Some days ago I did the updgrade from Windows 2003SE to WM6.
When I used my BT in Windows 2003SE I always had a crackling noise, and I was kind of hoping that the update to WM6 would fix it...
For me it did not :/
Anyway. Withing 2003SE you could see what "drivers" and version the BT was(Start > Settings > Connections > Bluetooth > About > Advanced) , but for some reason "my?" WM6 version does not have the About and Advanced tab anymore..
Anyone here who might know how to see the BT version nr?
That's a good one, i'm wondering myself. The "about" box was on Broadcomm/Widcomm stack, this is MS; maybe from some file's properties, as BTXXX.dll?...
I wonder too. In this "mgrunk"talks about the "about"I haven't got an about in WM6.0 Broadcom does. So wher do we get the right broadcom bt stuff?

After installing a bunch of cabs - I did end up w/ 2 BT icons on the Connection Page - the 2nd icon had an about page - but since my hard reset - the second icon is gone and there isn't any about page now.

I'm trying to use my XDA2 to provide Internet Access (GPRS) via BT to my portable PC.
I'm using my PCs built-in Bluetooth-module (running on WIDCOMM 1.4.1 Build 6)
I have no problem synchronizing my XDA2 with Outlook using BT (since this is a connection initiated by the XDA2) but if I "browse" the services on my XDA2 from my PC I only get OBEX Object Push.
I know from previous occations that you should be able to see Serial Ports etc.
My XDA2 is running on the following version:
R: 1.06.01
G: 1337.16
D: 1.60.00WWE
And Pocket Bluetooth Tools
Can anyone tell me what to look for?

You can try using the XDA II in the wireless modem mode... See your program files for this application. Works for me.
There's your problem... You need to uninstall Pocket Bluetooth Tools; it removes your SSA service (which you need for BT Wireless Modem)
Hmm I also do use the Bluetooth Tools so I doubt you need to remove this very handy app. ?

Well, I had to hard-reset my PDA in order to remove Pocket Bluetooth Tools (PBT), so I don't know if it was the hard-reset or PBT that did the works, but now I get the SSA profile and can connect to it without any problems.
Unfortunatly I lost the option to sync my PDA via Bluetooth, since Active Sync cant find any ports. So I'll give PBT another try, otherwise I'll just use the FIR-port to sync.

What ROM you running? With the 1.72, you have the options of enablign outgoing and incoming COM ports in the settings menu (Start --> Settings --> Bluetooth Settings)
Before installing Bluetooth Tools, I've got: Serial, SSA, Object Push, and one more.
After installing: I've only got Serial and the other one that I cannot remember.

For me, it was the Bluetooth Tools that was holding me back. I've emailed the author to see whether he can add the SSA port.

Well, first of all, I was thrilled to find out that I no longer have to start the Wireless Modem-app to use the GPRS-connection on my laptop. Apperantly a modem-emulator runs in the background, so my XDA2 stays fully functional while its forwarding GPRS traffic. (Though I think it's strange that theres no indication what-so-ever that the GPRS is in use - normally you get a different icon at the antenna)
Anyways, I installed the latest version af Pocket Bluetooth Tools (PBT). And the SSA-profile was still there and working. Then I paired my laptop using the ActiveSync profile in PBT - and wupti: Both the GPRS "dial-through"/SSA and ActiveSync is working - at the same time.
Now, all thats left is to pair it with my BT GPS receiver. Can't do it at moment since it's at home - I don't expect any problems with it though. Usually works without problems.

I guess it's possible that Pocket Bluetooth is conflicting with 1.72
I know for a fact, that ver. 1.1.0.0 is conflicting with 1.72 - my friend tried to use this.
He then installed a previous version of PBT, but still can't see the SSA-profile, but the ActiveSync profile now works.
He will try to uninstall PBT and see if the SSA appears.
oh okay... I might have to downgrade to 1.60...
What's the main difference between 1.60 and 1.72?

