Hey everyone! It's me (again) posting (again) hehe. Well, I'm just wondering if anyone has noticed this:
While typing using the touch screen, fast, even with XT9.
Typing on keyboard with XT9 or ABC is sometimes slow, and misses a letter that you push (rarely) but happens.
Has this happened to anyone else? Or am I just not used to the keyboard still ?
happened here.
it makes me angry. is there any kinda fix for this?
not that i know of. its probably a hardware bug.

its skipping buttons if you type fast! (which I do)!
Problem fixed install these and follow the directions and you'll see how it works great! Wow... How ironic!

If you could tell me anything about their charges, then I could tell you....
was browsing their site and didn't find it.....
you can simply pm me about it
honestly no idea where that link came from, sorry
honestly someone must have a solution to this, it must be bugging people....
Bumping indeed, wanting this solution also
I'd like to know this as well... Also the answer button is a waste of space. Why would anyone need it if theoretically it shouldn't be possible to answer a call without finger slide. Sometimes I answer calls by mistake when removing the device from the pouch...
I think this is one of the reasons for my battery depletion. Every time I pull my HD2 out of my pocket, the screen is always on...
This really needs a solution
When taking the phone out of my pocket I have seen it in Opera, other apps and worst of all I heard my pocket talking to me on Monday - pulled my phone out and I had called someone who had been called by me listening to everything I was saying!
As I said this really needs a solution ASAP if anyone can help...

For now you might be better of by using Lock Screen, it can still turn on your phone with any hardkey. But atleast the screen itself is locked so you can't call someone, or start any programs.
I understand lock screen is an option but the simplicity of a one click lock/unlock makes the phone that much quicker to get into and better to use....
we just need a way to disable the other 4 buttons (expect power) from waking the device....
bump...anyone
I would like to know as well.
Also, I want the "answer" and "hang up" hard keys disabled when I receive a call. This made me pickup or ignore call which I did not want to pickup/ignore.
Only solution would be a custom rom with device lock/button lock coocked in it.

Well PocketShield is halfway there. it disables the hangup button nicely, but I can still push the hard pickup button.

Superb! It works! Thanks so much!
Getting Closer
It seems like someone has at least managed to control the hard keys now... surely someone must be able to make this control the power button only for wake....
please....

It's not work for me with 1.61 Rom...
In Call Lock.exe produce "Unexpected error"
But, I really need this trick
Reason4444, do you have .Net 3.5 installed?
i dun usually delete SMS in my HD2(esp those from my gf), so every time i want to write or reply SMS to others, i click on a thread and wait for like 4-5 secs till the phone "reads" all the SMS in that thread, then i can tap the screen for input keyboard to pop up and start typing.
this is annoying, anyway to prevent this from happening or at least speed up the "reading"??
Thx!!
its seems that we all are having the same problme and there is no solution for it just yet other than using the traditional mode.
i really hope HTC will come up with a solution atleast show the last 10 sms like the older version.
YOU **** P£"!$£"!$ off and go read the forum there is a work around fix if ur willing to go search for it!

argh...well...classic views are kinda messy for me, besides i have to tap 2 more times in order to reply...
No, there's no fix for the lag.
There's a fix for the sending issue, but its a 50/50 that it works according to all the ppl who posted in those threads.
Meanwhile, when you are going to reply on an SMS, press the "Send"-button when the SMS-list is being populated and then "Cancel" and voila - its done.

wow that really makes a difference~thx man~~well hopefully HTC can fix this lag~~
Yup.. I agree. its slow in this sense.. ut I usually do a backup using the windows myphone app and just delete the messages. in this way, the messages is not lost.
You can try it too.
Has anyone had any experience in terms of changes that mask and you have somewhere to look inside LG phone scheme. I am mostly interested in whether these three special keys or buttons can be changed, since I was a sunken button if I may say so. If anyone can help, let okac some link where I can look at that.

