Micro Drive LOCKED!! No Access! Help request! - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo General

Hi all.
Got a problem I hope you all get help me with. It's not directly my problem as my device is OK. My cousin's Ameo has a fault/problem with his Micro Drive.
I have hard reset his WM5 based Ameo but cannot format the hard drive (MD). I've even flashed the WM6 T-Mob005 ROM to it (doesn't need unlocking before flashing). That all went to plan, but still cannot format the MD. The types of error messages I get are:
1) Unable to access Micro drive...there has been a sharing violation
2) Ensure the Micro drive is not in use...
And many other messages relating to the same thing...the MD is somehow locked and will not allow anything to be deleted from it or written to it. It's similar I suppose to a SD card being manually locked by the little slide button on it.
Anyway I've tried Flash Format, Ontrack Easy Recovery and several other 3rd party apps including SKTools and Pocket Mechanic Pro...all have the same problem but display different messages which mean the same thing...cannot access the MD..or exclusive access denied..please ensure the drive is not in use etc etc...I've tried through various apps to shut down any running processes that relate to any activity on the MD, but as the device was hard reset and flashed with a new ROM, there can be no apps running from the MD as none have been installed to it.
Finally of some importance I believe; It takes along time to delete even the smallest file from the Micro Drive even though a message pops up that access is denied..it deletes it nonetheless. However on resetting the device..all is back on the MD as if nothing had ever been deleted!
Also tried Recover MD and Format MD from the built-in app and tried formatting using the Resco Explorer version. Oh yeah tried various PC tools to format the MD via WM5torage, but to no avail.
I think the MD is screwed (physically), God knows this device of my cousins has been dropped numerous times. LoL, but seriously, if it's not due to misuse, then it can potentially happen to any one of us who have the spinning mechanical MD, hence my determination to resolve it before it happens to me or anyone else.
Anybody here knowledgeable in the area of Micro Drives or even hard drives to shed some light on this problem?
Thanks for any feedback.

More developments!
Another interesting point is that the Micro Drive folder is dated 1/1/98.....under Resco Explorer. Go figure!??!
Still at a loss. Meanwhile Olipro's Athena Unlocker worked a treat from beginning to end and it now has the Dopod U1000 WM6 ROM...so it's fully unlocked...yet the MD issue remains..hmmmmm.

if the microdrive is anything like a hard drive, with spining platters, it wouldnt last very long for day to day use, ive heard of hard drives getting goosed very easily, with a slight knock. I know the ameo is ment to have a fail safe if you drop it. but if yove tried everything you say I would have to guess it was f*ck*d.
I read your post again, I assume the on board software is the same as doing a hard reset with formating the drive!
when you run wm5torage I assume you can see the drive, if youve tried to delete files I assume you can access the drive. Just cant format.
I had the opposite 2 nights ago copying 2 films 1 copyed the other one went through the motion but never got copyed.
a program for the pc that helped me a couple of times was called Swisknife, its like partition magic only free.
I cant think of anything else, ive been out of computers to long now.
Can you copy files from the drive!

Oh well...the journey continues..

Hi johnwalk & thanks for your reply.
All of your assumptions were correct. I can even copy from the MD but not copy to it and it's very slow indeed.
I tried the swissknife app but none of the versions would start up on my PC..hmmm somethings a miss with my PC me thinks.
I managed to delete 'ALL' the files of the MD through WM5torage, but a soft reset of the device puts it all back again. Here I've included a screen-shot of some the crap I saw for the first time today (look at the dates of the files!??! Weird ah?), but it's all gone again now and returned to the normal looking files that I'm trying to get rid of.
Don't worry, I have no expectations, but do appreciate the help you've given me.
Cheers

if you can see the microdrive in windows try and run a program called killdisk on it if you dont care about the data that is on there and after that try and format it. killdisk will write all zero's to the drive killing any data on it. You could also try running scandisk and making it check every sector and try to repair bad sectors if it finds any.

that won't work. and can't.
what I suggest doing is holding the volume slider down and pushing in the reset hole, first perform the device reset, then the microdrive reset.
if that does nothing, go into bootloader and use mtty to issue the following commands;
task 28 55aa
task 28 55aa abcd
task 28 abcd
task 8
see if that gets you anywhere

Thanks for the help mate, but no software can write to the darn MD.

Much appreciate the help Olipro...didn't wanna bother you for a few.....
Nonetheless, it didn't work in formatting the hard drive, only the device.
I swear the things possessed.
The message I get all to frequently after trying to format it is: The Microdrive cannot be formatted, there has been a sharing violation. The Microdrive may be in use.

