I really need some help here.
I have a WM6 Moto Q9m. My challenge is with email, and notifications. First of all, I am using ActiveSync just fine with Exchange 2003 (soon to be 2007 ). I have configured a second email account for POP3 to a mailbox that I need to monitor 24x7. Here is what I can not figure out:
1. On the home screen (default vzw profile) I have the email shortcuts for each account to include "email (outlook)" SMS, MMS, and VMail. I do not have, nor can figure out how to get a shortcut for my POP3 mailbox. When I get a new email to my pop3 inbox, I get an audio notification, but I can not see at a glance how many items are unread in that pop3 mailbox like I can in the "Email" shortcut. In WM5, the pop3 mailbox would show on the home screen in addition to the default outlook mailobx.
2. I would really like to change the audio notification to be different for the pop3 mailbox, than the default outlook mailbox. As I am monitoring the pop3 mailbox 24x7, I would like to have a "pager" sound to differentiate the pop3 email notification from the default email notification.
I know there is someone that can shed some light here. I have searched the registry but can not figure these out! Thank You!

Hey,
I just set up my email account on my XDA II.
Little question about automaticly downloading emails.
On my spv e200 (also an HTC phone) I need to have my mailbox loaded before it download emails. What I mean with this: open the inbox and than go to the email tab (not sms).
Is this the same for the XDA II?
Or can my inbox be set on sms and the emails are still downloaded?
Cheers
when one set up ones mail account one have to choose if it should check mail every X minut and which connection it should use to do this so i asume very much that it'll still do it if you are in sms
Yes I did that
Just asking about the inbox.
Thanks for asking.
well i havent set that option on myself so i cant promise you anything but if it dont i would call it a bug
I have set 2 email account on my XDA2 or 1 (it s the same)
well if i programm my accounts to be checked every X mn i have to let the selector on the email account otherwise it wont connect and pop for my mails.
Of course it pop only the email account selected. so you can consider it is the same.
I can not automatically check for both of my mail accounts.
But if you let the selector on your email accout, you will also be notified for incoming SMS, whereas if you let the selector on the SMS account you will not be notified for any new incoming mail
not really a bug, but will be great from MS to correct thant in the next release

Hello,
I don't understand what is the difference between these 2 icones in Pocket Outlook. (see attachment)
somebody can explain to me... i find nothing in doc or on microsoft website.
thanks,
Garou
Two mail icons
I have often wondered the same thing. From their behavior I beleive the one with the hand connects the PDA to the mail server and then just checks the mail server for new mail and grabs new mail headers. The icon with the 2 envelopes seems to download any new mail with attachements according to policy and send any qued mail.
If you're just using POP accounts, these icons don't dramatically differ in funcionality, but if you're using an Exchange activesync mobile profile, the first button will connect you to the server and continue checking for new messages depending on your profile settings, and the second will just send/receive your mail once only.
There are a lot of POP3 notifiers for Windows.
Is there any POP3 notifier for the HTC Universal?
Here is what features interest me:
- check POP3 every X minutes (configurable delay) using minimal data transfer
- if I get mail from certain contacts (configurable), the program should ring and vibrate and show a notification
- start on startup, run all the time, but only check POP3 between configurable hours
Is there any program like this available?
I know that "push email" exists, but I hate Exchange, and I want to use my own POP3 (GMAIL) account without passing through an unreliable piece of software such as Exchange.
Thank you.
Well you could create a new mail (mail2) account that only checks for new mails.
Set it to : (Under Options)
1/3) Connect and check for messages every : Your interval
3/3) "Get message headders only", and disable message body
Sound And Notifications -> Notifications: New e-mail message
Set it to play sound and what other settings you wish.
If you then get a mail on your mail2 account that you would like to read, just switch to your Mail1 account, and recive it there
Should/could work even though it dossent do all that you want it to!
Thank you. This is a very interesting method.
I can do something like:
- forward mail from certain contacts, from GMail account 1 (main account) to account 2
- use the checking you described on account 2
This is very interesting.
It's true that this method does some data transfer, but so does "push email" - it sends the so-called "pulse" to the server periodically.
I'm surprised that no company has done their own "push mail" and stuff. These things are quite simple to program. If only I could get used to Visual C++ again...
I have an MDA and I have many email account mailboxes setup. I would like to simply be able to do one send/receive and it would go out to all the different email accounts and send/receive mail. Now with Pocket Outlook on my MDA, I have to switch into each email account mailbox and do a separate send/receive for each one. Is there a way to avoid having to do a separate send/receive for each email account? I do not want to setup automatic download mode. I want to manually initiate the fetching of mail. If this is the way it should be, does anybody know of alternate email clients that would make the receiving of multiple accounts easier?
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated?
I found WebIS FlexMail 2007 which seems to work very well. It does cost $20.00. Thanks for those of you who did view this posting.
I found somwhere program called q3u. it have send/recive option for all accounts and much more. It's free.
Sorry that was only filename. Program name is qmail. it's free. you can find it on www.freewareppc.com.
When I look in the Windows program Messages I see SMS/MMS, Outlook mail and setup Email.
Now here's my problem. I sync (pushmail) with Intellisync. That works great, for many years now. My mail is stored in the Outlook mail-folder.
I'd like to use TouchFLO's Mail but that does not work. I see in the big bottom-icon this envelope with the number of unread mail messages in a circle.
But the screen says: No accounts.
Which means that this mailprogram of TouchFLO works half with Outlook mail: it only counts unread mail, but cannot handle it.
Or is it possible to integrate?
Thanks.
