Has anyone had any experience in terms of changes that mask and you have somewhere to look inside LG phone scheme. I am mostly interested in whether these three special keys or buttons can be changed, since I was a sunken button if I may say so. If anyone can help, let okac some link where I can look at that.

As in mask, you mean the keys of the keypad or the housing? Both of these are not user replaceable as far as I'm aware. But, of course, someone who is a phone technician or basically anyone who can disaasemble and reassemble the phone would be able to do it. The best option is to take it to LG customer care.
If i understand what i believe... i want to do this too!, i want to put other actions in my lateral buttons of my GT540... but i dont know how can i do it...
Anyone can help us?

Usually through home launchers, or sometimes apps offer to take over that button. I don't know of any other ways.
Ok this is probably right or way off.
so after trying to understand what you've wrote.
you want to replace buttons ??? because they have sunk into the mask/housing

this would help you dismantle the phone replacing the buttons from there is straight forward
again sorry if this is completely wrong

Well the topic says it all.
I want to add a sound to the opening and/or closing of the keyboard.
Is this possible?
Thanks
Any hacks for this? I suppose that the opening of the keyboard calls some kind of an event (since sliding it open changes the screen orientation) So can this same event call be used to assign a sound as well?
I also want to kno this and was going to ask right before I came 2 see this link...so please answer!
There are some really talented people here. I would have thought someone would have done this by now. But I assume, from lack of info, that this hasn't been considered before?
Would someone, who has the skill set to do this, consider looking into it and seeing if it is possible?
Thanks a million!!
Have a good one
Try this thread.....
Cheers!
That thread refers to the Herald, or Tmobile Wing. I found this thread and thats all I've been able to find for the Wizard or Tmobile MDA.
There may be a registry key that needs to be modified/added after installing the HTC Sliding Sounds application to make it 'active' for the Wizard.
Any ideas?
Im trying to figure it out too.. I dunno how to get it to initiate...
Need someone with the Herald (T-Mobile Wing) to help
Under HKEY\LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SlidingSound there are 2 keys 'ActiveSlidingSound' and 'SlidingSoundEffect', these are for setting which sound of the 3 available to use, I'm assuming.
Anyone out there know someone with a Herald or T-Mobile Wing that is willing to share what they have in this folder in their registry?? Maybe there's and EnableSound key or something to that effect that us Wizard users can add and we'll have a happy day!

I just checked mine and under SlidingSound, there are 3 folders... 0, 1, and 2. Each folder has 3 keys... Default, in, and out. "Default" is the name for the sounds (ex: Wind Chimes, Piano, and Xylophone), "in" is the location of the file used for when the keyboard slides in (ex: Slider0_in.wav), and the same applies to "out" for when the keyboard slides out (ex: Slider0_out.wav).
Also inside the SlidingSound folder are 2 more keys... ActiveSlidingSound and SlidingSoundEffect. ActiveSlidingSound refers to which sliding sound you want to use... so in this case it would be one of the 3 folders mentioned above (0,1, or 2). SlidingSoundEffect refers to whether or not you want the sliding sound on. (0 = off, 1 = on).
Hope this helps!
I installed the software that was made by JUVS....it does not work on my MDA.
Any other ideas? I had tried searching before I made this thread initially, and i had not seen the 2 that are discussed here. I apologize for having made a 3rd one.
Back on topic, I certainly hope this can be made to work. Any other ideas?
Thanks for all the info so far.
Later
this is a really cool idea, i would also like to know how to do it...

Thanks so much! This does help!
Unfortunately, I have the same keys on my MDA after installing the application for the SlidingSounds and it doesn't make sounds when I open the keyboard physically. I'm suspecting that the MDA is missing something, possibly a hardware switch (don't think so, though, cause it has to detect when the keyboard opens for landscape mode).
My guess is that this will not work on the MDA
Umfortunately I'm not a programmer, but I was thinking that the easiest way to get somethig like this to work would be to link the sound to play with the screen rotation instead of trying to get it to work when the keyboard is slid out which obviously isn't working anyway. It would play the sound if you rotated your screen manually, but I can't see why that would be a big deal. Maybe someone with a little programming knowledge could get this to work though.
I wanna keep this thread alive. SlidingSounds is something i wanna see work for wizards. It'll be cool if someone could craft a workaround or a new prog altogether.
Opening the keyboard is an event, shouldn't be hard to craft something to have it make a sound.
Any updates on this? I downloaded the app and it hasn't done anything, especially when messing with the registry. Thanks.
I've been working on tis as well but it seems that there is no way to adjust the registry to get it to work. I believe a app is gonna have to get the wizard to have this feature.
This would be so cool.. Alot of people have 'flip' style phones, and when they open them, they have some funny sounds. Would be great to have on the Wizard!
Anybody figured this out yet? I'm really sure it can be done.
im all about hacks for the wizard, but...
im assuming that you saw a wing and are trying to duplicate it...
WHY would you want it to do this?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!
same question for the menu pop sound?
those are the most annoying things i've seen on phone... well except for the default startup and shutdown sounds on all retail phones... when you turn off your phone, isnt because you're somewhere that you should be sure it wont be ringing/vibrating?
but on the other hand i still can't understand why people like to have the keys beep on their regular cell phones when they are txting...
sorry for the rant... i just don't get it