The picture of your screen shot is what I've had several times on mini sd cards. I can't remember how it happened. im sure it was copying files. of course I could just take out the card. which is of no help here. the first time it happened I was convinced it was the magnet.

mackaby007,
Looking at you screenshot, i can say that ive seen this on my own advantage. I wasn't trying to add/remove any files, just browse the drive. I remember it was bloody slow, too. It wad taking a good minute to show the folder tree every time I browsed to a new folder. Im not sure what caused it, but thankfully, a soft-reset solved the problem.
I know that's not much help to you, but thought it may be a story worth sharing. Hope you get it sorted

Thanks for all your feedback guys, I appreciate it.
Unfortunately, nothing I have tried so far has even come close to working. Well I've got until Saturday to fix it, then my cousin will take it back fixed or otherwise.
Suppose he'll have to invest in a 4GB miniSDHC card until this MD issue can be resolved. Still got to call Hitachi as they have some tools on their website that might help restore the MD.
I'll keep you informed of any developments. Hopefully this is not a common occurrence on Athenas.
Does anyone know if the 8GB miniSDHC cards are available yet? I can only find the 4gig ones.

Same Issue, Same device
Yeh, I've had the same error message but I fortunately had a program on the device that will format the MD. The error message occured when attempting this so I reset the device and went back to the same program and selected the "Restore MicroDrive" function which rebooted the PDA then asked if I want to format the storage card. Tapped "Yes" and all was well.
I have had quite a few problems with this device as I know of at least 20 people who use it and have had either the same problem or similar. For example sometimes, for no reason, all the critical data on the MD becomes corrupt and shows just the "Voices" folder from TomTom6 with "collected.ini" and an obviously corrupted file with a weird filename. Sometimes a few soft resets and fully turning off and on will bring it to a point where simply creating a new folder will bring back all lost folders.
Go figure...hope this post helps.

Mini SD trouble.

Just trying to upload a few files to my 1gb sandisk and found that some files and directories had just become a jumble of characters and after a soft reset my programs that were stored on the card refused to work.
I had the phone reasonably close to my monitor at work on the desk, could that have been the prob or is my card going to die ?
Formatted it on the PC and its back to normal for now. Just re installing everything.
i got the same thing just now. all my games and programs stored on my miniSD card dont work! what the heck?
Is it some form of magnetism interference or power surge or what ? I was plugging my phone into the usb attached to the computer at the time when I first noticed it. Everything had been runnning fine before that.
Hope its not going to keep happening on a regular basis.
It happened to me too, I think it is due to two programs trying to write to the storage card at once, or something reading while some else is writing, or similar.
I wiped mine and fortunately was able to replace most of what was on there (mostly music) but found out afterwards that there was a good chance of recovery.
Try checking out EasyRecovery Professional, there is a free trial I beleive and you should be able to recover files on your card (even if they have been deleted and not yet overwritten).
Hope this helps

Microdrive wiped clean for no aparent reason

Yesterday I was play around with the VGA 144 resolution program and I noticed that on this resolution the contents of my microdrive were showing up really slowly in file explorer.
I uninstalled the program and things were back top normal.
Later I installed a newer version of the CAB for VGA 144 and this time the contents on the microdrive did not show up at all, as if it was empty, which in fact it was!
I do not know what caused this (I don't think it was the change of resolution) but was wondering if anybody else has had this happen?
The threads I have seen so far are that the microdrive is no longer visible as a drive or error messages when trying to access it....

Something similar happened to me and that's why I don't trust the drive. It wasn't with a VGA program, just happened.
I have never lost the microdrive, but something similar happened to me on an SDHC 4GB card. I had been using it only to store CAB files for installed programs but one day it was just 'empty'.
I pulled out the card and hooked it up to my computer, ran scandisk on it and all of the files were there, just seemed to have lost the FAT table as they were all lost files to be recovered. I reformatted the card since I had the files backed up.
I was running VISTA at the time time of the incident and I found that I had been moving files to the card using WM Device Center and I had the SD directory open on my desktop when I undocked my phone. Seems as if it had the FAT table open and and did not like being disconnected with the directory open.
There may be something analogous to this with ActiveSync, but I have never had this happen with another device, just with my U1000. I have been closing WMDC since then and have NO PROBLEMS.
so far this has not happened to me with the microdrive, but it has happened a few times with the sd card, which left me f**ked last week as i had tomtom on it, luckily I downloaded google maps to get me home. but there has to be an answer to why this is happening.