I just talked to my friend again. Seems I misunderstood him the first time. The reason he uses an older version of PBT is that with the new version his headset-profile is not supported.
Apparantly the biggest advantage of the 1.70 is the improved battery lifetime. He says he only charges his battery twice as often now. I'm sure there are other improvements - I just can't find 'em in the Upgrade 'n Modifying-forum right now.
I did the downgrade to 1.60 last night and I noticed something weird about PBT... After bonding with a device, you need to leave that last screen (the one that PBT created) unchecked and all will work fine.
Not sure if I tried this workaround with 1.72; but non-the-less, seems to be working. I did however lose the Audio Gateway after installing PBT. But no biggie, don't want to listen use my PDA as an audio gateway for my PC.

Hmm. I checked the Active Sync-box, otherwise I couldn't connect via Active Sync over BT, since it wasn't in the menu.
But I don't remember if I paired it from the PDA or the PC. But everything works - also the GPS - so I guess it's simply a question on fidling with it.
Exactly... I'll play with it and see how to get the most out of it without messing it up.

I have got a XDA exec with Tomtom6 and a Solar Bluetooth GPS receiver...I am able to pair the device with my PDA and am also able to configure and define incoming and outgoing ports...COM 8 for incoming and COM 4 for outgoing....when I try and go to my tomtom software the only option which I get is to select the GPS type, in order to configure the device....and after selecting it keeps connecting to GPS device and nothing happens....I have even tried with Incoming (COM4) and Outgoing (COM8) and even with COM0 settings for COM ports within XDA, but to my bad luck I am not able to connect to the GPS device....can someone kindly help me with the above please

I have the same set up with the same problem. I have been told that port allocation & therefore GPS recognition is a known problem although TomTom tell you that there are no conflicts with the Exec & TT6. I have been informed that it is necessary to either download a program called GPS Dash or make changes in registry but I cannot find an idiots guide of what to do. Any help would be much appreciated before both the Exec & TT get thrown out the window.

First step:
You will need to install a registry editor. They’re available from various websites, I suggest Googling “Pocket PC registry editor”, but we can’t guarantee the reliability of third party software.
· On the XDA Exec, Go to Start > Programs and then load the newly installed registry editor.
· NB: This has to be done exactly as below in order for it to work:
Go to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\ControlPanel\GPS Settings
Delete the DWORD marked "hide"
Add a new DWORD called "Group" and give it the value of "2" (dec)
NOTE: There are different types of keys you can add, you must make sure you add a DWORD, Click it so the values entry appears then add the value 2 as described above.
· Exit the Registry editor.
· Select Start > Settings. Then go to connections using the tabs at the bottom of the settings screen.
· The GPS panel should now show up in connection settings.
Next:
· After the Bluetooth receiver has been paired with the device, you’ll need to do the following:
· In Bluetooth Settings, select COM Ports tab at the bottom > New Outgoing Port > [Choose GPS Receiver], click Next then select the OUTGOING port to 8. Click Finish. Select OK (top right corner)
· Go to Start > Settings > Connections and open the GPS control panel, select the GPS program port to COM 0 then click Hardware tab. Set Hardware port to “None”. Select OK (top right)
· Start TomTom, Click Preferences then GPS settings, select “Other Bluetooth GPS”, and COM 0 should be at the top of the list (Important: IF “COM 0” is not in the list, you will need to hard reset the device, ensuring your contacts and saved files are backed up beforehand. It may then be necessary to begin this process again after re-installing TomTom). Select COM 0 as the GPS Port and then exit TomTom. (Make sure you fully exit the program so it’s no longer running)
· Go to Start > Settings > Connections and open the GPS control panel again, now select COM 8 in the Programs section (the one we set up as “0” previously). Select OK (top right).
· Open Bluetooth again in the connection settings menu and go back to COM Ports. Select GPS Receiver by holding the stylus down on the word and selecting edit then change the outgoing port from “Port 8” to “Port 0”. Select Finish, then Select OK (top right).
· Go back to Start > Settings > Connections and open the GPS control panel again and in the Programs port select NONE.
Select OK (top right), then OK again to close settings menu.
· Finally start TomTom and the GPS receiver should connect automatically. Wait for a couple of seconds and click the GPS settings and it should be connected.
The port settings shouldn’t be changed after this point, or the process above may need to be repeated, so the customer should now steer clear of the GPS settings.
If the device experiences issues connecting to GPS, you should ensure the GPS receiver is powered up and then exit TomTom and restart it. If this doesn’t resolve, a soft reset may be needed.
GPS Dash can be downloaded from www.gpsdash.com, but we aren't aware that this needs to be added first – you should try the above before installing, we can’t offer support upon, or guarantee the reliability of GPS Dash or any other third party applications.

