Alright as far as that rhythm lights thing goes, I dont think there is anything like that for the WIZARD and the PhonViso thing just seems like a memory wasting app that is unnecessary because you still have to open WMP in the background and then open it which means you have to have 2 programs running just to get the effects. Now if teh PhonViso app was a media player also and you only had to run one program to get the visualizations, then I think it would be neat.
As far as rom upgrading goes, it depends on what you are looking for and whether your device is a G3 or G4. When your device boots up, what is the IPL/SPL? If I know that then I can more effectively help you.
For flashlight apps, I havn't really come across a good one that is really bright or anything. I think it would be cool to see one that integrates the camera flashlight to work without opening the camera. I have attached the best one I have found, but it's still not great.
I know you're new here, but in order to contribute, you are gonna need to do A LOT of reading to better understand everything unless you are like a computer programming genius.
Lets just start off by telling me what your IPL/SPL are and we can determine whether your device is G3 or G4 and we can go from there.

my cingular is pretty much stock its just software and skins it has
heres the stuff
IPL 2.25
SPL 2.25
GSM 2.25.11
OS 2.25.11.1
PhonVISO makes the visualizers not through windows media player but through what goes in the mic

Ok so you have a G3 device. I would reccomend starting out by CID unlocking your device. Use this thread to unlock your phone first(don't be offended by then name of the thread. lol) Wizard/MDA/8125 Unlocking for Dummies
Once you have your CID unlocked then you will be able to test roms at your leisure.

ok will some roms brick my phone
can you give me a list of recommend roms

i followed it
new stuffs are
IPL 1.01
SPL 2.25
GSM 01.12.10

Ok I see that the IPL/SPL are changed but have you finished unlocking the phone using Lokiwiz? IF NOT THEN YOU NEED TO DO THIS. It is attached to this post in case you have not done it yet. If you have already unlocked the phone USING LOKIWIZ then do not worry about the download and then just proceed to my next step below.
Once the device is successfully unlocked then you need to flash this rom: T-Mobile 2.26 to create a stable base to flash other roms.
After the update is finished and the phone has rebooted, then you need to set up the rom. Just follow the steps and configure the rom on first startup.
Once this is done, then flash IPL/SPL 3.08 for faster boot times and then you are done.
From here you can flash any rom you like. I personally like TNT5.0 Touchflo edition but I am not going to reccomend any rom to you, I want you to try a couple of them and decide what you like.
Have fun!

ok before i saw your post i went and installed xda mobile 6 without installing the 2.26 base will that affect anything
i got ipl/spl 3.08 before too
can i still install the t-mobile 2.26 then go to a different one
EDIT i guess it isnt recommended to just install it..
ty for all this help btw

What to do, what to do...

As I am reading through the posts in this website I realize that I am not as technical as I would like. I am trying to simply make my Mogul more responsive and functional. I would like to be able to use the GPS with Google Maps, once this feature is available, and obviously I would like everything to look cool.
I currently have the following installed:
ROM Version 2.17.651.0
Radio Version 1.47.01
SPB Mobile Shell
SPB Phone Suite
Opera Mobile
Can anyone offer assistance on what I should do/add next?
the first thing id do is upgrade your radio and get on one of DCD's roms. instant GPS. winmo 6.1 also makes your phone much faster. umm ditch SPB, it slows everything down like crazy and pick up HTC home and HTC home customizer. make sure you have the newest opera, not the beta, its much better. thats what i got for you so far, if i think of anything else ill let you know
In general I understand what you are saying, but I am not sure I understand how. Where would one go to upgrade the radio and get a dcd rom?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=362563
follow the directions here (follow them in order and you'll be ok)
you can get the latest DCD rom here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=367574
(just a note to you. these roms that people are making take a lot of hard work and time, and all of the GPS roms are based of a leaked test rom(it's not official from sprint or whom ever your carrier is) so there are bugs and they are working hard to fix the issues. most likely if you have a problem it's been had before so search through the threads for the answer)
ok so let me make sure I understand...
I do these things in this order?:
1. Hard SPL Unlocker
2. Radio 3.27
3. DCD ROM 2.2.6
Is this correct?
Also, will I be able to load other software on top of this ROM?
Also, what is the difference in a ROM and a Kitchen?

switch the radio and the rom placement
(this supposedly helps keep your information intact so you don't have to call your provider and get the Akey)
1. Hard SPL Unlocker
2. DCD ROM 2.2.6
3. Radio 3.27
you will be able to put programs on top of this rom
a kitchen lets you customize the rom before you flash it to your phone

To check your SPL and IPL, enter bootloader. Hold down the the voice and camera button, then hit the soft reset button. About HardSPL and other stuffs, please read
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=369397.
It's a good guide. This is for your own good, don't rush and you may end up bricking your phone. I am a noob too. Just take a few hours to read them, and I am now ... I don't know, I lost count of the number of roms I flashed.

