Device ID / Device Name

Hi All,
I've had to hard-reset my XDAII about 6 or 7 times now in the past 9months, and after everytime, the computer asks me for a Device Name.
Normally this would be "Pocket_PC".
But for some reason, the computer or XDA won't let you use the same device name as you once used previously.
Why is this and how can I use the same device name in the future without having to change to "Pocket_PC1", "Pocket_PC2", "Pocket_PC3", etc...

it's because the old connection is still located in my doc & settings\application data\activesync or somewhere like that you can
delete it manualy or you can just
use activesync backup and if you hardreset it then you can connect as guest and pick restore from the old connection and you will be using that once more

Error in Microsoft Active Sync

Hi guys
Could anyone help me in this problem??
When I connect the Jasjar to the PC through the cable it appeares this error message:
Critical communications srvices have failed to start . Try resetting the mobile device .and then connect again.
What I did as a solution:
1. Soft reset (nothing happened) same problem
2. Hard reset (it was very bad without backup) still nothing happened
3. Remove Microsoft Active Sync 4.0
4.Install Microsoft active sync 4.1 and the surprise was that same problem still last. In the other hand I can connet the I-mate PDA2K normally .
how can I FIX it please?

Wizard: the telephone is turned off...

My T-MDA VARIO (Wizard) has turn-off the tekephone and I do not want to perform hard reset which shall resolve this issue. Does anybobody know whether it is possible to turn-on the telephone "manualy"?
Other problem I have (may it is related to the previous one) is that some tinmes the following errorr message apears:
it is not possible to run /windows/timewizard.exe.
When I try to run timewizard.exe manually the system says: it is not a PocketPC application...
Any advice?

Booting Magician with least resources (Like Safe Mode !!)

HI Friends
Sometimes it happens that all internal memory is full and after we do a reset , magician nearly hangs either on the boot screen or while trying to show the Today's Links on the main screen
Is there any way to boot the magician with the least resources like safe mode in windows. As i dont have the recent backup of my magician, so i dont want to hard reset the magician which will work but on loss of data.
I tried using active sync, windows 2003 doesnt come to a point where, active sync start.. if it would hv worked i could hv deleted the big file which is creating the booting issue.

Use file explorer and go into windows directory of your device.
There should be a program called : safemode
Load that program and the Pocketpc will retart, while restarting a small window will be displayed, and press the middle button while this is up to load in safemode and not load any plugins you might have installed.

HP iPAQ hx2000 ROM update from WM5 to WM6

Hello, this is my first post on this forum and I did it because I had a problem in updating the ROM for WM5 to WM6 on my HP iPAQ hx2490c. When I start the RUU it goes correctly all the way to updating and I complete all steps that are required for correct updating, but when it starts to update the PDA, my PDA goes blank and automatically disconnect from PC although all applications are closed on it other than ActiveSync which is required for connecting PDA to PC and to install any app on PDA. It remain like this until the process reports an error and after that if I press power button on it, it starts and functions normally, I tried to do it like when process start and PDA get disconnect I reconnect it at the same time but it won't on also I have tried it by disabling all power saving options like hibernation or screen turning off options but result is always the same.
I know that this is very old but I only need to upgrade it to WM6 please help me in this as I want to see WM's and their apps. I have tried every possible link given in your forum but all are broken and files are deleted from servers. If anybody has the file even now, you can send it to my account.