I have been fumbelling around for ages trying to get TT6 to work on an XD11i .
I know that it is possible as there are members on line who tell me they have it running !!.
I am trying to get a bluetooth reiciever to talk to TT6 but getting no where .
Dont suppose you could ask your friend if there is a XDA11i fix as well ?
I just get the No GPS Device all the time despite the two items talking ( lots of flashing on the Reciever led )

Yes the XDA11i is an o2 product with a great spec but no longer supported as newer models now availiable ( aka exec/ orbit etc ) it is an HTC device 2020i but has never been converted to wm5 so getting left behind.

Received a reply from another guy who I know to be very knowledgeable on most things to do with PC`s etc.
Try this solution
After pairing your gps reciever go to tomtoms satellite config and select "other cable" rather than bluetooth. Select a speed (start at 2400 and work up) then when it asks for the port select the bluetooth port. there may be two ports so you will have to suck it and see but this is the solution I used on my SPV M2000 which is an XDAIIs. When you find the right port and your reciever connects you can try it again but with different com port speeds.
I expect I will get another reply soon and I`ll post t here.

I spent the afternoon going through all of the tom tom settings , leaving it a while between each.
After pairing I started Tom tom and went to the buetooth and the other nema settings( within the tt6 change preferences / gps section ).
One at a time I went through the offered port numbers.
By choosing any setting that was not port 6 the GPS reciever turned to stand by , going back to port 6 and it came to life again .( this was the case with both " other bluetooth and other nema " choices.)
With either choice and port 6 selected there was a lot of Bluetooth activity but at no time did TT6 like the choice ( little blue/ yellow disk doesnt spin) or at any time did the GPS find as satalite .
Using either of the two remaining choices tom tom( wireless or wired ) had the same effect ( turned the GPS off) .
With the other two setting choices I ran through the possible speeds but this made no difference .
TT6 continues to say "No GPS Device " which is short for not paired or set up correctly .
Any help here greatfully appreciated , getting to my wits end. ( wonder if I have brought a duff GPS unit ? but then why the activity when port 6 is selected ? )
Checking in Bluetooth settings the outgoing port stated ( cant be changed ) is port 6 !
XDA11i is a wm2003se device .
I have had no joy getting other programmes to talk to the gps either ?

Now the good news:
I now have TT6 up and running on the Exec.
I initially set it up as per the instructions that I posted but there was a problem getting the Com 0 at the top of the list in GPS Preferences in TT.
I then did the hard reset and reset all the parameters exactly as per instructions and TT linked to the GPS receiver immediately.
The one good thing about mucking about with computer bits, is the massive sense of relief when it all starts working ok.
But others have it working !!

I have a O2 Atom and an O2 XDA II and I have been able to get a Solar GPS bluetooth unit to work with both units. I didn't need to install any registry tools and don't believe that you should need to, to get this to happen correctly.
Firstly on the o2 Atom.
1. Open Bluetooth and pair to the device and check the box to have this device used as com port.
2. Click on com ports. If you already have one, click and hold to delete it. Leave screen and return to make sure that the registry has been updated. You should now have a clean com port list. Choose an incoming port as GPS doesn't need to be bi-directional. It only needs information in, not out.
3. Go to >> Settings and then >> System.
4. There is an icon for External GPS. Click it.
5. Under GPS Program port choose the com port that you created in step 2. Hardware doesn't need a port in this instance. For safety sake, change the com port speed to match that of your GPS device (normally 9600). Under >> Access tab, make sure that manage connection automatically is checked.
6. Open TT6, and tap screen >> Change Preferences >> Right >> Right and then choose Show GPS status.
7. If you need to, click the configure option choose the appropriate GPS receiver (probably Other Bluetooth and then hit select followed by continue.
8. Choose the bottom-most post of the same number that you have created. After a short pause, TT6 will return to the previous screen and all being well, you should have a GPS signal.
On the Xda II, pair as you would any Bluetooth device. As there is no External GPS link in the Settings >> System all you need to do is create the incoming port. Complete the same TT6 setting with regards to the receiver and you should be good to go.
Remember, that all GPS devices take some time to acquire data and in that time, they can appear as not connected. I find that if you power on the GPS receiver and within 60 seconds start TT6, but the time you are ready to go I have a valid GPS signal and away we go.