one of the times it happened to me was when copying files, 1 gig card is fine I dont have a 4 gig only two, you may be right about the fat, but I was using windows mobile device centre at the time.
Even though this happened to me personally...YET, I'm expecting it sooner or later. Never did get my cousins MD fixed!!
I hate this MD and not being able to trust it really defeats the object of buying this device in the first place. Looking forward to when we can eventually replace it with something else.
Surley the MD is not bigger than say the technology needed for a Full sized SD card and connections, is it? That would allow us to relatively easily upgrade our storage capacity in the future too.
Anyway, enough dreaming.
My MicroDrive wiped out too...
I was just using RescoExplorer and my x7500 stucked, I soft reseted the device and ALL files in all directories were deled, and the empty directories were there.
I used Pocket Mechanic Professional and did a scandisk and wupti all files was there again but there was about 59000 bad clusters...
Now everything is back to normal..
It happened to me twice last month both times using different s/w! (and I just start using my Advantage in July; basically this was the first time I seriously used this PDA)
The idea was nice but data storage on this MD is totally unreliable. I guess I will not be using it anymore. Even for the none vital files (e.g. music) it is not interesting seeing how much time it takes to load the MD and the ease the data disappears from the MD.
1st time I was using TomTom -on the second day of my holiday- which stopt responding. After a HTC reset TT started up and reported it could not find the Western Europe map (which I put on the MD). When I checked this map directory ALL FILES WERE GONE! Other directories appeared ok. Luckily (I thought) just for leaving on my holidays I added also the individual maps on my MD, so I switched using the Austria map, where I landed at that time. At most 2 hours later again TT froze and at inspection ALL files in the Austria directory had vaporised. Later in the evening I tried to relax from the stress driving with an "old fashioned PAPER map" and put on some music. Halfway the first number the music stopped and -you guess it right- ALL 40+ CD's were disappeared. At that time I ran Pocket mechanic 'scan disk' which reported that the FAT tables did not match (and it could not repair). Next I could not find my MD at all anymore, followed the next day by the complete HTC not being able to startup anymore after a reset (the today screen was only showing half and this part was flashing: the HTC also did not respond anymore to the h/w buttons or almost any command via the screen).
When I returned home from this first stage of my holidays (, I hard-reset the HTC after which everything returned to normal including the MD that reappeared.
After 1 week at home I was to leave for the second stage of my holidays and I prepared by putting this time all nescesary TT maps on the SD. I spend quit some hours putting some 40+ CDs again on the MD. ( I can only copy ~3 CD's at a time otherwise it aborts somewhere).
The FIRST TIME I listened to some music I started a Bowie CD and half way the first number suddenly it switched to a Stones number (no, nothing to do with 'dancing in the street'). After inspection of the MD there were already only 2 (screwed up) MP3 files left -in the root- on the complete MD!!
The MD is still in this state -and I just ran scan disk again- and appearently there is again a problem with the FAT only this time with lost clusters.
If it where not for the fact that during this 2nd trip of 4200km/2700mls over curvy B-roads TomTom gave me no troubles at all, the internal GPS worked flawless and the BlueTooth A2DP worked perfectly with my "home-made" BT helmet (for this I bought this HTC) I would have been seriously disappointed in the Advantage. As it is now I am actually quit happy with it, except for the inconvienence of not being able to use the MD.
So yes, it happened to me too: twice.
Petition for recall?
Do you guys think it's time to petition HTC for a recall of the MicroDrive? I have no idea how something like this will work but based on the feedback on the forum...there are waaaaaaaaaaaaay too many people having problems with the MicroDrive. Those that use it seriously have problems.
I myself don't have time as most of my time is being spent on the Athena Project ROM but maybe someone else can help in the matter.
What do you guys think? A massive communication effort to HTC to find out what the heck is going on here? We paid wayyyy too much money for them to think we'll be happy with what we have if there is one or two faulty parts. The one part that keeps failing us is the MicroDrive and I think it's time to get a few answers. It's our right as the consumer and get answers and the quality product that we anticipated.
I totally agree and was just trying to report my problems -including the link to this forum/thread- on the HTC site.
HTC however seems a little bit e-mail shy. Last time I checked I could not find any e-mail link at the HTC site, now I could find one but everytime when I submit my message I get a popup 'the system is experiencing some problem, please try again at a later time'.
I try again later.
scruued up
so suddenly yesterday i was just using my athena and i had this Vista Theme on Wisbar Advance running....and the device just got stuck at windows live sign-in window and the phone first just restarted but then again got stuck and the "Windows Mobile" window wich appears at the start and then wen i manually resetted it....EVERYTHING was WIPED OUT!!!...BUT everything on the device remained like the wisbar theme it asked me to install and all but on the MICRODRIVE...everything just....VANISHED!!!
I was on holiday in the u.s.a in July, and had tomtom installed (on the MD, no more room on the card), all of a sudden, it froze while driving, had to pull over and found that my usa maps had been wiped! luckily I also had igo installed with some usa maps and was able to continue my holiday without having my head stuck in a paper map, thanks for the dodgy MD HTC!
Yes, this happened to me - both the sd card and md are equally unreliable. At the moment,I install everything on my md simply because it is way way faster than the sd card. I don't use my sd card at all now, although I have two of them.
When you copy files using wm5torage, avoid starting a new copy before the one before completes. Similarly, do not use the device while copying is going on , although the system does not stop you. What I observe is that there is a higher chance of corruption when I don't observe these practice.
I used to think that md is less reliable than sd. Now I don't think that anymore. I think they are equally unreliable.