As in mask, you mean the keys of the keypad or the housing? Both of these are not user replaceable as far as I'm aware. But, of course, someone who is a phone technician or basically anyone who can disaasemble and reassemble the phone would be able to do it. The best option is to take it to LG customer care.
If i understand what i believe... i want to do this too!, i want to put other actions in my lateral buttons of my GT540... but i dont know how can i do it...
Anyone can help us?

Usually through home launchers, or sometimes apps offer to take over that button. I don't know of any other ways.
Ok this is probably right or way off.
so after trying to understand what you've wrote.
you want to replace buttons ??? because they have sunk into the mask/housing
http://www.formymobile.co.uk/lgoptimusdisassembly.php
this would help you dismantle the phone replacing the buttons from there is straight forward
again sorry if this is completely wrong
Hi,
I am a user of DesireZ for three months, after 2 years with G1, and so far I found it...even depressing (sic!), that the keyboard has no numbers row but only the combination of Fn + key.
How do you find it ? Any extra method of typing IP numbers for example ? or numbers with spaces e.g. +48 123 456 789 ? Please tell I me I get used to use it
Solution for me would be, and this is a question, there is a way to map two programmable keys to "space" and "comma". Possible ?
Cheers,
Whatlogin
I was a migrant from the g1 as well and found it hard to get used to at first. It isn't all that bad though considering you can press the fn key twice in succession and then the top row will work as a numbers row rather than letters. Apart from that, I don't have a solution sorry
I think I remember someone posting an apk in here that would show numbers row at the bottom of a screen as soon as you'd pulled out the keyboard in 'txt writing mode'. Mind you, it was way back in dec or jan... Try search?
I used to have it but it didn't work for me as I seem to remember it required root (I don't have that yet)
See if you find it, good luck
edit: I did find the file in my fone (!)
I take no credit for it nor responsibility whatsoever!!!
Sadly, I do not know who made that either (to credit them) but here it is...
good luck
Wow! TA for replies.
@HAK Devil: I know, but permanent Fn switch the "space" to XT9 and "." to ":"
@wolek76: this is exactly something that could sort out my needs. I should have been looking for G2 rather than DesireZ
Anyway - here is the thread regarding to whole idea and developer:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=813742
I haven't have a chance to have it working yet - but good to know I am not alone
Regards,

You should keep your G1 as a backup phone incase the DZ goes wrong and you end up having to send it back for repairs. After 7 months the touchscreen on my old DZ kept sticking in one particular place and HTCs idea of "fixing it" was to kill 1/3 o fthe touchscreen, which was really annoying so after a month of heavy duty legal pressure (thanks to my partner), they coughed up a replacement.
Short version: I wouldn't ditch the rock solid G1 if I were you, it'll one day come in handy.
Hey I tried installing this and it wouldn't show up at all. Enabled it in keyboard settings, fixed permissions; nothing worked.
Has anybody gotten this to work? And have there been any updates on it?
One of the biggest probs I've had with this phone was the 5th number row. You do eventually get used to it, for the most part lol.
What keys did you have in mind for the swap?
Also, I think you may need root for this method to work. Are you rooted?
Sent from my HTC Vision using XDA Premium App
Even my old Nokia E70 had better keyboard than Vision/Desire Z has. That is so sad :-(

It did not work with me as well, thought when it got updated to 2.3.3 it actually started working no problem. Still there is a problem with Fn and 'shift' keys. I have no root and I haven't change anything to my phone apart from allowing installations from other sources.

Hi,
I am not rooted and as I mentioned - this does not work yet well. Check out also the thread I listed above. It is still being under development.
The two keys I was thinking about was the programmable keys that can be used for apps and so on.
I know I will get used to it. The easiest is type everything and come back to paste special symbols I guess like "ftp19216811://..." ha ha Maybe HTC want to make people stop writing like U2, sk8 is gr8, 4me and use proper language
Cheers!
