Has anyone got an activesync version for ubuntu/linux?
Cheers

sync
The ability to sync Palm-based devices with Linux has existed for quite a while. However, as the popularity of Windows-based Pocket PCs increases, there's a growing need to be able to sync data from a computer running Linux with the Pocket PC--without using Windows.
The SynCE Project is working on exactly that. It works with Linux, FreeBSD, and similar operating systems.
While the project is still somewhat in its infancy, a number of add-ons and tools exist that work with popular desktops, such as GNOME and KDE. In addition, several plug-ins are available that work with programs such as Evolution. However, it's unlikely that many distributions bundle SynCE, so you may need to do some compiling.
You can download SynCE from the SynCE Project's Web site. This Web site also sports a number of documents and tutorials to help walk you through the compile stage. In addition, you can download packages specifically for Red Hat, Fedora, or Debian, or you can build it using emerge on Gentoo.
Another useful tool is MultiSync, which synchronizes PIM data between GNOME-based systems and a Pocket PC. While MultiSync can handle other devices such as the Sharp Zaurus, Palm, and others, it also works with the Pocket PC, provided you use the SynCE plug-in for MultiSync. This program handles the synchronization between Evolution and the Pocket PC, allowing you to synchronize calendars, to-do lists, and contacts.
If you're a KDE user, you can use the KitchenSync tool to synchronize KDE PIM information with your Pocket PC, using the SynCE libraries to handle the connection.

Access to Oracle from PPC

Is it possible to access Oracle server from Pocket PC (Windows CE)?
If so what tools I need for?
I'm developing PPC application which one should be able to read from/write to an Oracle server.
Many thanks in advance.

Accessing Apple Remote Desktop (3.1) from a Windows Mobile device (Pocket PC)

Has anyone been able to properly communicate with Apple Remote Desktop (3.1) from a Windows Mobile device (Pocket PC)?
I can succesfully communicate with Apple Remote Desktop from my Windows XP desktop PC through the Real VNC client (be it with full resolution hence slow), but none of the Windows Mobile versions (Mocha, Real VNC, vnc viewer etc.) seem to allow connection (even though Apple advertises them) on my Athena running WM6 (original HTC Europe rom)...
I have no problem accessing the Mac through ftp from my mobile device and Real VNC on my Windows Mobile device allows me to perfectly control Windows PCs.
Any suggestions/help?
Or should I switch to VNC on all platforms?
Thanks in advance for your views.
You have to explicitly state on your Mac that VNC applications can access it in your sharing preferences.
I ticked that option, entered a password.
I can access the Mac from WinXP, where I use Real VNC (full color only way to access hence slow), but I can`t seem to do that from WM...
What software are you using on WM to access your Mac?
puTTY. I don't dare try to use a 400MHz device with 64MB of memory and a 320x240 screen to access a 1680x1050 screen. If you are familiar with Terminal, using SSH is a much better way to access your Mac.
In VGA mode it is not super, but I want just to be able to (quickly) do some checking...
I am not really familiar with terminal and SSH on the Mac unfortunately.
If you have any (links to) information or suggestions on settings, software etc., that would be extremely nice.
Thanks for your help so far!!
kind regards,

remote desktop without logging out of windows

sooo, i was wondering if there was a way that instead of logging me out of windows when i use remote desktop that i can actively connect at the same time as my admin login?
kind of like how with logmein you can see what's happening on the screen?
thanks guys!
use one of the VNC implementations (there are some ppc clients and many XP servers)
vnc, i've read about that here in the forums.
alright, i;ll definately give that a shot, thanks so much.
and which programs do you guys suggest?
Google for "xp sp2 beta remote desktop multiple". Hit the first link. Won't go into too much detail here, but sp2 beta allowed multiple sessions in the way that you want, which was removed for the full product.
I hope this does not breach forum rules as we do this sort of thing on mobile devices daily - i.e. moving dll files from different devices/OS versions to other ones. If so, then I apologise and do please delete this post
I use the VNC with PT pocket office from http://www.parystec.demon.co.uk/PT_software.htm
Works great on UTMS/GPRS/WiFi

How to synchronize my Charmer with a Linux OS?

Hey,
How to synchronize my Charmers entries (phonebook, calender) with my Ubuntusystem?
I tried several ways like multi/opensync with USB or Bluetooth, but nothing works. Is where any way to get a synchronization between my Computer and MDA to work?
Greetz from ausgestorben
Ps.: Excuse my bad english skills. i will work on it.
from the offsite :
MultiSync is a free modular program to synchronize calendars, addressbooks and other PIM data between programs on your computer and other computers, mobile devices, PDAs or cell phones. MultiSync works on any Gnome platform, such as Linux.
Currently MultiSync has plugins for
* Ximian Evolution synchronization, supporting calendar, ToDos and contacts. Multisync also support Evolution 2
* IrMC Mobile Client synchronization (supported by e.g. SonyEricsson T68i/T610/Z600, Siemens S55 phones etc.) via Bluetooth or IR on Linux, or cable connection.
* Windows CE / Pocket PC synchronization. This plugin is part of the SynCE project, and can be downloaded there.
* Opie and Zaurus synchronization.
* SyncML support (supported by e.g. SonyEricsson P800/P900 and many other phones and devices, for example the SyncML server Sync4j). SyncML also allows you to do remote connection of two MultiSync programs via an encrypted connection over the net.
* Palm synchronization.
* LDAP synchronization.
* Backup of your PIM data.

[REQ] Netlimiter 2 Client

Is it possible to create a WM6 program which resembles the windows client and will allow for remote administration?
I've already asked the company which produces the application and they will not be producing a client for Windows Mobile. The reason for me requesting this app is because i often use my netlimiter client on my PC to occasionally restrict my brother's usage(god, he downloads so much random stuff at the worst times! >_<) and it would be more convenient to do it via my pda.
Btw, if you dont know what Netlimiter is, it is a windows program designed to limit connection speeds on specific applications or processes. It allows for remote administration which basically lets you manipulate or monitor other computers connections and apply restrictions where necessary. (See Link!! its a good app XD)
