Hi, my phone stopped responding today, to key inputs, I can switch it on, but have to pull the battery to turn it off.
If I press the power button once, I get I think a 'bootlaoder' screen, Red line with Typhoon IPL 1.00, Green line with Typhoon SPL 2.05.0130 and a Blue line with just Typhoon written in it.
I just want to know if I can retrieve my contacts that were on that phone, so I can put them on the sim card on a new phone.
Thanks in advance!
No, you can't unless you make it works again. don't worry, it is recoverable.
It depends if you can establish a usb connection .. and copy pim.vol from your your smartphone, copy it into a new WM5/WM2003 smartphone and copy all the contacts into your sim. It might be done.

Was working OK...went to install spb clone..asked if I wanted to make a clone of the device on my existing mini-SD card..I said yes. Now it hangs at the "Windows Mobile" screen...
I tried the Hard - Reset (push the two buttons and hold in the soft-reset button, press green phone button...) and also taking the battery out.
It boots up with Cingular screen with info about ROM then goes to Windows Mobile screen...that's it. The BT and green power light flash (I had on BT before it crashed)...
Anyone have any ideas...? I hope it's not fricked up...of course I could always take it back I think...
TIA...

did you hard reset without the sd card in the device :?: :?
I left the card in and waited for some time the first and second times...now I have the card out and also the battery out hoping it will boot when I put the battery back in..
Any way to "re-ROM" this sucker?...
dont know about re-rom, but my guess is it should load fine without the sd card, i suspect the card may have become corrupt which is causing the device to hang, had similar problem myself after installing pocket mechanic it took a hard reset and a format of the card to solve it
heres hoping it works for you after hard reset
been trying to hard reset it for a while now...still hangs at the blue windows screen. hooked it up to the pc and will try to install a diff rom and see what other type of damage i can do.
Can you get your wizard into USB mode by holding down the voice command button, hitting the reset button with your stylus, and continuing to hold the voice command down for a couple seconds until you get a three-color screen?
If you can get to this screen, your bootloader is intact, and there is still definite hope for your device.
Got it working...weew...
Left the battery out all night..did a hard reset and got the "format complete" on the black screen..after that...it was ok.
thanx for all the help guys..
Hey guys,
ActiveSync wasn't finding my phone last night, so I soft reset it. When it started up, it's stuck on white screen (where the blue, windows mobile screen should be). ActiveSync cannot see the phone at all.
I've read the post: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Unbrick
I've put it into bootloader menu (SPL 1.09) and connecting the USB cable changes "serial" to "USB"
Windows XP finds "HTC USB Sync" device and ActiveSync's wheels start turning.
A few seconds later, ActiveSync stops wokring, saying the device can't connect.
All I want is to recover my SMSs, the rest I don't care.
Is there a way to connect to the phone's files in 'HTC USB Sync' (bootloader) mode??
*crosses fingers*please say yes, please say yes*
All the best,
Dax.
i have the same problem!
I managed to upgrade to 1.09 while stuck in this white screen... is there any fix to the white screen?
The other forum post didnt work, tried the battery off for 20mins, the usb plugged in with no battery (phone doesnt even turn on this way)
none work
please help you brainy guys
Have you tried to flash from SD card... There is a guide i WIKI.
yeah, I had to hard reset and lose my data
i also have the white screen. it just died one day, at the time i didnt even know about roms and i'd never heard of this site.
any help getting it mended would be well appreciated.
Hi Toppy,
Try pulling battery out, other than that, only thing to do is a hard reset.
Sorry
Details for a hard-reset should be easy to find on this board.
Great reason to backup frequently.
(I use PIMBackup 2.5 everynight at 4am and sbp backup twice a week at 4:30am)
a blank screen
heyy guys i have the same problem with my screen, i bought a new one in ebay, after installed the new screen, i turned on the phone, the screen works fine, but when i turned off the phone and change the sim card, then when i turned on the phone again the screen was in blank!!!
guys if you can help my please i will aprecite it!!! i cant live without a touch screen
Creation magic,
Did you follow my suggestions?
My phone gives me white screen every now and then when I reset it. I simply reset again and it's fine.
Seems to occur more frequently the longer I leave the phone without total formatting. (It's Windows - it needs ocassional formatting)
about my white screen
when i turn off the phone and turn on again my screen appears in blank but when i did a hard reset my screen works fine!! i don't really understand my htc 8525 hahaha he is crazy and the call button and end call button doesn't work.
thanks
thanks guys for help me and everyone here in this forum!!!
you're a real brainy guys
Hi Guys,
My touch screen and LCD screen NOt working! Phone Switches ON and comes to standby mode. (i hear all the booting dings and dong melodies)
I neeed to take a backup of my device. to do so i thought i'll use my mobiler and see the phone screen through the PC! unfortunately the last time i used i used the phone as the 'storage device' option. so every time i connec the phone to the pc windows open up my phone's storage card.
Is there a possibility i can change this back to active sync without using the phone's screen.
Or are there any other suggestions for me to take a full backup??
This might be overly complicated but all I can think of at the moment is to write a mortscript or something similar, stick on on your SD card and create an autorun on the card to run the script when it's inserted. The script could change the registry key associated with activesync/usb storage when the device is connected.
Yagetme?
You might be able to get it to work if you do a hard reset or perhaps flash another rom, as if I remember correctly, the default connection setting is set to Activesync.
However, if you're planning to solve the touchscreen, LCD problem, try to flash another rom. If that doesn't work, maybe it's a ribbon connection problem? I had a problem similar to this on my Diamond.
well, atm i see alot of ppl haveing problem with the display, dunno why this happens but it does.
my display turns black sometimes, to get it back working i turn out the battery for 10 seks, put it in again, and try to turn device on till it works. i will bring it to the service.
a hardreset won't help u, because ur data will be lost after hard reset.

Hi All
My Father has an SPV M5000 (HTC Universal). He has unlocked the SIM lock from IMEI number some time ago.
Recently it started going screwy and so he did a soft reset and then it wont turn on at all.
He has let me play with it and if I try a hard reset it comes up with the screen saying "press 0 to restore...", but if you press 0 it says "clearing now" and then appears to switch off. If you press x it also appears to switch off.
You can enter bootloader mode and it displays SERIAL on the screen - when you plug it in to a PC the screen changes to USB. But when I try connecting using MTTY I get no USB port - although selecting COM5 seems to open a command prompt window - but to be honest I dont know where to go from here.
If I try a soft reset it seems to do nothing - although the orange charging light blinks once.
With it connected to a PC in bootloader mode I was able to reflash the ROM and it went through all three stages correctly and indicated it had been successful - but when you finish with a hard reset it appears to turn off.
Before I use it to wedge my living room door open, can anyone offer any advice? I have perused the forum, but cannot find anything which seems to match the fault I am getting.
Thanks in advance

It is possible that the battery had it's day and can't sustain the full on mode. I suggest trying with another fully charged battery.
Thanks Enigma... but it is a new battery and is fully charged - I too have an M5000 and I have swapped the batteries over to check this.
Thanks