Try the TouchIT or OpenTouch roms, They are very good, both in speed and look. I know I may sound weird, but I am using TouchIT 3.0 (I think the newest one is TouchIT 6 or something like that). It is so fast that I don't even need to over clock. The other roms I usually over clocked them to 247.
ITje, the author for the TouchIT roms removed all his download links before because someone sold the roms in eBay, but here is the list his previous ones

rom on storage card

is there any way to run a rom on the storage card insted of on the device its self???
or if not what files and folders could i move to my storage card because im haveing a really really bad memory leak. i mean it goes from having like 25mb free all the way down to like 4mb free and it will do that in less then a days time. i dont really know what to do to either stop it or maybe slow it down.
any help at all would be great thanks
oh also i am using the stock tmo rom
2.26.20.2WWE
radio 02.25.11
prtocol 4.1.13.12
extrom 2.26.10.105
ipl 3.08
spl 3.08
Your problem is the T-Mobile ROM. The carrier ROMs have HUGE memory leaks, that at this time cannot be fixed. I suggest that you upgrade to one of the new WinMo 6 or 6.1 ROMs, they are faster, more compatable, and solve the memory leak problem.
were can i get a stock winmo rom from that doesnt have a bunch of bs on it
Well, I would go with the latest version of the TNT ROM. Its pretty much considered the best, but if you want some variety in your programs, then go with S.V.I.s HORNET V0.5, as its got the most usefull program set out of all of them.
I can understand your wanting a ROM that doesnt have alot of programs in it, and I am sorry to say that there really isnt one anymore that is really minimal, but the 2 that I just told you about are still quite fast and stable with the programs that they inlcude, and they dont have any kind of crapware like the T-Mobile and other carrier ROMs have.
After you download a ROM, use the Wizard Service Tool to find out if you have a G3 or G4 Wizard, then read the appropriate guide to see how to flash it, or ask back here for more info. Happy flashing!
I read that the best way to get a base rom is to cook your own using FARIA but i have never tried cooking a rom before so idk if it would be a good idea for me or not i mean i got my wizard for free but i really dont feel like bricking it because i didnt do something right...
how easy is it to cook a base rom using FARIA
Meh, cooking isnt that hard, but if you plan on making your own, start with a newer kitchen as the Faria one is 2-3 years old now. Just read the instructions with whatever kitchen you use, and FOLLOW THEM TO A "T", if something is not matching the instructions STOP, and you should be fine.
which kitchen would you suggest for me to use since im a first time cooker
also do you live in florence ky if so what part cuz i live in villa hills

Sloowwwww

Im looking for a bit of reassurance to be honest, i have a love hate relationship with my HD2...when its running smoothly and doing what i want, i LOVE it, its perfect, but often when i try open something, and those 4 coloured circles start spinning and i have to press the far right hard key (power button) to put in stand by then open again to try and solve the load issue, i HATE it. Not only that...i get lag quite often when scrolling along that bar at the bottom.
I don't know much about all this but i have a o2 HD2, (not sure if they have sent me a branded or unbranded one?),
OS version 5.2.21864 (21864.5.0.81)
Manilla Version 2.5.19202525.0
ROM Version 1.43.206.4 (70315) WWE
Radio Version 2.04.50.22_2
I believe I have a flash to do? Will this improve my lag issues, making me LOVE this phone more than I HATE it?
cheers guys.
There has to be some problem, I have never experienced any lag (unless it was caused by bugy software or application). So the problem can be some application u have installed. Flashing a custom rom can help.
i want to flash the latest software but i'm so confused by it all i've been so reluctant to do it lol. theres so many custom roms which one do i install? so much abbreviations i dont know what they mean andim scared of bricking my phone! i dont mind losing all the applications and date, i find so far the HD2 has crap applications as it is...
An example of loading issues, this morning when i was driving i wanted to see what song was on the radio, so i opened midomi at the beginning of the song, it was loading for a while, i tried being patient but had to put in standby a close it in the task manager, then open it again. by this time the song had finished...
I dont use midomi so cant say if it is working for me.
I was scared too when I was going to flash for the first time my old tytn II, its not so bad. Just read the stickies in rom development thread and there is everything u need to know.
Matt:
The first thing you want to do if you don't want to wait on O2 to release their new ROM is read THIS thread. Once you understand that thread, you need to install HSPL onto your phone. This allows yout to flash ANY ROM, custom or stock, to your phone.
I'd start off with the latest HTC ROM (1.66) and see how you get on with that. After you've given that a run, and know what you want from your device, then you can start to look into custom ROMs. Don't bother asking which is best as it's subjective - everyone likes something different. Personally, CleanEx is worth a look as it's about to get a new release and sounds exciting. I'll be trying this again once it's available...
okay so my phone is from o2, do i need to pay to get it unlocked before i can do anything?
Depends if it's SIM locked - if it is you'll have to ask O2 for the unlock code (there's a page on their website to get it - should be free). HSPL and flashing the ROM won't remove the SIM lock. You can flash the ROM before the SIM lock removal
As EddyOS says, you can get the SIM lock removed for free from O2, but you don't need to do that in order to flash new ROMs.

