I bet you never seen Sound & Notification under Settings.
To change the sound, just go Settings - Sound & Notifications - Notifications tab - Drop down Event menu to Phone: Missed Call - You can then change alarm sound here.

Maybe there is a way to do this, but I'm not aware - does anyone know of a way to enable alarm even when teh phoen is on vibrate or on silent? (this came to me because I set the phone to silent and forgot to turn I was late for work today)
enAlarmPPC
When you mean an application for alarms, then you should really take a look at enAlarmPPC. You can simply force a volume, and it will play sound even if in "vibrate" or "mute".
awesome... I think that's exactly what I need. Thanks
i use vibrate mode all the time, but don't like the fact that it silences your phone. But this is what i have found:
Instead of going into vibrate mode through comm manager or through a "profile" (like from the HTC Touch Today plugin), go to settings and then select Sounds and Notifications. Select Notification tab, and from the drop down menu select Phone: Incoming call and select vibrate. When you do this, your phone vibrate when there is an incoming call but is not silenced for other functions of the phone like alarms, music, etc.
Disadvantage is that it is not 1 simple step, so if you back and forth between ring and vibrate it is not ideal, but if you set it on vibrate all the time like me, it is ideal.

You could probably Mortscript it...
yea, the thing is I always change to vibrate when I'm at work/quiet areas and I'd liek to have a simple profile change button that changes it to a vibrate + ringer.

Give PhoneAlarm a try! Then you can create profiles.
I agree, PhonaAlarm solves it all!!
Hello people,
I have a bit of a problem with my sms sound on my HD. I dont get any sound notifications when a new SMS comes. I have enable sound, under settings, sound and notifications i have checked Play Sound and selected a builtin one. Vibration is off. Any ideas of what maybe the problem?

Hey guys,
as it turned out the Ring sound level is only for the ringing tone. I had ring level on maximun while system level was off. I raised the system volume and the sms sound was back on. I dont know if this applies to the rest of you but give it a shot. Thanks for your replies.
If i set an alarm, and pick a sounds for it like "alarm-snooze" (one of the louder ones) when it comes time for the alarm, it pops up on the device with a single little high pitched "alert" beep, but does not play the alarm sound i selected.
This is a huge problem for me as i use my phone for my waking up alarm, and that tiny beep doesnt wake me up -
why isnt it using the alarm sound i have selected?
Does anyone else see this?
any way to fix?
Thanks
I have noticed the same issue two times now. Last night and this morning when I had to wake up to work. Didn't sound the alarm I separately choosed. It didn't actually play any sound at all although it wasn't in silent mode whatsoever.
go to settings>sounds and notifications and check the first option too, then go to the tab notifications (the right tab), choose event: Reminders and uncheck playing the sound. You can leave the show messega on the screen if you like to.
you're describing donig it thru the "all settings" area, to do it through the HTC settings apps...
go to
Settings > Sound & Display
then select "Notification Sounds"
then set "Reminders" to OFF
It will then play the Alarm sound we selected
Thanks for the tip! its rubbish that the tiny reminders "bip" takes precedence over the Alarm sounds we select!

You are both correct...
Chris, although they are 'generic', the function can be performed either from hyellow method or yours.
btw.. what is your field of medicine?
Haha, sorry I'm not a medic, research physicist

I had the diamond and the HTC Pro2 before and whenever I got a ring that I don't want, I just press on one of the volume buttons and it will mute the ring, but in the HD2, I remember it was working at the begininning but after some installation or tweak I lost it and even the mute ring button on screen is not working any more, does anybody know how to fix this. Thanks

Both actions should mute the ring. Try the third option. Flip over the phone to face it down. It also mutes.
I also have this issue but on text messages.. I have a song as the ringer for a text.. the ringer wont stop unless i actually open the message that was received. =(
If i get one txt after another, both songs overlap

Thanks for reply.. However, to those considering using a shorter sound as an sms. if the mp3 sound is to short or file size to small, the phone wont pick it up, it wont even appear as an option to use as a ringer.
in that case use wma or wav files. the alarms that come built in are around 50k wma files.
Another observation was that if you fo to Setting> All Setting> Sound & Notifications.. Notifications tab, Select Incoming Message, and select Display Message on Screen.. Then the ringtone will only sound for 3-5 secons...
Just FYI..
Is there any way to make vibrate and then ring for income calls?
yea I would like to know the same thing. It's a great feature to have and i don't understand why they didn't have it on originally.
not a practical solution could be by adding 3 seconds of silence in the beginning of your mp3 ring tone file

That could be a good solution. Thanks.
I have seen some apps in the market to add the vibrate then ring, as "RingMaster-Ringtone". Anyone has tested it?