Which Tomtom version are you using? do you have WM5 or WM6? What is your Rom version?
Guys, is there a way to easily reproduce the problem in MicroDrive and SD so we can pass it to HTC and hopefully get a solution?
My new Advantage is less than 24 hours old and I too have had the Microdrive come with garbage while trying to move videos files from my PC to the PDA. I have formatted it and reloaded it, so wish me luck!!
Exactly the same story here - 7501 (WM6) less than 24 hours old.
- unable to accessed until formatted
- sometimes not showing directories/files until a soft reset
- returning messages like 'disk full or write protected' when copying from desktop
The worst of it is losing a 126Mb wmv file during one of these false 'disc write protected/full' events.
There has to be a serious issue with the OS that has to be fixed.
How do we build a poll of users with this problem?
Folks,
I have a reply from a message I sent to [email protected] last week:
Hello Bart,
Thank you for taking the time to contact HTC regarding the problems you are having with your HTC Advantage device.
Bart, we regret to see that you are having problems with the micro drive in your HTC Advantage device. If you could forward us several examples of other users having the same issues, we will forward them to our product development team for resolution. Please forward me the following information for each example:
* Serial Number
* IMEI
Identity
* OS Version -
* Radio Version -
On receipt of enough examples for these issues, we will be able to prioritize the resolution of this problem.
How can we collect this information so we can provide a united front to HTC?
Do we need a moderator to post a 'sticky' message at the top of this forum?
Btw to get this info
* Serial Number
- inside the battery compartment door flap
* IMEI
- inside the battery compartment door flap
or
- Start >> Seetings >> System Tab >> Device Infomation icon >> Identity
* OS Version -
- Start >> Seetings >> System Tab >> Device Infomation icon >> Version
* Radio Version -
- Start >> Seetings >> System Tab >> Device Infomation icon >> Version
Thanks
Bart
I'd like to contribute...
Did we get anywhere with this issue with HTC? I think it's a great idea, at least for the principle of the thing, to get them working on this (even if someone else can solve the problem better and faster). We could each submit a tx, but creating the "petition" for help that they seem to want would at least get some results. My reservation would be that we would be suckered into what seems like manipulative behavior on their part. After all, they are not government and we are not lobbyists.
I'm working on fixing it myself, but why are they releasing stuff I have to fix out of the box? If we can't get them to spend thier money & time fixing this stuff, we'll keep getting crap we have to fix, right? So where do we go from here? Anywhere?
I only get flaky when I'm on 128dpi
My MD seems to work acceptibly well on either 192 or 96, it's when I shift to 128 that things start to disapear, etc.
Hmmmm. Would, perhaps, this be a result of lame drivers?