I'm running Winmobile 6.1 and last night was pulling my hair out trying to get Bluetooth FTP send an receive to work. After a while i noticed my bluetooth settings on my Touch only show Devices, Mode, Com ports, and Security. Im currently running D'Harveys vista Lite rom. Ive noticed Im missing more than the BT ftp tab. Also missing profile, printer, stereo, and a few other tabs. If i didnt have this so tweaked i would just jump on a newer rom ugh. Is there a new bt stack out or this rom just didnt include the different profiles and tabs. If anyone could build a cab adding these i would greatly appreciate it
Th HD2 is my 4th WM phone on all my previous WM Phones I ran a mortscript which I wrote to transfer all the system sounds over to my bluetooth car kit when it detected the kit...the script looked for the change in a registry key:-
> HKLM\System\State\Hardware\Handsfree
and then activated the BTAudioOn program...
Now this just does not work on the HD2! neither the registry change nor the Audio transfer - the sound still comes out of the phone speaker!!
I have read that a different Bluetooth stack is used on the HD2 (Widcomm)..
So does anyone know:-
1] Which registry key changes when a handsfree kit is detected?
2] A program that will transfer the sound to the Bluetooth device on the HD2?

Which ROM are you running ? On my NRG ROM which is a 1.66 based one i have the option in the BT settings under advanced to play system sounds on remote hands free device .
Comm Manager -> BT -> Settings -> Advanced -> Audio
Never checked on a pre 1.66 ROM if this option existed ..
I have a stock O2 version with 1.43 ROM, yes I found that option and turned it on but it doesn't work! I read somewhere that it only works for stereo devices? But def not working on mine :-(

Works fine for me on my Jawbone 2 BT headset .. I can listen to music over it no probs (albeit poor quality) .. Maybe upgrade to a 1.66 rom and see how you go with that..
Is it safe to upgrade a stock O2 HD2 to this version? What else will I gain? Is sense much different?
Can someone confirm that this Bluetooth issue will be fixed if I upgrade my ROM to 1.66 WWE. I have an o2 phone which currently has 1.43 on it.
When the phone rings the sounds gets re-directed to my Plantronics M3000 headset/Nokia CK-7W car kit fine...but the Play all system Sounds through Bluetooth device feature doesn't work...I can hear extra hiss through the bluetooth device like it is switching on but the sound still comes out of the phone speaker....

For some time, I've been having problems with bluetooth.
I'm using this rom:
[ROM] [HP iPAQ 600] [WWE] WM 6.5.3 23128 Manila Edition v0.4a
When trying to enable bluetooth from the HTC Comm Manager, nothing happens. I get a busy icon (the 4 coloured circling dots), and after about 15 seconds, nothing...
When trying to enable bluetooth from the bluetooth settings, also nothing happens (same as above).
If try to search for new devices from the bluetooth setting (with bluetooth disabled of couse, I get this error: Problem with Bluetooth hardware.(which may be due to bluetooth not enabled, but I might as well put it here)
Last, if I want to beam a file (send via bluetooth), it sais "Searching..." but it doesn't find any visible bluetooth devices.
The funny thing is, when using the official rom (IPAQ_614c_ROM_WM6.0_18125.0.4.2_OFFICIAL_EN), bluetooth works fine.
Is anyone here able to help me sort this out?
Did you install newer HTC CommManager? If yes, change to zero in registry

EDIT: I just tested two versions of Keyx's roms (v39 and v38), and both have the same problem as described above
