or there is a problem with my phone. I'm not sure yet. I'm posting this to see if other's have had similar issues so I can begin to properly diagnose my problem.
Youre not tethered while talking on the phone though right?

Yes, sometimes. This is with 3g, which as far as I know, should be able to handle it. It was never a problem on my G1.
I have also had issues immediately after I stop tethering.
I mean Im sure if its while youre tethered of course it could interfere thats a lot of processing and your connections only so fast depending on what youre doin on your comp you could be maxin it out. Right after I dont know unless its still trying to send packets or something. Ive never tried this but I will when I get a chance, i have 2 lines so I can call myself and see what it sounds like on both ends.
Has anyone else had this issue? I'm starting to think it's completely unrelated to tethering and I think I may have simply gotten a defective phone. I cannot describe how frustrating it is for people to constantly say "Hello, Hello?" or ask me if I have them on speakerphone. I'm constantly told that I cannot be heard.
I just spent $560 for a neat little mobile device that doesn't work as a PHONE.
I apologize in advance if this is a repeat post in any way. I have searched a lot through the forums and didn't really find the answers I needed. It's very possible I missed them, with the millions of posts, so I thought I might make a post of my own.
I got my Nexus 4 a couple days ago and I'm facing the following problems:
1. Battery drain is ridiculous. I'm getting 12 hours with fairly light usage (I don't do any gaming), but everything (except Bluetooth) turned on
2. My charger makes a weird humming noise when the phone is not plugged in
3. When I'm on a call, I lose data 90% of the time, and I constantly lose service in places I have never had any problems
4. If I have my phone plugged into my car via aux cable, phone calls sound funny. It sounds like the person is standing ten feet away form their phone.
5. My earpiece has a weird noise to it
6. If I tap the phone on top, it sounds like something is lose in there
7. I can't run a Speedtest for the life of me, and I can't find APN settings that fix that for me
Is anybody else facing these problems? I'm afraid my device is faulty, but I don't want to wait 2 months to get a replacement...
Everyone of your " problems" has its own thread. I'd point you in the right direction for a few of them, but I'm busy at work. I just figured i'd let you know to search and you'll find what you're looking for

nope. perfectly fine here
1. may GPS and other background syncing is causing the problem?
2. No sound here.
3. You shouldnt lose data while on call...you should be able to call and have data at the same time
4. Havent tried since the base of the aux is too big to fit
5. the earpiece is known to have static/buzzing noise if your talking about that
6. most probably its the camera. its been noted that if you place your phone down (back first) it rattles...that is due to the camera. If you shake it, then its another metal piece inside that rattle. i have both, though it rattles, i dun "feel" any loose parts
7. what carrier are u using for apn?
can you define "searched a lot?"
On 3 separate random occasions now. I have set my phone down for the nite. Plugged in the charger and was I was watching TV or reading heard voices comming from my phone. When I leaned over and listened it sounded like audio from a pickup truck ad (on the 2nd occasion) and as soon as unlocked the phone the audio stops. The screen is completely off when this occurs and there as no apps open when I unlock the phone. The phone was locked for at least 30 min on the last occurrence. I have scanned my phone with malwarebytes & avast both turn up nothing.
Has anyone else experienced anything like this ???
TLDR:
Screen off/locked
Charging
Strange Audio plays
Unlock phone nothing running (no youtube or games open)
Audio Stops
WTF??? :silly:
Your charger is generating radio interference that the S4 is picking up when charging. It's not something to worry about.

Thanks for the hypotheses but I very much doubt that is the case. Radio reception in the room I was in is very weak as it is below ground level. I am pretty sure on one occurrence the phone may have not even been plugged in at all. The audio is clear(not static-y) but at a low volume since i usually have the ringer low in the evenings, and it was definitely playing over the devices speakers.
You misunderstand. This is not like tuning in a radio. Your charger was generating the noise and the S4 picked it up due to being close to the charger. Try a different charger and see if you get the noise again.

I have been using an Anker 40W 5 port charger for almost a year and this has never been an issue. There is no way that it was this charger. It is not a some cheap clone either with some copper wound around a piece of iron acting as a transformer/ Antenna. The USB cables are all HQ with shielding as well. It was definitely an audio advertisement file playing not broadcast radio.
My question is more is there some malware/adware that could have been piggy backed in with a game or app?
Just wondering if anyone else has encountered this before?
If you get your apps from outside the established stores like Google Play or Amazon Underground you shouldn't have any malware. From outside the stores, you may very likely have gotten something. You'll need to go through your apps though one by one, and find out which one is generating this.

I only install from Google Play store or Amazon. But some apps that do pass approval of Google still might have aggressive advertising cookies or popups through their adverts built into the app.
I should also clarify that by DISTURBING Sounds, I meant that the phone is 'off' and on the table and then suddenly I hear a voice coming from the phone.
I found the experience disturbing. Firstly because it was late at night and was alone then heard an unannounced voice (not a ring tone or a beep).
Then I began to worry my phone was infected or hacked by something or someone.
What would be worst is if I was just straight up having an auditory hallucination or my home was haunted by a truck salesman. But I am 99.99% certain it was the phone playing the audio.
It would be great if there was a simple explanation like 'oh yeah sometimes in a game when you watch a video to get a free bonus powerup sometimes the video player crashes but the ad is still in memory and once in a blue moon the video unfreezes long after you closed the app and begins to play even though the screen is locked.'
But I guess this has not happed to anyone else.
[SOLVED]
I found the culprit!!!
I had this app [My Fitness Pal] installed on my phone and found several other users complaining in this forum.
https://community.myfitnesspal.com/...tarts-playing-when-app-is-in-background-scary
This is bullcrap. I can understand having a banner in app. I can understand popups or videos that play while you are in the app.
But playing audio when you are not using the phone is MALWARE.
I am boycotting this company and all others who think this kind of intrusive advertising is in any way acceptable.
Take the advice given on that page and flag the app as inappropriate in the Play Store.