Maybe because we love the bells and whistles a gadget can make, it's all about your custom love that you want to have, not just everyone's universal preference. Some of us love to customize our phones to suit our personality, not just YOURS. Maybe these sounds grab attention of chicks, maybe this wallpaper makes us look cool in the sight of geeks. It's all personal prereference.
That's why I want keyboard Sliding Sounds to work. It's just one more thing that will grab the attention of people to see that, yes, I don't need a new phone every six months or so. I can make a new one using an old one by utilizing hacks.
Alright Peeps, ok, firstly i bought a Charmer (MDA Compact 2 / WM5) it was pink and i decided to change the housing/shell. I opted for the O2 XDA NEO Case as i liked the black, smooth sides, chrome earpiece & Buttons. I know your all thinking why, but i've tried it and every part fits perfectly apart from the button arrangement, I was just wondering if i bought a O2 XDA NEO Keypad which has the exact same connection type as the MDA Compact 2 just the extra 2 buttons, could this work out of the box and recognise all buttons or at least the usual 4 buttons work correctly?, or is there, or could one be made, an application that the buttons could be assigned? please any help would be appreciated, as i love modding my charmer from the wise information within XDA-DEV, your the only site i'd look to for honest answers.
Cheers Bren.
just an opinion, don't go spending money because of it
but from my experience doing similar things with htc smartphones, I reckon it should work, but i doubt it will recognise the extra buttons...
maybe with a cooked ROM?...i don't know.

could there not be some registry tweaks? like adding the buttons manually and moving the others?
i have a button remapping software, but this may be more useless than usefull, i think (it'll probably just move the buttons around) i've bought the shell already and fitted it all buttons work and are in correct place, just the keypad... I'll buy the keypad and fit it coming up to christmas, i'll let you all know the outcome, so if there is any charmers that wish to charm with a prophet/XDA NEO case to the full, i will have the answer.
Any ROM Chefs or Registry Raiders? Help would be appreciated here...
or just shine a little light on the subject.
I think the person who might be able to shed some light is vlodeck, he is a very knowledgeable guy, and he ported gullum's ROM from prophet to charmer

as a mod, he will probably see this thread anyway, and his time is valuable etc etc, so I am definitely not advocating pestering him
....so wait a while but in case it gets missed, FYI in his sig there is a link to PM "if you need help"
*edit, I have no new information right now so I'm not gonna bump this thread but I have to say...
just saw your other thread, and the one word answer;
rtfwplsthx
made me spit coffee all over my monitor as I LOL'd
(translation - read the f***ing wiki please, thanks.)
I understood it, as I've probably spent too much time reading forums like this one recently
Hi guys
I finally read this thread Yes, I do check up the Charmer forums from time to time.
Ok, as to the question. I don't really do the cooking stuff at this time. Basically because I'm not a windows user anymore but there are registry values for soft keys and buttons. I won't tell you were it exactly is right now, but it's there. And taking myself a little in the past I recall some major problems with setting up the keys in WM6 for charmer, you remember it right? Those calendar and contacts buttons were assigned to Start Menu and OK keys, which were unconfigurable, in the registry at least. So my call is, those buttons you want to make work are hardly worth the potential time spent to actually get them working
Hi, the buttons you had trouble with kinda goes with what i want, like you said the bottom two buttons (calendar/contacts) were start menu and ok, as the keypad for the o2 xda neo has start menu and ok as standard bottom two, so that doesn't need changing (that sound like a bonus to me ) the top two will probably get recognised as the answer/endcall buttons (which is not that bad come to think of it, if buttons cannot be configured). its just the two silver answer/endcall present on the xda neo keyboard which probably wont get recognised, and if not, would there be a way in the registry to ADD them, so it would be a little different than altering settings already there? sort of copying all registry settings for one button and adding it alongside another button setting with some configuration.
Thanks Guys...
Well the Buttons worked straight away, charmer to prophet (lookalike)... all the 6 buttons were recognized instead of 4, and all in the right places. thanks anyway.
I dont know if you all are familiar with this program, but its really cool... very simple to some, but adds some flare to any pocket pc. The only problem is that its flawed. The development of this project is done I think and its sad, cause it was almost perfect.
For those that dont know, It is a program that allows you to assign a backlight/display off animation to any button except the power button (which I found a fix for)
However, there are three problems... one... the program is a little bit laggy at times... two... when you do the fix to map it to a power button, it will only shut the display off and will take quite a few pushes of the power button to come back on. Three... it doesnt mesh well with s2u2.
Now, ive looked around and cant seem to find anything else remotely close to it, so I was hoping for suggestions. I mean, Ive read a few threads on here talking about ideas for a newer better interface than anything out there... Well, maybe im a simpleton... but the aesthetics are one of my favorite things about a phone. ie- the cube (even though i rarely use it) emulators on my phone (even though all i play is pacman ) etc... I guess what im hoping is that someone can either finish this nearly perfect app or make a better one... unless one already exists that i dont know about
if you have any ideas, comments, tips, please let me know... and sorry if this title was misleading...
Have had no joy trying to find a solution to this...