Help for FAT Corruption on MicroDrive
I experienced same Prob's in the past and was struggeling to get this fixed.
Switch off Device by pressing On/Off Button for several seconds.
when Off, take out the battery for about 30 seconds or so, then re-insert the Battery, switch on Ameo/Athena again by pressing On/Off for some seconds. After that, Microdrive should reappear....
next steps....
First: I recovered my lost data with Ac[email protected] by connecting my T-Mobile Ameo (DE) via WM5Storage and USB Connection to my WinXP-based Laptop. In most cases the Directory names are lost, but the DataFiles were recovered perfectly in shape.
Second: after having recovered the Contend of my MDrive, I reformated the Microdrive via WinXP Explorer right-click menu 'Format'. Choose FAT32 as Format, do NOT use quick format, as it will not really hit all sectors with reformat.
Third: After Soft-Reset on the Ameo/Athena go to all Applications and set configuration to NOT storing anything on MicroDrive. Use SD-Card or Device Mem instead.
Forth: Switch off Device by pressing On/Off Button for several seconds.
when Off, take out the battery for about 30 seconds or so, then re-insert the Battery, switch on Ameo/Athena again by pressing On/Off for some seconds.
Well, you are now done.
You may now reconfigure any Application to use Microdrive for Storage, but do it Step by Step. Until Now, I can not tell,if any and/or which Application had impact in the past. I reactivate step by step, 1 App per week, to check...
...Until now, my MicroDrive is perfectly in a healthy state...
AND Very important !!! It looks like the Build-in Microdrive Format Tool does not work correctly. Low level checks after formating with this tool did show problems with the FAT-Tables. some tools show FAT12 (which can not address 8GB fully), some show FAT16 (Can address 8GB, but is not supported from most OS), some show FAT32 (which is best choise for that size)
SO, my conclusion is to NOT use MicoDrive Format Tool at all....
Till now, it's paying off for me....
Update from years later......
some additional infos: To prevent ocassional corruption look a likes(see below), disable any auto startup routines from Navigation Software(e.g. TomTom, Navigon) to be found on SD-Card or elsewhere and mainly located in Dir called 2577. Those may interfere with the initialisation of the MD and then, Directory of the MD shows some very strange File and directory names.
If you prevent the autostarts, after switching the device totally off(holding Power button some seconds) and switch on again, this will recover to the original Data, Names und Files on the MD.
I found this, due to the fact, that after this corruption look a like, the Memory Page of Taskmanager still showed the original number of used space on the MD. so I started to do some try and error.....
Well, taking both steps, Format and disable Autorun, I haven't had a corruption sign since now more than one year....

UweWeber,
This is a good post. Thanks for your good effort.
This [email protected] thingy. Is it a software that runs on the PC side? Where can I get this software?
Keep up the good work, mate.
Great "step by step".
So am I getting it right that for people who don't yet have a problem with their Ameo MD, to prevent problems they should reformat at FAT32 in XP? ie start the step by step from step 2.
Great!
What Wm5 storage version are you using (1.73, 1.75,...) ?
Currupted MD - No Way
i'm using V1.73.
I would not recommend to format perfect working MDrive. Think that it's formated correctly in Factory.
Mine has worked fine in the beginning, until..., I have reformated it, because that looked faster to me than deleting 12000 files by hand from it. That was the point, where trouble started....

Great post. This is the one part of the X7501 (WM6) I felt was the greatest let down.

I was hoping to make clear to all (and to me) your instruction to " go to all Applications and set configuration to NOT storing anything on MicroDrive."
1) Did you mean go to 'Settings', 'System', 'Storage Manager' then select the Mirdodrive (Dsk1) then properties then unmount?
2) Do you now always use WM5Storage and USB to load or remove items from the Microdrive?
3) Have you ever not been able to open 'Storage Manager' - damn thing won't open now - even after a warm reset
Thanks for the tips - here''s hoping!
X7501 -- MicroDrive corruption
Fixerboy,
never told to to do anything like...unmounting MDrive...Ok. it's an Application, yes, ok - Addition to the post (UweWeber) please do not tell WM5Storage to not use Microdrive....
BTW: after Weeks of testing, no Application was the source of corruption, it was just the wrong formated MDrive...since it was formated in FAT32, no more probs...
Just updated now to WM 6 , no probs ....

restoring data after a hard reset

Hello,
I had a problem with my phone, after removing some software I found that my phone wouldn't restart, (this think this might have been due to lack of space on the programs memory as I had a lot of stuf installed). it'd just stick on the windows mobile screen.
the only way that I could find to get it working again was a hard reset, (soft resets wouldn't work, it just hung on the windows mobile screen).
so, I turned it off, and turned it back on again held down the two buttons, waited till it asked me if I wanted to format and pressed send to ok this...
now the pone works, but i've lost all the data that was on it (expected).
is there any file recovery software that anyone knows of as I'd like to try to recover my old text and mms messages as well as some pictures and documents that were stored on the phone.
Many thanks,
Danny.
Well you are a bit late on this one. The time to install recovery software is before you need it. It can only recover what you have backed up. A hard reset is essentially a total erase and reset but I suspect you knew that. I use Sprite Backup and have several years of excellent results with it. SPB also makes a good backup program. Both are well worth the money and should actually be the first thing you install on your phone.
I've not heard of anyone recovering data from a hard reset. This is actually why most users keep the bulk of their data on the memory card. Good luck.

