I set my trinity to provide my caller id 'Only to Contacts' but I was finding that some people who I dialled from my contacts were saying that my name came up as 'private caller'. Has anyone else found this problem? (I am on Vodafone) Am I doing something wrong?

I have some contacts saved in my contact list, but when that person calls. It showed up unknown caller. I tried to deleted that number and save it again. But it still shows unknown caller. Some other contacts are fine. Anyone had this problem and has a solution? Is there anything to do with restore? I did a restore recently.
don't know if it helps, but try to save the numbers with the country prefix in the contact.
for example in France here, I save them as +33654321 instead of 0654321, cause I had the same problem some time ago
This doesn't have anything to do with the Wizard - if the Wizard shows "unknown caller" it means that the caller's phone doesn't send the number (the caller can change that, depending on the SIM card - and the caller can also tell the telecom provider of his home phone whether he wants his number to be sent when calling!)...
No way to change that for you, sorry!
I have tried adding the prefix, but still doesnt work!
The number from the caller is not hidden, because the number is displayed, but not the name in the contact list.
for example:
Incoming call
'Unknown Caller'
0709XXXXXX
I have tried to delete and save the contact again, but still the same!!

Not sure if this helps. I had the same experience with my other phone (not Pocket PC type), which shows unknown caller even I'm very sure I had his number on my phone, I deleted the number and put it back again, same problem. AND, after all the stuggle, I've finally noticed the problem, which is the fact that I had his name entered twiced (e.g. two contacts, different name with same number). The phone probably got it confused and refused to display a name.
I would suggest, that you remove your problematic contact, try dialing his number on the keypad, and see if the name appears (e.g. the other possible contact that has the same number). If not, then it is not this problem, I guess.
Was about to say, I got this problem, turned out to be a duplicate contact - the phone can't decide who it is, so displays nothing. Pfff.
Be nice if it displayed a list of possible contacts, but...
Delete any duplicate contacts and it should go away.

OIn my old phone (Artemis) when I received a call from a phone number (lets say 07760 123456) it would sometimes show as +447760 123456 and sometimes as 07760 123456. This happens on my Touch HD, however contacts doesn't resolve the Caller's name and picture to the number unless it "EXACTLY" matches the saved number....
Has anyone else come across this.....it used to resolve irrespective of the +44 of 0 start.
i think it shows the number, and if it matches a number in the phonebook it shows the name, thats why theres sometimes a delay before the name shows up when someone calls you.
is the phone running slow at all? or do you have a zillion contacts? maybe thats it...?
Only have about 50-60 contacts. It's very weird.....has anyone else had this issue at all?
Tried the various fixes through registry edit (tried changing Callidmatch to 7,8,9,10,11,12...) No joy - no help from HTC either. It DID work ok before so I know it can. . . Have tried hard and soft resets, including soft resets after each change of resetting calleridmatch. Hoping someone posts a fix that works,,,,,,,
I was going to suggest you try using Advanced Config and change Call ID match to 9 or 10, but you appear to have already done this through reg editing
You might check what I wrote in this post.
Also check that ALL numbers are consistent... space can cause havoc for caller ID...
If somebody calls me or send me a text message I don't see the name of the person who is sending/calling. I added the person in my list on the simcard and on the phone. But still i can't see there names, only the number.
Somebody knows to fix this problem?

I needed to change my caller ID settings on my phone, but after I did that, I found that I couldn't dial out. I chose the setting for blocking caller ID to everyone. I then tried out contact only, and found I could only dial my contacts, and finally visible to everyone, and then i could dial out like normal. This is most annoying, as there are people who I don't want to see my number when I call, such as my students. Why would it block me calling in the first two cases - all I want blocked is my number appearing on the other person's phone. Could it have something to do with my local network? Any ideas?

PS I was playing about with my contacts while I was testing this out. I noticed my phone slowed down to a crawl, so much so that it was unusable, after changing a contact's details. Anyone else noticed this?
Has nobody experienced this? Or am I being an idiot and not understanding something simple?

I was wondering if anyone is facing this issue where if someone calls you and the person is stored in your contacts but the name does not appear when the person calls and just the number does.
Anyway around this issue? I am on the 900I with the Taiwan ROM.