i need guides...

hi. i just bought a tmobile hd2. some of my phones informations is:
spl-2.10.0000 8g xe
fcc id:nm8pb81120
os version 5.2.21892 (21892.5.0.89)

protocol 15.39.50.07u

i've read lots of articles on this site. i suppose i'll need to instal another rom on my phone. i read a lot but i get little confused. i think first i have to instal HardSPL (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=653614) second i have to flash a radio and i can instal a rom. and on this page (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784) it says i don't need to flash a radio. which means that i just install hardspl and instal this rom... am i right?
can you guys help me what am i suppose to do... and which version of hardspl, radio and rom works well for me?
sory to ask lots of questions but i don't know enough about wm phones ( thanks for guides...
Hi, basic steps are
1. Backup your important data like contacts etc..
2. Its very IMPORTANT that you Flash HardSPL first before flashing any ROM (No worries,it only needs to be done once for you to enjoy subsequent custom ROMs). Version 2.08.HSPL is ok.
3. Browse the threads for a suitable "TMobile HD2 compatible ROM" or visit this link for comfirmed ROMs.
4. Perform a Hard reset after successfully flashing any of the ROMs
5. Enjoy!
i suggest u clear your schedule, get coffee, tea, drink(s) and visit This Link . It contains info and links to all the guides you can possibly need to push you and your device to a higher level. i wouldn't recommend trying android till you are very comfortable with flashing ROMs.
you dont need to worry about the radio just yet, because since you have a tmous phone, it already has a radio that will work with all tmous compatible roms anyway.
Well I'm gonna just say right now I'm not an expert or anything since I'm relatively new too. I'm just trying to help, I would however advise wait for a more experienced person to answer.
First, if you want to flash a ROM follow this guide for the TMOUS HD2's. It goes over how to do it, which ROMs are compatible and all that.
Yes, you do have to get HSPL (except I think there are methods when you don't, though that might just be for the international phones...). But to get HSPL you should probably use this. I don't know if it is the only thing that does it but it, from what I understand, is the most well known. It also keeps you from "bricking" your phone.
From what I understand the only time you have to flash a radio is if the ROM needs it, and the chefs will say if it needs a certain one or list ones that it works with on their ROM page. I think most of them support the radio that comes stock, though don't take my word for it. I would wait for someone else to confirm or re-explain this paragraph because I'm not completely for sure.
As for which ROM is right for you...well only you can answer that. They all are different and different ones have advantages over the others. You just gotta explore a little and see what looks nice. This is the list of ROMs that support the T-Mobile HD2 so stick to it. I don't know how up-to-date it is (meaning I don't know if there are any new ones or not) but stick to those, you can "brick" your phone otherwise.
I would however advise if you're new to WM phones to try out themes first. They are a lot safer and I don't think there is any chance of ruining your phone (the only reason I flashed mine is because I've done it with a different phone before and felt comfortable doing it). Don't do anything you are uncomfortable doing and understand all the risks that go into anything you do to your phone before you do them.
Sorry for the long post, just hope this helps a little.
Edit:
I just got double ninja'd

That's d spirit...You'll be amazed @ what the search function on XDA coughs up...Everything'll go well once u stick to d guides and TMobile compatibie ROMs & Radios.
i picked up this rom (forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=652649) but there is two options. 1) com5(c5) 2)com2(c2). i don't know what it means... and if want to install one of these roms do i have to flash a radio after installing hspl?
and what is the stock rom?
thanks again...
It looks like COM5 and COM2 are just different versions. COM5 offers more options it looks like though, but I'm not sure. Someone else can probably answer that a lot better than me. I am also unable to answer the radio question. Sorry.
As for stock ROM though, that is the ROM that came already on your HD2 when you got it.

I see u picked out Kumar's ROM...Click Here for a thread on the definitions and differences between COMs...And No, you won't need to flash a radio after installing HSPL or a custom ROM (Unless you are having problems connecting to your network in which case, u need 2 be careful 2 flash a radio known to work with Tmobile HD2).
Stock ROM is the original/default ROM which TMobile shipped with your device. Follow this guide and you can grab the stock ROM from here. The Stock ROM has to be re-flashed to your device if u ever have to return it to Tmobile as flashing a custom ROM voids your warranty. Grab useful links and watch video tutorials here.
Hope dis helps ya.