What he said...or she. I'm not bored enough to look you up, Zoltar, but that seems like a masculine name to me. I certainly wouldn't name my daughter Zoltar, for example...my son, on the other hand, would do well to respect me in the fact that I didn't give him a weird name.
Getting back to the issue. Forewarned is forearmed. Get yourself an SD card, and a backup tool. It's too late for this round (read: you're screwed), but there's bound to be a next time, if you're hanging around on this site. Also, keep your contacts synced to a computer, and copy the most critical ones to your SIM card, as well. It won't make them appear twice, and it's much easier to get contacts from SIM back onto a to phone than the other way around. At least this way, if you have to do a hard reset in the field, you don't lose those critical numbers.
K bye,
Myrddin
Jeez....talk about silly names....

well...
I usually say that backups are someting that you tell other people to make whilst believing disaster will never strike you.
anyway... my stuff was backed up to a memory card, but the memory card stopped being recognised by the phone last week,
I've read several stories online about cards doing this. seems that they loose their formatting as the card now can't be read in a card reader and shows up as not formatted. now I'll get may card reader out and see if I can recover some of the data using data recovery software.
Also, I did take backups of my messages using PIMbackup... only after it was too late did I read the developers site telling me that media messages are not backed up because the media part of the message is an attachment.
so I'm left with the end result that my backups are not worth the effort i put into making them.
OK, looking at it from a different angle.
if there is no recovery software that can be run on the phone, is there any way that the phone can be recognised as a fat partition to a computer? then I could just scan the partition with regular tools that would be used to recover data from a normal hard drive.
I am looking for solutions of this kind also...
my PC to see my xda as an accessible fat partition so that i can scan it with a recovery application.. or ..
a recovery application written fro Windows Mobile
dose any one have answers?
thanks

It is not too late!
I was able to recover most of my files, after performing a hard reset, using Raise Data Recovery (ufsexplorer.mobi)

phone has become abnormally slow, and hangs often.

i am a ardent fan of this site and a regular visitor since i brought my htc touch hd, i am living in Australia bought the phone when i went to India last month. this is my very first windows mobile, the phone was working like a charm till the time i accidentally reset the phone by clicking clear storage. i thought it was like emptying the recycle bin in windows vista, the phone asked me to type the numbers from 1 to 4 which i did and everything changed from that time. the phone is abnormally slow and often hangs, leting me down when i need it. of late i am not able to sync the phone with the system as it is not getting recognized my sd card.ophra does not work as like most of the applications. i tried to format my 8 gb sd card which came along the phone, but the fate is still the same. will a hard reset help me?
my rom is: 1.18.707.3(23358) wwe
radio version: 1.09.25.14
i am a novice person as far as phones are concerned, i don't meddle with it
help in this regard is much appreciated.
regards,

Yes, you should try a hard reset. Remember to backup any data that you have entered in the phone, hopefully you will be able to sync to do that. If I understand, you deleted the 'internal storage', am I right? Maybe some programs are storing executables, DLL files or other stuff there and all of them stopped working when you 'cleared' storage. Btw, where is that 'clear storage' option in the menu?
It's in System Settings I think.
Isn't Clear Storage a hard reset?
yeah its the one found in settings under the tab system, i think i did a hard reset by do it. thats what i found from the forums, while i was reading a few hours back. i dont know what to do now, also read it some where that installing .net 3.5 and change the settings using a reg editor, later install sd card tune up cab will improve the performance considerably. which registry editor do you suggest? thanks for your replies....
I had similar issue with my Touch HD, but it happend after i took a picture (one of many) with the camera. I did a hard reset, but that did not help. Try removing the SD card, because in my case the problem was that something had gone wrong with that picture and the phone could not read it properly and display it in the Photos and Videos section ot the TouchFlo 3D (or at least that what I think was the reason ). Anyway, that worked for me - glad if it works for you too.
P.S. Forget to mention that after deleting that picture (with SD card reader - I could not do it in the File Explorer on Touch HD) everything went back to normal.
omg i solved my problem atlast....... thanks to all who gave me suggestions about this problem. i hard reset the phone after formating my sd card. now the phone runs like a wild horse...faster than before.
Good to hear.......Now jump on that sucker and get moding......yeeeeeehaaaaaaaaaa
