My power button doesnt work, and when it goes into standby theres no way to bring it back.I tried to change the button options to do not lock keys and it doesnt work.Somebody told me it as a software problem, ive hard reset and ti still doesnt work
If you press and hold the power button does it ask you if you want to shut the phone down? If it does, then it may just be a software problem and if doing a hard reset doesn't fix it, you might try flashing whatever ROM it is that you have on there over again and see if that fixes it. If it doesn't ask you if you want to shut down, it might be that the button went bad and hopefully for your sake you're still under warranty.

It more than likely is...I had this problem when I had bought my MDA from a friend used. The power button didnt work at all, so I had no way to turn on or off. Have you tried flashing a custom ROM yet? Once I had flashed to one of mfrazzz's ROMs, that fixed the whole issue.

Hi Newbie here.
My XDAii has just recently started to do a hard reset every time i press the power button. I have updated the rom but this still happend. Please can someone help.
Kind regards Nick
The first thing I would do would be to make sure that your soft reset switch (the one you poke the stylus into) isn't stuck in IE you may have pressed it at some stage and it hasn't un-pressed. If this is still in, and you press the power switch, it might hard reset.
No the sort reset switch is ok. but doesnt do any thing. i have replaed the switch but it still doesnt do any thing??
I having a problem with my Hermes, i am running WM6.1 CRC13.3 and my Power button simply refuses to work, i simply does nothing when i press it, i thought it could be a hardware problem, but if i turn off hermes(by taking the battery out, since the power button doesn't work) and put the battery back, it instantly turns on itself on without pressing power button... When the phone is in stand-by mode, i have to press the button next to the Power to wake it... the power button simply does nothing... However then i take the battery out, and press Power+OK and put the battery back, it goes to the booloader screen, so the Power button physically appears to work.... I haven't tried to hard reset it yet...
does this happen with other roms to?
i does not reflash you device with an original rom then flash you current rom, this kind of weird bugs appear when flashing wm6+++ roms.
mine used to self reset when i soft reseted.
No, i flashed this rom a couple of months ago and never experienced this issue...till now..

similar to my then.nevertheless , do what i posted above ,at the same time you can check if the power button works with the original rom.
So I have this hd2 that I have to send by Monday to my brother. I bought this phone for 160 and I was told the end / power key does not work. There was also a pass lock on the phone. Now I could somewhat survive without the end button but I needed to hard reset or erase all memory from the phone to get rid of the password... but I can't do that because the stuck power button won't let me do that. I managed to get past the password via hspl, but I know also realized the the volume up button doesn't work either. Now when I said the end button doesn't work I meant that it wouldn't wake up when I press it, nor will it shut off... and when I put in the battery it turns on by itself, I don't even need to press anything. So I am guessing the problem is the flex cable is always pushed in... I cannot ship it to HTC because I flashed it and the warranty is gone, and every repair shop doesn't know what I am talking about.... please help me and tell me what to do this is very urgent.
I appreciate all the help,
Danny
i think the flex ribbon is damaged!
there are easy to source, try ebay
volume button, im not sure
Thank you for the help, but its to vague... I also heard its very tough to open the hd2
you can easily flash your stock spl via hspl2..just run it and select your stock spl.
stock rom and radio can also be flashed (you have to perform this before, because you cant flash via sd card).
take it to htc...wheres the problem?

Hi guys, this is my fourth day having a Dash 3G(used), but my question is, is it normal to need to press the button and hold it more than once, just to get it to turn on? What if i have to keep pressing it to turn off? My phone may not turn on/off consistently on the first press. Is this normal?
How long are you pressing the button?
I'm not sure if the Dash is the same as the Maple/Snap (which I have), but I find to turn it on, I just press the button once, (don't need to hold it down).
To turn it off, the power/hang-up button must be pressed for 3 seconds.
If it's taking longer for you, either the Dash is programed like that, or the button's contact may be loose.
Thanks for the reply, the User manual for the Dash 3G says(it says the same thing to turn it on/off), "Press the END/POWER button for a few seconds". I'll try out turning the phone on and off more.
I don't know if it would be different if I put a different rom on it, it's on the T-Mobile rom

Doubt that would make a difference. To help you shut-down, you can use an app, and add a Speed Dial shortcut to it (so you can long-press one of the numbered buttons to shut-down).

The last 2 look nicer, but I'm not sure if they'll work on the Dash (i.e. non-touchscreens).
Thanks, if it could be a hardware problem, could this be fixed/worth fixing? Or do you think I should return it? I put a custom rom on it, if I were to return it I would try to put the stock rom back on it.

If you got the phone recently enought that you could still return it, you should be able to get it fixed (or exchanged if it can't be fixed). Whether its worth it probably depends on how much you find it a bother, how much effort you've put into personalizing the phone so far, and whether it's worth your time to reinstall the stock rom, and re-personalize the next one.
If it not returnable or under warranty, then I'm guessing it wouldn't be worth it.
I don't know, It's not too bad I guess, if any problem at all. It might possibly be a matter of if i'm pressing the button hard enough.
Hi All,
I need your quick help, I dont know why but I cannot start my Samsung focus v1.3.
I tried to flash it by pressing power button + volume down + camera button but can't do hard reset.
When I am trying to remove battery and reattach battery again, then phone just showing "SAMSUNG" screen and again goes switched off.
Even I tried to press power button + volume UP + camera button then it shows only "Download Mode" screen only nothing happens after this.
Please need your help!
Many thanks in advance,
Since you just flashed it, I assume that it started up by displaying 'SAMSUNG" and seems to be stuck there.
If that is the case, you need to be patient. It takes a few minutes to get past that point. Every time I flash, I feel like I have done something wrong and the phone is bricked. But it always moves past that point after a few minutes.

Thanks for your reply,
But I haven't flashed my phone..
and from yesterday it is showing same 'SAMSUNG' name screen and then again goes switched off..
dont know what is going wrong.. or is it due to battery issue?
please help!
nah, it's the power button switch which somehow got stuck, it's a relatively common issue with the focus it seems
some people have reported that cleaning the button helps, others simply have replaced the whole switch at a local repair center... do what you think is best

help
To flash magldr, you need that combo , press power button + volume UP + camera button then it shows only "Download Mode". To flash a ROM, you go Vol DOWN, and then reset your phone, or format, and then go back to the same menu, and when you see the do you want to format your phone stuff, you hit the back button and you'll see the magldr screen where you'll connect your USB and go forward with the flashing process. Perhaps try flashing an actual ROM to your phone. You can't really do squat from from the download screen but add magldr really. Hope that helps you.

because download mode disables the power switch (it even says "do not turn off"), that's why it seems to "work". power switch is active at the format prompt, however, so when you enter that mode the phone turns off immediately afterwards
do a little experiment: remove the battery, then put it on again while you're pressing volume down plus camera... you'll probably see a little surprise there
it's the switch. go repair that nao