Thanks

was browsing their site and didn't find it.....
you can simply pm me about it
honestly no idea where that link came from, sorry
honestly someone must have a solution to this, it must be bugging people....
Bumping indeed, wanting this solution also
I'd like to know this as well... Also the answer button is a waste of space. Why would anyone need it if theoretically it shouldn't be possible to answer a call without finger slide. Sometimes I answer calls by mistake when removing the device from the pouch...
I think this is one of the reasons for my battery depletion. Every time I pull my HD2 out of my pocket, the screen is always on...
This really needs a solution
When taking the phone out of my pocket I have seen it in Opera, other apps and worst of all I heard my pocket talking to me on Monday - pulled my phone out and I had called someone who had been called by me listening to everything I was saying!
As I said this really needs a solution ASAP if anyone can help...

For now you might be better of by using Lock Screen, it can still turn on your phone with any hardkey. But atleast the screen itself is locked so you can't call someone, or start any programs.
I understand lock screen is an option but the simplicity of a one click lock/unlock makes the phone that much quicker to get into and better to use....
we just need a way to disable the other 4 buttons (expect power) from waking the device....
bump...anyone
I would like to know as well.
Also, I want the "answer" and "hang up" hard keys disabled when I receive a call. This made me pickup or ignore call which I did not want to pickup/ignore.
Only solution would be a custom rom with device lock/button lock coocked in it.

Well PocketShield is halfway there. it disables the hangup button nicely, but I can still push the hard pickup button.

But, I really need this trick
Reason4444, do you have .Net 3.5 installed?
Sorry, I couldn't have time to search all threads, but I think there's no one like this.
Any way, I have my HD2 about a year and it's LCD has a three bright spots on the screen. Everything is working OK, but's it's quite ugly. I know it's "only" change the LCD screen to a new one.
BUT the question is: is it possible to change it to an HD7 screen?! The devices hardware are almost the same and it could fix the multitouch problem! (It's a possibility)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The other suggestion is to change the command address to the other hardware key. I know camera button in WP7 devices is a 2 stage button and the first stage is to focus the images and the second is to take the picture, that's for sure.
I was wondering if it's possible the address another hardware key in the stcok camera, like the volume down button, for exemple, to focus image and the green button to take the picture, as it's today.
I know we already have an alternative to the camera software, but I'm quite conservative and I prefer stock programes, what ever... If some dev could try something like this, it would be great and solve this focus camera problem.
Any idea?
This sounds cool. I, myself, prefer stock apps .But we have a problem, there is no spare key for us to map it as a first stage camera button . Unless you are looking right now at the back of your HD2 with cover removed, If you know what I mean .

Ok, I guess I got what you mean. But, if you try to disable the volume down key function when the camera is initiated and remaped it to focus function? Isn't it possible to stock camera software? I guess you would write a "simple" routine to disable it's original function and remap to focus one... isn't it?
The camera one is a possibility I've thought of. We'll need some way of decompiling or editing the camera app though (native code) and re-signing it (I'm just assuming native code is somehow signed).
With regards to the HD7 screen - not a chance.

That's what I thought... But thanks anyway I think HTC wouldn't give us a chance to upgrade our devices just by changing the screen
sorry to go off your topic slightly but couldn't you get your screened fixed under the warranty. I know my hd2 has a 2 year warranty, surely it would cover the screen as long as its down to normal use

Thanks man, but, I forgot saying that here in Brazil we don't have HD2 selling on a store. I bought it from a guy that travelled far far way from here... =/
It doesn't have warranty... I can't send it to someone here because, one more time, we don't have HD2 here in Brazil, so that's no one expert enough with this device and no one that I really trust to make this........ any way, thanks for the advice plus one on ur thanks meter
